This is a welcome change from much of the offerings in Pigeon Forge. Tom Yum Goong was ok, no complaints though it did not quite measure up to what I loved in Malaysia. The Beef Basil stir-fry (which is called Pad Gra Prow elsewhere) and Drunken Noodles (chicken), were done well with the right amount of heat for the medium requested. We found an abundance of basil leaves in both, significantly more than most Thai restaurants. Our waiter used the bare minimum of syllables to obtain our order, and the meals were brought out of the kitchen by a runner. If you are looking for good Thai food in PF and don't desire a relationship with your server, stop in. We were visiting the area and decided to get take out. There's several things I want to mention...first of all, I would not call this Thai food. Honestly, it's more of a Chinese restaurant trying to make Thai food. However, with that said, the food was really good. We got the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Masaman Curry. I will say I had a little sticker shock when the cashier told me my total. There are several menus are yelp and unfortunately I discovered the ones with the cheaper prices are outdated. Those three entrees cost me $42 (side note you, you should know they charge extra for paying with a credit card and will give a discount if paying cash). The Pad See Ew was really more like a Chinese chow fun, the Pad Thai was more like rice noodles with a peanut sauce, and the curry was really more like a stew with a peanut flair. The Pad Thai was meh, I definitely don't recommend it especially if you expecting Pad Thai. I do recommend the other two dishes though. They can be a little slow if they are busy or if you are in a big group, but like I said, small staff. They have been very friendly every time we have gone. It is best to go during lunch. The prices at dinner are a little steep. The owner is super friendly, I think he is there whenever they are open. At least he has been there any time we have gone. The atmosphere is a little hokey. We needed a break from the traditional country fried foods of PF and Gatlinburg and Yelped Local Thai and Indian cuisine. We decided on Thai Palace. We arrived around 5:30pm so they weren't open long and we were the first to arrive. This has been a very slow week for tourist so no worries. We started with the cheese rolls and veggie spring rolls with sweet n sour sauce. Both rolls were perfectly crispy and tasty. The sauce was also very good. While the cheese roll was good, it was different than what we are custom to with the Thai wonton type Rangoon or cheese roll but it was the closest thing they offered to the same. For entrees we had the Pad Thai and the Massaman beef curry. Medium spice which was pretty mild so we asked for extra spice on the side. They brought two small bowls of chili paste and red pepper flakes and we were able to add just the right amount of spice to get our sinuses flared up without sacrificing any taste buds! It was great. If anything the Pad Thai was slightly dry but honestly not worth complaining about. The food is a little on the sweet side but the extra spice knocked that right out. Desert menu was lacking with only offering one item. We were hoping for some sticky rice and mango but were told it's out of season. We get this a lot at other Thai places tho. Thai Palace is a great alternative to the typical fried chIcken offerings of Pigeon Forge. We would def come back. Also, side note- the place was very clean., the utensils and all were very clean. It was way too watery. And they didn't bother to tell me they were out of avocado until I noticed it was missing from the dish. Others who ordered spicy basil noodles were happier with their dish. Interesting restaurant also sells handbags and such. Only the owner and one waitress are severing the people, so it's kind of slow. Probably only on back in the kitchen too. I wanted some Asian food after eating mostly fried vacation foods in the area. We ordered take out. I had the eggplant Thai Basil. It wasn't spicy or even slightly spicy. Although there were plenty of veggies in the dish, there was only three little pieces of eggplant. The whole Point of the dish is eggplant. So it was very disappointing. Tasty, but overpriced. Coming from Northern VA we were excited to find a Thai restaurant near the Smoky Mtns. We ordered takeout, two dishes with tofu, that were nearly $13 each (more expensive than a nice Thai restaurant in D.C.) and they only had 8 tiny pieces of tofu and a bunch a filler veggies, like cabbage. The crispy rolls taste more like Chinese spring rolls, than Thai. The sauces were delicious, which is why I'm giving 4 stars, but the value for money would make me think twice about coming back. read more

While visiting my Mamma in Abingdon, VA, we took a roadtrip to Dollywood (which is pretty amazing in its own right, by the way). In the park we stuffed ourselves with amusement park grub, but upon leaving decided that Asian fare would be a nice change from the day's pace. We were so glad (and honestly, a little surprised) to find Thai Palace. On the main drag to DW in Seiverville, in a strip mall, unassuming. But the food was delicious. The owner met us at the door, and was so sweet and inviting. I had catfish with a pepper sauce. Mother and StepPaPa stayed the safe "pad thai" route, which is never my first choice, but was truly excellent. The only uncomfortable/surreal element to the dining experience was the fact that the sound system was stuck playing one song on repeat during the entire meal. I don't know why they didn't notice, because it was driving me insane. Ah, but the spring rolls! My wife and I decided to check this place out while visiting Gatlinburg. We stopped here on our way back to Fort Campbell, and had pretty low expectations being from California, where ethnic food is everything. And we pretty much knew what we wanted to eat as she got back so we ordered our food. I ordered the Pad Thai, which to my surprise was pretty good! It was spicy, like I asked. It had great flavor, and come out sizzling hot, like coming off the grill? Pan? You know what I mean. I completely forgot what my wife ordered so I'll just skip to dessert. We ordered some kind of bananas wrapped and deep fried, served with ice cream. It was good! I've had the same dessert multiple times and I'm a banana person, so there was no way I'd not like it. Overall the place was great. My only complaint, and reason to not give this place 5/5 was the price. No where on the menu do they mention a price for their foods. Our total was $38.00 for 2 noodle plates, 2 tap waters, and a dessert. I figured it'd be somewhere in the mid or even high 20's, but 38.00 is ridiculous. read more

What good restaurant sells out of things as simple as Cream Cheese Rangoons and Chicken Satay? 2. The server looked and acted worn out. He moved slow. He had to be asked multiple times for something as easy as getting us soy sauce. 3. They brought out 2 people's main course, and then took over 10 minutes to bring out the other 2. My salad came another 10 minutes later, AFTER the main courses were served. 4. The Pad Thai was dry and I would rate it a 2 on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. A good Thai establishment should at least be able to get Pad Thai right! 5. The curry dish my husband ordered, while it tasted good, it was a very small portion for the price. At first, my family and I were a little nervous to try the food here as we are on vacation and needed to have a quick lunch before going horseback riding across the street. We ordered from the lunch menu and it was amazing! The kids ordered pad Thai, without the spice and they loved it. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, the pad prik chicken and the cashew nut. All were so good! If you don't like spicy, you can ask for it without. All the entrees, except for the pad Thai come with a side of white rice that tastes amazing with the Thai sauce from the chicken. The bathrooms and inside of the restaurant were clean.
