Jetta Thai has reopened as Jetta Thai Express. It shares a location with Cafe Toast and opens after Toast closes. You order from the tablet (or up front) much like Cafswiftly. The dishes are kind of like a small plates setting. A bowl is just a small amount of food to accompany your base (rice or veggies). The bowls are said to rotate by the day which I take to mean as preprepared (hence express). The staff were polite and brought the food out swiftly. I ordered a fried rice base and a green curry chicken bowl. The fried rice was a bit too wet (like freshly cooked rice turned into fried rice) and lacking a strong soy sauce presence; however, it does mean that it pairs well with the curry without being overwhelming. The curry has a bright fresh flavor with a creamy coconut milk taste and was definitely the highlight of the meal. I also managed to sample their soft serve. The flavors were Thai tea and blue butterfly. They tasted pretty standard and the Thai tea and blue butterfly definitely shone through, but not much else. All in all, one of the better places to eat at in El Segundo and the small plates style is definitely an interesting concept. read more

The concept is interesting and needs a lot of tinkering. In the morning this place is a cafe called Toast, and after they transition it to a pickup only location. As you walk towards the building there's a small sign that says the restaurant name. Aside from that you wouldn't know where to go and would be confused. The restaurant itself is nice but it's only for the breakfast cafe. You walk towards a kiosk and place your food order. Unfortunately I learned the hard way that it's better to just order online. It was chaos and confusing as the person onsite couldn't give me a timeline of when my food would be ready, but you're watching orders flying out the doors. In total I waited 45 minutes only to be reminded that I couldn't dine in, but wasn't told how long my order would be. Food was subpar, portion was small and bland. The fried rice was very dry and inedible, it taste like it's a couple of days old. The Tom Kha was decent, not the best I've had but it was good enough to enjoy. The Penang curry was very flavorful and had a good kick, this would be my favorite. Order ahead of time, there's nothing personable about this place. read more

The cocktail menu was phenomenal with $10 signature cocktails that are super unique like the black Thai martini and spicy Soju margarita. Staff was very attentive and gave great recommendations. Unassuming from the outside but cozy and intimate on the inside. The wait staff are all Thai and friendly and efficient. The food here is delicious -- there isn't one thing on the menu that doesn't tantalize the tastebuds. This place is a cute, friendly lil spot that's perfect to come for dinner and catch up with some friends. I found this place on Yelp wanting to try more restaurants in this area and was pleasantly surprised! It's in a lively, vibrant plaza with lots of other restaurants. There is a parking lot in the plaza but it was full when I got there (luckily someone left as I was about to exit the plaza). The restaurant itself was a cute, quiet spot. Plenty of seating inside and out, great/ fast service, and good food. I got the yellow curry not spicy, since I don't feel confident in my spice tolerance, but it was still great and had a lot of flavor! My friend got pad see ew which was good as well. Amazing food and service. Lovely hometown feel. The customer service is amazing and the food is fantastic every time.

Came with coworkers for a team dinner and they were able to easily accommodate a party of 10. The restaurant has a nice interior and is tucked in a plaza. Parking out front or in small underground lot. Service was fast. I got the crab fried rice with fried egg instead of scrambled egg and the runny yolk complemented the slightly sweet and very fragrant rice nicely. Though it's on the pricier end at $18, it is so delicious that I'll be coming back for it. Papaya salad was also really good because of the refreshing sauce that they use. read more

We beat the Friday night crowd by about 10 minutes which meant we found a parking spot only steps away and we were seated immediately. We noticed the beer tower right away - a good idea if you have more than 2 beer drinkers or heck, maybe 2 can tackle the tower, who am I to judge? Except for a forgotten chili/hot sauce refill, service was pretty terrific. Swift, friendly and helpful. In my opinion the portions are smaller than a number of the Thai spots we frequent - this didn't pose a problem though, I kind of enjoyed not having loads of leftovers. The menu isn't as extensive as other spots, but the options are decent and we didn't have any issues filling our bellies. We enjoyed the chicken satay which was tender and delicious with some of the best peanut sauce I've tasted in a while. The veggie egg rolls were served nuclear hot and eaten with the sweet sauce, a dollop of hot sauce and a sprinkling of the cilantro were super tasty. The coconut shrimp were tasty dipped into the sweet sauce though next time we'd likely order the Thai wings - they looked delectable as the table next to us devoured them. We ordered a couple of bowls of Tom Kha with chicken, he ordered level 5, I ordered 2 but I should of ordered 5. Soup was quite tasty, but I sort of missed the hot pot service - I rather like ladles of piping hot soup over and over again. I had the the garlic pepper chicken with steamed broccoli and with a few shakes of soy sauce and some chili sauce, was a yummy choice for me. Our friend had the Pad See Ew which was at first a little different, the texture of the noodles takes some getting used to (we're an al dente crowd), but again with some soy and chili the dish grew on her. The Glass Noodles with shrimp, mushrooms, cilantro was the most underwhelming entree. This one simply wasn't bold enough for my spice loving guy...no amount of ginger or chili redeemed this dish for him. He packed most if his entree for home and is looking forward to making a brothy soup abundant with veggies and spice to make a 2nd meal for himself. I'm not a fan of either flat egg or glass noodles and I prefer much more veggies so these dishes were a miss for me - they didn't taste bad, they were just underwhelming. I went to Jetta when they first opened in El Segundo, and I am very happy to find that they are still one of the better Thai restaurants in the South Bay. Chicken Satay for $10 is a classic Thai appetizer and they do it well here, with nicely marinated skewers and an earthy peanut sauce. I love rice noodles and their pad see ew for $14 was a good rendition without the greasiness that many places serve up on their plates. What I like about this place is that they offer different types of spice levels and thai being the spiciest. I got the Panang beef at their spiciest and I really enjoyed it. I didn't think it was too spicy but that was a personal opinion other people thought it was too spicy they don't give you the option to ask for extra chili on the side. I thought the beef is very flavorful and well seasoned the spice and the flavors of the broth/soup brought everything together. For me this is my favorite dish. I thought the Pad kew mow noodles we're also extremely flavorful and having it along side the panang beef was great. The Shrimp had great flavor and the noodles werent to oily compared to other places overall the plate itself has so much flavor. I would definitely recommend this dish. I thought the Thai tea was pretty good standard Thai tea flavor. I just wish they glasses were bigger haha Now my least favorite things were the appetizers I just felt like the underperformed. I never write a 1-star review on a Thai restaurant. But, this place deserves it. I am a self-proclaimed "Pad Thai" expert in that it's the only dish I ever order in a Thai restaurant. I began by asking the server for a large portion because I had not eaten all day. (I offered to pay extra, as well.) In any respectable restaurant, a server would say "SURE, no problem". But, not at Jetta Thai. She told me "NO, it comes in one size only!" So, I hoped for the best. When it arrived, it was served in a soup bowl. It looked like the portion you would expect on a "Child's Menu". But, I was hungry, so I dug in. I have never been disappointed in a Pad Thai recipe before today. These were not Thai Noodles, which are flat like Fettuccine. These were like Spaghetti noodles AND there was TOFU in it. Who puts Tofu in Pad Thai? Still being hungry, I was going to order another item to-go, but she just approached me and set the final bill on my table! This woman is the worst server I ever experienced! So in summary, we have a server who tells her customers "NO", we have child's portions, we have the wrong noodles and Tofu added, and she didn't care to offer me anything else from the menu, before bringing the bill. There is another place called "Siam Bay Cuisine" right around the corner. They are amazing! I would have dined there, but they don't open until 4pm. Yellow curry (vegan) with veggies and brown rice is excellent. Love the detail that is put into chopping/slicing the veggies. Portions are the perfect size and not over-abundant. The curry had the perfect texture and creaminess compared to some places where the curry is water-like. I was so impressed with the first visit that I returned the very next night. I stuck with the yellow curry, but opted for a side of broccoli (extra charge) instead of rice. The portion was as big as the serving of curry and was steamed perfectly! I was wandering in El Segundo downtown after eating dinner and looking for a dessert place. I saw this Thai restaurant and gave it a try. I ordered three desserts: mango sticky rice, fried banana wraps and coconut ice cream. They came out beautifully garnished and decorated. The taste is mouth watering as well. I have to say their coconut ice cream is a bomb, it's one of the best coconut ice cream I've ever tried. It has some nuts, coconut meat and jelly mixed in the ice cream which created a very deliciously unique taste. The price is cheap, like $9 each dessert plate. During each bite I absolutely loved my glass noodles! The Thai wings were listed as a staff recommendation so I was under the impression that they were going to be one of their best items. To me they were just okay though. It was a bit of a let down but at least I had my glass noodles. The ambiance was very nice, it was cold in there but the server was nice enough to turn the AC off. The service was also pretty good. They did not over do it with checking in nor did they do minimal checking- it was just right. My love for those glass noodles was so great that I went back 4 days later to get them again! This time instead of the Thai wings, I ordered the crispy shrimp wonton to go with them. Again, I was let down. The crispy shrimp were pretty flavorless. They were literally just shrimp wrapped in a wonton. I was not impressed at all. RIP-OFF! I Wasted $55 all together on Tom yum soup, Thai Wings and on their (Pad Thai, Yellow Curry and Jasmine rice combo) which was $30 together. The Portions are catastrophic, i experienced so many never have I ever, ordering from here. The Tom yum was very small but then again it was $7, filled with mushrooms and 3 shrimp. My mom enjoyed it said the broth was very good just wished it was a bigger size. As for everything else it didn't taste anything like Thai we've had before. The Thai wings were a nice size and came with 5 in total, I ate one flat and was done with the rest, it tasted like those Zesty 7up salt lemon lime packets people use to eat back in the day. The Yellow curry was orange going on red looked like it wanted to be a panang or massaman curry instead and out of all the 15+ Thai spots and counting I've eaten at in LA I've never had peanuts in my curry and can do without. It just reminded me of Five Guys and they expect you to eat peanuts with your burger just unnecessary. I requested mild but that doesn't mean sweet, there was no balance between the heat and the sweet, couldn't taste any turmeric or spices just straight up coconut milk broth. Saved the worst for last the Pad Thai was horrendous, I have been craving noodles for days and this was the main dish I was looking forward too. Instead of using Wide rice noodles not Flat rice noodles like Pad See Ew they used thin rice noodles so it reminded me of a pathetic attempt at a Korean dish called Japchae which uses glass noodles. They were stuck together so bad, I couldn't separate them at all, and my fork lifted the entirety of noodles in one scoop. I could've rolled these into a ball and toss it at the back of someone's head and it would've bounced back like a tennis ball. There was zero Umami going on with any of these dishes and this has encouraged me to find a Thai/ Lao market in the city so I can start cooking stuff on my own, because most of these Thai spots are way to Westernized for me. It's 10:43pm at night Super Bowl Sunday and I haven't ate all day, but the food I ordered went straight into the fridge as leftovers. Yep, it's Monday and as I was drinking a latte and eating a boiled egg at SeaTac, I was already contemplating lunch. After the worlds most boring yet protein filled breakfast at the airport lounge, I was ready for some real food. I found Jetta Thai via Yelp of course and am so glad I did! Found them under the "HOT AND NEW" Yelp flag. I wasn't really interested, but soon as I learned they had crispy soft shelled crabs, I was SOLD. I came in early enough to find a few parking spaces still available. (It gets pretty packed during lunch.) There was only one customer when I walked in, so it wasn't an issue finding a table. Party of one, I was seated at the very far corner right below that cute neon sign. I was then immediately handed the menu. After a review of some sort, I will confirm what some fellow Yelpers have pointed out: there are NO lunch specials (on the contrary to some pictures labeled as such by the business. They really need to edit those posts as it is misleading.) Interesting fun facts about how this business started - it's something you can read about while waiting for grub. (The write up came with the menu.) Put in an order of the crabs as well as shrimp wonton soup with a side of egg noodles. I know, I KNOW, I coulda just ordered a shrimp wonton NOODLE soup, but I was afraid that portion may be too big for me to consume given I ordered an app. Soft shelled crabs were served with deep fried (if I'm not mistaken) enoki mushrooms. Made to order hot, the dish came with two (2) soft shelled crabs. They were small, so I felt it fair for the price point. Although under seasoned, the crabs were battered thin and delicious. It had that main essence of what soft shelled crabs are supposed to taste like. I tried it with the sweet and sour sauce but I felt the flavor went off its basic profile, so ate the rest as is. Then came my wonton soup and side of egg noodles. Couldn't wait to taste that broth because that is the very center of any soup. Off the bat, it had a nice depth in flavor. It was a semi-kinda cold day so it sorta hit a spot I didn't even realize needed hitting! The shrimp wontons, although with good texture, was somewhat subpar - it was almost flavorless. The egg noodles?! PLENTY. Good chew on the noodles but like the shrimp wontons, there was a level of blandness to it. (Should I assume they're on the conservative end of the spectrum when it comes to seasoning?) So, I figure, to alleviate all the under seasoning issues, a little trick: I put both bowls together. Added a bit of salt and pepper and BOOM. Delicious! FOOD: 3.75. SERVICE: 3. Average. Nothing out of the ordinary. VALUE: 2.75. Might be a bit pricey for some. (See attached picture of receipt.) PARKING: Street and private lot. Lot will fill up quickly during lunch hours. OVERALL: 3. For now. The place was half full by the time I finished. Many of them talking amongst themselves about how it is their first time trying them out. They are fairly new and like all new restaurants, they're gonna hit a few snags and kinks. Went to check this place out for dinner on a Tuesday night. It's located in the El Segundo area where there a bunch of shops and restraunts in a small walkable area. Plenty of parking around if you don't mind walking a little as their parking loylt is small and pretty full. The place was pretty empty when we got there so we were seated right away. I was craving pad Thai and it did not disappoint. I got extra tofu instead of shrimp but you can sub in other proteins as well. My friend got the fried rice and seemed to enjoy it. He did find a small hair towards the end of the meal which was disappointing hence the 3 stars. Also their portions are on the smaller side but probably priced for smaller portions as well. Probably wouldn't go back unless I was in the area and really craving Thai but worth trying out. Enjoy! read more

We ordered take out from here while staying at a hotel for a weekend in the LA area. It was rated well here on Yelp and on UberEats and boy oh boy did we hit the jackpot. The food was DELICIOUS. Our family (who was visiting from Hong Kong; a city notorious for its vibrant food scene) said it was the best meal they've had while on their US holiday. I was in the other day & mentioned it seemed their phone wasn't working (it had an error message, not a busy tone). And one of the women proceeded to point aggressively at (one) takeout bag & say "phone was busy, we are always BUSY, that's why" hahaha then get a better phone system that can handle more than one call & not throw out an error tone like you didn't pay your bill. I was mentioning it to be nice & make them aware if there was an issue. Between the recently gross quality of food & the poor attitudes of employees, we won't return. I catered from here for a company team lunch and thought it was good so I went for lunch but was disappointed. Taste and flavor is good but the price and portion was not worth it. I paid $15 for a pad kee now that came in a very tiny togo container. Also, apparently beef is not an option which I found very odd. So glad Jetta Thai is back! Was one of our family "go to's" and glad they're now back inside Toast. We got the usual: green curry, tom kha soup and fried rice for the kids. Delicious and super fresh as always! Portions seem a bit smaller than before but food quality is great. We'll certainly be back soon. read more

I tried the Pad See Ew lunch special with tofu and it was very yummy! The sauce was a great balance of salty and sweet and the tofu pieces were big and perfect texture. Definitely add some spicy chili sauce for the extra kick. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is for the price of a somewhat small portion, the veggie spring rolls were okay, and the cucumber salad was literally just a little bit of plain sliced cucumber and onion. But overall it was good and I would definitely try it again. read more
