We came here with the intention of getting sushi but because of the size and variety of the menu, we were swayed. I sort of regretted not getting the sushi though. The place was quite busy but they were able to seat us at a corner table. They have patio seating. They warn you ahead of time that if you opt for the patio seating, they cannot serve you alcoholic beverage there. Not a deal breaker for us but I was feeling a little chilly even with my sweater so we sat inside. Like I said, huge menu. Not just Japanese food but also some sort of a what I can only phrase a hybrid Asian dishes. For example, I ordered a spicy beef bibim noodle which was like a bibimbap and also like a ramen at the same time? It's hard to describe but it was good. It needed a little bit more salt though. The bowl came with a couple of couplings. Overall, the spice level was excellent for me. My husband had a bulgogi. Like I said, we came in with sushi in mind and somehow ended up with Korean/fusion dishes instead. Service was friendly but since they were busy, it took a little bit for our order to come. Okay, Mizu has become a fav for us. I'm happy to report I've now had several rolls from here, all which have been very tasty. Our favs: Volcano Roll 2 (regular is also good, but the sauce makes it with the '2') Both of the Diablo Rolls (The torched one just slightly more because of the smoky flavor it brings) Crunch Vegas - perfect balance of crunchy and creamy Crunch Munch 2 - love the crunch contrast on top with the sauces Rainbow Roll 2 - basic but done well Shrimp Tempura - love the simplicity with the tempura crunch Spicy Cali - the original roll that introduced me to the sushi world You do sit closely to the nearby tables. The sushi was very good. We got the specialty rolls and they were fantastic. We did however sit for probably 15 or more minutes before anyone even asked us what we wanted to drink, which was a shame. Especially since they were not very busy. The restaurant is nice though on the inside, and cool that they offer outside dining. Some of the decor felt Christmas inspired... it's early September, which is odd but whatever. Overall not too terrible, I'd go again on a date. But I wouldn't bring a 4 month old baby. read more

Mizu sushi is my go to for lunch or dinner when I'm in Downtown Holland. I came on a Friday night, this trip, and there was a 30 minute wait- put in my name and walked about the cute downtown area. Once I sat down, it took quick some time for the server to bring over water or greet me. I wasn't in a rush and did notice that they were VERY busy. They were kind and the food showed up very quickly. I got some nigiri, a roll, and seaweed salad. The fish quality is so fresh and the roll was delicious! It was disgusting and had no flavor. So we were asked how we liked it and we told him the truth and, but they did nothing about it. When the bill came, I asked for it to be removed and was told that the manager would not do it. So take a look at the attached picture would you eat that? This was by far the best sushi I have ever had. I had the nigiri and spicy salmon roll combo and it costed $25 which seemed moderately priced but then the pieces of fish on top were decently sized. The only downside to here is that the service was incredibly slow. We ended up having to go in and ask for our check because she never came back having getting our food. Our food took a while. We sat outside which was a little cold but would have been perfect if the sun was more out. I will say, we went during a very busy time so the service is understandable. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and it's a moderately standard sushi place, with a few unique role choices. It has always been good, but I've never been overly impressed with the taste, until today. Today, I got the Las Vegas roll, and it tasted like a delicious fried snack. I also got the "Pink Lady," which was good, but not like the other one. Service was just fine. The inside is pretty nice, and the patio is great on a nice day. Horrible service. They messed up my order. The food is good enough but I have never experienced such unprofessional, subpar service by mgmt. The hostess was so sweet and friendly she had to make excuses for mgmt. Poor communication. Staff not empowered to make basic decisions. I placed an order online I changed the order time once by phone at time of opening. The girl who answered the phone was efficient and kind. Hours later when I called to say I was en route the mgr was rude and said the order had been changed many times. Not true. I had a special request that they weren't able to accommodate. This place is about a 3.5 star experience for me. So it rounds up to 4-stars. But been here a couple of times, I know it's a local favorite. Last visit we tried the Spicy Shrimp Dish, a couple of the popular rolls, and an Unagi Roll. So the waitress recommended the Spicy Shrimp dish, and I saw pics on Yelp and it looked good, and I have to say we were very pleased. It lived up to the visuals, it was very flavorful, plenty of shrimp, I would make this my go-to dish and I highly recommend. That was 5-stars hands down. The rolls - one was a fire / tempura roll? I forgot the names - sorry. Another was some spicy roll. Those were meh. They were okay, not too impressed, I only had a couple of each and they took the rest home. That was a downer for me - after a spectacular shrimp dish I was expecting similar with the rolls but didn't match. The Eel / Unagi I got was okay. It was quite small, couldn't really get that bbq taste. It wasn't bad but it did not wow-me. They also have an Unagi on Rice dish that looks great, but since this mediocre experience I am not as excited to try it. I am afraid I'll get the same so-so experience and that dish is nearly $20 I think. I'll have to think some more about that. I wish they had fresh wasabi - - an option I have seen but their wasabi was just okay, the usual paste. Freshly grated wasabi is an awesome experience and would help take this to the next level, hope they look into that. I think on one visit I had the Green Curry - and it was okay. I think it was loaded with coconut milk and really thick whereas I prefer not as thick and more robust flavor profile. This place can fill up and when it does it gets loud here. That was kind of a bummer but it was something I could deal with. Waitress was nice, attentive, gave good recommendations. Third time here so I will likely go back - definitely for that spicy shrimp dish. I may pass on the rolls. And I will still have to think about ordering more Unagi. We went as a family to Mizu Sushi. Most of us had been there before and had good to great experiences. Not so this time! The Spicy Salmon roll was really bad, reeking of old oily fish smell. It was inedible. The soup was lukewarm. The Bulgogi was nearly half fat, and not well cooked (none of the fat was rendered), and had very, very little sauce. We order 3 Tempura Shrimp rolls, but received California rolls instead. Our server delivered the food and then was away from our table for half an hour. When she came back, and asked how things were, we explained these things to her, and she said that she would talk with someone in the back. After about 15 minutes she came back to the table with the bill--nothing taken off, full price for everything--and walked away. She came back 15 minutes later, took my credit card, and processed it. Don't go here. Service is bad, food cannot be trusted. read more

My friend and I had been here years ago and decided to check it out again. It was very busy when we went and I was understanding, but I was annoyed that the people to the left and right of us were being helped even though we were there before them. We waited a good 10 minutes before our waiter came over and told us the host didn't tell him he had a table waiting. Apparently each table is assigned a waiter and I think with how busy it was, it would've been more effective if each waiter was assigned sections instead of individual tables. We chose outdoor seating as the weather was perfect to enjoy the patio. Our server came by and while she was getting our drink order we perused the menu. Started with Takoyaki ( deep fried octopus in wheat flour) followed with a small salad and Beef Udon for me, and my wife had the Beef Teriyaki Bento box.
