Came in a 230pm today. Ordered Miami heat roll and ginger chicken. Ginger chicken came out warm like it was microwaved, usually food is steaming hot. Egg roll ice cold too.I was the only person in the whole restaurant. Server forgot about my sushi roll as well. Had to ask for it to be made. Both server and lady behind sushi bar have horrible attitudes for one person being in the Restaurant. Most likely will never be back or recommend this place to anyone in the future. read more

Everything was plated very well, and had lots of flavor. Chicken in the pineapple fried rice was a little dry. I will say this pad Thai was the sauciest I've had, but not as peanut-y as I'm used to (which isn't a bad thing). It's good but our favorite was Thai Rama 9 down the street, which unfortunately closed. Everything here is fresh and lovingly prepared. I think eating in had richer tastes than getting the food to go. Who knows why, maybe the lovely servers add to the ambiance while dining in. I'd definitely return for convenience sake while in the Gulf Boulevard area, but might choose another of the many Thai restaurants, if inland. read more

Had to leave another review because we came back here a couple weeks ago and this place was a lot better than the first time we came. The fish was great tasting and fresh and I loved the roll I ordered. I think it was the muscle man roll ... it was a deep fried roll with salmon and yellowtail. We also tried the beef spicy basil noodles and they were sooooo tasty. We did not re order the pad Thai because of our last experience , but I wonder now if it has been improved. read more

Very unassuming, home-in-the wall sushi and Thai restaurant. The inside is extremely small with only a handful of tables. Service was extremely slow considering we were one of the only two tables seated at the time, to the point where we had to get up and get our own menus at one point because we were tired of waiting for them. The server was very friendly at least. We started with edamame, which came out piping hot and perfectly seasoned. It was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered two different sushi rolls. I found them to be just ok. They were very thin and not presented in the prettiest of manners (the rice seems hacked up and a few of the pieces were falling apart). The description of them sounded better than what I actually got. Nothing special or memorable. My parents had two different hot thai dishes and loved them so maybe I just got the wrong thing. The portion sizes of theirs were huge too. If I go next time I'll try one of the hot dishes instead and stay away from the sushi. read more

Thai Star Sushi was great! The best chicken satay I've had in a really long time! A small and cozy restaurant with lots of fun things inside to look at while you are dining. Fast friendly service. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are ample. We also had the crab Rangoon. It was delicious! Served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. For the entrée I had Thai basil noodles with grilled shrimp. Also very tasty. If you feel like having a sushi day have numerous unique rolls and sashimi. Plenty of free parking outside and really close to the beach. Good for lunch and dinner for you or the whole family. read more

We were staying in a condo for the weekend within walking distance of Thai Star Sushi Bar. We got in late on a Friday night (around 7 PM) and then walked over to the restaurant around 8 PM. They don't have a large dining room, and it was pretty full in there, but we did manage to get a table right away. They have an extensive Thai and sushi menu. We were all in the mood for Thai, though, so we focused on that. I love Pad Thai, but everyone else at my table was ordering that, so I decided to get something else. I ordered the Thai Spicy Basil Noodle (hot). It was delicious and spicy. I tried a little bit of the Pad Thai, too, and it was flavorful as well. The food came out quickly, too! Our server was great. She was super friendly and attentive. We only wanted waters for our beverages, and they come in these giant-sized Mason jars. Thai Star is a great local place to avoid the madness of the crowds at the beach. read more

I said to myself "Self, if I order this Red Curry (Bamboo shoots, bell pepper, basil leaves, coconut milk) Thai hot and it comes Thai hot and not whatever watered down heat level they reserve for white women it is an automatic 5 stars no matter whatever else happens during this meal." And it WAS. My eyes were watering, I was sweating, I was in absolute heaven. It is so rare for me to get to this level of heat and I ate every morsel. Just bonus points that the curry was delicious and we had a very nice server. Also got to try the Gyoza and Chicken Satay - these were good but nothing like that curry. Negatives: When the gal brought the waters, she set them on the table as if she was angry we were inconveniencing her by making her bring us drinks in the first place. The chirashi had fake crab "krab". Gross. I wouldn't feed my dog fake krab. The prices were average, but too expensive for this quality of food. They have escolar on the menu. The focus here is obviously on the Thai food not the sushi. The interior is cluttered, and there's just stuff everywhere. There was a giant pile of napkins laying on the sushi bar next to a bunch of empty boxes. Positives: Parking was easy (Monday afternoon at 3pm) Fair prices for the Thai food if the portions are average (we didn't try the Thai food; only the sushi) We will not be back here. read more

I know at some level we should be adventurous and check out another restaurant but this place is just so special and just so good that we don't want to miss the opportunity. Decided to try a different sushi spot. I ordered the Sugar Momma and Mexican Roll for takeout. It was a 30 to 40 min wait for takeout which is longer than the 15 to 20 min wait I'm used to. The restaurant is right across the beach with a clean and comfortable interior. The sushi was good for the price, however I did come across two problems. First, I asked for soy sauce and didn't get any. Second, the Sugar Momma was supposed to have avocado inside but instead they put cucumber....which is a little disappointing because I don't like cucumber in sushi. I wasn't really able to enjoy the roll much because of this, but despite the cucumber mistake I could tell the sushi was good quality. If I were nearby, I would give this place a second try for a dine-in experience. read more

Went here around 5:00pm on a weekday. Glad we got there early because several more people came in after us & the place filled up quickly. We got shrimp fresh rolls, spring rolls, red curry, a sexy lady sushi roll & mexican sushi roll. Overall we were pretty impressed & everything was good. The sexy lady sushi roll comes tempura style. Most of the tempura rolls i've had are cooked long enough to cook the fish inside, but sometimes that can lead to an overcooked, tough & dry roll. This one was lightly cooked, so the fish was still raw, which i don't typically like, but i thought was pretty good. The spring rolls were perfection! So crispy, yet not very greasy. The fresh rolls tasted good, but there wasn't much basil in them & had a lot more noodles in them than we are used to. I would definitely recommend asking for double the basil in them. This restaurant was absolutely amazing! They blew my mind away on how well it was all running even with such short staff. Im sure the cooks back there are slinging away love and great vibes because the front of the house was nothing but smiles and smooth energy (even though in masks, I could tell they were smiling not freaking out). There was 1 server (the other server showed up later in the shift) and she was killing it! I wish I could remember her name but she was so kind and attentive and was seriously doing her best and not letting the rush get to her inner soul. Food was delicious! I recommend 100%. Be kind. Stopped in to Thai Star for a solo lunch date. And I was so satisfied with the food. The ton yum seafood soup was packed with flavor. The first spoon full did a traditional thai dance on the tastebuds. Their was a piece of shrimp, mussel, squid, and scallop in it. My only complaint is that I wish it was more. I almost ordered a bowl to go. The spicy girl roll was delicious as well. But that soup was certainly the star. A very good lunch indeed read more
