At our favorite Thai restaurant again! Loved everything except the DB complaining about his bill ($3.00!) for no good reason!!

Food was amazing and vegetables were cooked to perfection. Price is reasonable and in a great location.

I've been visiting Corpus Christi for just a few days, but have been incredibly disappointed with the food until tonight when we discovered Thai Spice. What an incredible find!! I'm vegetarian, so eating in this city has not been very easy and for the most part, less than delicious. Thai Spice changed all of that for me. The couple who own the place were absolutely wonderful and were happy to accommodate my vegetarian request with three delicious dishes. My favorite was the green curry, which was different than most that I've had (and I eat Thai all of the time.) This was served in a coconut that could then be scraped out and added to the curry. It was not quite as sweet, which I loved and was packed with delicious veggies and beans. It is very apparent that the owners take great pride in the food that they serve and the business that they run! I felt like I was having an incredible home cooked meal, which is hard to find on the road. This will be my first meal stop next time I'm here! read more

This is our favorite Asian restaurant in Corpus Christi and it is in the running for our overall favorite; so I admit I am biased. I choose restaurants at which the food tastes good and where the dining experience is pleasurable. IMO Thai Spice scores well in both categories. To those of you who judge a restaurant by whether or not the food is truly "authentic" Thai cuisine, I say that I don't really care. I'm not trying to do an anthropological study of Thailand, I come here to have a nice meal and I've never been disappointed. Maybe some people are so accustomed to eating out of Asian carry-out boxes that they don't appreciate attractive meal presentation, but I find it a very nice way to begin. I'm totally puzzled by the comments that the portion size is small; last night my wife took half of her yellow curry home and I was stuffed after finishing my Panang. Nor can I understand the issues about long wait times. Last night we were seated while the kitchen was just beginning to prepare entrees for a party of ~8 or 9 businessmen. Our potstickers came out right away and our curries were ready before we finished our appetizers. This was in the 6:30-7:30 timer period and the restaurant was rather busy. Lastly, I couldn't imagine a nicer couple than the folks who own this place; they always greet us with smiles. read more

The service is definitely top notch and friendly. Nice ambience too. However, my food was just average. The soup was great, but the main course (pad Thai) was underwhelming. The meal was also about $6 more than what I would expect to pay. However, I will say that a lot of "regulars" walked in while I was eating and they seemed to genuinely enjoy the place. read more

My wife and I visited this place for a late lunch, close to dinner. The restaurant is fairly compact with fairly decent atmosphere. Food was pretty good and I would have rated this at least a 3 star if not for the service. An elderly gentleman was waiting all the tables and warned us the wait for dinner would be an hour. This would have been fine except we were ignored for most of the time. Had to go up twice to ask for the bill and to at least get some water. To make this worse, they imposed a service charge! What service?? The food was decent but it was not worth the 1 hour wait nor the poor service. We felt cheated for the high price and absolutely little service Beyond that, the lady at the counter had a condescending attitude, "We're a one man show"..That's not my problem!...If you want a much better experience, I would recommend Thai cottage. read more

Foods spicy and good. Service not so good. Watch out for getting over charged. I have never heard of paying for sharing your entree. They charge extra 3$ for every person who is at your table. They included gratuity and dint tell us. The bill just shows one amount. When we asked for the breakdown they wont give me. Very pricey for the food. read more

We are in town and decided to come here for Thai. We ordered two pad see ewes w beef which ended up being $38. We didn't realize how pricey until we picked up food. Food came with beef and chicken but we only wanted beef. The food was bland, and I used all of the chili sauce they provided to give it some flavor. I appreciate getting my veggies in for the day, but there were green beans with the pad see ewe. Pad see ewe does not come with green beans. Entre included cucumbers, cabbage, egg rolls, and grapefruit on the side. That was different. Would never go back there though. read more

Although having lived in big cities and paying a lot more for Thai food that wasn't as good I didn't mind the prices after tasting the food. It's hard to find a restaurant that is doing everything right, but Thai Spice has managed to figure it out. The ambiance is great, with authentic art and a cozy feel that made me feel like I had discovered a hidden getaway. I was greeted with a welcoming smile by one of the owners and after being seated I ordered a Singha beer. The Singha was served with a frosted mug, a gesture of significance to me. Not only did that frosted mug keep my beer cold, it indicated that this was a place where time was taken to do things right and details were not forgotten. That held true throughout my entire experience. I ordered the chicken red curry and it was authentic and delicious and I cleaned my plate. The presentation was impressive, yet subtle. Everything had a purpose and therefore was edible. I got the feeling that whoever prepared it took pride in their work. The chicken red curry was served in a coconut with jasmine rice on the side. By all means the coconut meat is meant to be eaten. The spice of the red curry was just right for my taste and I learned that the kaffir lime leaf used to add phenomenal authentic flavor, was actually grown by the owners (who are originally from Thailand) and freshly picked. I left the restaurant in awe of the expertise, passion, and overall experience. It is one that I won't forget. By far the best Thai restaurant I've been to. read more

We went as a family of four to this restaurant. It has very nice decor. The food arrived and was very good looking and creative. The food was also very tasty, some of the best thai we had. However, we found the pricing very deceptive. As we have small kids, we sometimes share some our main entree with them. This restaurant tags on $3 for each entree shared, even with kids, even it was only a piece of fruit. The other aspect we did not like was that they added gratuity as a table setup fee to the bill without asking us. this was more than the 15% I usually give. So we felt cheated by this exorbitant gratuity fee and entree sharing fee. So I would recommend this place only if you are not paying the bill. read more

Please DO NOT visit this. I give NO STARS for this restaurant. Very delayed service. We waited there for 1 Hour 30 Mins to get our food ordered. Manager is very very RUDE guy. Interesting what I saw was manager is waiter and also owner of the restaurant. We went to this restaurant with 4 families (10 people) and ordered various items and he noted own on piece of paper. They took one hour 30 Mins Surprisingly while serving the items, they don't know who ordered what and also was serving items we did not ordered. When couple of us told him that we did not ordered it, he started showing his attitude and started shouting on us stating that we ordered the items he was serving. Worst manager, waiter I have seen, very rude guy. read more

The food here is great! I love the decor and interior. One of the other reviewers mentioned a flat screen showing sea life which reminded me of this one time I ate dinner there and the video got a bit gruesome! Watching animals eat each other while you're eating is weird but funny I guess haha. The staff is super friendly and they always give me a free drink while I waited for my to go orders. The fried rice is so good! It's spicy and they add fruit and nuts to it. A really great place overall. read more

Don't believe all the positive reviews on this place! This restaurant charges 5 star prices for 1 star portions and 2 star authenticity. If you're hungry and crave good Thai food go to another restaurant, otherwise prepare to spend $50 per person to buy 2 entrees and if you're lucky, maybe you can squeeze in a Coke, and this is before taxes and tips! I agree with one of the other reviewers who said that the attitude of the staff was not great and it was very pricey. 3 adult entrees were priced $13.95 each. Our 2 year old had the soup that they serve before the meal and since we didn't buy a separate entree for him, we were charged $2.95. An extra bowl (which is so very small) of rice was another $2.95 and a paratha (an Indian bread, which surely wasn't freshly made since it tasted exactly like the frozen parathas we get at times and heat up) was $3.99. What a rip off! On top of all this they added a gratuity of $10 for 4 people! When asked, the owner, who is a older lady says 'we add gratuities for 3 or 4 people', though she didnt say if it is 3 or if it is 4. The food was very ordinary. The place we go to for Thai in San Antonio (Thai Pikul) is half the price and serves better food than this restaurant. Also, the portion sizes are SMALL. On my fried rice plate, they had a pineapple with the skin with a thin rectangular slice that was the only edible part, a lot of bean sprouts and a small portion of fried rice. When I asked the owner about the portion size, she says that this is the lunch portion that is a little less expensive (!!) plus it comes with a fruit and soup. She then proceeds to say that they don't serve a lot of food like chinese restaurants. For all the bluster, part of my rice was burnt on the sides and the food was very ordinary! If you're looking for a pricey restaurant with an ordinary food and an owner with an attitude, look no further than this place! read more

This is not only the best Thai food and possibly overall restaurant in Corpus Christi, but it matches or exceeds the best Thai food I have had anywhere, including in Thailand. This is a family owned business, and their pride and dedication shows in the kindness of service and deliciousness of the food, as well as the pretty presentation. Chef Pennee is masterful at combining flavors. Hot foods are hot, cold foods are perfectly chilled, and when they combine, such as the warm tangy dressing on the cold banana blossom green salad, the result is incredible. The lemongrass coconut soup is not to be missed and I struggle not to lick to bowl. The main courses I've had have all been excellent, from Thai salads to noodle dishes to meats and curries. read more

Went here last night for a late night meal. All we can say is wow. Fresh amazing yummy Pad Thai and Roti Canai. I travel a lot and have eaten my share of these two dishes and this was tops. Loved it and wonderful service to boot. Very sweet and charming people who run this restaurant. Thank you for a great experience to end our stay in Corpus! My husband and I tried out this restaurant in downtown Corpus Christi. The food is amazing and the service is even better. We've tried pretty much everything on the menu by now and I haven't tasted anything bad. The vegetables are fresh, the meat is tender, and they give you very large portions with decorative food placement. The 3rd time we went there, we were greeted with hugs and before we even ordered they had our son's food brought to the table. They're always fast with the cooking. The only downside is that they usually bring out everyone's food at different times but you don't even wait a minute in between dishes. The inside is small and cozy. It gives off a really relaxed vibe. We come here every week now and bring my husbands coworkers and family there. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more
