De Parma completely blew us away--honestly, everything was delicious. We ordered a lot of food, but it was totally worth it and we have no regrets. The chicken parm dinner with ziti was cooked perfectly, and both the lobster ravioli and gnocchi were flavorful!! Even the clams (the best we've ever had) and the sides of salad and pasta fagioli, we couldn't put our forks down. Another regular place I visit whenever I am home. I bring everyone here, and I am here multiple times a week honestly. Everything here is good from the bread, the appetizers, the drinks, to the main course. I even just love a basic Caesar salad with chicken cutlets from here. Some of my go tos are the 3 cheese pasta, and the chicken salt and boca. I prefer to eat in here, the 4/5 comes from the fact that take out often lacks, but thats not totally unexpected, and sometimes service can be slow, but its usually a perfect experience, and I go there often. The vibes here are also nice, its a smaller place, but pretty. In the summer they also have an outdoor patio. read more

Oh my! How do I begin to explain the Janus of Winthrop. I have gotten takeout from this place for years -- subs are decent -- this is your place to find a good eggplant parm or meatball sandwich. I can't really explain why I like their chicken and broccoli pasta. Normally I don't care for a heavy sauce but the generous chunks of chicken and broccoli mixed with ziti in a creamy sauce leave me looking for bread to sop up the extra. What's the other face here? Well -- the restaurant is a bit dark and kitschy and, on my last trip, smelled of cleaning products. I guess cleanliness is good but, on this day, godliness was not nearby. The dish was good, but I wish there was more chicken as it seemed like a thin chicken cutlet. Our server was very friendly and pretty attentive. Went in for dinner on a Saturday night. We were able to get seated immediately, water and bread was on the table in minutes and they grabbed our drink order super fast. The cocktail menu looks amazing, I wish we could have tried them but that'll be for our next visit. The bread was delicious! The salads that came as part of the meal were great! Fresh crisp lettuce, onion, pepper and great dressing. Dinner was linguini and clams in red sauce and linguini carbonara. We were both thrilled with the quality of dinner. Lots of proteins, generous portion of pasta and the sauces were delicious. I would 100% order both again but there's more I want to try when we go back. Paper thin "pieces" of overcooked veal in my Saltimbocca - same situation with my son's veal dish. The large concrete blocks under the outside tables make seating a nightmare and that is ridiculous. My wife did enjoy here chicken dish and the eggplant app. Was good but not nearly good enough to make the meal and venue acceptable. Message to mgt. "If you can't do it right, don't bother having it on the menu!" Will not be going back, as there are far many more fine Italian restaurants nearby! read more

Moderately priced restaurant with excellent cuisine. My partner and I had the Veal Pizzaiola and Eggplant Rolls. The sauce on the pizzaiola was a little garlicky, but the veal was incredibly tender. The bread for the table was also excellent (though we weren't the chili oil to come with it), but the absolute winner of the bunch was the Eggplant rolls. Perfect balance of cheese, sauce, and eggplant and the fresh basil on top was the piece de resistance. 4 stars because, while still attentive and patient, the servers were a bit loud while chatting on break at one of the empty tables. Once again , an excellent meal this past Sunday. The young lady we had for a waitress ( sorry , bad with names ) was very patient and helpful with a great menu. First time ordering from here. My son and I were plane spotting at Coughlin Park and he wanted a meatball sub for lunch. Saw the great reviews online and asked a resident who confirmed that they were good. Ordered two subs (meatball and D'Parma #1) and an order of Linguini Pomodoro. The subs did not disappoint!! My son said it was one of the best meatball subs he's ever had. I didn't get a chance to try it because he ate it so fast but I believe him because my D'Parma was delish! You can tell the prosciutto and the sopressata that I had them add were fresh, as were the tomatoes and mozzarella. The bread was nice and fresh too, although I personally like a crunchier type bread. The linguini on the other hand was inedible. It was extremely overcooked. Just mushy and gross. It's a shame though because you could tell the sauce was good (and being a native Sicilian, it's hard to find a restaurant that serves sauce that you like). The establishment was adorable. The staff was really nice. The prices were fair. I'm not from the area so I'd have to make a special trip to come back here but when I am in the area again, I would definitely try it again. read more

So we've been D'Parma fans for a while. We get lunch from them every two weeks- Chicken Parm sub for him and minestrone or Italian wedding soup for me. Tonight we ordered from there for our 19 year old's birthday. She loved her chicken parm, but the real star was the spinach ravioli that our 7 1/2 month old HOUSED!!! Ate half the portion. And who can blame her!?!? Mama tried a piece and I assure you, it's delicious! I mean... if they can make both of our children happy, there's little they can't do. Go here! Eat everything. I ordered 5 subs and 4 of them were absolutely terrible, basically inedible. Two turkey subs had rubbery ends of the turkey loaf. The chicken in the chicken parm sub was so thin that the breading was thicker than the chicken. The Italian sub has so many hots that all that could be tasted was the hots and burned your mouth. The eggplant in the eggplant parm sub was good and a great size portion, however the tomato sauce had no flavor. On top of this, the bread used for each sub was stale. I returned the subs to show the restaurant what they gave me and they did refund me and said this would not happen again. I have eaten at De Parma's several times in the past and it's been fine. Not sure what is going on there now but I will never go back. read more

In town for only a couple days from Fort Worth Texas and really craving some great Italian food. Now we could have gone to Little Italy in Boston. However it was a cold and slightly damp night so decided to try something closer to our hotel. This was recommended by the hotel staff. When we walked in it gave us the neighborhood mom and pop feel. Very friendly waitress met us at the door and took us to our table. It wasn't very crowded for a Thursday night but it was also after 8:30. She brought us out a loaf of great bread and waters. I ordered the linguine with clam sauce and my son had the grilled chicken Caesar salad. While waiting for our food I sat back and watched the staff working and interacting with the other tables. They came across as really caring about everyone's experience. The ambience is a little romantic too. I saw families eating next to couples that were on dates. Our food came out fairly quickly and delivered by our smiling waitress. My linguine with clam sauce was extraordinary! Just enough to satisfy my hunger and tastes great! My son loved his salad. We finished it off with a slice of tiramisu. It was my sons first time to try it and he really liked it. Some of the best I've had. From the eggplant roll up appetizer topped with the sauce to the gnocchi and other pastas, it doesn't get any better for an adorable local spot. The first time we came here, they had a mind-blowing crab cake special which you could have argued came straight from the Chesapeake Bay. They also serve fresh bread (you often see all this fresh french bread delivered and can smell it wafting through) with their signature infused evoo which I top with parm and red pepper flakes for optimal spice. Their creamy pesto sauce and any pasta, grilled swordfish with veggies and side of pasta, along with espresso and desserts are pure comfort food and prices are on point. My husband and I brought a friend up D'Parma on Friday night for dinner, as she was staying with us for the weekend. Our experience....just fantastic! We walked down from our house in Point Shirley. A great way to start off the evening before dinner. I had the Swordfish Puttanesca, which is always one of my favorites...the flavors (Anchovies, capers, basil, olives and tomato sauce) is so good! 4.5 stars This is a cute BYOB Italian restaurant close to Winthrop Beach. Before COVID, we would go here about once a week for a weekend late lunch. The service is great and so is the food. Their red sauce is a little watery for my liking, but it still holds up. During COVID, we would come here almost every weekend and get takeout subs. THEY ARE BOMB. Get the D'Parma special and the meatball. The bread is perfectly crispy and they have the best meatballs I've ever tasted. Finally a resteraunt that does not break the bank. After living in the North End for 5 years and now being in the Winthrop Revere area I have come to appreciate D'Parmas. The inside is very reminscent of that Italian resteraunt every town has. The service is good and the setting is very informal--very European with BYO alcohol (huge plus). I have had better food here than I have at many places in the North End and yeah even Italy. It has a huge menu but does not miss on the flavor. First off, walked in and it was so homey and welcoming! It gave such a cute little Italian family restaurant vibe. I went to this restaurant for my friends post graduation dinner, she had made a reservation prior to attending. The table was set by the time we got there and was greeted promptly. I was excited to eat here. My wife and I enjoyed eating here when we first started dating, and it had been years since we had been here. We came on a Saturday night, it was quite busy and it was a half hour wait. But this tiny place was packed. What I enjoy about this place is the corking fee, BYOB baby! But noooooo, that has anchovies and would make someone else not enjoy their meal because they think it would smell bad. So it was settled on Swordfish Pizzaiola (by the way it was pretty good). First course, bread basket! Toasted Italian bread to satiate the appetite. Second course! Salad (garden with Italian) that comes with each meal. Nice and simple. Main course! Swordfish Pizzaiola was very good, I enjoyed it. Nice small serving of pasta, was a nice size swordfish and very filling. Although we have not dined here in quite a while, we all had wonderful recollection of previous experiences. Now all I can ask is what happened D'Parma's??? We came in with high expectations with each of us opting for a pasta dish. Unfortunately, they did not deliver. I'm not certain if they hired a new chef, but each of our meals were beyond bland. No amount of pepper, salt, nor cheese could give these dishes any flavor. The portions themselves also are rather small. We recalled in the past being able to take a large portion of it home, but not this visit. Overall, aside from the bread, the quality just didn't cut for us. We were very much disappointed.
