I ordered Uber Eats tonight so I can't speak to the ambiance. I can say that I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for my order and Uber Eats claimed it was the restaurant "finalizing" my order. So, an hour and half wait was a let down for food that is not too far away from my house. When the food got here it smelled delicious. The appetizers came cold, which is a disappointment, but the soup, red curry, and drunken noodles were hot. The food was tasty. The coconut soup was a little thinner than I'm used to, but it had delicious flavor and a good kick. The spring rolls were delicious as well as their version of crab rangoon. The curry was tasty- a second to my favorite red curry from Sushi at the Park. Drunken noodles were tasty too! I'll order again for sure. read more

Visiting relatives, and with a hankering for Thai, we came here the other evening. Nice place, friendly Staff and manager (owner?) and excellent food. We started with a "volcano pot" of Spicy Coconut soup with vegis. The cost for the volcano pot was about twice the cost of two individual servings, but provided at least three decent servings. The soup was flavorful, with good heat and an assortment of vegis (carrots, pea pods, broccoli, others) that was more than ample for three servings. Really good soup. We also got an order of Basil Rolls, which I didn't try but I heard was quite good. For entrees, I got the Green Curry with tofu. The sauce was delicious and the tofu perfectly prepared (outer crunch, but not hard/overcooked). We also got the Drunken Noodles and Pad Prik (with shrimp). I tasted the Pad Prik - it was good. The Drunken noodles got a big thumbs up. Atmosphere is nice. Clean and comfortable. The waitstaff could have come by more often to refill water glasses. But that's my only complaint. read more

Decent food, but a bit disappointing considering their high ratings and glowing reviews. This was my second time trying the drunken noodles here and I found the chicken to be pretty dry. The drunken noodles sauce was watered down which diluted the flavor. I did enjoy the Thai iced tea, however. If you order take out, make sure to remind them you ordered tea as they tend to forget and prepare it separately from your food order. First I need to say if I could give this place 10 stars, I would! Was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Thai food. We arrived and immediately I liked the atmosphere. Clean and quiet. We were seated and placed our orders. The complementary soup was out of this world delicious and bursting with flavor. I enjoyed every last drop. I ordered yellow curry chicken and it too did not disappoint! So delicious I wanted more to take home! The friend I was meeting was someone I've k own for many years but never met. We sat there over two hours enjoying the meal and company. The staff did not bother us to make us feel rushed and we realized when we left they were waiting for us to leave so they could lock up! This made them extremely service oriented in my opinion because we had no idea they were closing until we left. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend this place. Visiting a friend who raved over the taste. The food was good but the server was so aggressive and annoying. Not sure of his name, Asian man. Continued to interrupt our conversations the entire time. He was the only server of the three that did this. Very aggressive and off-putting. He runs around smiling but intense. A friend and I recently had dinner at Thai star restaurant. I was told is had the "hole in the wall" kind of a vibe, but actually quite the opposite. The place is quite comfortable and squeaky squeaky clean! The service was good although the waitress spoke very little English, we made it through. We both had the Tom yam shrimp soup which was quite tasty. I've never had it without the coconut milk base, so it was unexpected when it arrived, and I was a little disappointed, but the flavor was actually quite delicious and no complaints. The shrimp in the soup was also very fresh. We also ordered a lamb dish that was one of their specialties on the back page of the menu and it was exceptional! It was a thin cut lamb chop on the bone in a very mild, light Sauce with plenty of vegetables and it was absolutely tender and delicious. I'm a huge fan of pad'Thai and I am known to test every Thai restaurant I try for the first time with their pod Thai. If they pass my pod Thai test them they are good with me. Next, the friend with me recommended something unusual, which was a type of pod Thai this restaurant makes that instead of using rice noodles, they actually use sweet potato spirals. I was skeptical at first, but when it was delivered, and I took the first bite, it was absolutely fabulous! Only the difference in texture, let me know that I was not eating rice noodles, but it was flavorful, not overly spicy with a good amount of vegetables and sprouts and crushed peanuts on the side. It was quite a surprise and an absolute delight. The only downside to this place, and I say this lightly, is, we were the only people in the restaurant and the friend with me had been twice before and also were the only people in the restaurant and now I'm shocked! We have ordered the yellow curry several times through UberEats (we have not made it out to dine in yet) and it consistently tastes the same, it's hot and quite flavorful. Something I will reorder as a go-to takeout meal. Always have enough for leftovers as well. Maybe next time I'll branch out and try other menu items. read more

We had high hopes for Thai Star, and the food was okay but not outstanding. Overall, it was lacking in distinct flavor and was not spicy enough (even at Thai spicy level). We ordered two dishes: - massaman curry (Thai spicy): really great proportion size, and plenty of coconut flavor but otherwise lacking strong curry flavor that I expect from this dish. It wasn't bad but not memorable either. Even at Thai spicy spice level, it was not very spicy - likely because all of the spicy oil had settled to the bottom of the plastic container that the curry came in. - pad kee maw (medium spicy): the noodles were good, but a lot of the vegetables were very crunchy which I personally did not enjoy. Again, good portion size. This was our first time trying out Thai Star and while we didn't love our experience, we are hoping to return in the future and try other items on the menu. read more

Best Thai Food in the Raleigh Durham area. When the restaurant my kids and I chose for lunch was closed for the Memorial Day holiday, we randomly picked another Thai Restaurant in the área. Well needless to say we just added Thai Star to the number 1 spot for Thai food. Masaman curry dish has always been my favorite but these guys take it up a notch. The curry dish is so delicious here I didn't need anything else but I got a basil fried rice with beef since it was our first time here. Boom My daughter and son are picky eaters they both ate their meals to the plate. Crab fried rice and chicken drunken noodles. I tasted their plates and I swear I will want to eat all 3 the next time I'm here. My daughter said the curry puff was the best she has tried to date and my wife placed her order via text once we told her this spot is amazing so we have bags of food to go. Not impressed at all. Maybe it was because I ordered via Uber Eats, so perhaps it sat for a bit before I ate it. The Shrimp Pad Thai Noodles were bland. The Wonton Soup was mostly cabbage, the wontons had fallen apart, and what was there was soggy. I ordered dumplings but the container had "Pot Stickers" written on it. After tasting the other two dishes, I don't even want to try these. I literally will not be eating any of it. Almost $60 and into the trash it goes. read more

We ordered takeout online after seeing a Facebook ad, so I can't really comment on the interior. I would probably give them 3.5 stars if I could because it's good, solid Thai that hits the spot but is not necessarily on the more upscale Thai gourmet side. Ordering was very easy through the website and the food was ready when promised. We liked the food a little better than Thai 55 up the street. Okay, so I found this spot while doing some shopping at South Point. I actually noticed a Thai restaurant in the food court and it made me realize that I needed some in my life, however, somewhere hopefully authentic. Found this spot on google and decided to give it a try. I can in with my boyfriend and we were sat by an woman who was running the front of the restaurant alone. She was tending to door dash drivers, the phone & walk in customers while we ate in. She was literally running around to ensure everyone was taken care of in a timely fashion. I ordered the house dumplings, which were fried & chicken mix filled. They laid over a bed of lettuce with a drizzle of what seemed to be ginger sauce over the top. They were good! The menu seemed to be authentic being I saw mostly Thai cuisine and order the Lad Na Noodles with Chicken. My partner got the spicy shrimp udon noodles. Just realized that we have this so close to the house and wanted an easy dinner night. We tried the pad see ew with beef, the chicken cashew, curry puff and fried tofu. Although I'd like to be more of a spice lover, we ordered less spicy to avoid pregnancy heartburn. The less spicy was so light/indistinguishable that we will try mild next next time. Not the best pad see ew of my life, but it was very easy to eat, noodles were great and sauce was tasty. My toddler loved the broccoli and noodles. I don't understand the appeal of chicken cashew but my husband was happy with his choice. Chicken was very tender and peppers still had a nice bite. We weren't fans of the fried tofu, not our favorite, but the dipping sauce was good. The curry puffs were soooo good ! It actually made me so excited to order from them again so we can try their curry options. My toddler devoured the pickled veggies and wouldn't share!
