*** Michelin Plate *** Located in Westchester by LAX, Ayara Thai is widely considered one of the best Thai restaurants in Los Angeles outside of Thai Town. This past weekend was my first time here and it did not disappoint. We arrived around 12:30pm and were surprised to find out it was takeout only for lunch. They did have outdoor tables, however, which was nice. We ended up sharing the Khao Soi and Shrimp Pad Pong Kari. While both were delicious, I'd give the edge to the Shrimp Pad Pong Kari. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

I hadn't been back to Ayara Thai in a few years, and I had the chance to go with some friends for dinner before a show in the area. I'd only dined outside during the pandemic, and the inside was being renovated back then, too. Happy to see that the renovations are done, and we were seated promptly. I'd had Ayara Thai either dining outdoors or take-out, and while the food is still good, I found the ambiance inside added even more quality to the dishes. In other words, they tasted better when eaten in-house, more fresh and flavorful than I'd ever had. Really enjoyed the khao soi, which was flavorful and had just a hint of spice for an enjoyable experience. The chicken satay was so tender and beautifully-charred, probably one of the best satays I've had. Mango sticky rice in the end was delicious, with the smoothest, ripest mangos I've had in a long time-- they were so smooth, it was almost buttery! The egg rolls were just-okay, though, and I would probably skip these next time. Overall, probably one of the best Thai spots on the Westside. I'm glad I returned to have it again after several years, and to try it inside the restaurant. Excellent flavors all-around!

Tucked behind Sepulveda East and 87th, Araya is located behind all the LAX madness in a cozy walkable "L" shape street corner with a few shops and bookstore. It's a short old town street of Westchester reminiscent of the 50s shops. Ayara is cozy and it's jam packed so it's best to make reservations. We usually get food delivered from Ayara Thai but decided to make it a sit down experience. Ayara is always solid after our experience we need to come in person more often... Especially if it's Patty who was serving our table. She makes all the difference. Funny, energetic, and wants to make sure you have an experience. Take out food from here is solid but even better when it's dine in. We had the regular.. Papaya salad, Pad Thai, Pad Dee Yu, fried rice.. The dishes I enjoyed the most is the spicy basil with crispy pork. Yah, like lechon! Tasty! We also had Khao soi which is a curry broth soup over crispy egg noodle that wilders down. Pretty good. The whole fried branzino was also delicious. Served with vermicelli, herbs and sauces and lettuce to make yourself a Thai fish taco. Super crispy with the head on and eyes staring right at you. I've never had shrimp pad pong kari which is a dish that Patty said we needed to get. I'm glad we did cause them shrimps where big juicy like the cocktail shrimp ones in a curry powder, chili paste, egg, peppers, and the works. Very good dish. For dessert, we had a mango sorbet. Very rich in mango flavor. No skipping on mangos there. Forget In N Out coming from LAX, come here instead if there are tables available.

Drunken noodles were good but tom yum tasted very off and ruined our whole meal. Also, asked for without mushrooms but soup still had these mega mushrooms.

One of my top fav Thai restaurants in LA! And you know there are many but only a handful of good ones and this falls amongst my top 5 in LA! This time I tried their classic papaya salad, spicy basil, and green curry. A must if you love green curry! The papaya salad was fresh and crunchy! And Spicy Basil was solid! It was my first time trying it and it was very tasty :) Service is friendly and fast! The vibe and ambiance is nice with dimmed lights inside but it can get very loud if there are large parties with every table filled. Parking available on the street and nearby lots.

Classic Papaya Salad with added shrimp

Been here many times over some years, I do feel like quality's gone down despite price increases. Food has been very salty and overly saucy. The flavor is good, but too sweet and salty. We got pad thai with chicken - the noodles were overcooked and just drenched in sauce. And barely any chicken pieces. Papaya salad came with shrimp (extra $6) and we only got 3 shrimps. Overly sauced again, there was a pool of dressing. We got basil beef stir fry, again, too much sauce, all pooling at the bottom and totally drenched. It's all tasty at first but becomes too much towards the end.

Hell yes.. I came here after dropping off my cousin at LAX and this did not disappoint AT ALL... It was decently priced and I can understand why so many people come here on their lunch breaks now. Its not the greatest thai food but everything feels portioned out just right and the flavor is there. Its very fair for the price and also very quick. It's not blow your mind amazing but if you're craving thai food and want something quick this spot is the place to go. There's also a lot of out door seating as well or you can just take it to go.

I stand corrected! Read my 3 rating review from 2008 and man was I not a visionary! That review may have been true in 2008 but I've been going there since and getting the same thing and their game is on point! These are my favs: Chicken or Shrimp Panang Curry Combo Thai Fried Rice with fried egg Crab Fried Rice Thai Beef Jerky Drunken Noodles Veggie add the fish sauce it's delish Green Curry with Beef I've tried a bunch of things but these are my favs. Plus the mango sticky rice when in season it's delish! Service is always good and yes they're usually busy so be prepared to wait! The ambience inside can be loud but it's casual and chill. There's seating all the way in the back and outside in front. They kept their COVID license to seat outside. It's pricey but imho it's the best Thai in LA and arguably in California or anywhere except Thailand!

Thai spot close to LAX with a nice array of options. There's outdoor seating available for takeout orders, which you can order on the iPad outside, or you can sit inside but may be subject to the waitlist. Reservations are also available online. It was surprisingly crowded on a random Wednesday evening when my friends and I went; we waited about 20 minutes for our group of 4. We ordered dishes to share family-style. The Ayara toast was cute and came in elephant shapes. The pad see ew was well mixed and tasty, and the chicken khao soi packed some eat. We ordered the cashew nut wok dish with chicken and it does come with rice. To finish, we had a mango sorbet and a mango sticky rice - both had generous portions and I liked both. I did also have a Thai tea, which is automatically made with coconut milk, so it's good for those who are lactose intolerant. Credit cards accepted. It's a family-friendly spot.

My experience at Ayara was wonderful... even with two young children along for the ride! The papaya salad had wonderful flavor and a great kick. For my entree I had the pad see ew with chicken and ate the entire thing. I don't think I've ever done that with Thai food, but it was too delicious to leave anything behind! The ambience and service were wonderful. There was a chill atmosphere and our server couldn't have been nicer. He brought out plastic dishes for the kiddos which was very kind and handled our large group patiently and didn't miss a thing.

Unreal! SO good! Service was great. Food was FRESH and still came out quickly. Will DEFINITELY come back when in town!

    Kai Jaew Omelet with pork

Place was busy on a Friday night- has indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters). It was about a 10 minute wait for a walk in table of two. The food was good but nothing stood out. Staff was super friendly. Prices were fair so I would come back again to enjoy this cute neighborhood spot!

Amazing delicious food. Got the wings for starters- crispy and well seasoned. Tom Kha soup with mushrooms and veggies- a tad sour but the mushrooms were very good. Chicken pad se ew- a great must. Busy restaurant but smooth customer service. Clean compact restaurant where they make it spacious.

The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables.
