Great Thai food right here in Carson! We ordered the Pad See Ew and the Dearest Crab. The meal was awesome! The Pad See Ew was as always a crowd pleaser, quite tasty, and the Dearest crab was pork, chicken, shrimp and crab meat rolled into big fried balls of goodness on a bed of shrimp fried rice. We ordered Thai Tea for our drinks and the drinks were awesome! Perfect amount of creme and great flavor! The tables have nice glass tops and the atmosphere is really laid back and comfortable. At the end of our meal we were given wet naps which I ALWAYS love getting to wash my hands with, they leave my hands feeling clean and refreshed. read more

I think I only go back to this place because of the childhood memories I have from it. It's probably the first place I've had Thai food at. Over the years, I think my taste buds have evolved to a more refined level and I now have a better understanding of what food should taste like. Although I think the other locations may have better flavor than this particular one (although you would think they all have the same recipe), I come here out of convenience when I crave an S-1 or S-8. For those who've been here more than once, you know what I'm talking about! LOCATION: It's in a small strip mall which barely has anything interesting in it. It's on Carson St and Grace Ave. FOOD: -Chicken Soup A La Thai BBQ: Or if you know your Thai food, it's also known as Tom Ka Khai (sp?). It's my mom's favorite...chicken, mushrooms, tomato, in a coconut, lemon grass soup. The only bad side is that it's all dark meat, so no chicken breast. (3 stars...there are better places that have this) -Cucumber Salad: if you order S-8, it comes with a small side. However, you can get it as a side item too with a bigger serving enough to share. It's fresh cucumber in a sweet vinegar sauce with cuts of jalapeno. If you don't bite on the pepper, it's not spicy at all. It's a light clean taste. (4 stars) -Pad See Ew: I just like this dish in general. Something about the flat noodles with scrambled egg and broccoli combination. (3 stars) -BBQ Chicken combination: Better known to regulars as S-1. It's bbq grilled half chicken with red rice served with two shrimps. Theres a sweet dipping sauce that comes with it. (3.5 stars) -Beef or Chicken Sate combination: Better known as S-8: I usually get half and half so I get to taste both. It too comes with red rice and two shrimps with a side of peanut sauce (4 stars) -Dearest Crab combination: I'm not sure what number this one is but I've only tried it once and it was rather disappointed. It's basically a big ball of ground crab with other ingredients to make it more hearty. It's then dipped in batter and deep fried. It's good, but I can't really taste the crab so it defeats the purpose. (2.5 stars) SERVICE: It's not that great. Service is slow. You usually have to flag them down for refills on water. They aren't very friendly as well. I've tried other things, but it escapes my mind so it probably wasn't amazing. They have lunch specials during the week. I'm not in the area during lunch time during the week, so I never take part. It's a decent place if you are close and just want Thai food. This is actually the only thai restaurant I've been to so I can't compare it to anything :( hopefully I can try other thai places in the future! FOOD: (The following dishes are my favorites) -Beef and chicken satay This dish comes with shrimp fried rice and two sauces. The rice is flavorful and has an orange color to it with egg and shrimp. I love love their satay!! I think it's marinated with curry? I'm not sure but it's soooo delicious! I prefer the beef because it is very tender and just melts in your mouth. They pair so well with their peanut sauce! I don't know the name of the other sauce but it is sweet, vinegary, and a little spicy. In this sauce, there are small chunks of cucumbers, red onions, and jalepeños. The downside is that it's always a hit or miss with this dish. Sometimes the satays come out perfect, other times they are dried out and tough to eat! -Shrimp pad thai Omg where do I even start?! Just get this noodle dish and you won't be disappointed! It consists of shrimp, egg, bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, noodles, and the pad thai sauce which I have no idea what it's made out of, haha. Anyways, I love to top this off with more of their delicious peanut sauce and crushed peanuts! -Fried shrimp My family and I always order this appetizer. The ratio of shrimp and crispy breading is perfect! Dip it in the sweet chili sauce that comes with it and chase it down with slices of cucumbers. The freshness of the cucumbers adds a nice touch because it cuts through the heaviness of the fried shrimp. -Ribs I don't think this is a thai dish but it is very good! It comes with four large tender ribs, shrimp fried rice, and a sweet pickled cucumber sauce. The ribs come off the bone easily and is an all around great dish to eat. -Masaman curry I love curries so I was excited to try this! It is a beef curry with coconut milk and chunks of potatoes! When I took my first bite, I was in curry heaven! Downside is that it was a small portion compared to the other dishes D; SERVICE: I never had a problem with their staff. They are friendly check up on you to ask if the food is good. AMBIANCE: Not the best, they can use some remodeling though. This place has been here forever, but it isn't one of my top Thai food places. Dishes are mediocre. Service is quick and employees are friendly. Inside is kind of cramped and has an old feel, as it is. I stay safe with fried rice and stir fried veggie dishes and only eat here now if friends insist. They're complaining how they thought they were going to be able to go home at 9pm but I had to come in and order. My friend use to come here a lot back in the day and highly recommended it, so here we for a late lunch. We both ordered their thai tea and an order of their spring rolls. The thai tea was sooo good and i liked they don't add whip cream on top. The spring rolls were crunchy and so good! I like the sauce they gave us. Our entrees, I tried BBQ chicken and it came with rice and salad. The chicken was good, not dry, but it was just OK. The rice was more exciting. Some of the best Thai bbq I've ever tasted, especially within striking distance of Long Beach. Both their bbq chicken and spare ribs are completely delicious. I don't know what it is about the shrimp rice they serve with all their dinners, but it really is the perfect compliment to their succulent main courses. Also, recently I took my friends and they gave high marks to the rainbow trout dish. As someone who takes his rainbow trout seriously, I'm looking forward to testing this assertion myself. read more

But after today's lack of customer service I would not come here to ever dine in again. we walk in, restaurant was full. girl at the desk said 15minute wait. we waited 15 mins then saw one table left ASSUMING, the other waitress would immediately clean up the table so we can get seated and order... but neglected us... managed to clean 3 tables at the same time... They have been consistently delicious with their food for the last 20+ years living here and is always a common destination for weekend lunches after church or the lazy nights when you don't want to cook. The Thai Original BBQ Restaurant in Cerritos is better than this one. Visited this location for the first time July 29, 2014, an hour before closing. The hostess and server were nice and understanding (better than the Cerritos location), but I would say the ambiance/food is better in Cerritos. Reasons: The last time we tried coming here, they were closed for renovations. (Yes we should have called, but even with calling there wasn't a message or an answer to notify us it was closed). We were seated on the fish tank side of the restaurant, this was our first time here but I couldn't tell what the renovations were exactly. Our utensils were oily with fingerprints, we asked for new ones. Some of the employees were singing and talking loudly, it was kind of weird in a restaurant setting to be so casual. In our order of Pad Se Ew we found eggshells (included in pictures). The cripsy duck is better at the Cerritos location, it was dry. The peanut butter sauce to go with the Beef Satay was watery. & lastly, I don't know if the prices have changed in general, but the entrees here are a dollar more than they are in Cerritos. Very candid in this review because I don't think we are coming back, instead I would recommend Sriracha Thai Restaurant (21950 Avalon Blvd Set I Carson, CA 90745) down avalon instead. Pictures will be included. Food was satisfying, but knowing the same restaurant in Cerritos does it better we will go to that one instead. & if we do want Thai food in Carson, we will be going to Sriracha instead. I've been a customer here for over 20 years. The food has always been delicious and has never changed. Depending on days, service can be excellent or can be horrible. We always order the beef satay, which typically comes with shrimp fried rice (dinner comes with 2 pieces of shrimp, lunch doesn't. Lunch special includes a side salad with an awesome honey dressing. Included is a peanut sauce and a vinegared cucumber serano chili condiment. I always love the food, but the amount has decreased quite a bit. Over the years the price has remained the same, but the skewers for the satay are less now than before. From what I remember, the beef satay used to come with 6 skewers and not just 4!! Because I regularly ordered over the years, and have always known what comes with the order, I didn't ask. Would've been a nice courtesy to have been told that the menu has changed slightly. Said no mistake that the food is great. I give 2 stars, not only because of the decrease of food amount, but because of what I heard while I was waiting for my food in the lobby..... Don't let the grade a outside for you just yet So after I paid, the young woman said that she would go in the back to put my food in a bag. When she disappeared into the kitchen, I heard a loud scream. One of the guys kind of teased her. The second woman from the front disappeared into the back. I then heard the first young lady say "There was a small mouse!!" Not 100% sure what I heard is what I heard, but I can't help but think over and over, to make sure I heard correct. To be honest, I'm surprised they received an A?! I continue to buy food here to go, because I know what I'm going to get is good food. But there have been a few times where my family has come here, and we've seen a mess. Once we even saw one of the cooks napping in the booth. So yes, maybe not the cleanest of clean. I keep forgetting how the service and quality here has declined so much throughout the years. Just picked up dinner for the family tonight and ordered the bbq chicken dinner and the bbq ribs dinner. The chicken breast was basically cut in half (not sure what they did with the other half?) as well as the wing looked as if they saved it for the employees or for another order and the bbq pork ribs were all bones. Thai tea sticker says "always fresh" which is funny to me because the boba was far from fresh...very hard in texture and with an old taste. I'm not sure if this place is under new management but all I've seen here were Filipinos. It's very sad to me when your own people cheat their own community. Terrible. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. Each dinner platter is about $15+ too definitely not worth it. Food was decent, I came here to celebrate my moms birthday, I'm a full time college student so going out to eat was a treat for me as I don't t have a lot of extra money. My meal was $38 and I left $40 and we were on our way out and the waitress stopped us and said we need to tip, I told her that I covered the cost of our meal and I couldn't afford to leave more. I would have to say I don't like to eat at this place the location is fine local to me but the same decor and so much waiters not enough service anyway the food is super good lol being that my family orders the same thing every time only chili beef rice and Thai tea but what is sad is they raised the prices and I wouldn't mind paying it since it's well worth it to me but they have now also change the portion sizes to smaller sizes on the chili beef which sucks. I also address this issue with the guy who takes orders since I have no idea who to complain to he said so many customers have complained and even the employees think it's an issue. It's fried tofu squares, with sweet peanut sauce. Tastes awesome. They also have bobas, thai iced tea with bobas are ok. I always order bobas as my dessert. I just didn't like my boba the last time. Tastes like it has been in the water for so long, it hasn't got that right consistency of a boba. I didn't finish it. The place is quite very simple...yes they have cheap interior. But I'm there for the food. Servers are indeed (like) always in a hurry. But they'll give you water refills or take-out box or anything you need if you just call for them. Hey guys! Ended up in the Carson area today and started craving Thai Food & decided to pop in to this tiny tasty Thai treasure! Well unfortunately I came about 4pm & lunch had ended at 3pm, lunch specials are 1/2 price usually $7.95-$9.95. No worries... My waitress was so pleasant & attentive. Ordered the Shrimp Scampi ($12.95) & Thai tea. Very flavor comes with sauce on the side as well where you can drown your shrimp or fried rice in. Came here for dinner on a Friday with a party of 8. We were seated pretty quickly, not too busy inside, but they seated us in the back room. I think they forgot about us as we had to go get them to take our order. Food was decent. We got the shrimp fried rice, garlic short ribs, bbq spare ribs, bbq chicken, chicken satay, and glass noodle salad. As a Thai person, I've had really good Thai food in Hollywood so my standards are a little higher. My party seemed to like the food though.
