TLDR: Get to Ayara NOW!! We've been getting food delivered from Ayara for months. We had to kiss a bunch of frogs, but finally found the best Thai in the city! This past weekend was their 22 year anniversary celebration. Fried Chicken night, here we come!! Sadly, we were too late, and they'd run out. (Insert crying emoji, but we'll get earlier reservations next year) Instead, we (over) ordered our favorites so we'd have plenty of leftovers. We've never had an issue with the delivery, hot, tasty, plentiful. But this, THIS, was next level. Even hotter, more flavor, larger portions!! Thai restaurant located in downtown El Segundo. I first want to start off by giving five stars to our waitress Patty. She was so funny and engaging. She is a one woman comedy show. She was so nice but also joked with our table the entire time. There were a lot of fun options to choose from. For appetizers, we got the jerky, salad, wings, and wonton soup. The soup is big enough for the entire table to share. For my meal, I got the cashew chicken, which was delicious. My spouse got the spicy basil beef, which she loved. I hadn't been back to Ayara Thai in a few years, and I had the chance to go with some friends for dinner before a show in the area. I'd only dined outside during the pandemic, and the inside was being renovated back then, too. Happy to see that the renovations are done, and we were seated promptly. I'd had Ayara Thai either dining outdoors or take-out, and while the food is still good, I found the ambiance inside added even more quality to the dishes. In other words, they tasted better when eaten in-house, more fresh and flavorful than I'd ever had. Really enjoyed the khao soi, which was flavorful and had just a hint of spice for an enjoyable experience. The chicken satay was so tender and beautifully-charred, probably one of the best satays I've had. Mango sticky rice in the end was delicious, with the smoothest, ripest mangos I've had in a long time-- they were so smooth, it was almost buttery! The egg rolls were just-okay, though, and I would probably skip these next time. Overall, probably one of the best Thai spots on the Westside. Take out food from here is solid but even better when it's dine in. We had the regular.. Papaya salad, Pad Thai, Pad Dee Yu, fried rice.. The dishes I enjoyed the most is the spicy basil with crispy pork. Yah, like lechon! Tasty! We also had Khao soi which is a curry broth soup over crispy egg noodle that wilders down. Pretty good. Been here many times over some years, I do feel like quality's gone down despite price increases. Food has been very salty and overly saucy. The flavor is good, but too sweet and salty. We got pad thai with chicken - the noodles were overcooked and just drenched in sauce. And barely any chicken pieces. Papaya salad came with shrimp (extra $6) and we only got 3 shrimps. Overly sauced again, there was a pool of dressing. We got basil beef stir fry, again, too much sauce, all pooling at the bottom and totally drenched. I recently visited Ayara Thai for a special birthday celebration for my sister. It was my first time at Ayara Thai and it was an amazing experience. As a party of 10, we were seated in the private back room. It was lovely to have a room to ourselves. It felt very special. The menu was curated by our birthday host and Chef Vanda. The menu was printed on little cards for each guest. It was an absolute feast. While the entire meal was delicious, the "When Tigers Cry" Tomahawk steak and the Spicy Beef Salad were outstanding. What made the visit even more exceptional was the very attentive service from the entire staff including Chef Vanda. You can feel the love in the food and in the service. The first time I had Ayara Thai food was during lunch time, which a friend of mine taught me how to order via the website. I don't believe the restaurant is open to take orders during the day (don't quote me on this) but it is extremely convenient to be able to place the order online with a reliable pick up time. They text you when your order is ready. Bonus points for efficiency! Since we were with the group, the first time, we were able to eat outside on the patio area. I used to order here a ton when I lived in the area. They were by far, the best Thai place on the west side. It's a tiny place in a random plaza, parking is fairly easy, they have both street parking and a lot if you walk a bit further down. We used to always order them lunch special, I personally loved their khao soi and crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli. Their spicy beef salad, tom kha chicken soup and when tigers cry were also really good and highly recommended. Their pad Thai and pad see ew were good but they felt just standard for a Thai restaurant. The only downside it the food takes forever if you order ahead. Like I'm talking 40-60 mins for a to go order and when they give you that estimate, they're not lying. It really does take that long for the food. It's a Thai style salad and with some sticky rice is so good. The Ayara Toast is tasty and super cute too with little elephant cut outs of toast with ground pork and shrimp fried! I got pad Thai with 4 shrimp which at first I was disappointed by the clearly divulged amount but they are nice size for 4. Beautiful day in Westchester, right by LAX, and Ayara was the perfect stop. They do not offer full sit-down service before dinner, but the patio is open and lovely for lunch. I ordered the lunch special, which comes with a small dish, large dish, and a drink. I went with the Pad See Ew, a bit heavier on the oyster sauce, which I did not mind. The wings, the appetizer that came as my smaller dish was super crispy on the outside, but the meat was a little dry and would have had more of a punch in flavor. My partner ordered the Massaman curry with white rice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rich, comforting, exactly what you want from a good curry. For my drink, I had the Thai iced tea. It appears to be made in-house, it comes pre-bottled with their logo and they give you a cup of ice to pour it over. It is on the sweeter side, but once the ice melts and it blends a bit, it balances out nicely. We also ordered the mango sticky rice to go while we sat on the patio, and it was absolutely delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked, the mangoes were ripe and sweet, and the coconut sauce had just the right balance of saltiness and sweetness. Super refreshing and a beautiful way to end the meal. Absolutely would return, especially if heading to or from the airport. I got there too late to be seated The take out window for ordering and interaction is conveniently set up to the right of the entrance. I was really hungry, so I went with the staple this time. I ordered the pad Thai. I thought it was really good and really well-made. It was neatly packaged and I had everything I needed to eat in my car lol. I would love to come back in the near future to try the full experience of sitting at the restaurant to enjoy my food and hospitality.
