I am very disappointed in this "Thai" restaurant. We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and Pad See Iew with beef. Both tasted like a bunch of sugar had been dumped on it and did not have the typical Thai flavors as these dishes usually have at other restaurants. The Pad Thai sauce tasted like sugar and did not have a tamarind flavor to it at all. Honestly, aside from the sugar it was very bland... We couldn't even finish it. The Pad See Iew noodles were very soggy. Because we ordered the beef as the meat addition, there was an upcharge, which is fine; however we only received maybe 3-4 small pieces of beef?! The sauce for this dish was mediocre, but too sweet for my liking. I would recommend going somewhere else if you're in the mood for Thai food. read more

Thai orchid is always fresh, delicious, clean, and service is always prompt and personable. There is space and safety in this restaurant, we always feel we can eat indoors and that others are also being careful. We especially enjoy their Thai vegetables, green curry, and Tom yum soup. I came here because I got a groupon for it and it actually was good. Usually sometimes groupon places are just okay but me craving Thai food and coming here didn't disappoint. The groupon was for a appetizer either spring rolls or potstickers and two entress. I ended up getting the spring rolls and the pad see ew and the pad Thai. The waiters were friendly and quick to give you anything you need. The food came out quick and was pretty good. The pad thai seemed a little dry and the noodles slightly undercooked but I actually like it like that so I was fine but my sister that came with me was not a fan. She did like the pad see ew and I did too. It was very sweet and savory. I got level 2 spicy for each dish but honestly I did not taste anything and probably shoud've gotten a 4 spicy level and I usualy can't do too spicy but there was barely a hint of spicy. I just wished they would put some more veggies in the pad see ew cause it was just broccoli but other places I got to add carrots and bean sprouts which would've been nice. The atmosphere is very dark so I couldn't get a good lighting but the pictures of my food was decent enough. If I went during lunch it would've been nice but the groupon said it had to be dinner. I thought I would give it a try - although I was nervous because I am very selective with my Thai food and always go to the same place over and over. I just ordered Thai Orchid last night and it's as good as ever! My daughter ate her entire order of chicken satay, potstickers, and mango sticky rice. I had the Pad Kee Mow and it was amazing! Lots of chicken, vegetables, and noodles in a delicious sauce with the right amount of spice. Knowing that there are dozens of Thai restaurants in the North Dallas suburbs, I was looking forward to trying Thai Orchid. A group of us from work went for a later lunch during the week hoping that the lunch crowd had passed. The crowds had passed, but unfortunately the lunch took well over an hour which seemed a bit long for a Thai restaurant. I will say that the Spring Roll given as an appetizer for the lunch entree was delicious! Also, the pad thai is excellent but be conservative with your stars. I typically go with a 3 at most places and am fine, but this super spicy. Everyone seemed very pleased with their food, and the wait staff was very friendly. It's ok. We went there with friends and the place was empty. Getting seated I noticed a 3-piece band getting set up. I asked the manager if music was a regular offering and he just said "No. private party". I asked if it would be loud and he said "yes". We left. Coming back a month later, again with friends, the food and service was good and the place was quiet so we could have a good conversation. Delicious! Always drive by and decided to finally try it out. Ordered take out from work, ordered Pad Kee Mow (Basil Noodle) - Stir-fried rice flat noodle with your choice of meat, (I chose tofu), mixed with egg, tomato, broccoli, onion, and basil leaves. By the time I got to the restaurant, it only took a few minutes before the food was out. I enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar. The restaurant is much nicer then you would think, and very clean. The staff is extremely polite and welcoming. The food was delicious! Lots of flavor and the perfect mix of heat. For lunch and a glass of wine, it came out to about $16.00. Okay, must start out by saying that Best Thai on Belt Line has been my go-to-for-Thai these last few years. AND, I just love it !! "Nuf said. Today, bored, bored, bored, after being voluntarily sequestered at home due to the frigid temps (except for necessary runs to the grocery and other must do errands). Had to get out for a reprieve from the computer and watching DVR shows. Had a hankering for Thai, and recalled Thai Orchid from several moons ago when I took business associates there for their annual performance reviews. Yep, it was an assumed fact that if one was invited out to lunch, your review was going to be good (or great!). No lunch invite, "let's meet in the conference room", uh oh, "I'm in trouble" !! I was pretty transparent! Everyone prayed for lunch @ Thai Orchid !! I digress; so, today I decided to go back to an old haunt and check it out. Sooo glad I did; Thai Orchid met and exceeded my expectations. Lovely place, it is larger than it appears from outside, in this strip center @ Landmark & Beltline in Addison, behind Dunkin Donuts and the AT&T store. Beautiful chairs and tables in mahogany woods, a pretty large bar area separated by a wall with two large paned windows and an adjoining small dining area that would be nice for a group get-together. Simple but tastefully done. One large wall painted in a magenta color, adding some warmth to the room. It's quite relaxing and comfy, with tables along the windows. You almost forget its location. Seated promptly by a friendly host around 1600; I was the only table in the place. Glass of Merlot served immediately. I started with an app of Thai Satay of Tofu and peanut sauce. Extra sauce please. Upon delivering the Satay, Ta, my server, requested my order; I'm such a bore, such a creature of habit....make that Pad Thai with Chicken, and a Spring Roll. Okay...acknowledge here I am ordering way too much food for one small eater, but more to take home, right? Tofu Satay is melt in your mouth goodness. A bright golden color, with grill marks on the crispy outside, and plump and creamy on the inside, with a "kick" of spice. Combine that with the thick creamy peanut sauce, and I am drooling all over my sweater. 5 thick 3 inch pieces on a skewer; oh YUM, Yay, lots to take home. Here comes the star of the evening; a gorgeous huge mound of Pad Thai, beautifully presented with fresh cilantro on top; lots of tender, moist chicken and slivers of green onions. Upon delivery, I requested lime slices for the entree. Ta was surprised and said "You know how to eat Pad Thai, must have fresh squeezed lime on top, right?" Of course, doesn't everyone? Apparently not; he said they once served the dish with lime pieces, but no one used them, so they stopped. He was soooo excited I requested this accompaniment !! Gosh, guess I made his day ?? The Spring Roll was very good, small, but crispy and flavorful with the sweet and sour sauce. Of course, I also lathered it in the peanut sauce as well. Why not? The serving of Pad Thai was enormous; I am not a big eater, but do eat enough to maintain life. I will probably get 3 meals out of this one entree, in addition to the 3 skewers of Tofu Satay that rode home with me today. Multiple meals on one dish makes for very economical dining out ! You may already discern that I rate the food a "5". It most definitely was. Service - a HUGE "10" if I could. Ta was absolutely delightful, very attentive, but not intrusive. In addition to personally boxing up my left overs (Gee I love that, makes me feel like a Princess), he asked if he could suggest how I warm up the Pad Thai at home. WOW, that's never happened to me. He gave me detailed instructions on how to do this to keep the dish from drying out. Again, another WOW !! I also casually commented that the next time I came in I should try something different as I always order the Pad Thai. Ta scurried to get a menu and brought it back, showing me several suggestions that he thought I would like, based on my noodle dish preferences. Just amazing; yep, just amazing. Yes, I do LOVE Best Thai, and will always keep it on "the" list, but now I have two fave Thai spots in my rotation for a change of scenery. My sister and I came here for dinner one Saturday night. The first thing I noticed was how dimly lit it is and the decor was very nice. It was also quiet, but as our meal progressed it did get a little more crowded and a few large groups came in. I like how one wall is purple and matches the awning in the front, the decorations on the walls look like just about any other Thai place, but, what else are they going to put up on the walls? It's a Thai restaurant! We started out with two Singhas and they came with frosty mugs, which made my day. I was in desperate need for a beer after a long week in Dallas, so it --really-- hit the spot. Our waiter must have known because he was very quick to ask if we needed more rounds as we emptied our mugs within minutes. For the appetizer we went with the chicken satay. The chicken was very tasty and moist. The peanut sauce was a little thicker than I've had it, but still very good. As well as the cucumber/onion mix, which had jalepenos floating in it. Very good. I went with the red curry with chicken and my sister had the Thai chili with chicken for her entree, both level 2 (out of 5). I initially asked for a level 4, thinking it was out of 10 so I may have ended up getting a 4 instead of a 2. There was enough heat in my curry that I didn't need to add the chili sauce, which I like to do to make it spicier. The curry was really good - just the right consistency along with bamboo shoots, red and green peppers. I tasted the Thai chili, it was good, not something I would order but still good. It came with chicken, green beans (that needed to be cooked just a tad more) and red peppers. The mango sticky rice is definitely worth trying. It is delicious. Warm rice with coconut milk that makes it oh so sweet. Mmmmm. I want some now. I can't tell you if this is -the best- place in Dallas for Thai food, but it is definitely comparable to my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. The service was good, the food came out in a reasonable time although the kitchen got slammed at once. And our waiter kept our frosty mugs full of beer, so I have no complaints. read more

There were some low-star reviews so I wanted to leave my own positive experience on here (cause sometimes those folks who leave 1-2 star reviews are just grumpy, or think they are Food Networks Gift To Humanity [real thing, I promise] and leave bad reviews for an ego-stroke) I ordered take-out. I ordered it spicy (2 on a 1-5 scale) The restaurant was quiet and mostly empty on a Wednesday night at 9pm (not a shock) but the pad thai is delicious and an appropriate level of spicy. Not too sweet, and definitely not soggy (I've had soggy pad thai before. No bueno.) Take-out service was prompt and polite.
