Great food, great service, nice location, easy to park. We had the duck curry (excellent, with lots of duck), Pad Thai (excellent, with lots of shrimp) and pork Larb (excellent - would definitely order again. It was more than enough food for two people, but I also like ordering a bit extra. The waitress was great, and fun to interact with. Both my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves. I was going to give it four stars, but I think that I will bump it up. Four and a half woud be most accurate, but I am going to round up just because everything as a whole was so well done. Thai Paradise is the best thai in San Clemente. Before discovering the restaurant through google maps, we would eat at the thai restaurant (which will remain unnamed) on Del Mar. One visit to Thai Paradise and we were hooked. Not only was the ambience better, but the host/waiter/Mr. Everything is so welcoming and comedic that we were compelled to revisit to see him. (you know who I am talking about- he works basically every day). The prices are reasonable and there is ample parking. I'd like to give them 4 stars, however they mixed up my order and gave me "mild spicy" on a dish that should have been medium, and "medium spicy" on a dish that should have been mild. Total disappointment. Thinking the good reviews are fake. Duck curry was gamey skin was flavorless, few ingredients of merit. No authentic Thai taste. The Place Rad Prik (pompano fish with chili) truly an awful rendition of this dish.the skin was no crisp the brown sauce was right out of a bottle, and the fish, I KID YOU NOT had less than 3 tablespoons of meat per side. Easily less than 2.5 ounces of meat on that fish for a whopping $18.00 and the restaurant said " the fish cost us $7" so I suppose if the fish gets more expensive eventually you will only get 2 small bites of fish for $18 as it was you could not have had a full mouthful out of it. It was like an emaciated piranha that had not eaten for months.MY GF said the fish was really really pathetic. We paid - tossed the dishes back and left I don't think we could have ever been more annoyed. As for atmosphere the place gets a zero. Young staff could not give a crap either, usually I get better treated from my own generation. The really old lady who ran the place offered no solution. AVOID AVOID AVOID. read more

I think the food here rocks my socks, and it's pretty close to my house. The TOM YUM soup with Shrimp is some of the best I've had. The sautee Chicken w/rice (which is my thai food staple) is always moist and the peanut sauce Mmmm Mmmm MMM! This place is hidden in a white office building on the ground floor. I would recommend ordering take away since the dining room only has 8 small tables. I would also recommend ordering in advance over the phone since there is limited seating to wait for your order. Ordered the red curry lunch special, the taste was excellent and the portion was average. It came with white rice, cabbage salad, some fried thing that tasted sweet like a dessert. I have been going to Thai Paradise since it opened, more than ten years ago. This was actually my first introduction to Thai food, and it has pretty much never let me down. The food is always good. The Tom Kar soup (coconut milk soup) in particular is the best I've had pretty much everywhere (I can't say whether it's the most authentic, but it's delicious). The noodles are good (I usually get Pad Thai or Pad See Yew), and so is the curry. The prices have gotten a little steeper over the years, but I think that's acceptable and expected. I was picking up the phone to order Thai food from someone else and I decided to find a new place and went to Yelp. All I can say is that this was the best Thai food I have ever had. The sauce was amazing! I even froze the half I did not eat and it tasted just as good a few days later. I am a school teacher of 28 years and I have NEVER been accused of being an easy grader. With this Thai restaurant the food was so good that they get extra credit to make up for the the less than fabulous decor. You see, food is the reason I go out and unless the place is dirty, great food is all the ambience I need. This Thai food was spectacular with a perfect combination of complexity and saturation of flavors! The food was pretty good, but it wasn't enough to fill me up. At $12 for the dish, I certainly wasn't going to order another one. The staff was pretty friendly to us, but I saw something rare happen to someone else. The restaurant seating when we went was "seat yourself" style. A party of 3 women came in and sat themselves at a table that looked like every other. A server came up and asked them to move tables without giving them a reason, or really even doing it in a polite way. The women looked at each other in confusion and asked the server if there was something wrong with the table they picked, and the server just replied, "This one over here is better for you." So the women moved hesitantly. Weird, right? The location is a weird one and easy to miss. The dining room is very small, and maybe only 8 tables total. It has a cheesy decor that makes for a cheap and low-class atmosphere, which makes it difficult to understand why they are charging so much for their small portions. If the food was cheaper, and the service was faster, I would probably eat here again since it's so close to my house. However, I'll never go back here again unless someone else is buying or pays to pick up the take-out. read more

My office ordered take out for lunch from this place and no one was happy with their meal. First, we were told that it would be ready for pickup at 11:40 but didn't get our food till 12:40. It was like pulling teeth to get the lady at the counter to make separate orders. I told her that one of the orders was being paid by credit card and others were paying by cash. I'm on a huge Thai food kick right now, and Thai Paradise did the job. It was my birthday and my husband picked this spot after searching yelp for Thai restaurants. I'm so glad he chose this place. The place is tiny and if it wasn't for the "Thai Food" sign on the sidewalk we may have missed it. We were greeted right away and brought to our table. They asked how we found out about them and told them yelp. This seems to be the norm since the table behind us said the same thing. The owner was very friendly and joked with us and others every once in awhile. I ordered the Thai Ice Tea and loved it. My husband got a beer but it seems they don't keep everything in stock. We shared an order of the Chicken Pad Thai and the Red Curry with Chicken. The food arrived and it was piping hot. While its not the best Pad Thai I have had it is pretty high up there. The red curry was spicy and sweet. The prices were pretty decent and we walked out full and happy for about $30. This time I got the spicy pad thai with shrimp, which was just the right amount of spicy. My hubby got the panang curry, which is pretty spicy. It's like Flaming Hot Cheetos... spicy but hard to stop eating :) They have non-spicy stuff too, a variety of rice plates for example. My husband and I eat at Thai Paradise about 2-3 times a month. We love it because it is by far the most authentic Thai food around at some of the most reasonable prices. We have both traveled in Thailand and have taken cooking courses there and Thai Paradise delivers on all the wonderful flavors that Thailand has to offer. We love their Pork Larb and Green Papaya. Their curries are devine especially the green & panang and I love the crispy duck.
