My sister and I tried Pho 84 yesterday since we both love all Asian food. Wow! We had both Freddy and Ken take care of us and they were spot on with their excellent service. Freddy initially took our order since we were the first ones in the restaurant, then Ken took impeccable care of us at our table (and you pay at the counter). I had the Shrimp Spring Roll (3 large rolls with a light bean curd wrap: NOT fried but fresh, delicious and perfect for my Weight Watchers diet). THAT was amazing and it's served with a peanut sauce that was also delicious (I mixed it in with a bit of soy sauce on my last roll). My friend had the Pho (Vietnamese soup) and it was excellent, she shared: an ample amount of everything where it was more like a thick stew which is PERFECT. This will be my favorite lunch place now and I'm looking forward to trying the fried rice or stir fried noodles or vermicelli (with a protein) next OR the grilled pork or grilled chicken sandwich (bahn mi). LOTS of options including quite a few VEGAN options since Tofu is also on the menu with many items. Lots of Smoothie and Fruit tea selections that look delectable also. Citrus County denizens...DO give this place a try and you will NOT be disappointed. It's the best Pho in this and surrounding counties, because we've tried them all. A+ read more

I asked what vegan options they had & she told me the veggie pho wasn't vegan friendly- but the vegetable fried rice with tofu is. I ordered it, drive to our hotel, showered and was sooo tired and hungry. Just to find out-it has EGGS. That's not vegan. That's vegetarian. I couldn't eat ANY of it & had to throw it away. Now all the local Asian places are closed. There was no description of egg anywhere in the menu at the counter/in the restaurant. Eggs aren't vegan- please be aware. *Also they only gave one soy sauce packet so if it was edible- I'd def would have wanted more soy sauce. read more

When my daughter first told me that a Pho restaurant had opened up in Crystal River I was super excited because the only Pho restaurant is located in downtown Inverness in our county which is such a drive for us. My daughter and I decided to order take out since my hubby was up in the area doing some errands and he could easily stop and get our food. When I called my order in - the disappointment started. We had a simple order - 2 orders of fresh shrimp rolls and 2 orders of Pho Tai (rare beef slices). When the worker repeated my order back he said the wrong soup, I had to correct him by saying "No, we want the Pho Tai - the rare beef slices." He told me there was no way they were sending out rare beef slices from their restaurant and all their meat is cooked. My first thought was I hope that the beef will not be tough but I was still willing to give it a try. When our food came home we opened the containers and our first thoughts were the portion sizes of both the fresh rolls and the Pho soup were small compared to the portion size of other Pho restaurants, but we were still excited to try their food. The shrimp fresh rolls even though there were three - with the price of $5.99 were miniature! The rolls fit in the palm of my hand and believe me my hands are small - I have been teased all my life how small my hands are. As for the flavor - they didn't have any! 3 small boiled shrimp on a bed of rice noodle and some shreds of lettuce wrapped up with a small container half full of some sauce. It definitely wasn't peanut sauce - it was dark brown with no peanut flavor present. They also supplied 1 small condiment size pack of Hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce. I added both of those hoping to improve the flavor and had to get my own Sriracha and Hoisin to add more to make it more palatable to eat. Now the weird part - in the middle of each roll was an lump of a gelatinous rubbery nature. It was present in all 6 of our fresh rolls - we were thinking either it was a lump of rice noodles stuck together or because the rolls were so small and wrapped so tight that it might had been extra rice paper wrapper that just became a lump from being wet. It was extremely off putting. Another issue with our rolls were that they were wrapped so tightly the rice paper wrapper actually split around all the shrimp which made them sloppy to eat. Our Pho had a quart of decent tasting broth. It was mild in flavor - we are use to a more spiced broth where you could taste the usual Pho spices such as cinnamon, clove, fennel, star anise...... In the small plastic bowl that they provided had a third of the way of rice noodle with our cooked beef which by the way looked nice and dry sitting there along with some onion slices. In a small baggie provided was the accompanied regular vegetable garnishes. Bean sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeno slices and a third of a lime. I added them all in to give the soup some bulk. Flavor was good after I added my own Sriracha and Hoisin but the noodles we could not untangle and what little we could they were broken and overcooked for our taste buds. Another disappointment! We ordered their large size of Pho and we both said if this is their large what in the world is their small? We paid $12.99 per Pho and my daughter couldn't eat her meal! I pulled the lumps out of my fresh rolls and smothered them with sauce to eat them and I piled all my veggies and some of hers in my bowl and finished my Pho! For that price I sure wasn't going to waste it! Our bill was over $40 for lunch - a special treat since we were both feeling under the weather and in the past eating a bowl of Pho always cured our aches and pains. This place does have an extensive menu and maybe other dishes they serve will be better but we will not order take out there again - instead we will try a meal at the restaurant and see how their other plates taste! I always give a restaurant a couple of tries to see if any improvement is made, hopefully this one will pass the test in the future. In the meantime we will continue to go to our favorite Pho place for our fix of fresh spring rolls and Pho! read more

Cute lil spot by my mom's house! They have tons of Vietnamese dishes and everything looked amazing. Mom got an orange chicken with rice and it was much better than any other orange chicken I've tried. My noodles were amazing. I got something different with a pork broth. So flavorful! They also have teas. I like a fruit tea but my mom likes her iced tea and this is not that. Overall, I'd go back when I visit. Hope they do well! read more

Went last week and have to revise review. Food was slow as molasses on a Sunday and service soon followed suit as our time increased at our table without any food. Fresh Spring rolls had corners cut, just shrimp and shredded iceberg lettuce. Not authentic. Food took no less than 30 minutes and it was store bought, cheaper quality rice noodles, chicken stock was bottled and bland. Also, it appeared they couldn't balance takeout with dine in as someone who came in after us got their meal before us. Had high hopes for this place.... I rescind them. read more

Service was the best. The food was good but could be better. The green beans were very flavorful but my personal preference would be to have a little bite to the green beans but that's just me. The bread on the banh Mi could have been fresher. The bread fell apart when eating it. I am sure these are just problems from not have authentic ingredients available. Stopped in when coming thru town on a business trip. Love Pho, and was surprised to see this new spot in Crystal River. I was told that this is the second location of a very popular place over in Spring Hill. First impression upon entering was great; the buildout and decor were nice, and the place was spotless. I ordered a large Special, which has beef flank and meatballs. The portion was huge, and it was some of the best Pho I've had. Service was very good as well. It is important to note that despite the business name, this isn't just a Pho restaurant; more like a varied Asian restaurant with Pho as a featured dish. that said, there were a large number of traditional noodle and rice-based dishes with various beef, chicken and seafood combos. If you like soup and have never tried Pho, give it a shot. If not, there is still plenty on the menu to try. In any event, I'm glad to have a new go-to spot when I'm in Crystal River. read more

we had a table of 4, the food came out one serving at a time in over a hour of waiting. Meanwhile the condiments on the table where left out all the time when the bottle clearly said refidgerate after opening. The two spicy bottles of peppers were empty and dirty. I asked our waiter to replace them and fill them. he brought them back filled but the outside was still grungy. I do not blame the waiter for way he was trained or not trained I blame the manager that lets the dirty tables, the dirty empty containers on tables and the wait between one dish at a time for a table of 4. Ever since the owner stopped working there the place has went completely downhill. The pho noodles are always stuck together and breaking apart. I ordered steak pho and they gave me the special which I don't like.My husband ordered the orange chicken was just terrible. Basically no chicken and all fried pieces. It takes 20 minutes to get drinks I always have to remind the server to not forget them. It needs better staff that actually cares about quality. read more

First off let me say that it is fantastic getting more choices of food from different cultures in Citrus County. That being said, I really wanted to like this place. I love tendon pho and it is of course somewhat chewy but the tendon here is extremely tough. I could barley chew some parts of it. I've had tendon pho other places in big cities and it just melts in your mouth. I also ordered extra tendon and it maybe had 4 or 5 pieces of tendon in it. If it was with extra tendon, would without the extra have only 2 pieces of tendon in it? The broth was not very flavorful. I also had the house special fried rice. The meats and shrimp all had a stale taste, not spoiled or anything, just like it was left in a freezer for awhile. The staff were friendly and the food came out promptly. I can't give the food a review because I never had the opportunity to try it and never will. My hubby and I walked in on Thursday eve at 7:30 to an empty restaurant. Since they don't close until 8:30, I didn't think it would be a problem. After standing around and yelling "hello" a couple of times, a young man appeared from the kitchen looking like we woke him up. I (kinda jokingly) said "Are you open?" to which he looked around, shrugged his shoulders and said "Yes, I guess so." He then said "If you take it to go". My husband and I don't eat out that often so taking food home was not what we were looking forward to so I told him no. He then shrugged his shoulders and we left. I don't think this restaurant will be around pho long let alone pho ever. read more

I can see why this is a 3 star place. The foods are borderline ok. I had a special pho. Average taste, nothing to be excited about. What makes the pho total failure was the meat was not cooked long enough so it was very tough. On top of the tough meat it was cut super thick. My jaws got tired chewing the leather like piece of meat. I finally gave up and spit it out. My husband had banh mi sandwich. The banh mi sandwich was soaked with the mayonnaise. It was almost soupy. My husband just ate the grilled pork from the sandwich and threw away the bread. We also order the grilled pork spring rolls. We liked them well. The server, Keith (if I remember his name correctly) was very good- knowledgeable of the food , the menu - and friendly. It takes a long time for the food to. come and there was only 2 tables of 2 people in the restaurant. worst food I've ever had at a restaurant. I ordered a seafood Pho, all the seafood in it was old, fishy tasting, overcooked. Others is our party of 5 ordered various menu items, all of the vegetables were old and soggy. The only part of my dish worth eating were the rice noodles. I'll preface this by saying that I live in Jacksonville where we have Pho restaurants on every corner. I've eaten at most of them and have my favorite. My mom and a family friend visit me often from Crystal River and they've also eaten Pho in Jacksonville so we all know what it's suppose to taste like and what it's served with. To start, my mom loves crab rangoon so she ordered it to share. I noticed it said cream cheese wontons and they weren't kidding. It was nothing but a smear of cream cheese on the inside and looked like they'd been baked in the oven. It was served with some weird orange flavored dipping sauce. Hard pass on those. We get the most amazing pork fried rice at my favorite Pho restaurant in Jax. I didn't see pork fried rice on Pho Real's menu so I ordered the house special. It came out right after we placed our order which I found odd. Now I know why. It looked very dry. Once I took a bite, I could tell the rice had been cooked and then reheated. There was almost no protein in the rice. What little piece of chicken I tried was just as dry as the rice. I sent the dish back which shocked the waitress that kept repeatedly calling me "honey". Very annoying after about the 10th time. When I placed the order for the Pho she asked what kind of broth I wanted. I've never been asked that before at any Pho restaurant I've been to. Even Pho restaurants in other cities like Tampa & Miami. The waitress said they had chicken, beef and named a few more that I can't recall. Traditional Pho is made with beef broth so I'm not sure where they came up with other flavors. I ordered a large bowl and my family ordered mediums. The medium was the size of a small and large was a medium. I ordered rare steak which means it comes to your table raw but it's so thinly sliced that it cooks in the very hot broth. The steak I had was "mealy" like it had been over cooked for hours. The waitress also brought each of us a little tray with a small handful of bean sprouts, a sprig of basil, 3 slices of fresh jalapeño and a small piece of lime. These items are traditionally piled on a large platter that the table shares and usually includes cilantro or culantro. The portions are also much bigger. When I asked for cilantro they brought me a bowl with a very small amount of already chopped cilantro in it. The Pho's broth was just ok. It was lacking the bold flavor that it typically has. We all had to "doctor" our Pho up to make it taste better. Overall we all agreed that we wouldn't go back. The food was pretty terrible and disappointing in comparison to what we're used to. Their portion sizes were way off. They're giving small & medium bowls and charging you for medium & large size. They're also really chintzy with the Pho toppings. The chef needs to cook the fried rice fresh when you order it and not try to serve dried out rice they probably made in the morning. You need to do better 'Pho Real' or you won't be in business very long or perhaps you will since most people living in this area have never had Pho or Vietnamese food before and don't know that what they're getting is terrible. My suggestion is try Pho in different cities you may travel to and then form an opinion. If you're ever in Jax, try Bowl of Pho off Old Baymeadows Rd. If you message me I'll even recommend dishes you should try. read more

Ordered food to go to be ready in 45 minutes. 1-1/2 hours later, it was finally ready. Everything tasted old, like it was previously cooked and frozen and then thawed and warmed up. None of it had any taste. $4.50 for 1 egg roll that was smaller than a spring roll and had nothing in it. We threw all the food it in the trash when we found a hair in the beef. This restaurant does not deserve to be in business! read more
