great overall thai place. sit in the rear, as the front seats by the bar is too loud due to the noise bouncing off the walls. the food preparation is excellent, everything that we have tried is very tasty, complex spices, they really adjust their level of spiciness to your taste. wait staff service is excellent. excellent menu item: papaya salad, ask for it spicy! best thai place in town! they have parking in the rear, just a few spots, but there are more parking spaces next to the rib place. read more

before they renovated it several years ago, it really used to be a great place for delivery - good portions, and decent price. especially, their fresh spring rolls used to be huge and full of fresh vegetables. After the renovation, they really needed to recoup their costs or so it seems, because their fresh spring rolls were all pretty much the wrap (very minimal veggies inside), became tiny and of course more expensive. 3 dishes hovered the $35-40 mark, which just seemed ridiculous. Less food at a higher price. I'm no longer ordering from here, even tho it is only 1.5 miles away from where i live. what a disappointment. read more

Just went for lunch with a friend and enjoyed it! That is, until I started feeling sick to my stomach afterwards... Ate the Sesame Shrimp for an appetizer and loved are crispy and fresh the dish tasted. The sauce was just sweet enough without being overkill. It complimented the shrimp very nicely. We both got an order of Chicken Pad See You to share, then my friend got the BBQ Pork lunch plate (which she loved) and I got the Orange Chicken lunch plate. The Pad See You was lacking in overall flavor, with the noodles being just barely cooked. The chicken was simply processed, ground up chicken into a coated chicken meatball with orange sauce over it. While the presentation was very nice, there wasn't much orange-y flavor throughout, even when drenched in the sauce. The salad was fresh, but the dressing tasted too much like mustard to taste anything else. And the rice was nearly inedible as it was so overpowered with cumin flavor. We both shared a coconut ice cream for dessert and it was as if some parts were gummy and then frozen. But it tasted homemade, and that was a plus! Overall, the decor was very nice and simple. Hardly anyone was there and service was very personalized and friendly. Not sure if I'd consider going back since there are so many great Thai restaurants in the area (Siam, Thai Dishes, Ayara Thai -- the latter being a favorite of mine), but it certainly wasn't terrible... just not memorable. read more

There is no comparison. This place is hands down the best Thai food you'll get on this side of Los Angeles. Anyone who writes a bad review is probably a rival Thai place or a yelp worker trying to extort money from the owner so that he'll sign up just to defend his restaurant. Go here, try the food, and then try and tell me it's not amazing. Some of the favorites are the "Red Devil Noodles", "Spicy Fried Rice", and for drinks try the "Basil Gimlet". It's all amazing, it's all delicious and the price is extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the decor of the place. I never expected any restaurant of quality to come from this little area of Westchester but wow did it exceed my expectations. Try it, you won't regret it. read more

I been here before and thought the food was great. Tonight I came with a friend and everything was fine . When the bill came we paid and I didn't want to tip on my card because I had cash. The waitress took the black book so quick I figured I'd just leave the tip on the table when we got ready to leave. Well to my suprise the waitress came back to our table immediately and asked was everything ok. I responded it was fine. She then said you didn't leave a tip. I was so confused never had a restaurant worker do that .it def changed my experience with the place, don't think I'll go back anytime soon. read more

The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was very cozy. My only complaint was that the prices are a bit high for the serving sizes. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of food, and I didn't leave hungry, but the servings are pretty small for the prices they charge. The Lemongrass Scallops were great, but at $11 for 3 half dollar sized scallops, I felt like it wasn't worth the money. I ended up getting the Panang Curry for dinner, which was extremely flavorful but small for $10. The rice was separate ($1.50 for a small bowl). All in all dinner for 2 was about $75 after tip I would come back, but there are other places that are just as good for much less money. read more

it is in westchester, so expect to pay more than normal for your food. i would not mind the extra expense, but my food was bland. how do you manage to have little to no flavor in thai food? i ordered the Pad See Ew which I get everywhere. they are sometimes called drunken noodles; the wide blackened noodles that are made usually in a soy sauce based sauce. i got it with egg and broccoli but it literally tasted like noodles and raw broccoli. i was unimpressed. the waitress was also not very friendly and seemed like i was bothering her by asking for more water. the stars are for the decor because it is pretty inside, but i have definitely had better thai food. there is a really great place behind the iHop on Manchester and Sepulveda. cheaper and food is better if you are in the area. its called THAI DISHES. read more

This restaurant is very nicely decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and modern accents. The decor definitely enhanced our dining experience. The FOOD: We started with the sampler as an appetizer, which came with 2 chicken satays, 2 spring rolls, 2 golden shrimps, and 4 dumplings, each with their own dipping sauce. This was nothing special and i would probably not order it again. We then had the blue crab salad with avocado and a chili lime dressing, which was really good and refreshing. There was a generous amount of crab on top of the salad as well. The fried rice here was good, but nothing outstanding, which explains why I can't remember which of the fried rice dishes we had exactly. The drunken noodles, however, were very good and probably one of the better dishes of the night. We also had the yellow curry and roasted duck curry, which were tasty, but if you were only going to choose one ... i would go with the roasted duck curry. The prig king, which is green beans and chicken, was a little too oily for me, but everyone else seemed to like the dish. Overall I thought this place was good, but just mediocre. read more

Well.. Thai Talay is back. I just had dinner there with a friend tonight. They've done a major remodeling and upscaled a bit. No more aquarium and there's now some interesting ceiling work. Be quick to place your napkin on your lap or the waitress might do it for you. The food was good quality and tasty. I used to go there regularly as I work in the area and it was a great place for a quick Thai dinner to eat there or take out. Unfortunately, because the restaurant's prices have jumped up a bit and I'm on a budget, I won't be back as often as before. read more

Had to finally ask myself for a plate to eat it as well as cutlery as the servants were too busy talking to each other. Food was mediocre and the service was very poor. Thought it would be nice to try the rather nifty online ordering system...after an hour we had not received our delivery order. My fiance and I decided to call only to be told the order had not been received because no one walked over to the computer to check for orders. We then jumped in our car to pick up the food (the restaurant is only 6 mins away). They did not offer a discount or any condolence for that matter. This will be our last visit to Thai Talay, regretfully so, because I loved their spicy eggplant! Went in wth two other buddies. I had the TT pork dish and other has the bento and fried rice. The bento came with fried shrimp abut the shrimp was not tempura style and not sure if menu said tempura. But real tempura is not the same as that fried crap like you see at H Salt fish and chips. But then why order japanese at thai place? Don't ask me. It was my buddy. Thai Talay is typically my go-to place for Thai food. I usually order from Uber Eats or go into the restaurant at least once a month or every other month. Was craving the panang curry, so decided to order delivery to my office. I was very sad to see that the curry tastes and looks nothing like it did a month ago! This is the only thing I ever get at Thai Talay and it's depressing to see my favorite dish ruined. There was little to no flavor and seems almost like the curry is too oily?? I had the Spicy Basil with a combo of meats and asked for it to be prepared with a little extra heat and it was good with the perfect amount of spice. A little different that I'm used to but good. This place is not very good at all. I used to order take out from them a few years back and I must say the quality just is not the same. First off, when I placed my order over the phone, the woman who took my order was very rude. I ordered two types of curry. One was the California vegan curry which is supposed to have a lot of vegetables. Since it doesn't even have tofu or anything a little more substantial, you would think it would be full of lots of veggies. That just wasn't the case. There were maybe 4 broccoli florets, a few thin sliced pieces of carrots, and the rest was all bamboo shoots. Tons and tons of bamboo shoots. It was pretty disappointing. That was the same for the second item ordered. On top of all of that, you have to pay extra for rice? Shouldn't it come with rice? Am I supposed to drink my curry? I guess I could have considering there wasn't much in it aside from the liquid. I won't be going back here. You definitely don't get what you pay for and the food doesn't even taste great to boot. read more

I completely agree with other reviews. They are racism. I am interracial family and we felt completely ignored. We were greeted upon entering and seated in the middle of the restaurant on busy Friday night. I wished we could sit on the booth.Nobody came and asked if we are ok or cleaned our table. But I witnessed our server went to other table next to us and completely took good care of them. Yes they are 4 white folks. Why we were treated differently then other white customers. We don't know. this place is really good. i heard they just had a makeover, it definitely shows. went here for lunch, we ordered: tom yum soup tofu: soooo tasty! they bring u the bowl with tofu and mushrooms in it then pour in the broth...its a nice visual effect. the soup was really tasty, just lime-y enough and not at all salty! pad see ew: i judge most thai places by their pad see ew and this one passes. i like mine kind of dark and this was the perfect color...and unlike my neighborhood thai place this wasn't bland at all. the lady at the table next to us said it looked good and ordered the same thing...we were going to ask her what she thought of it when we left but she had already cleaned her plate, its that good. mixed veggies: this was perfect...the light sauce really gives it a good flavor. overall i was extremely satisfied with my meal. our waitress was nice...we got there around 11:30 or so, just before the lunch rush. unfortunately they do not encourage sharing, so we had to eat our soup from the same bowl until we finished our rice and had an empty bowl. my friend commented that maybe if we would have ordered our other food then said we were going to share the soup they would have been more accommodating. oh well. i'll definitely be back to test out whether this was a fluke or if its really that good. read more
