Hubby and I took our grandson here for lunch. This was our first time visiting Thai Orchid Restaurant found them on Yelp. Of course. Really loved the decor and we were greeted right away. I ordered the Pad Thai box. It came with ginger salad, spring rolls, shrimp Pad Thai. I enjoyed every bite. Food was very good and portion size plenty. I ended up taking some home. My Grandson also enjoyed his chicken lo mein. Hubby ordered the peanut chicken and white rice. Cleaned it to the plate! They have natural juices that a light and refreshing. Try the pineapple juice. Came for lunch, on a whim while in the area!! super friendly, clean and efficient! It's adorably decorated and has a quite a comfy feel! I note this because when we pulled in the parking is crazy and lots of people, but inside you immediately forgot the chaos outside!! So the next best thing was the food, absolutely delicious! Hot fresh and the flavors were amazing!! One of the best Thai restaurants in the area. My family and I go here and exclusively get the curry dishes. My husband and son love the green curry (Thai hot) and I order the red curry normally (mild). The aromatics and taste of the curry is amazing. My step daughter gets the pad Thai and she loves it. The service is quick and amiable. We have always enjoyed our dinners here and find ourselves dining here regularly. We will try other Thai places in the area and none can come close- either the restaurants are dirty, the service is horrible or the food is. I won't lie... I eat here at least once a week! I used to frequent another joint on Park Boulevard that closed down and this is the only one that I think can compete in town with their Penang curry. I usually order it with chicken but every once a while I will get the duck. They have some of the best prices in town hands-down! You get a cup of chicken and rice soup, an egg roll and A huge plate of Penang curry loaded with veggies for less than $10. It really can't be beat! Also the people that run the restaurant are so kind! Service is great, food is always fast and absolutely delicious! If you were in the Tyrone area or craving some of the best Thai in town, I definitely recommend checking this place out! We started with cheese rangoon, and I tried their red curry chicken. The food came out super fast, and everything tasted great. Was disappointed with to go order of Pangang Curry's. Spoke to attendant and asked for mild. She made note even added pineapples for extra price. The Curry came in a soup container very thin with rice on the side. It was fire hot. Very brothy and only the heat was taste able. Also ordered crab ragoos that were cold. $51 dollars was not a good dinner. Panang is always creamy and mild heat when done right unless ordered hot. Very disappointed. This was our first time here. The ambience is lovely, nicely decorated & very clean. Our server was attentive & courteous. I ordered Red Curry with chicken. The chicken was overdone, there was an over abundance of water chestnuts (I'm not sure this is the correct term-they're crunchy & cut like matchsticks?), just 4-5 slices of bell peppers & that was it. Very bland, lacking essential flavor layers & a little too sweet. I ate very little. I also realized after the fact that our server never asked what spice level I wanted. I usually go medium. This had no spice & lacked flavor as well. My husband had the sushi. The eel roll was good, but he then ordered the Snow Sea combo & felt the sauce overwhelmed the roll & made it mushy. My hunt for awesome authentic Thai food in St Pete continues. I pass here on a regular basis, and from the outside,​ it doesn't​ look like much; it blends into a nondescript strip mall sandwiched between​ a Mexican grocery and bagel shop. Inside is warm and cozy with some nice Thai artwork. The staff is friendly and attentive​. I went right in the middle of lunch and it seems they have a nice group of regular customers; as it was more crowded than expected. {I also had to laugh at the number of people I overheard who wanted lunch combinations but wanted to swap out EVERYTHING}. I ordered a Thai Coffee which​ was rich in color with plenty of evaporated milk but it really needed a little cardamom​. I ordered the lunch combination with Panang Chicken Curry ($6.95). The combination comes with an "Appetizer and Soup of the Day". The appetizer was a single spring roll which was crispy but nothing like the a la carte spring roll listed on the menu; the filling was bland with no texture. The soup of the day was chicken rice and again nothing like the a la carte menu; it had rice and chicken with a couple of​ green onion slices. Flavorful but boring. The Panang chicken curry was a decent size for the price, a good amount of tender chicken with some cabbage​, green beans, ​broccoli​, ​ and squash. It was fresh and creamy, but I had ordered it Thai hot, and it was mild and required a good bit of fish sauce and Thai peppers to flavor it up. Since our favorite thai restaurant in St Pete closed recently we are in search of a new spot. Came in for lunch and ordered Pad Thai. Its our favorite dish and we figure that if you make that well, the other dishes will be as well. The spring rolls and soup were good, but the Pad Thai was a big let down. It was the sugary sweet americanized version and not authentic at all. I have been to Thailand several times and desire the authentic taste. Basically this comes from using fish sauce in cooking and not making it too sweet. Will probably not return unfortunately. read more

Come here for lunch often! From 12-2 they have really good deals. I always go for the Panang curry and the thai iced tea which are both delicious with just the right amount of serving! I did come for dinner once but the dinner portion of the curry was more in price but around the same portion just served in a nicer dish. Totally great for lunch! read more

Very disappointed. Ordered take out. 2 Pad Thai, 2 Thai Basil Noodle., spring rolls, and crab rangoon. The Pad Thai tasted like it was made with some type of a sauce from a can and it was dry. Neither of the thai basil noodle dishes had noodles, they sent rice. Mine had 3 little pieces if chicken, couple slices of red pepper and what seemed like a whole onion. The other one was the same, except it was with tofu, but only had about 5 pieces. They had no real flavor! Spring rolls ok and crab rangoon was filled with a curried cream cheese, no crab at all. Total bill was $65 and the portion size was a small to go container. It really looked like leftovers you brought home after eating at a restaurant. We will not be back! Way too many better places to choose from! read more

Thai Orchid is my go to Thai place in all of St. Pete. Maybe it's the nostalgia, since it's my dad who introduced me to it. Maybe it's the decor. I know for sure that it's definitely for their consistency and service! From the sushi, to their friend rice, and their variety of curries, I have never been disappointed. The best time to go would have to be lunch time, since prices are cheaper (for about the same amount of food as dinner) AND it comes with soup and crab rangoon. I ordered take-out today to satisfy my new years eve munchies. I ordered pad thai and 3 uncooked sushi rolls and on a whim I asked if they had papaya salad. I don't think I've ever seen it on the menu at any Thai restaurant I go to. They said it was seasonal but they had it today. I love papaya salad and this didn't disappoint. I ordered it Thai hot and it gave my lips a tingle for sure. I'm saving the pad thai and one sushi roll for tomorrow while I watch football bowl games. We were staying at a vacation rental in Boca Ciega and looking for a place for dinner. Luckily we chose the Thai Orchid. The restaurant is in an older strip mall which is a bit run down. Don't let that fool you. The restaurant inside is beautifully decorated in Thai style. There were 3 of us and we all ordered different dishes. To start we ordered chive dumplings. They were freshly cooked and came with a delicious sauce. We ordered pumpkin curry, fried snapper in garlic sauce and Massaman curry as our main courses. All 3 were delicious. There is a large menu and they also had specials so there should be something for everyone. The service was prompt and very friendly, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. If you like Thai food you really need to try the Thai Orchid! read more

While not my #1 favorite Thai place in Pinellas county, they run a tight ship and put out excellent food here. Various errands left me hungry and I came in on a lonely, rainy night to dine alone. The service was top-notch. They treated me like a king! My favorite Thai dish is "Amazing Peanut Sauce Curry." It is not on the menu here, or I would have likely given this place a full 5-stars. However, I ordered the "Peanut Honey stir fry with chicken" entree and it was very, very good. Totally unique to anything I've ever had at any Thai place! I find myself craving it even as I type this... So I plan to come back. I may even have to consider what is my favorite Thai entree now? While I've been in love with "Amazing Peanut Curry" for over a decade, Thai Orchid's "Peanut Honey" may perhaps be even better?
