This was my first visit to this small family-run restaurant in the downtown area. I picked it for a lunch get-together with an old friend from Stockton, because Lodi made a good in-between locale. Not being familiar with too many places locally, I arrived and found this place easily using the mapping function on Google. There is available parking on the street in front as well as a free public lot behind the restaurant. Upon entering, we were greeted and seated immediately by a friendly server. My friend ordered the mild yellow curry and a Thai iced tea, while I ordered a medium-spicy green curry and a young fresh coconut. Both of us requested brown rice be served with our orders. Both $6.95 lunch menu selections came with a small salad with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. The curries were both tasty and decently-sized, albeit a bit bland. My friend had ordered hers mild, but I'd requested medium heat. Mine still was quite bland, so apparently they are cautious and don't take requests for more spice too seriously. Fairly common in restaurants that serve non-Thai clientele, I've noticed. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really distinguish itself. I would likely not go out of my way to come here in favor of some other Thai places that I am familiar with. I know it's difficult for a place to try to please the palates of a customer set that is not used to "Thai-hot" spice. However, I was disappointed that I'd expressly requested more heat and it wasn't delivered at all. I hate sending food back for small changes, so I didn't say anything. Eaten Thai everywhere, honestly the best is still Thai Chili in Elk Grove. Lodi now has 3 Thai restaurants all of them excellent. It really depends on your Thai style preference. Thai kitchen opened a few months ago on Sacramento Street which can be a little sketchy late night (although the presence of the 2 bars guarantees people everywhere) Staff is extremely pleasant and the menu offers a wide range of dishes. Wife was excited to see the noodle nest as an option, we hadn't seen that since a visit to a restaurant in San Jose last year. Kang Panang is also a choice which is a peanut butter based curry. Hard to find it at most Thai restaurants these days. Check it out! read more

Thai Kitchen is the best! Ingredients are always fresh and the food comes out piping hot! Staff is so friendly, they feel like family. We love the small, coziness of the restaurant and the family-run feel. This is without a doubt our family's favorite restaurant in Lodi. We haven't tried one thing on the menu that we don't like. I usually get Pad See Ew with tofu or veggies. I love their use of a variety of vegetables. A couple years ago Thai Kitchen was kind enough to allow our family to take up the whole restaurant for a surprise birthday party for my husband. They were very accommodating and the surprise went off without a hitch! Many of the people in attendance had never had Thai food. They were all hooked! It's true, the ambiance is less than polished..! Wouldn't take much to freshen it up and make the management of the to go section not so integral into the inside eating experience. This is one of my fav Thai places between stockton and lodi. The flavors/seasoning are bomb and the prices are very reasonable. The only detractor keeping them from 5 stars would be the tenderness of their meats. It's never quite tender enough (at all really) to earn that fifth star. This is a hidden gem in Lodi! Don't let the ambience deter you. It is the definition of a hole in the wall but their food is worth it! Thai kitchen has amazing curry and if you're dining in for lunch, don't skip over the soup-it's a little bit of home style comfort that I wish they sold in bigger bowls! I always get some combination of curry, but I've had some of their grilled meats as well which are delicious. And the prices are great! My new favorite Thai place. Very authentic as all the workers are Thai so you know your getting delicious Thai food pass down generations to generations. It's a very small hole in the wall restaurant and for me I feel the love. I was there for lunch and got the yellow curry with pork with a salad for a lunch combo for around $7. I also got the chicken satay for appetizer. The appetizer was so juicy and tender and the sauce was to die for. The dressing on the salad was out of this world. I really want to have the recipe for all my "future" salads lol. The main encore was the yellow curry and I ordered sticky rice to keep the dish authentic. How can a Thai restaurant mess up on their signature dish, Pad Thai. Granted this may be the only Thai restaurant in Lodi, in the middle of nowhere in California. Thai food here is average. I did order my noodle dish "medium" and it was unbearably spicy hot! Use caution here when they ask how spicy. Some Thai restaurants will make a medium very mild...this is not the case here. I was waited on w minimum effort. Service was not exceptional but not terrible either. It was average. Was not asked if the meal was ok, was not asked if I needed anything else. Just plate on the table and then a check at the end. I got the yellow curry over rice with chicken. The curry was very flavorful, although a bit runny, and the prices are great. Spent $7.50 plus tip. The restaurant is very small and fills up fast during lunch hours, so get there early. read more

My friend spent some years growing up in southeast Asia and has developed a love of Thai food. I however have only grown up in this little town and never really had thai food. I was super nervous knowing little of what to expect. We walk into this small little restaurant, greeted by very friendly staff. I stare at the menu and the only think I recognize is spring rolls and pad thai. I really don't want to feel heavy after leaving. I ask my friend and she says we MUST have the spring rolls with prawn and the green curry with prawns. Both of which we order and are AMAZING!!! The spring rolls come out and they are huge. Full of greens and fresh basil, wrapped in rice paper and prawns. The sauce really made them spectacular. The curry comes out in a steaming bowl with a basket on the side holding a bag of sticky rice. The curry is full of veggies and shrimp, the sauce is spicy but balanced out by the very tasty coconut milk. It was definitely a party for your taste buds. So many different flavors all playing together so well. The lunch time portion was a mere $6.95! With the spring rolls we got out of there for like $30 for both. Super reasonable. I hardly ate the rice because I didn't want to get super full but it was very very good. I highly recommend Thai Kitchen. Don't be put off by it's locations, it is good and it's packed, even on a Wednesday at 1pm! read more
