    Beef Basil Fried Rice
    Teresa M.

Yuuum!!!! My husband and I are trying all the local winfield restaurants we can since moving here, and tonight, we were craving Thai food! Somsri Thai came right up on Yelp and the pics looked delicious! We ordered pickup and got an order of crab Rangoon, I got the chicken Pad Woon Sen, and my husband got the beef Basil Fried Rice. The food was ready to pickup so fast! Staff was very friendly, portion sizes were great and food was incredibly fresh! The place is pretty tiny so perfect for pickup! There was so much flavor in our dishes and we can't wait to try some more of their dishes!

    Orange Karaage

A small thai restaurant that pretty much has customers shoulder to shoulder. I was expecting them not to have an orange dish on the menu, but to my surprise they recently added orange karaage which is just lightly breaded white meat chicken chunks tossed with a very mild orange sauce and vegetables. It comes with a side of fried rice. I also opted for shrimp cigars which is just shrimp and basil with a spring roll wrap. The entrees are about $13-$16 and the appetizers are between $8-$13. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. They brought out the entree first then the shrimp cigar appetizer (possibly a kitchen mishap there.) The sauces, including the dipping sauce for the shrimp cigars added nothing, being almost bland. The shrimp cigars themselves were disappointing because you take one bite, pull out the little bit of shrimp/basil then are left with half a spring roll shell. The food overall is ok, but lacks a lot of flavor. Everything was cooked well, with the chicken being juicy with a crisp outer layer which adds to the confusion as to why the food isn't better tasting. They also need to do a better job of highlighting drinks. The staff was nice, checked in every once in awhile & cleaned tables immediately after customers left. You can tell this is one of those spots where they expect you to eat your food quickly then leave, but are nice about it. In the modern age it's actually nice that they even have a place sit down.

This place is hidden off the main road by the train tracks, and it doesn't look fancy, but it's a great place! Very small and intimate, cozy and warm. The staff is great, attentive and friendly. Plenty of parking right outside the front door. The pricing is great and the portions are perfect! Very clean and it was not crowded when we went. This place is definitely work giving a shot if you're in the area!

Pineapple Curry & Pad Thai. Both super yummy!

A small family owned restaurant. Limited seating, nice staff, phenomenal food!! The pinneapple curry is unique & tasty. Would recommend.

Yes! It is a small space and I'm not sure if they are restricting numbers. But I was there picking up an order a week ago and there was a table dining in.

Sadly, we gobbled up the food before I remembered to take photos. D'oh! I highly recommend the Tea Leaf salad--a Burmese staple and a real treat if you haven't had it before. Very flavorful and just a hint of spice (don't eat the sliced peppers if you're spice-adverse, but we devoured them). We also had Shan Noodles (B8). I also recommend that. A mild to medium spice level and very tasty. Generous portions. Two dishes was enough for two though I wish we had tried the spring rolls or samosas too--we might have had leftovers if we had! The restaurant itself is inviting and clean. They did a good job considering the location in a strip mall. The lighting looks nice, and the textured walls add to the inviting ambience.

If you want 12 meals, it's a 2 hour session. Conceptually, I thought this was a great idea and went for the 6 meal session. I signed up and headed in, ready to have all these meals my family would chow down on and I wouldn't have to think about making. First of all unless you just consider your meal one dish, it's not a whole meal you are preparing. It's just the meat/fish/chicken/pasta dish! So you still have to come up with the veggie, salad, bread, etc. Also their idea of a serving is the one approved by the food pyramid people, enough for a kid under 5 to eat. So it's not enough food if you have 4 people that eat. Maybe enough for 2 adults and an infant. You could throw in an anorexic girl as well. I also had a problem with the ingredients. While they did have some great cuts of flank steak, the salmon portions were frozen and the chicken breasts were those big frozen blobs you get in the big plastic bag at Cub Foods! Hello, I'm paying about $20 a "meal" here, how about some fresh ingredients? The recipes were ok. There was marinated flank stead, salmon with pesto sauce, some beef and chicken dishes as well as lasagna (too goopy) and soup. And the point of paying $20 for some soup is......? I have to say the facility was VERY clean and the staff was around answering questions or telling people to go faster since their time was running out. It was nice to have them actually involved. So if you are truly desperate for meals and have a family that isn't picky and doesn't eat much, this wouldn't be a bad fit. But if you are a cheapskate like me with big eaters, this isn't the place for you!
