My last 2 visits were obviously superb, just weeks ago and again tonight. My # 1 here is the Beef Kubideh with Dill Rice. I also really like their Chicken Kubideh and Shrimp a lot too. The beef is so well-seasoned, so juicy, rich and has a great charbroiled / charcoal aroma to it. I think the exact same for the ground chicken, but less fatty, still very juicy and lighter flavor profile. The shrimp were simple, mild in seasoning, but so succulent, fresh and cooked just right. They didn't taste like frozen, bagged shrimp that was cooked, but fresh and slightly sweet with some char. The dill rice is full of lima beans, buttery / oily to the right amount and just the perfect level of earthiness. Great, fully cooked tomatoes that pop in your mouth. I had a bit of a sore throat today, but the food here was a wonderful way to pleasure the pallet. Most Persian restaurants in Houston have 0 charbroil or charcoal taste, bad meat full of fillers and minimal seasoning in their meat, but just 3-4 do it right. This place absolutely nails it for kabobs and can easily compete with California in the Orange County area where top notch Persian restaurants are common. Came here for a lunch with the SO while we were in the area. We ordered the appetizer sampler, koobideh combo, and meat in a bowl (forgot the name but it was one of their specialities). The bread the veggies that came out were very good. The appetizer sampler we got the eggplant dish, hummus, and yogurt and shallot. The hummus was not our favorite as our other go to Persian places seem to have a smoother texture but the eggplant was good. The yogurt was pretty tangy with light shallot flavor that wasn't super detectable but it was still nice. The koobideh was juicy and the rice and tahdig that came with it was super yummy. I don't love the seasoning for the chicken koobideh but that's just a preference thing nothing was wrong or unpleasant about it. The lamb koobideh was on point. The meat that my SO had was very good as well. Beef was tender. The chicken was tender. The only thing I was confused about was that my SO was supposed to also have tahdig on his rice but didn't receive it, he just got normal rice. My SO didn't tell me until the very end of the meal though so we didn't say anything to them but it was strange to forget that part of the meal. We didn't knock them for that because my SO didn't bring it to their attention and I'm sure they would have fixed it if we told them. Service was very friendly. They kept checking on us and were very polite. The outside of the restaurant is unassuming in a strip mall but the inside is pretty. There are some other Persian places that we prefer but the tahdig and the service and the juiciness of the meat were great here. The hummus was not our favorite though which to us is a big component that we like to eat. 4/5. read more

This little hidden hole in the wall was delicious! The meat is tender and flavorful, juicy, and just overall melt in your mouth! The service was exceptional, Mohammad was great, very attentive! Not pictured we had the hummus and the lovely, plate of herbs and cheese they bring when you sit, along with the best made to order bread I've had in this city, and I've had a lot of bread lol! When first driving up we were a little apprehensive since it's in a shopping center with a very unassuming sign. Once we got inside we were greeted by the most pleasant owner and the ambiance was so nice! We loved everything about this place! The owner was so sweet and showed us some new items we would not have gotten otherwise. My husband is Iranian so finding a good Persian restaurant is always a plus! He said the bread tastes just like it does in Iran! the beef was so delicious and the rice had tahdig which you don't find often in restaurants. The hummus was very good also but I would suggest getting two for the table if you have more than 4 people. I had a delicious meal at this restaurant on a surprisingly quiet Friday night. My partner and I tried the lamb koobideh (ground lamb/beef) and lamb shank, both of which were cooked to perfection. I appreciated the naan bread, cheese, radishes, and greens given as an appetizer to each meal, setting the stage for the tasty entrees to come. The bread was huge, pillowy, and fresh out the oven, a treat in of itself. The lamb koobideh came with what is called tahdig, which translates roughly to scorched rice per our waiter. Not only was the tahdig unique and tasty, the lamb koobideh was also an ample amount of meat, satisfying even my partner, who is a big eater. The lamb shank, complete with tahdig and dill/lima bean rice, was also scrumptious, the meat sliding off the bone perfectly. For less than $20 for most entrees, Randevou cannot be beat in quality, uniqueness, service and price. The restaurant is clean with a nice ambiance complete with prompt, attentive, patient, and friendly waitstaff. I would recommend everyone in Houston come check this place out! read more

I heard this halal spot had recently opened and I was excited to try it. I came in on a Saturday evening. The parking lot had plenty of room, and the restaurant had several open tables. I was promptly greeted and seated. I was brought a plate of warm bread as well as feta cheese and herbs while I reviewed the menu. I ordered the listed special, the kase kabob, which consisted of beef koobideh, chicken chenjeh, and beef chenjeh. Ambiance: The restaurant was a little dark, and I think it would have benefited from having better lighting. The tables were clean, and also sturdy! I don't like eating on a wobbly table. Food: I appreciated the thought behind the presentation of the rice with tahdig. However, the presentation could have been improved by using a smaller plate. I am also not sure why the restaurant wanted to present the kabob in a bowl instead of putting it on the same plate as the rice. The tahdig was not crispy enough, but all of the kabob options were tasty and seasoned nicely. Service: Everyone was friendly and attentive. However, there was some confusion when it came time to pay the bill. The receipt had a QR code, that allowed me to pay for my meal. I scanned the QR code, immediately paid, and started to leave. However, one of the staff followed me outside because they thought I didn't pay, so I had to show my receipt. In the future, I think the restaurant could eliminate the QR option since it doesn't seem like they use it often. Value: Overall, I thought the meal was expensive. The meal cost $27 before tax and tip. While the kabob was very good, I would have liked to have more than two pieces of chicken. When I ordered, I was under the impression that the portions would be larger. The other meals seemed to be a bit more reasonably priced, so I would recommend for people to order something else. read more

I got the Kashke Bademjan, Kase Kabob, Fesenjan, grilled vegetables and extra bread - pickup order. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, very clean and the staff were very nice. The portion sizes were very nice, I will probably be able to make 3 meals out of what I ordered. The only thing I don't think I would order again were the grilled vegetables. When ordering online, there are a couple of extra items on the online order form that is not on the online menu, so I would suggest also looking at the online ordering form if you are wanting to check out the menu as well. The beef koobideh and beef chenjen were so favorable, I would highly recommend them. Overall, I will be putting this restaurant in my regular rotation. read more

Saw a new Persian restaurant so I had to check it out. Plenty of seating and parking during the week. They added some nice renovations and touches from the previous tenant. Service was prompt as we were one of two tables seated in the restaurant. I ordered the koobideh kabob and it comes with tadigh which was fantastic, however, the rice wasn't that great. The Koobideh wasn't bad but was missing something.. I ordered a side of gormeh sabzi to try it out and I wouldn't order it again. Hot tea was good, and came in cute cups. Value wise- it was pricier than it should have been. Other similar restaurants in the area provide larger portions for less money and also taste better in my opinion... I'm hoping to return in a few months and maybe try something else. read more

This was a very cool hidden spot. It's tucked away at the back corner of the building and easy to miss if you don't look out for it. My navigation actually didn't get me to the right spot, which is a shame because this place is great. I came in on a Thursday night and was able to find plenty of available seating. It's a very clean/nicely decorated place. It had beautiful white marble(?) everywhere and great artwork. Definitely gave a nice ambiance. They had one front of house person running the whole show. You can find the menu by scanning the QR code taped to the table. It takes you to a menu where you can order but orders are taken by the waiter. It was a little confusing system but they took my order quickly enough. The food came out really fast. I was pleasantly surprised by the service. The waiter was friendly and asked if I enjoyed my rice when I left a little at the end. They initially served me a small salad with spinach, feta, and radishes. It was a little different than what you see elsewhere and I liked it. I ordered the lamb shank which is one of my favorites. It's a tricky dish because it takes a long time to make. The lamb itself fell off the bone and was well cooked. I'd give it a 7.5/10. It was served with rice which was different than what I've had at any other restaurant. I thought it was very interesting especially since it came with an interesting crunchy top. It paired really well with the lamb shank. I saw a few people around me order different types of kabob. They looked and smelled amazing. I think I will come back to try those in the future. read more

Houston is home to one of the largest population of Persians in the US. I remember back in the 90's when the stretch of Hillcroft between Westheimer and Westpark was called Little Persia. Now, the community has stretched to all corners of the city, and small start-ups have developed devoted fans and moved into larger spots, often freeing up the former digs for new places to incubate. So is the case of the new Randevou Taste of Persia (2691 Wilcrest at Westheimer), which has taken over the space that was once Avesta, which has relocated across the street. Based on a lunch I had today with some of Houston's most notable foodie brothers, I hope to see the same success for the newbie. You can't amass a much better and discerning group of diners than Bellaire Asia District's Honorary Mayor Michael Shum, Mr. Chocolate himself Tony Najjar, physical trainer to the stars, Triet Hoang, Samurai Noodle ramen master Thomas L Tang, and Han Pangestu, who brought all of us a spectacular homemade Indonesian dessert called es teler. Our kind and accommodating server Said took exemplary care of us throughout our meal. We started with a traditional sabzi khordan platter, featuring fresh feta, dill, mint, and basil; followed by a tangy mast museer (dried shallots blended with homemade yogurt) and kashke bademjan, made with tender eggplant, minced garlic, and dried mint, topped with fried onions, walnuts, and a drizzling of kashk (sour cream). We added some exceptional garlicky hummus, made creamier with the addition of tahini. I was happy to see everyone willing to try the homemade doogh, a thick minty yogurt drink that I can happily chug by the gallon. Said suggested we do a family order of grilled meats, and soon arrived two heaping platters, one containing beautifully seasoned koobideh along with succulent chunks of barg and chenjeh (marinated beef filet). The beef was exceptionally tender and packed with flavor. The second platter contained chicken koobideh, blended with grated onion, as well as a selection of glistening, juicy chunks of chicken, from marinated Cornish hen (jujeh kabab) to chicken barg and jujeh halazouni (marinated tenderloin). Thinking back on all the amazing Persian meals I've had in the past, I'm having a hard time remembering meats I've enjoyed more. Each of us received a huge plate of tahdig, which means "bottom of the pot" and refers to pan-fried rice laced with saffron and served with a perfectly golden crust. This crispy rice is a treat in many cultures. In Colombia, it's called "pega," and in Korea, we call it "nurungji," and those in the know crave it. The version here is sublime and goes particularly well with another dish we ordered--the not very photogenic ghormeh sabzi, an stew featuring an intense blend of spinach, herbs, red kidney beans, and tender chunks of beef. I enjoy dining with this group so much, but even more when we can share a truly exceptional meal like this one. Randevou is almost hidden in a little side corner of the large shopping center at the corner of Wilcrest and Westheimer. That hidden location did not keep people from finding Avesta--don't let it keep you from finding this delightful new replacement. read more

The chicken thigh is the best IMO. This is the best Persian food I have had hands down, except for maybe Madrid, by a guy who opened his restaurant after fleeing during the downfall of the Shah and a local hangout spot. Honestly Randevou might be as good and this is incredible praise. I've eaten at over 30 Persian restaurants and my godfather is Persian. I almost listened to Mike E's review but glad I didn't. Some restaurants have a hard time serving large groups, maybe this is one of them. But if you have less than eight people, this place is gold. I'm from LA, theoretically the US home of Persian food and this place blows away everything, including taste of Tehran. I ate at Avesta and it was complete trash. I got the Case Kabob special and thought the chicken was the best. The mast o musir here is excellent. Service is phenomenal, prices are more than fair. I cannot emphasize enough how good Randevou is, you will not regret it, and if you do you must have lost your sense of taste. read more

Doogh was on point, exactly what I expected and not just some yogurt drink someone dumped in a glass and put pepper in and thought "close enough". Stumbled upon this little gem! We usually frequent another popular spot but decided to give this a try. Quaint restaurant located within a shopping center. We stooped by on a Saturday for lunch and we ordered the kashk bademjan it was so good! They also provided a sabzi plate with cheese and bread, which was very fresh. There was another table and a to go order while we were there(off time 2pm), and we also ordered a kubideh plate and soltani plate. I asked for fresh onion, and it was amazing!!!!
