I love that Thai Pod is our neighborhood Thai spot! It's a cute, small spot that I suspect does most of their business in take-out. Despite this, we stopped in on a Friday evening and got a table for two right away. I was worried about the service given some of the reviews but we were served promptly and our food came out in a totally appropriate amount of time. We got the egg rolls as an app which were just okay but the Pad See Ew and the Panang Curry were both excellent. We got the noodles with Tofu and the curry with seafood and there was an abundance of both in each dish. The noodles we got spice level 4 (out of 5) and the curry level 3. We both love spicy foods and these packed a great punch. We may try the level 5 spice the next time we go just to see how it is. Overall, an excellent local Thai spot! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night. There was no one in the restaurant when we first got there, but there were people picking up to go orders while we dined in. There is street parking available. This area can get busy so it just depends on the time of day when you go here. Almost every time I go for Thai food , I always order seafood green curry Thai spicy. I was surprised on the amount of seafood that I got comparative to other local restaurants. It was interesting because the seafood with shells (clams) were deshelled. No complaints there, but just something to note. The green curry was decent as well as the spice level. It wasn't the best green curry I've had but overall it was good. I also got a glass of merlot with it, which was tasty. My boyfriend got the crab fried rice and his portion was huge. He enjoyed it and we both took our leftovers home. read more

The food is really good and the place is charming but the service is spotty. There is one server in particular that just seemed clueless as to what is considered good service and what is inappropriate. There was a table for four next to us and 3 people were seated there. Our server brought us our food and set the platter our food on their table, I watched the 3 girls look up at him surprised as he acted like they weren't even there and was transfering the food from the platter to our table. It was shocking and rude. I think they were short staffed in the kitchen and so the timing of our food being brought out was weird. Always on the lookout for a new Thai place to check out, and dropped in to Thai Pod after a recommendation from a friend. Did NOT disappoint! Quiet little place, plenty of seating. Looks like they do way more take out business than dine-in. The service was attentive and pleasant but the food was AMAZING. I have a soft spot for a place that will actually up the spice level when you ask for it. Not only was I impressed with the spice levels, but the flavor of the food was great. Big servings, nice ratios of veggies and meat, and really good chili oil on the table. The server thought it was house made, and I'd believe it. Great flavor, great heat. Pumkin curry with mixed veggies. And cashew nut stir fry. Couldnt find the pumkin and barely any mixed veggies i requested hot for heat level and it was just sweet, lastly portion was small. Same with cashew nut with tofu and veggies portion was ridiculously small and the sauce reminded me of a sweet syrup. I had requested hot but it was so overly sweet i couldnt finish eating it... this is one place to skip. Im sorry but come on do better... i spent $35 for food that i couldnt even finish. And i left feeling hungry.... the lady or owner was trying her best to be at least cordial with me. But as i was asking her questions she was answering me in a dismissive way. Thats the only way i can describe it. She didnt want to look at me. Until i paused waiting for her to pull her gaze away from the till. But im sorry she just seemed very annoyed with my questions. I kind of feel bad. Her son was sitting there. Perhaps ten yrs old .. and obviously he loves his mum... but hello mum get better cooks.. give normal decent potions.. put some love and care into your food. A pretty standard Thai menu. We got the lunch special sweet n sour pork which was very tasty, tender pork and the portion was big enough to share for 2. We got the lunch special on a weekday (not sure if they do weekends too) for about $13, very reasonable price. Very tasty but w/ the abundant competition of Thai places in the city (about 10 in walking distance from my place) there wasn't enough of a draw for me to come back I think. read more

What an improvement! I used to live in the neighborhood and wasn't that impressed so I used to drive miles to get good Thai food. Tried them again recently and I'm so impressed! They have completely upped their game! After getting my hair done a few doors down, I decided to pick up dinner so that I didn't have to cook in this heat. The Pad Kee Mao was fabulous! It's one of my favorite dishes and I can't believe that I've been searching and driving all over Portland to find a version of this very common dish that's better than I make, and it's right here on NE Broadway! The wide rice noodles are stir fried with onion, peppers, fresh basil and egg. A symphony of flavors plus some heat. After that, I had to come back and try some other dishes. They even have Pad Woon Sen, which not many Thai restaurants have in the menu. It's a stir fry noodle dish made with thin mung bean noodles along with carrots, green onions, cabbage, bell peppers and tomatoes. Another winner! The perfect balance and harmony of textures and flavors. The thin noodles are a refreshing change andthey are gluten free. Their Penang curry (with green beans and some heat) and Mussaman curry (with ground peanuts) are both fabulous. I'm so glad I decided to give Thai Pod another try. Definitely some of the best, most flavorful Thai food in Portland. Casual ambiance inside, bright colorful chairs and tables outside. Fun and festive vibe. Friendly service. Even though I don't live in Grant Park anymore, I'm over there most every day since I still go to the gym and run errands in this neighborhood. After 17 years, old habits hard to break! Very, very good Thai food. I was introduced to this restaurant years ago by a friend that used to live in the neighborhood. I live out of the area, but every time I'm in town for business, I always find a way to pop in here and grab a meal. Everything I've had off the menu has been phenomenal considering I ate a lot of Thai food from Seattle down to San Diego. My girlfriend and I both had pad see ew with chicken for dinner and it was delicious! I can honestly say this is one of the best pad see ew dishes I've ever had. The flavors were amazing. The portion was great for the price, too which is always nice haha we both only got about halfway through and had to take the rest home. It tasted just as great later in the evening as well. I have been coming here off and on for the past 3 years. The food is great but the pricing is sketchy at best. In the past, I have been charged a fee for using a credit card, even when I paid cash. And they say that it is the way their system works, nothing they can do about it. Pay up!! Today I bought Seafood Pumpkin Curry (delicious) listed on the menu for $20, and it comes with white rice. But for $3 more you can get brown rice (again it is listed clearly on the menu: Brown Rice $3). So the total should be $23, but the bill was $23.50 for the Curry dish with White Rice (no Brown Rice). When I asked about this, they told me that the reason was that they changed the prices but have not had time to change the menus. And this is not the first time they have done this...."sketchy" at best!! The food is delicious...but this is the Lloyd District and there are many amazing restaurants here. I will not be back to this one, cause I feel cheated when they do this. I love their food, but hate being told one thing on the menu and something else at the cash register. read more

What a great find on Broadway. Nicest person ever greeted me and took my order. Veggie Pad Kee Mao was so delicious- excellent heat sauce to mix in that his aunt makes for the restaurant. Sat outside at ate it while also enjoying a Saint Simon coffee. Definitely recommend! read more

This is my 2nd time eating at Thai Pod and the food/service was perfect both times. Ate in while we waited for a family member to finish the STP race. All of our food was very flavorful and just the right amount of spice. A lot of Thai places don't make the food spicy enough for my tastes, but the medium spice level here is just right. The person working was super friendly and very helpful with recommendations. We got the Chu Che Catfish to go, which was sooo good (I'm glad I tried something new and got this instead of the usual fried rice I get). Beverage prices are very fair and I enjoyed the Thai Coffee with coconut milk. Can't wait for my next trip to Portland so I can come here again! read more
