Review of Thai Village Restaurant For context, my doctor's practice is nearby so I've passed by Thai Village Restaurant every few months whenever I have an appointment. I always wondered what the food was like but never had the time to check it out because I was usually rushing back to work. But recently, I had Friday off and scheduled my doctor's appointment around that. After the appointment, the weather was nice, and I was starving, so I decided to walk over around lunchtime and finally try it for myself. The place is a bit small on the inside, but it's kept very clean, which I appreciate. The service was also very fast. Even though it was lunchtime on Friday, there weren't a lot of people around, so I was seated almost immediately and a waitress came by to take my order shortly after. I ordered the Panang Curry with chicken (which also came with a side of rice), and a soda. The food came out pretty quickly too, and was steaming hot. I had thought initially since nobody was around, that maybe the food or service here might be bad. I was wrong. I've had a lot of Panang Curries in the past (it's my favorite Thai dish), so I knew what to expect taste-wise. But this was probably the best Panang Curry I've ever had, hands down. It made the other Panang Curries I've had from other Thai restaurants nearby seem bad in comparison. This Panang Curry was spicy (but not *too* spicy), savory, and it had the perfect ratio of sauce to vegetables to chicken. I also really appreciate that this restaurant didn't skimp out on the chicken; other nearby restaurants will throw in just a small handful of meat pieces and call it a day, which ruins the dish in my opinion. This was the ultimate Panang Curry, and probably the best one you'll find in the suburbs of Chicago. Aside from the food, the restaurant was clean, the service was fast, and the staff was nice. I'd highly recommend checking out this place for some good Thai food, or at least stopping by for a quick lunch. read more

Went there for dinner last night with friends, and it's a solid Thai restaurant! Service was impeccable and the waitress was super nice! Place is on the small size and was a bit noisy but not too bad. My Pad Thai could have used a little more flavor, and some crushed peanuts, but still very good. The curries looked amazing and the food was fresh and well-priced. A good choice if you're in the area! read more

Got some good Thai food at this local favorite in Batavia. It has a lot of items to choose from whether it's with noodles or rice. Thai Village is a charming smaller restaurant with a surprisingly big menu for the amount of space. Has good prices for the amount. You can find meaty and vegetarian items with choices of proteins. Came for dinner and it wasn't busy. It's pretty cramped even when it isn't. There's only a few tables. Feels more like a house. We got some of the vegetarian options. It's about $11 for an entree. These come with the choice of protein. I got the Kung Pao Noodles. This has bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, celery, and peanuts. Had a fairly mild to hot spice to it. They have even more spice if you want to add some. Has been considered by many to be the best place to get Thai food around here. It's located in downtown among plenty of other places to eat, but it's not as busy as these other places. There's a choice of protein for most entrees, including tofu okay for vegans and vegetarians. read more

This hole-in-the-wall family restaurant was so amazingly authentic, it was such a great surprise to find in a this small suburb! I was ECSTATIC to see Green Thai Tea on their menu, I forgot to take a picture before I gulped half of it down! The beef salad was nice and refreshing, though note that their style is the sweeter/less spicy version. We LOVED their basic Fried Rice, so full of flavor, even as their simplest offering! We got it medium spicy, so they added their chili oil for a perfect heat. The Massamun Curry is also the sweeter style with super juicy pineapple. The potatoes are kept whole, which was a unique feature that made them perfectly soft to eat with the curry! We also loved their chili sauces that they bring as a side to the table. Our server was incredibly attentive and our cups were never empty. We are so excited to visit again! read more

After searching for 45 minutes to find a restaurant that was actually open for lunch mainly after searching the dilapidated downtown area of Aurora Illinois, I finally acquiesced to 17 minute drive due north to this absolutely amazing restaurant. Thai Village restaurant has a great hostess and server who cheerfully answered the phone when I called to make sure that they were open for lunch. I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch portion which was very affordable (Very) and a decent sized portion which also came with a mini eggroll. It was cooked to perfection, Crunchy and delicious and came out within 5 to 7 minutes. Go there! read more

In the charming town of Batavia, there is a delightful spot with authentic Thai cuisine. Free street parking. The small, cozy restaurant always takes me back to our experiences in Thailand. It's highly recommended to call ahead and make a reservation, particularly during weekends. Ordering takeout is a popular choice for me. Some of the must-try dishes include pineapple fried rice, crab meat fried rice, panang and red curry, pad si ew, beef with broccoli, along with delicious beverages like Thai iced tea. Good food and good service! I love panang curry and saw they had panang noodles so decided to give it a try. The flavor was perfect and came very warm. The noodles were not what I expected - almost like wontons. They were good but I think next time I would stick with the normal curry with rice. The pad thai and peanut noodles also looked amazing! We like Thai village and switch between it and tusk. We frequently order the yellow curry and the pad Thai. We have never eaten in and only some carry out but every time I go in it is busy! The one thing they could improve upon is consistency. Sometimes we order and feel that it is AMAZING and other times it feels under seasoned and bland. I keep going back to Thai Village to give them one last try, because I want to love their food again like I used to, but sadly, Sunday night sealed the deal, and I just can't spend good money there any longer. The sesame chicken was way too salty, the fried rice was awful. It didn't taste fresh and it was absolutely flavorless. This was a take-out order, and my son and I couldn't finish what we served ourselves on our plates. We agreed that it was almost inedible. This used to be my favorite place in Batavia, and I don't know what has happened, but the quality is just not there. read more

Food was ready when I arrived in 15 minutes and the order was correct. 4 dishes, good size portion, lacking some flavor. ______________________ I called in four different Thai dishes, Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad Thai, Chicken Ginger, Cashew Chicken. $53.00. The food was hot and the portions were a decent size. The recipes lacked some flavor. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked to order. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I asked for some hot sauce, chopped peanuts and chop sticks and the waiter was more than happy to fill my requests. I was not able to find a menu anyplace online. It would have been nice to have seen a menu prior to placing our order, so I posted one. I hope this helps. I did not see any online ordering options for this restaurant. First time trying Thai Village, and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised! They have a great menu with many choices. We both each had 3 dishes that we wanted to try. However, I ended up getting the Yaki Soba with veggies, and he ordered the Golden Noodles with chicken. The soy sauce on the noodles was light and had a little bit of sweetness. We would both order again :) We ordered carry out this time, but look forward to dining in sometime soon. PROS: -Quick service -Great menu -Good sized portions -Friendly staff that was able to answer questions about menu over the phone. CONS: -Yaki Soba entree could have had more noodles. read more

OK, where to start a review for a Thai restaurant that is the opposite of everything a Thai restaurant should be. Worst Thai food I have every experienced. We had 5 people, ordered entres for each as well as a whole bunch of appetizers and also the most expensive tea they had. We were splurging. First the food, Thai is characterized as fresh, flavorful, lightly cooked to keep the essence of the fresh ingredients and herbs. Thai village had the (likely frozen) veggies cooked to mush, the chicken dried out like freezer burned chicken strips. The rice was gummy, and the pad thai noodles mushy. The appetizers were bad, like not even dollar store frozen stuff good. Let's touch on the service. First two dishes arrive a reasonable time after the appetizers. Then another 15 minutes or so for one more to show up. After waiting another 10-15 minutes I asked the waitress when we could expect the final 2 entrees and she snapped at me, "Your food is coming!". When, today? We were not being rude or obtrusive in anyway, and this was the only time we asked so the response was completely inappropriate. Another 10 or so minutes and it showed up finally. Over half an hour from first entree to the last is completely unacceptable and not any recognition or apology from the staff. I had the basil chicken, and if it were not for the extreme amount of salt it might have little flavor at all. Veggies were mush, chicken was dry. Tried the pad thai that my sister ordered, terrible as well. Prior to finishing the meal I started feeling nauseous and was knocked down by the time we got back to my sister's house. Had to go right to bed to recover, digestive issues for the next couple of days. Discussed my experience with a friend who lives in this area and he indicated this used to be his favorite Thai restaurant, but he noticed the quality and service has gone downhill. We live in the near by city of Geneva, but we travel a little extra to get to Thai Village in Batavia-one of our favorite "ports of passage." Their yellow curry is full of flavor and is a regular take out item. Their Kung Pao Noodles is also very good. The Tom Kha soup is full of flavor but a little idiosyncratic compared to other Thai versions I have had. I haven't tried their menu extensively but I think you will enjoy your choice. I've eaten here several times and absolutely LOVE everything I've ordered! We often start with the spring rolls in a delicious sweet sauce. My favorite is the pad thai w/ shirmp, but I douse it with their special hot sauce (a mixture of sweet chili sauce and something else). For those reviewers who comment on the awkward service and linguistically challenged staff...seriously, relax! You're being served phenomenal, traditional food from authentic family. I recently ordered take out here. It was open late and pick up was super easy. They did not offer curbside pick up, but when you walk in all the orders are on the table. Grubhub orders were on one table while phone in orders were at another table. Everything was very organized and if you did have trouble finding your order, the staff was very friendly and able to give you directions. I ordered the Pad Thai which is my favorite order at any Thai restaurant. I thought the dish was fairly good here. The regular size is plenty and unless you are splitting with two other people, there is no need to get the bigger one. In fact, the regular size and the bigger size aren't that different. Also, the teriyaki chicken was pretty good as well. It came with a decent amount of veggies and rice which is nice to have. Overall, I would come here again for pick up. I might want to try something else and see how it compares to the Pad Thai, but I don't think I would be too disappointed. read more

We ordered a bunch of food for delivery using Grubhub. Food came in a timely manner and everything was still warm. We ordered Chickens Pad see ew, chicken lad nar, chicken pad thai, chicken satay, chicken panang curry, chicken spinach noodle and the fried bananas for dessert and thai ice coffee for drinks. Can you tell we like chicken? :). They used american broccoli for all the dishes which we didn't care for. It still tasted good but the american broccoli definitely makes it less authentic tasting. The chicken curry was a little watered down and I'm used to a thicker sauce. I liked the fried bananas but it was a little too mushy inside. The thai iced coffee was also a little too watery even after mixing it. The prices were ok and the overall preparation and delivery was fast. I guess it's ok if I don't want to drive to some better thai restaurants that are further away. read more

They must have their reasons, but it seemed unecessary. -Drafty from the vents -Waitress was nice and also attentive, though not personable. I guess it depends on the customer, but I like engaging service more than minimal, robotic service. -There was a short hair embedded in the mango sticky rice... I had already gotten halfway through the dessert at that point; aside from the hair, it tasted good. Over all, the experience was lacking. It is so disappointing and annoying to take the time to write this. And it's not about the food that i will never step my food there it's the person who takes orders for take out. It has happened 3 times and 3 times too many!!!! Literally how the conversation went on the phone while ordering. Me: hello I'd like to place an order for crab Rangoon, cucumber salad, and 2 chicken pad Thai and spicy Basel shrimp. Also I've placed and order before and you gave me the wrong food. So please make sure it is chicken pad Thai the entre. The idiot on the phone : Oh we don't place wrong order, it pronounced PAAAAD THEEEAAAY. We didn't place anything wrong. They have a vast menu, they are fast regardless of crowd size, the food is delicious, and the prices are shockingly reasonable for what you get. The byob with only a $2 corking fee is amazing.....I hate corking fees but who can argue with $2. This is a must visit. read more
