This was our first time here at this restaurant. It is in a strip plaza. Doesn't look like something that would stand out. Once inside it is small and quaint. The service was excellent. They are on top of their game. I am not one who tries unique things so I had the fried rice, which is jasmine rice with veggies and beef, and it was very good. I did add soy sauce on it because without it, it was a little bland. It is a HUGE serving of food. I also had the wonton soup. Wasn't a huge fan. It had a unique flavor I didn't care for. We also had the spring rolls which were delicious. My fiancé had the spicy noodle dish which was very good. One thing I will say is if you're used to medium for hotness, this medium is more hot to me. I wish I had gotten the mild. It made the fried rice very spicy. The only thing I didn't like was their dessert menu. It had one item on it, fried banana. We didn't have it. Kind of disappointed in their lack of desserts, which was why I gave it 4 stars. I was very impressed with Typhoon. While it's isn't as ornate as most Thai places, it is clean and they are very warm and friendly. The food was delicious and the Thai tea was some of the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back. read more

If your looking for good Thai food in crystal river you won't really find it... this restaurant is good but tastes more along the lines of "fast food Thai." The vegetables didn't taste fresh and the food tasted a little too salty. Keep in mind most of the people reviewing only really know southern Thai food, which is not even close to other Thai food I have had over on the West coast! The food taste fabulous however if you order Chicken Pad Thai be prepared to get like 3 pieces of chicken and pay 500 times more than you should for just noodles. Came here after a long day of diving and...words can hardly describe it. The staff was a little busy, so we had to wait a little bit for our food, but DAMN if it wasn't worth it. I've never had a good experience with thai food, but this was amazing! Traditionally cooked with all the traditional thai spices (and peppers: delicious and hot!). I tried a few of my friends dishes as well and I have nothing bad to say about any of it. They have mild dishes for those who are a bit faint of heart when it comes to spice and HOT dishes for us fire breathers. Everything was fantastic and reasonably priced for such good quality. The downfall of the place is that they charged our party of four adults and two toddlers the mandatory gratuity for a party if six. My two and three year old didn't even order a meal. I'm a big Thai food fan and was really excited to find this place while on a recent visit from Atlanta. I got the coconut soup and a yellow curry mixed veggie dish with tofu. They were both fantastic, as was the thai iced tea. The place was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. I would definitely return! My only negative comment is around the service. The service was okay but there wasn't anyone at the front register, which happens to be where the phone is located. The phone rang and rang and rang and never got answered. For those of us in the seats at the front, this was very annoying, as the phone had a casino slots type ring. They needed to either answer the phone, turn the ringer down, or have it go direct to voicemail. It literally rang the majority of the time I ate my dinner. I was ready to go answer it myself. Food was great and fast. The portions were enough to satisfy, not real big. Facility is clean but fairly small. I had the fried rice with pork and would definitely recommend this place to a friend. The only negative thing I can say about my experience here is that they either didn't do any variations with their meals (Example- I asked if I could do duck with the fried rice and the waitress said they don't, it seemed doable since they had other duck entrees on the menu).
