Impromptu lunch date with a friend- she suggested Thai & I gave the two closest to school & neither of us had tried Thai Orchid, so we made a bee line. A few tables were occupied upon arrival, we were directed to an empty table and awaited our server. Initially- taking our order was slow and then my soup came out, but my friends appetizer didn't come until after our lunch arrived- and she was hungry and on her lunch break. Time was a priority for us & there wasn't much rush. I loved the wonton soup- great flavor, loved the bean sprouts in it. I took a little home so John could try. They've increased the prices on their menus from what was posted in Google, but that's to be expected with the inflation. The restaurant is a nice quaint store in the Publix strip mall area. It's clean and the gentle music they play makes it a nice spot where I think it'd be nice to go on a date. Service is prompt. They don't rush you to order. My friend has a problem. Of always getting lost no matter how close it is, and he was 20 min late, but they were so kind and weren't eager. We got here at 7pm on a Friday evening when ordering (after my friend got here). There were only 3 other tables filled and a couple of people who ordered takeout. So, it's not a super busy place. The tables are situated a little low so if you have back problems get a chair area and not a booth if you have back problems. Food: my friend ordered a summer duck, a duck with basil, and I ordered a nam tok, and a tom yum soup. It's very tasty and worth the price, very fair. I'd say the food is more Americanized than Thai. It's not as spicy or sour as what I'd expect from a typical Thai place. So, if you can't take spicy food, you can choose between mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot. Stopped here for takeout after a pedi next door and had drinks and an appetizer while we waited. The good- the food is always super yummy. We have ordered takeout before and tried various menu items from Pad Thai, to various curry meals and sushi. This time between us we ordered yellow curry, Chicken Pad Thai, crab rangoons (a fave, with curry inside), and sticky mango rice. I love all but the mango rice, not my thing at all- maybe the texture for a dessert- tasted like sweet rice. My neighbor loves it, so just my taste. There was a downside this time...we were sat by the hostess at the sushi bar and had to ask someone to take our order after sitting for a while. The to go food came out quickly, so much so that not only didn't we have our appetizer, we didn't even have our drinks. It wasn't full or nearly as crowded as it has been, so assuming our order was not rung in. At that point we would have went without the drinks and app. We will be back, but maybe pass on the drinks while we wait (although they were yummy). read more

So happy we were able to come across this place while looking for a later night eats. Thai Orchid is stylish and brighter and they updated their space from what I see in their prior pics. Our server was super nice and welcoming seeing it was less than an hour to close on a Monday night. I ordered the Thai Drunken noodles with shrimp (Pad Kee Mao), & my husband ordered the Pad Thai Chicken. They were quite tasty especially mean. His pad Thai was good, but too peanutty for me. I like Pad Thai a little bit sweeter. I loved my Drunken noodles I was disappointed I didn't have leftovers because it was that good. Definitely happy that our dinner in Jacksonville was a great one. I was in town to visit my sister and it's surprising that many (unless you want fastfood) close early and much earlier if you are doing Food delivery services. So one night when we just happened to be craving Thai food and came across Thai Orchid Restaurant. Initially we had planned to Door Dash the food, but the restaurant had stopped accepting orders through the app at around 7:45 but still accept phone in orders. Like most Thai restaurants, the price of the dishes depends on the protein you request. What we ordered: -Fried Rice with Chicken -Pad Thai with Beef -Drunken Noodle with Tofu -Thai Green Curry with Chicken Specialty Entrees: -Spicy Crispy Duck with Basil Sauce -Chicken Rama You can never go wrong with an order of Thai Green curry and Drunken Noodles although I would have preferred either Tofu or Shrimp as my protein for my Green Curry. The chicken was a bit dry. Their pad thai was good, but their Drunken noodles had so much more flavor especially with the basil. I would recommend the crispy duck; although, I think this would be a lot more crispier if I had eaten this at the restaurant rather than take out. Next time I would pass on the Chicken Rama. I came in for lunch and enjoyed my meal. There was a small lunch rush on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered the drunken noodle with chicken for about $11, which is a great deal considering inflation. Level 3 spicy provided an enjoyable amount of heat and the noodles were flavorful. Interior is nice; a coworker shared they must have redecorated a bit since she last visited. Greeted and promptly seated and not too long after placed the order: Appetizer: Salad Tofu Roll Entrée: Drunken noodle w/ Tofu with spicy level of 4/5 (just to jazz things up a bit) was placed. Now just enjoying the vibe as I chill... Salad Tofu roll came quick. Looked and tasted just as great! Now back to the chilling while I wait for my entrée. Thoughts run wild as I wait and drool . Only if the main entrée was just as good as the appetizer.. You gots to wait people..And it's here. I would say it's good overall but some how missed the mark. First of all, the pad Thai delight was out of this world. It was unlike any other pad Thai I've ever had. There was a thick and creamy peanuty?? sauce poured over a bed of deliciously flavored noodles. It was unreal. I'm a huge fan of spicy food and I can say this dish really delivered (asked for max spice but if you want it to be milder I'm sure you can adjust!) The other items were also good but I'm giving this place the 5 stars because of the pad Thai delight. Don't think I can go back to regular pad Thai after that. Chicken satay was pretty run of the mill, nothing special. If you're in the mood for satay, then you won't be disappointed or surprised. Panang curry w chicken wasn't as spicy as I would have liked but it still had flavor. The rice was a bit dry but we did go at a weird time (almost at the lunch closing time) so I have a feeling it wasn't fresh. I'll definitely be coming back to this place. They asked about Thai, so I went to Yelp and found Thai Orchard Restaurant, which was less than a mile from my home. First impressions, I loved the decor! The restaurant had a warm and cozy ambience. I tried a Thai beer called Kirin Light, which was refreshing and tasty. Not too hoppy like the beer my friend had called Chang. We ordered fried wontons with chicken as an appetizer. I have never in my life tasted such an amazing wonton. It was light and fluffy, yet crispy. I could have eaten this as a main course it was so good! And my friends agreed. For dinner I ordered the Duck Summer which had pineapple, red peppers in a red curry sauce. Such a deliscious and unique dish. The duck was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The curry sauce was indescribably wonderful, with a sweetness and a kick! I I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes duck. I also tried both of my friends dishes. The lunch portion for $9 included six jumbo shrimp nestled in noodles, sauce, and veggies left me fat and happy - although I was fat before I got there so...... Service was fast and friendly in a intimate sized dining room. The server was accommodating and checked on me twice during my meal. I would compare the ambiance to that of other Thai restaurants when I first walked in. We were seated quickly and given a menu. First item to catch my eye was Pad Thai... yes just like everyone else it's a go to item! But I passed and order Basil fried rice with shrimp and beef. The heat level here - So no two Thai places or chefs serve up the equal heat levels. I ordered the 2 out of 5 and my friend 4 out of 5 as he said he loves heat. We quickly received our meals and oh my the fragrance was amazing. I ate a bite and immediately hit the border of my heat ceiling. My friend took a bite and said, "Mistakes were made." Needless to say we both will go lower on the heat scale next time we visit, beware but delicious! Thankfully we had Thai Coffee and Thai Tea to help. Food- We got the fried wonton appetizer and the chicken pad Thai. The portion was good for two and extremely and very fresh and delicious. This was by far one of the most flavorful, creamiest well presented pad thai's I'd ever had. The fried wontons were so delicious as well. The pad Thai had crushed peanuts on the side with lemon and sprouts. I love how they let you mix it yourself so you can add to your liking. Asked the sis what she wanted for her birthday dinner. She said Thai and I instantly knew we had to go to Thai Orchid Restaurant. They had THE BEST PAD THAI IN JAX and I will die on this mountain. As this was her birthday dinner and she'd never had thai food before, we ordered way too much food to celebrate. We started off with the krab rangoons and shrimp spring rolls. I love the thai cream cheese they stuff with the krab and the spring rolls were fresh and crispy just as they should be. For our main course we split different entrees so we could try a bit of everything. We got the tofu red curry, the crab fried rice, and the shrimp pad thai. I wish there had bit more jasmine rice served with the curry, but putting the curry onto the crab fried rice was actually really tasty and I would recommend this so much. My roommate and I went here on a Friday night - a few couples were also dining in. Staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Panang Curry while my roommate had the Red Curry. The menu options were plentiful. Both dishes were very tasty! This has become our new favorite Thai restaurant! I was able to get 1/2 chicken + 1/2 veggies in my bowl which was great. So here is the skinny, we had a girl from Arizona stay with us all summer and as our going away present, we took her to her favorite restaurant in Jax, yes, The Thai Orchid. My wife tried the Pumpkin Curry and loved it, while I tried the Pad Thai with Lemongrass Chicken served over Peanut Sauce. Since I am a literal guy, I thought Chicken, then sauce, then Pad Thai as it was described. What I got was a gallon of peanut sauce, over flavorless chicken over Pad Thai. Okay, the chicken just did not work, but the satay over Pad Thai was amazing. AMAZING! Even had a wonderful side of broccoli. Okay the uneven.....sadly it was the service. Several orders were mixed up, including my 10 year old's Pad Thai. She ordered it without spice and it was so spicy she was blotting her tongue with ice. Several other orders were mixed up too, but all were corrected, credit given and appropriate apologies made. This is a very good place. I think my 1st time eating at a Thai restaurant. It was my sister's birthday so we came as a party of 7. Right now seating is limited to booths of 4 due to the pandemic. They had a bigger booth closer to the window but for some reason the waitress said "it won't fit you." We're Filipinos, so we know how to squeeze a family. Nice of them to throw in an extra chair, though. The business wasn't too busy so we didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive. The service was polite and efficient. The food was awesome. I ordered a pork Yakisoba. My highlight would be the Thai coffee. I wish I could've ordered another but I was full. This is now at the bottom of my list. I've had issues with this restaurant before. My greatest complaint is the lack of honesty. I was really jonesing for some Thai food during this COVID-19 stay at home order. I have a favorite local place near my work office. But it's too far to bother with takeout right now. So I opted to try this place after reading all these great reviews. I ordered spring rolls, shrimp pad Thai, and some rice soup. Rice soup- a bit strange tasting sweet. Not quite what I am accustomed to for this soup. It was ok. Spring rolls- ok. 4 thin rolls about the size of a small cigar. Nothing spectacular. Tasted oily and like the fryer oil needed to be filtered and cleaned. Shrimp pad Thai- let down. Tasted like noodles coated in chili sauce. Nothing tamarind and fish sauce about it that's for sure. In my continued quest to try the various thai food restaurants Thai Orchid Restaurant was our most recent victim. Due to the current recommendations to socially distance- we ordered take out. The food arrived HOT and was well packaged with no leaks anywhere. For us it earned a solid 4/5 stars. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup w/ Chicken, Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoons, and Prig Pow with chicken. I ordered the Tom Yum at a medium spice level and it was milder than I anticipated. If you like SPICY food, I would recommend ordering a spice level up. I was disappointed that the soup wasn't more traditional style w/ lemon grass and tomatoes but nevertheless, it was quite tasty and I gobbled it right up! My hubby was very happy with his appetizers and meal- there were no seconds left from this meal!
