Unfortunately, our experience at Thai Pho Mekong was very disappointing. We came as a group of 14 people, and a few members of our party were still on their way. When the waitress came to take our order, we explained that we were still waiting for the rest of our group. Her response was very rude. She said, "You told me 15 minutes, and now you want another 30. That's too long. If I had known that, I wouldn't have seated you." She also insisted that we order at least four meals immediately and even told me to call one of the people who hadn't arrived yet to ask what they wanted to order. We understand that restaurants need to keep service moving and that they have policies to follow. However, the way we were treated was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. The food looked delicious, and we were genuinely looking forward to dining there. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we decided to leave without eating. I hope this review encourages management to reconsider how customers are treated, especially larger groups. Great customer service can make all the difference. read more

I finally had a chance to try this place out. I did a carryout order and got the spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, and the papaya salad. By default the chicken pad Thai comes spicy, which I did not know, and it might have been a little hotter than I preferred. Otherwise, the papaya salad was on the light side for flavor, and I like it to be a little bit stronger. I did appreciate that the spring rolls come with both types of dipping sauce, the peanut and the fish sauce. I prefer other Thai food in the area and maybe would try the pho which could be more of their specialty. read more

Decent Food, But Poor Service and Cleanliness We stopped by for lunch. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating for both small and large groups, though the tables are a bit small. As vegetarians, we appreciated that they made substitutions for us, but the server lacked menu knowledge. Every question we asked had to be relayed to the chef. Here's what we ordered: * Tom Yum Soup: Very tasty. * Dang Penang Curry with Tofu: Decent but on the sweeter side. * Thai Mango Tofu: Way too sweet for our liking. * Basil Fried Rice: Just okay. There was hardly any basil, mostly large stems. We asked for plates to share, and were given tiny saucers. When we asked for larger plates, the server said they don't have big dinner plates, and only had a few quarter plates left, which they had to save for other reasons. The service was disappointing. The staff were stingy with napkins, and when we asked for more, they said four napkins were enough for four people. We had a few leftovers and asked for three boxes, but the server seemed annoyed and made us feel uncomfortable. Cleanliness was a major issue. The restroom was dirty, had no hand soap, and the toilet paper holder was broken, causing the rolls to fall on the floor. I'd give cleanliness 2 stars, and only 1 star for the restroom. We got the pho and the vermicelli bowl. The pho was mediocre tasting, and the vermicelli bowl just came with noodles and meat with zero veggies or pickled veggies which is odd for a vermicelli bowl. The service was also slow and although I commend the two servers for working the entire restaurant, I will say you can see they were visibly frustrated and short when we asked for napkins and extra limes for the pho. We loved this place! I think the inside was kept clean and a good place for dine in. They have large tables for families. Spring rolls were a huge hit and especially loved the peanut sauce. The rolls were pretty large too. Thai tea was sweet and great accompaniment for my Basil Fried rice which was pretty spicy (6/10). My family ordered Pad See Ew and for their first time trying the food, it was a huge hit. The house special rice was also great with a variety of meats mixed in. This is my go to spot for Pho in Holland. Honestly, there aren't very many in town to choose from, but I have yet to have a bad experience here so I just keep coming back. When a restaurant gives you the same food experience every single time it fosters trust. I can recommend this place for Pho without hesitation. We were in on a Sunday afternoon and they were fairly busy. We were seated quickly, our order was taken and the food was coming out all within about 10 minutes or so. Now, the location and decor give divey vibes, but I learned a long time ago that some of the best gems are divey. It was clean, just maybe a little drab and old. That didn't bother us at all though because we were there for the good food. I got the Pho Combo (I get this every time) and my wife tried the Tom Yum soup. They have like three sizes for the Pho up to extra large. That's what I went with because I was super hungry. I did end up taking a container of leftovers home. My wife liked the Tom Yum soup which has a bright orange Thai sour broth with vegetables. They brought it out to the table in a metal container with a heating element under to keep the soup hot. I tasted it and it reminded me of lobster bisque. Not in flavor but in richness and consistency. This is the kind of soup that needs something to balance the richness, like bread or crackers or something like that. But....for me...it's all about the pho here. read more

One star because we found some sparkly non edible items in our takeout pineapple fried rice. To me that just means their kitchen isn't sanitary. Our fried rice was mushy, I ordered shrimp and saw about four pieces. We also ordered fried calamari that was disappointing as well. Calamari was soggy. I wish I took the chance to take pictures of the food but we were all so hungry and eager to eat that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to! I ordered the fresh spring roll which is my go-to at any Thai Place and I judge the spring roll by their peanut sauce. The peanut sauce that came with my fresh spring roll was incredible it wasn't too salty and it was so creamy and paired well with the spring roll. A couple things to keep in mind: make sure you know your spice level and communicate that well with your server. One of the members of our party ordered a spice level of 3 out of 6 and it was pretty hot. You can always add spice but it's harder to take away. We enjoyed the food and service and hope to come back again and enjoy other items on their menu. read more

December 3, 2024. Around 2pm Came in with a friend and there wasn't anyone in the restaurant. Waited at the door for like 5 mins so we went in to sit a the booth for someone to come out. Just a back surgery so I didn't want to stand up too long since it still hurts. A younger man probably around late teens or early 20s came and told us to go back and wait by the door to be seated. We were confused so still went along with him and then he took us to a different seats. I told my friend that what's the point of having us go back to the door and sit us down elsewhere. He came back to us with water and told us that if we're not happy with his service we can go somewhere else. So we did. Never going back and will be telling everyone to not go to this place. Yummm! Everything I ordered was great and my husband was happy, what more can I ask for! We stopped spontaneously for some pho on this chilly spring day. My husband loves pho! We ordered the regular size but it was plenty for two. The brisket was tender and the broth was tasty and not too salty! I really liked the bits of cilantro thrown in there. I also got a Thai fried rice and crab Rangoon to go. The Thai rice has a hint of sweet in there but was mostly savory and full of meat! As someone who's had a lot of Vietnamese food, I'd say my experience here was pretty mediocre. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean but the flavors weren't doing much for me. The best thing were the chicken wings- golden and crispy. I got the pho and the broth could've done with more flavor and the meat felt over cooked but the noodles were done well. At only $8 a bowl, it's going to satisfy your cravings and make you feel good about supporting local but I wouldn't say you need to run here for the best bowl of pho. read more

My party of six ordered an array of appetizers and dishes.. all so beautifully crafted. I ordered the chicken wings to share amongst the group, seafood pho and Thai sesame chicken. The chicken wings had the crunch and crisp I'm looking for. Pairing it with the sweet chili sauce made it a work of art. The sesame chicken checked all the boxes-- saucy, crispy but tender inside. The food is really yummy and they can even make accommodations for gluten-free diners. I really enjoy their pad thai, red curry, and spring rolls. My husband tends to get any of the fried rice dishes or the drunken noodles, and he likes their mango sticky rice dessert. But the best part? The peanut sauce. Be sure to get here on the earlier side as they do have limited indoor seating so you'll want to avoid the long line that accumulates. (Also you'll want to finish dinner before 7:30 if you want to hit up the boba shop next door). We got the Tofu Tawt appetizer (A5), Pad Thai (P50), Sukiyaki (N26), and Pho Tai Gau (N33). I got the regular sized bowl of Sukiyaki instead of the large and still felt that it was very sizable. - tofu tawt: this was pretty good. The fried tofu had a really nice crunch and they will give you more curry if you run out. However, the curry didn't have much of a peanut taste and was more on the sweet side. The pickled vegetables were also nice but a little too sweet for me. - pad Thai: also fine. My brother reports that it was a little sweet for his liking and also notably lacked the peanut taste he was desiring. - Sukiyaki: enjoyed this a good amount. Or at least I thought I did, but I tried some of my dad's pho broth which totally overshadowed the sukiyaki broth (which is not as fragrant). However, I did really like it in the moments before I was enlightened by the other broth. - pho tai, gau: My dad is a pho fanatic and he quickly consumed his large bowl of Pho. He also did not have any criticism to give so I think it was a respectable pho in his eyes. As mentioned above, I also appreciated this dish. - The pho dishes came with a side of bean sprouts, sliced jalapeños, Thai basil, and lime wedges which we utilized. I'd also recommend adding some chili oil and sriracha for some heat if you're into that. A solid experience and I definitely would come back. read more

Found this place on Yelp while we were visiting Holland and decided to give it a try. When my husband and I first pulled up we weren't really sure if they were open. The windows are pretty tinted and NOBODY was inside other than a young man at the counter. Once we were seated the waiter was very attentive (maybe because we were the only table) and brought our waters quickly and took our order. Our food came out really quick and smelled amazing. My husband got one of the Pho and I got the drunken noodles. There were the thickest noodles I have ever seen! They were delicious, but very thick. We both really enjoyed our meals and I even had half to take home. In my opinion, if you are in the area and like Thai food you should definitely come here. P.S. I read the reviews for this restaurant and it sounded like a good place to try but I will not be going back. I ordered chicken pad Thai. It was all noodles with very little other ingredients and they omitted the peanuts on top and substituted a very small amount of peanut sauce. My husband's Sukiyaki was much too spicy even though I asked for mild. We had to throw the broth out. The spring rolls were very good and so were the portion sizes. read more
