Grand Opening! 222 N River Ave, Holland, MI

The food here is fantastic!! I haven't ordered anything that I didn't like yet:) Some favorites would be the fried lotus leaf buns with either pork belly or beef bulgogi! Another favorite is the fried noodles and fried rice! I also loooove the crying tiger dish from here! Recently tried the Bahn Mi sandwiches and now I understand what the fuss is about. Those are so good! The service is great too! Always feel welcome! Inside the place is quite small but there are places to sit if you're looking to dine in. I typically do take out but love eating there too! The decor is cute! Definitely check this place out if you're in the Holland area! I recommend it!

We ordered the Papaya Salad and drunken noodles. The prices are good and they hive you a lot of food. The only thing i have to recommend is that be careful pf the spice level, i ordered medium and it was very very hot. I feel like i need new lips now lol.

What a great little spot with great food! Everything I ordered was fantastic and I can't wait to go back again hopefully with more people so we can try more things!

Really wanted to like this spot and based off the reviews we were excited! Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the two dishes we got. Even the chicken fried rice had zero flavor--super bland and barely any chicken.

I love this family business! The food is always so delicious! The owners are super friendly and I will always drive far for delicious food! This is hands down my favorite restaurant in holland!

This was an impromptu visit while we stayed in Holland for a weekend getaway. We would rate this counter service restaurant six stars if we could. The service was great. They were friendly, professional, attentive, and quick to meet our needs. This café is small with 16 seats. They mainly do takeout at least from what we saw while we sat and dined in. The dining room was very clean and so were the restrooms. The menu is Laos influenced and has a wide variety of items to choose from. You could easily choose vegetarian items and there is a kids menu. Mild is still a bit spicy for those in my party that don't eat spicy food. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic! We had become a bit leery of good reviews in Holland, given the mediocrity we've had so far while in town. But this did not disappoint. * Crab Rangoon: They live up to the hype. Get them! * Fresh Spring Rolls: To me, they were typical spring rolls, but that peanut sauce....wow! * Crying Tiger: I don't know how they get the meat so good, but they do. It's wonderfully delicious on its own, even without the rice and sauce. Speaking of sauce, it's hot! We ordered mild (options are mild or hot). I like a bit of heat, my husband likes more heat - he was sweating. * Kua Mee Kai (Laos fried noodles): Also excellent! These really reminded me of Pad Thai (minus peanuts). I feel like the flavor is a bit similar. We are hoping we have a chance to come back while we're in town And they have the cutest drink lids!

So happy to support another Asian restaurant. They are a little hard to come by in the area, and the fact that this one is pretty damn delicious makes it even easier to do. My sister was in town and we just wanted to hang out without anyone having to spend time and cook so I decided to order from here and give it a shot. Ordering online was quick as picking up. I remember this bright lipstick color and how pretty the woman was handing me the bag of food. I ordered papaya salad, stir fried noodles, tiger cry, veggie stir fry, chicken red curry, and a banh mi. Everything was delicious and I really loved the veggie combinations that were in all the dishes. I think this might become my go to spot for banh mis and more!

Got the Chicken Pad Thai with Crab Rangoons and Veggie Egg Rolls on the side. Such amazing flavor and a wonderful level of heat to the Pad Thai. Generous portions as well.

Steamed and fried buns, egg rolls, Mama Sandy's Banh Mi, papaya salad, and crying tiger.

After watching a food challenge featuring steamed buns, I was ready to drive to Cleveland, Ohio to try them. Figured I'd check local first and found this place. Turned out to be a hidden treasure. Couldn't be happier with the taste and quality of the food at Lotus Pier Cafe.

My two small critiques: (01) I didn't sense that the tofu was roasted as advertised, and (02) 2/4 rolls were stuck together, and my fillings partially spilled out. This worked well, and the overall vibe of the restaurant from the ordering to the seating choices is quick service. Service: The restaurant was relatively slow due to being so newly opened, but the service was great. The staff worked hard to answer our questions to the best of their ability. Food: The menu had a few mixups with the things that were labeled gluten-free, and the staff seemed unclear what the answers were until another person (owner) could be available. This is critical for my friend not to be sick. In the end, my dining partner kind of did her best guessing and was happily correct. However, we will probably not be back together until they get that sorted out. It's not worth getting her sick. Pros: - Efficient - great choices - delicious beverages - The food was so good I dug in before I even snapped the picture Cons: - despite being labeled gluten-free on the menu, there were clearly some mixups - beverages were quite pricey

Taste of Asia has food from several Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam & Laos. When we arrived we met Lena the very charming & helpful owner from Laos. She gave us a brief rundown on some of the food items available on their menu. I see my fellow Yelper formerly from Chicago Leang has also been here. I guess foodies find good food no matter where you live or travel to lol We started w/an order of shrimp spring rolls that came w/4 spring rolls loaded w/fresh lettuce, bean sprouts & shrimp. * Issan Pad Ga Pow - Ground Chicken w/Thai Basil, onion, jalapeño w/jasmine rice ball in the center & a crispy fried egg on top of the rice perfectly cooked w/a nice gooey egg yolk on top of the jasmine rice (Excellent Dish) our favorite * Pad See Ew - Thick rice noodles w/beef, Chinese broccoli & egg w/soy sauce w/a sweetness * Larb V - season minced meat, lime juice, patise, cilantro, bean sprouts & sliced cucumbers. Very good but a tad too salty for our taste. So many times when restaurants try to cook a variety of different Asian dishes from multiple countries you end up w/a variety of mediocre dishes. This wasn't the case w/Taste of Asian where each dish had its own unique blend of seasonings that made it unique to the country being represented. Our host Lena was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes. The young girl (probably her daughter came out to check on our needs several times). Ordered crab Rangoon, 4 pieces, 2 chicken only spring rolls, chicken satay, drunken noodles with chicken and added garlic, Khao pad ga prow with chicken and added veggies, spicy. $58.16 Can't get steamed tofu here, only fried. The crab Rangoon wonton wrapper is thick, too thick and heavy. The creamed cheese inside has an odd texture and leaves an unpleasant after taste, not what I expected, super sweet. Color looks odd. The whole thing is off and doesn't taste right. The dipping sauce is not quite duck sauce or what I expected either. I have a feeling today's lunch will be interesting. I am hopeful the rest of the apps and meal goes better than the first starter. The chicken satay is super dry. The peanut sauce is thick as heck. The spring roll had some older lettuce, not great. The sauce was not peanut sauce, just topped with peanuts was all. The fried rice is meh, nothing special. The main dishes aren't big portions. The drunken noodles aren't too bad, small portion, which is fine. The drunken noodle was the best part of the meal, that's not a good thing. Service and most of the apps and food leaves much to be desired.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The woman who took our coffee order was rude, barely acknowledged us, and didn't seem interested in helping. We also waited much longer than expected for such a simple order. The biggest issue was the food. The egg sandwiches came with pickled red onions that were stringy, tough, and barely chewable. The onions completely ruined the sandwiches, and we ended up throwing both of them away after only a few bites. While I appreciated the kindness of the employee who took our sandwich order, the slow service, unfriendly interaction at the coffee counter, and disappointing food left us with an overall mediocre experience. I'm giving 3 stars because there was one bright spot with the friendly employee, but I don't think we'll be back.
