We have been eating here for more than 15 years and have never once had a bad experience. They have such a diverse menu that we can never get tired of the food. Service is always spot on. The inside had an elegant setting. Something I wasn't expecting. I thought it would be a more casual setting. Thai style chicken wings: About 5 pieces of wings and drumsticks. You can go with the regular or the explosive spicy. Also come with a sauce. To me, the chicken was bit salty but the taste will balance out if you dip it in the sauce. Thai papaya salad: Huge portion. You can choose the spicy level from 1-5. I asked for mild and the waiter said it was level 2. However, it was bit spicier than mild to me but no problem! It was still delicious. I'm a sucker for anything sour and spicy. Seriously though, we couldn't finish it. Thai iced tea: I honestly never ordered a thai tea at a Thai restaurant. I'm a fan of thai tea at boba places but there was just something special about this one. It didn't taste like one you would get at a boba place. It was so much better! We got it for free if you check in on Yelp. A-must! Curry: Not sure about the full name of this curry but you can select what kind of meat you want in it. We went with the pork. Once again, huge portion for two people. The potatoes were tender and just a good level of spice to the curry. It also come with a side of rice. Tom yum soup: You can go with a small or large. A small is big bigger than a rice bowl. From other picture, a large was quite big. Glad I didn't go with the large. We didn't eat too much of the soup due to the large portion of each dishes. Overall, very friendly service and great ambience. We had about 3 different waiters who check in on us very often. Although, the inside wasn't too crowded, a lot of people came to pick up orders. I think it's a great place to grab Thai food at a good price. Apparently, they also do delivery orders. Bonus: I also ran into a fellow Elite, Lou C. when we both saw each other's check-in. After a disappointing visit to a Thai Esarn/Laotian restaurant located in the 249/BW8 area, our group of friends wanted to find a better one closer to our area. We decided to visit Thai Liily Cafe, and this place didn't disappoint us. Everyone in our party had been here before, but that was about 4-5 years back under the old management. The restaurant had expanded and doubled its size. It looked much better and not so crowded like the last time that I was here. I also like that each table has a bell to ring to get the waitstaff attention. We ordered a few things like Som Tum (papaya salad), chicken wings, roasted pork shoulder with spicy sauce ( roasted pork neck is a literal translation lol), spicy seafood salad, and sticky rice. --The papaya salad was ordered Thai style, not Esarn or Laotian style. The other styles came with fermented fish. Some of us just can't handle that fermented fish smell including me. The papaya salad was really good, perhaps a bit sweet but still good. -- The seafood salad was great. The kitchen staff seasoned the dish to our liking. By the way, these two salads were prepared at level 2 out of 5 in the spicy/hot scale. -- Of all the things that we had that night, I like the roasted pork neck the best. The slightly marinated pork shoulder was cooked just right. The sauce consisted of fish sauce, lime juice and ground pepper, which added some kick to it. -- The wings and sticky rice weren't bad but just average. Not a slight on the establishment, I had been to Thai restaurants where they screwed up these two dishes. Also I also got a free Thai tea from checking in and posting pictures on Yelp. I recently discovered this Thai place the day I was moving away from this area! Whomp! But I still go back to it even though it's now 20 min drive sometimes! I always get the pad Thai with tofu. The tofu chunks are fairly big. Kind of wish there was more because it's so yummy! They're 3rd level spicy-ness is perfect. Not too spicy. Dishes we had here were some of the worst Thai food i've ever had the displeasure of tasting. In the most touristy part of Phuket where people who don't cook at all, who open restaurants just to get a piece of all that foreign money action..they make better (still no where near Thai cuisine) pads and curries. Every single piece of meat was over cooked, noodles drip with grease, and salads and veggies way too soggy. But the worst part? If you can't make tom yum from a paste or preprepared curry from a tub or even pad (insert any noodle name here) from a pouch, then you've really gotta wonder if you're in the right business. Even for Houston, a city that has almost no authentic Thai cooking (there are a few rare gems out there, though), Thai Lilly does not have the ability to stand out from the mediocre pack. read more

I ordered the Thai sour pork sausages (There's actual peanuts in this dish so be cautious if you're allergic) and the tom kha gai soup with a side of white rice. Both tasted authentic and the spice level in my soup was on point. My only concern was the person who took my phone order. He asked me if I wanted the regular or large portion for the Thai sour pork sausages. I asked him how many pieces come in each and he didn't know. His response was, "I don't work in the kitchen." That day, many of their customers came in for pickup and delivery so we had the cafe to ourselves. We started with fried, crispy calamari & the thai sour sausages, Sai Grok E-San, similar in look to Chinese sausage but not as sweet, more sour in taste, accompanied with fresh julienned ginger. We continued with the rainbow salad and mussaman curry, very aromatic and inviting. So I was holding off reviewing this place, since I didn't order my standard the first go around. Green curry is how I judge every Thai place I go. Thai Lilly did not disappoint me. We've been here twice now and it took a lot of convincing me to try it, because I have a few local favorites. However, the atmosphere in this place is so much better than my two favorite sketchy dive places. I feel comfortable here. It is welcoming, there are no old grimy men hanging at the bar lusting over the young Thai bartenders, it's clean and cozy. You know - you could actually bring a date here or family that's in town. As for the food, I was pleased each visit here. The papaya salad is fresh and tasty! It has good heat if you ask for it. The first go around I had Pad-Se-Ew (tofu) and found it to be really appetizing. The second go I had the tofu green curry. While I was let down in the heat (American hot), the flavor was really good. They added extra veggies for me too without any issue. The tofu is fried, so next time I'll see if they can do steamed as I'm not a fan of fried tofu and I'll try the Thai spicy and see if that can make my eyes widen a little. What can I say; I like to sweat a little when I eat my green curry ;) Overall all I like this place and we will be back. read more
