We have been looking for a good Thai restaurant since moving to the western suburbs, and I had heard Thai Orchid was just that. Unfortunately, we did not agree with that opinion. The portions are very generous, and the chicken egg rolls were tasty and crispy. However, the inordinate reliance on chicken was not to our liking. The pot stickers were filled with chicken and the filling was very dry. Also, the wontons were filled with chicken and also dry and tasteless. Where was the pork in these two dishes? We ordered tofu pad kee mao which was also very dry and the noodles were thinner width than usual and undercooked as was the pannage noodle. The shrimp pad thai was tasty, but the shrimp were small and overcooked. This restaurant is take out only, and it seems as if they are just trying to stay afloat by using the least expensive ingredients. We will keep looking for a Thai restaurant to our liking. read more

I love Thai food, and wanted to give a new place a try. And although it was not bad, it also was not great. Crab Rangoon was a bit overcooked, the pot stickers bland. For the Pad Thai, noodles were overcooked and so were the shrimps. For the Pad See Ew, the noodles and broccoli were delicious but the beef was dry and completely tasteless. A bit disappointing. Since 2004 this is the only place I'll get Pad Thai from and consistently be satisfied. Even if I accidentally order it Thai spicy ‍. As a chef I only wish I could replicate their flavors from the little details like dipping sauces to apps and entrees. A true testament to balance & umami as well as leftovers still being flavorful the next day cold. I'm blessed to be able to introduce my fiancé to them and have her request Thai Orchid to get my fix. I've yet to get a meal less than stellar here and any qualms other reviewers have on this app simply have defunct taste buds. This is my first time getting food from this restaurant and I will say I certainly wasn't disappointed! Pad Thai and Panang curry came out very well. I think the strongest point to this restaurant is their portion to cost ratio, the prices already are pretty cheap, yet this is some of the largest portion sizes I've received from a Thai place. Pad Thai: 8/10 relative to other Thai food, probably nearly double the portion you may received at other Thai restaurants. Panang Curry: 7.5/10, still delicious just wasn't as sweet as I was hoping for. The white rice went quick so a larger portion size would be nice Got medium spice for both and wasn't disappointed. Plenty of spice, if you are afraid of spicy food then ask ahead for little spice, even the medium has quite the kick. Seems like some of the past reviews were harsh on the cook/wait time. You can tell this place is a smaller restaurant as there were only about two people in the establishment. So yes, the wait times will be longer. Call ahead and pick up your food when it's ready, it's certainly worth it. I look forward to returning. My family ordered Thai Orchid off Uber eats for dinner and it did not disappoint! Our order took a little longer than expected to prepare, so if anything I'd say just order ahead of time:) The portions were huge and it was super tasty. We got cashew chicken, extra spicy basil fried rice, and pad khee mao. I was honestly kinda worried our food was going to be too spicy but it was perfect! Dont go above medium if you can't handle spice at all, but if u love a kick then get the extra spicy level. Tonight I had the good fortune of trying Thai Orchid for the very first time. The meal our party of three enjoyed was hands down the best Thai food I have ever enjoyed. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on Eola Road that, if you are not familiar with the area, you may not be aware of. There is plenty of parking and it is in a very clean, safe part of town. When you first walk in you will find a cozy, casual, adorable, family-run environment. It is a calm, quiet place to enjoy dinner or lunch (there is also take-out available). We were greeted by as well as seated by one of the owners and his oh-so-mannerly son. The three of us shared appetizers: Chicken Satay with a peanut sauce and cucumber salad (chicken so tender it nearly fell off the skewers and an impeccable peanut sauce), and Vegetarian Egg Rolls filled with cellophane noodles and vegetables served with sweet & sour sauce (the rolls were crisp and cut up easily, the sauce delectably balanced its combination). All vegetables were noticeably fresh -- each ingredient was distinguishable from the next yet came together in a tremendous melange served together. We then shared a Spicy Beef Salad (tender medium-rare grilled beef topped with chopped chili, cilantro so fresh you can't help but taste it, and garlic in a tasty lime sauce). The beef was remarkably tender, and the garlic was tasteful without being overpowering. After that our order of Pad Thai (we chose chicken as the meat) arrived and we were utterly delighted. I elected for the Spicy Basil Noodle (again, we chose chicken) topped with broccoli, bamboo shoots (a first for me and they were a delight), and basil leaves in a special house spicy gravy sauce. The basil truly stood out in this dish and was, at the risk of repeating myself, remarkably fresh tasting. The crown jewel of the meal, however, was the Panang Curry (again, we elected for chicken) simmered in coconut milk with peanut butter, bell peppers, and sprinkled with spiced kaffir leaves. Throughout the evening all three of us eventually mixed everything on the table in the curry sauce. It was utterly spectacular. We all agreed that we would happily take a bowl of it home and enjoy it as a soup of its own! Lastly, our server, the son of the owner and cook, brought out dessert: Banana in sweet coconut milk. My mother is not a fan of warm banana dishes so I went to down on the bowl (served piping hot). It seemed to taste more of plantain than banana, but this did not matter because it was just so darn delicious. The other owner/cook, Pim came out after our meal was completed. A polite, energetic, and lovely woman explained how she cooks in the restaurant the very same as she does in her home, and I have no doubt in my mind about that -- every single dish we ate tasted of fresh ingredients with home-cooked zest. If you enjoy Thai food then make sure you stop by Thai Orchid as soon as possible. read more

We have tried this restaurant twice now and have been disappointed each time. We ordered the Red Curry, Pad Thai, and Pad Khee Mao dish last night. The curry comes with rice. We got a giant tub of curry and a single scoop of rice. We will end up making more rice at home to use with the curry. The noodles in the Pad Thai tasted over cooked, it is bland, not much flavor to it. The Pad Khee Mao is described as being "spicy." However, it was not spicy at all. And the noodles were also very over cooked. It almost tasted like it had been cooked and then microwaved as well. Minimal vegetables overall....it's very heavy on the noodles and then sparse on the vegetables and protein. It's not the worst we have had but we are done giving it a chance. We moved here from Geneva and will continue going to Geneva for amazing Thai food. read more

Tonight we used Door Dash to order delivery from Thai Orchid and it was fantastic. First the one downer: My wife ordered the Pad See Eiw which unfortunately had some problems but I think that was more the fault of time spent in a takeout container than it is their fault. It steams in the container and overcooks itself during the delivery. If we try it at the restaurant I'm guessing it won't have this problem and I will be sure to update my review to reflect that. Otherwise, though, the experience was outstanding. I've been looking for good Thai food since I left the Buffalo, NY area 5 years ago. I've found a few passable substitutes but this is the first time I've found something that was actually very good. The Tom Kha was exactly the flavors I was looking for and the curry was spicy without sacrificing flavor in any way. We will definitely be ordering from Thai Orchid again. Hopefully next time we will have it at the restaurant itself and see if I'm right about where the problems with the noodles came from. read more

We ordered a beef pad Thai for me, a vegetable fried rice for my husband and a crab Rangoon to share. We drove to a park about 15 minutes away and when we arrived we discovered they got our order wrong. They gave us a veggie pad Thai and beef fried rice. They only got the crab Rangoon correct. On top of that they didn't give us forks or napkins so we didn't have anything to eat our food with at the park. Also the bathroom at the restaurant didn't have toilet paper so that was delightful. Caution to anyone who orders caryout. Everything come out super overcooked. Ordered the chicken Thai basil and received a styrofoam box with soggy lettuce and a pile of mushy noodles on top of it. When i dumped it on a plate it came out in a brick mould. Was not spicy at all and had no visable basil -almost unedible due to the mush. Thai Orchid is our first and best choice for Thai food. We have been going there for more than 15 years and the quality of the food has always been the best.
