I usually don't like to leave negative reviews, actually i've never left a bad review EVER. we usually order take out from this place because the food here is AMAZING it's soooooo yummy 100% recommend the FOOD for takeout. Last night we decided to dine in, the service was one of the worst we've had from this place. Our server was distracted and we repeated our order to her 3 times. I understand if you are distracted and can't perform your job effectively. I ordered a drink (hibiscus vodka) and when she made my first drink it had no vodka in it. No biggie but for a drink i'm paying $15 for, there better be vodka in it (which is a separate drink from the non alcoholic one) I asked her to remake the drink with vodka and she gave me the exact same drink (again, different from the drink with 0 alcohol) with a shot of vodka. When we paid our tab we noticed that we never got 2 rolls we ordered. Avocado and cucumber and one california roll. We asked the server (different girl) and she said that the cook made two california rolls, which is completely fine if you guys said you made it then cool, but where was it on my plate?????. When i asked her about my drink being charged $14 + $8.95 for a shot of vodka she told me that i should be glad tha i was charged $6 instead of $7 for the drink she usually would've charged. But that didn't reflect on the bill mathematically. when we were walking out to our car, disappointed by the service from our original server, she (the original server) CHASED US OUT TO OUR CAR. and she said "excuse me you didn't tip?" and i said "i'm sorry? tipping is optional and i don't think you did a great job serving us" and she said "it's not my fault you ordered the wrong thing" and i said "okay listen, i'm not going to tip because i didn't think your service was good, plus we had to repeat ourselves multiple times and you were rude." and she kept going on and arguing with me about a tip. and i told her "this is not okay, thank you. you have a good night, good bye" and as i walked away i can hear her under her breath saying "oh my god" my fiancé laughed because we just couldn't believe she was demanding a tip for awful service and hospitality. I understand if you work a job where you rely on tips to make a livable wage, trust me i've been there. but it's absolutely ridiculous knowing this information, being an awful server and STILL demanding a tip. tipping is optional ESPECIALLY when the service was awful. we are usually big tippers but this kind of attitude and service coming from a server that is i supposed to be friendly, hospitable and NICE (because it's literally the bare minimum part your JOB DESCRIPTION) we will refuse to tip and reward negative behavior. read more

The food was great. But the server didn't bring back my change. Then when she finally got me the change it was short by $5. When I pointed it out she claimed that that she give me two fives and two ones. In fact she give me one five and two ones. We went there for lunch and got the lunch combos. I got the pad thai while my dad got the crab fried rice. The pad thai was unremarkable, but the crab fried rice was quite good. The other items in the lunch combo were good, but nothing to write home about, except the tom yum soup which was great. My judgment may be skewed here since I love tom yum soup. This restaurant is nestled in a basic strip mall in the center of Winthrop. The decor is simple, black high top tables with booths line the side across from the bar, and low top tables like the opposite. We were greeted immediately and sat in a high top booth. The menu is extensive with several different types of options. We chose the shrimp volcano which was a bit underwhelming, the seaweed salad was tasty, the Winthrop at the beach sushi roll was delicious, and not pictured is the spicy cashew plate with chicken. The breading on the chicken was soggy and fell right off. That was something we read in other reviews so be aware. The drinks were good and service was excellent. I love Thai Taki! I've only been twice, but had great an experience each time, and great food and drinks! I was so excited my UFO blueberry was served WITH blueberries! because not a lot of places actually serve blueberry beers with it. The tuna tower was delicious, avocado and tuna was deliciously fresh! Everything was delicious! I ordered a seafood tum yum noodle soup (forgot to take a picture), my bf ordered a few orders of sushi, and he was also VERY happy and satisfied with the food. He ordered a mango drink that was DELICIOUS! Not like something I've tasted before. Ambiance was nice, it always usually empty and quiet when I've gone. I wish they stayed open later. Our go to sushi spot just 10 minutes from Revere beach. They have some really good rolls here and the thai food is great! We usually get the papaya salad with anchovies. It actually comes with a fermented crab and is a pretty authentic thai papaya salad. For the rolls we've tried a ton and haven't been disappointed. We regularly get the hotate bomb but we found the takoyaki a bit doughy. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking but if needed there's another lot across the street. They also have live jazz on Fridays which I think is a tad loud but the regular patrons at the bar really enjoy. read more

This has some decent food offerings. The curry dishes are very good. The Sushi and Maki are okay overall but not wonderful. I ordered the Pad Thai dish the other day and chose pork as the protein addition. The noodles were nicely flavored but the pork was sub-par. For the most part it was mostly pork fat. There were no lean pieces at all. Pork fat is made up primarily of saturated fats and that is not a very healthy food. I would stay away from any dish at Thai Taki that includes pork. read more

I went to Thai Taki with some friends, and we were amazed! In addition to Thai food and Japanese cuisine, Thai Taki also has a full bar for drinks. I would like to come again in the future. It is very suitable for friends to eat, drink, and hang out together. Our favorite is probably the Crab Fried Rice, it is really delicious, and we finished it right away. Pad THAI and Pad SEE EW are two Thai dishes that people often order. I really like the taste of these two dishes at Thai Taki. They are not be too sweet or too greasy. We love Thai Taki at our house. They have some of the best crab rangoons we've ever had, filled with lots of green onion and tons of flavor. You get 5 per order, standard size. We usually go on Fridays and enjoy sitting and the bar and listening to the live music. While my friends don't love the tunes (they can be loud) I personally LOVE it. We've had the fried rice, noodles, and curry and love them all. The bartender is so nice and friendly, the drinks vary in strength depending on the day. When sitting at a table the service isn't as great as it can take a while to put your order in when busy. read more

Thai Taki is located at 7 Michaels Mall in Winthrop, MA. It is located in a strip mall. There is ample parking. Driving in, I couldn't help but feel that the restaurant seemed out of place next to the sequence of businesses on the strip. Once you get over the location and inside of the restaurant, the interior is very modern. There is plenty of bar seating on one side of the restaurant and plenty of dining tables on the opposite side of the restaurant. The restaurant is still in the soft opening phase when I came for dinner. It has a Thai and Japanese menu. From the Thai menu, I ordered the shrimp pad Thai, chicken coconut soup, and the beef boat noodle soup. These staple Thai dishes were pretty solid. The chicken coconut soup had a nice light creamy coconut broth with just a just a few drops of chili oil to top it off. The shrimp pad Thai was also good, very standard. I had really high hopes for the boat noodle since this is one of my favorite noodle soups. Perhaps my high expectations led me to be slightly disappointed. I thought the beef slices was bit tough to chew and the beef ball did not have a good texture. I also wasn't a fan of the slices of Chinese broccoli on the soup. I think, if I hadn't tried a better version of this soup elsewhere, I would have enjoyed it more. Although I cannot place Thai Taki in my top three Thai restaurant list, I would say that it's not bad either. From the Japanese menu, I ordered miso soup, the salmon ikura don, and the Winthrop on Da Beach sushi roll. My general feeling is that the restaurant is really trying hard with their plating and presentation. For example, the salmon ikura Don was beautiful presented but it also needed to be refined. It could do without the sprinkle of rice seasoning. The sprinkle of seaweed and sesame seed made it felt childishly presented. I would sprinkle some rice seasoning on my kids rice to flavor it or I would use it to season the rice to make rice balls for my children. I wasn't expecting this at a restaurant setting. Less is more. My recommendation is to focus on seasoning the Japanese rice with sushi vinegar instead and not use the rice seasoning sprinkles. The sushi roll that I tried, the Winthrop on Da Beach, was also beautifully presented but it did not taste as good as it looked. The sweet and sour sauce does not go with the raw salmon. I think it would be wise to remove the sauce. Again, less is more. Our waitress was attentive throughout. You can tell the restaurant is really trying hard with their presentation. In my opinion, they need to work on refining their presentation and plating of their food. As they fine tune their menu and flavoring, I hope to give them another try down the road if I am in the area. I wish them the best. See my pictures. read more

I recently made a trip to Thai Taki and I LOVED it! I have always loved ThaiBarShi and recently discovered WhatDaChick. I had to visit Thai Taki as they are owned by the same group and it was everything I had expected and BETTER. There is parking right outside of the restaurant, if all are taken, give it a couple mins, theres always someone leaving. When you walk into the restaurant, you're greated by the most beautiful mural with the name of the restaurant. Thai Taki offers a full bar with amazing drinks, I loved the perfect balance between flavor and alcohol. The drinks are more flavorful than alcoholy, and I loved that the drinks aren't overly artifically sweetened. My fave part is watching them make the drinks, the confidence, the colors and the results, all super satisfying :D We were amazed at how beautiful the food was plated, OF COURSE we took a million pictures and dug right in. Everything was super flavorful, seasoned perfectly and I just can't complain about anything. They had some of the best Thai classics I've ever had (pad see ew, drunken noodles, pad thai, etc). They also have some really tasty sushi and a small sushi bar at the end of the bar. Overall, I would say, Thai Taki has it all! Wonderful Thai restaurant in the heart of Winthrop centre. Visited about a week ago, to take someone to lunch. When we arrived I think they just opened for service they were very friendly and answered questions. Food was very good, I had pad Thai and my friend had the spring rolls and chicken wings, two/2 appetizers. Very generous she took home the rest. The decor is very elegant, it filled up as we ate, but was very nice so we were able to have conversation and catch up, etc. They did not rush us, waitress was very nice and friendly. Food was good quality and I think prices for lunch for two/2 on par with dining in Boston, perhaps a little less. read more

As soon as we ordered, the waitress disappeared and had to attention for another employee walking by to ask for refills. My husband and I went for lunch today. Everything was delicious!! The rangoons were big, the Tom Yum soup had a great spicy flavor, the salmon sushi melted in your mouth like butter. I came to this restaurant with my significant other for lunch. We started with the hotate hokkaiyaki bomb, tuna tower and tako wassabi. Then, we made our way to papaya salad, two orders of salmon sashimi, drunken noodles, and patriots roll. Ended our meal with a complimentary oyster booster from the chef. I was impressed with the quality of all the food. Most important part is that their sashimi were fresh. Never thought I'd try tako (octopus) but I'm glad I did because turns out, I don't hate it. My personal favorite would be the hotate hokkaiyaki bomb, tuna tower, tako wassabi, and the oyster booster. Overall, I would highly recommend! We ordered sushi (sweet potato, salmon avocado, and spicy tuna) and pad Thai to go. They put the hot sushi (not even sure why the sweet potato was steaming hot) in the same container as the cold sushi, causing the rice and the other rolls to be soggy. The tuna and salmon had this weird fishy taste and my husband who normally eats everything couldn't finish. The pad Thai was edible but not authentic. Noodles and veggies were overcooked and soggy. We've had Thai Taki a few times and we've enjoyed it every time! Our go to order is pad Thai with shrimp, a couple rolls of sushi and some crab Rangoons or scallion pancakes. A single order of pad Thai can be split between two people as long as you're getting other items on top of it, which is nice! One visit our pad Thai was a bit burnt so it was disappointing, but that seemed to just be a one off. Our favorite roll is probably the fluffy maki. A bit expensive, but very tasty, and filling. I am excited to try even more from here! read more

We tried twice. They had items marked vegan on their menu. Ordering was confusing the staff. The second time they prepared the food wrong, and only noticed when we got him with the take out. After a couple back and forths with them to get money back, they did. However, they told us they changed the whole menu and was not offering vegan options anymore!!! Some of the food is good, but very expensive for the portions and inconsistent quality. I ordered takeout from here a few times and haven't had an issue until the last time when I ordered crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon from this restaurant are tiny as it is, and all came completely empty as the filling had leaked out when frying, and they were also over-fried and hard. It took two phone calls over 3 days to get a refund for them but I eventually did get it. Crying tiger is delicious but the beef is extremely fatty and not properly rendered so there's not a lot of actual meat to eat in (once again) an already small and expensive order. read more

The sushi was fresh, the appetizers were great (crab rangoons were stacked with crab especially!), Thai entrees were better than all Thai places available to delivery in Winthrop (pad Thai was sooo flavorful) and the waitstaff were hustling to make everyone have a great experience on night 1! Stopped in pretty last minute, after 9:00 pm. I was immediately greeted by waitstaff and the owner, welcoming me to the restaurant. I ordered quickly, after speaking with the chef/owner for his recommendations. I started with Tam Maak Hoong, Papaya Salad with Anchovy. Their side salad of papaya, which I'd had previously, was delicious, but this brought the spice and flavors to another level of complexity and heat. It instantly became my new favorite. Next was the Pork Boat Noodle Soup. It reminded me of a hearty ramen, with pork, rice noodles, and vegetables in a pork blood based stock. I was initially slightly wary because of the basis of the stock, but I needn't have been. The bowl was empty in no time, and the broth was spicy and a little sweet. An absolute home run! Finally, my entree was Nam Tok Moo, a spicy dish of pork with vegetables and a pepper dressing. Spicy, and very tasty. I accompanied this with a small bowl of sushi rice, and a Thai iced tea for dessert. I unintentionally finished well after closing, but was not rushed in the slightest by the staff. This is my second time here, and it's still a soft opening - but the menu still has a pretty wide variety of Thai and sushi items, all of which are prepared quickly and with great care. Thai Taki was a pleasant surprise to the neighborhood! The menu was pretty large which was not a bad thing as you can order traditional Thai dishes or opt for a whole sushi night. My wife and I had the Tuna Tower to start; I had the cashew chicken and she had the spice basil dinner dish. Great date night and on a Saturday night 80% of their business was takeout?! Not sure why this place is being underutilized but go take a look if you're from the area and have not been yet. read more
