First off this place is so overpriced and the quality isn't there. Nearly $20 for a small portion of pad Thai. I get gluten free chicken pad Thai with no chicken. (I find the chicken tastes gross, rubbery and old) I like extra eggs in mine but refuse to cough up the extra $2 for one egg, so I cook a few of my own farm fresh eggs to mix in. I got take out today and I'm really disappointed. It's so dry, lacking flavor, mushy and it tastes old and leftover. I bit into something very crunchy & off putting. I keep finding hard chunks of black stuff everywhere. I have a gluten allergy and they should be cleaning their pans before cooking my dish. I'm pretty sure I was eating grill scrapings. Disgusting. I only got this place because I'm sick and starving. But I think i would rather starve than eat a small portion of dry coagulated leftover pad Thai with mystery inedible black bits FOR $20!!!! More people need to speak up about their ridiculous prices, low quality and their lack of cleanliness. If their food was good I wouldn't complain about the price. But they are clearly price gouging. Thai Taste is a local Thai restaurant. There is a huge parking lot, so you do not have to worry about finding parking. The restaurant is quite spacious and there are plenty of tables. We started with Shrimp in the Blanket - Crispy large shrimp stuffed with pork, crab meat, mushrooms, glass noodles and carrots in wonton skin, served with plum sauce. This was a yummy start. For entrees, we had the Pineapple Fried Rice - Stir fried shrimp, chicken and crabmeat with raisins, green peas, pineapple chunks, tomatoes and a touch of curry powder and Mango Fried Rice -Shrimp and chicken stir fried with mangoes, egg, onions, scallions and tomatoes with a touch of curry powder. The fried rice was so delicious. I think this is the first time I had fried rice with curry powder and it definitely was tasty. We devoured our dishes and there were no grains left on the dishes. We've been coming to this restaurant over several years and absolutely love this restaurant! The food is fantastic. The fresh rolls are the best around, and we've been to several Thai places. Perfectly sized and made. The service is great. Always accommodating and quick. Last, but definitely not the least is the atmosphere at the restaurant. I showed up Sunday night at about 745. I only drove to Massachusetts for a bottle of wine. Yankee liquor was closed. So I went over to Thai taste for a couple of drinks and to buy some food. I ordered shrimp Phad Thai. 3 pieces of shrimp! 3! A pound is about 15-16$ but for some reason 3 pieces of Shrimp and some noodles WHICH WERE DELICIOUS BY THE WAY. Were 20$. My family and I stopped here for a quick last minute dinner, the staff was really nice along with the food. We got Thai iced teas to drink which were very good and sweet. For starters I got the Tom Yum hot and sour soup with chicken in it, it was very tasty and tangy although I wish it was a tad more spicy! Finally I got Mango fried rice for my main, the chicken was tender and the curry spice really added a nice touch. Overall a great dinner, staff were friendly and food was great!! read more

Had the Tom Yum Soup, this flavoring has to come out of a jar, (not restaurant grade). The seafood additions were shrimp, imitation crab, fresh mushrooms and were not bad). But for flavor, not authentic. This broth was too salty with lots of sugar, When asked by the waitress if the soup was good, I told her the broth was way too sweet (let alone salty). The bill for 14.99 for this soup was not acceptable. After much adieu they split the difference, Maybe they can work on the broth in the future, but I won't be back. read more

This restaurant is tucked away in a Plaza and could be easily missed. They offer a great selection of classic Thai foods. One of my go to dishes is always the Thai fried rice, delicious! We also like this place for having a bar and offering beer and wine. Some other restaurants nearby are byob or no alcohol at all. But the trade off is that some of those restaurants have better reviews. We came with a group of six, our waitress was nice and attentive. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time and pretty much everyone enjoyed their dishes (though some noted portion sizes seem to have shrunk). read more

Delicious, fresh food, but skip the scorpion bowl. Not being from the Swansea area I'd have never know this restaurant was there, tucked away in a small strip mall off the main road and found it with a quick internet search for a restaurants near the movie theater. The service was quick, attentive and friendly and they seemed to be pretty busy with take out orders, which is always a good sign.. We started with beef satay which was tender and flavorful served with the usual peanut sauce and a vinegar based cucumber sauce. For entrees we got yellow beef curry and chicken Massaman curry. They were both great! Though, be aware you do have to order your rice separately for an additional charge, which is something I haven't seen in other Thai restaurants. The curries weren't as spicy as I am accustomed to, as they are likely appealing to the American pallet which is good for those intimidated by curry's heat. However, I have a new friend now that I am eating with. This restaurant is now fully open after the pandemic, and the food is as good as I remembered. Both my friend and I loved our dishes. I got green curry, and she got a sweet dish. A note about the curry: If you like mild foods, the curry (either green or red) will strike you as very hot. However, after eating the food for a while, your mouth will get used to the heat and it will become more tolerable. To me, the green curry is the most delicious food on the whole Earth. The only problem with our recent visit is that the restaurant was too chilly; but we both had light jackets with us, so we didn't mind. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

So my GF and I have returned to Thai Taste a number of times since my initial review. The latest occurrence was last night for dinner. Word to the wise: You can't go wrong ordering the Satay as your appetizer. Because you'll receive a decent sized portion of perfectly cooked chicken and beef, barbecued on skewers and served with peanut and cucumber sauces. For my entrée, I chose the Panang Curry with the pork election, though I received chicken instead. The error quickly faded from memory when I first sank my teeth into it. The dish came slathered in a coconut milk concoction with peppers, string beans, snow peas, mushrooms and lemon leaves. I ordered two dishes of white rice just to eke out all the deliciousness. She had the Pad Ki Mow, extra spicy. It arrived as a plate of stir-fried noodles, peppers, string beans, bamboo shoots, onion and basil leaves. She made the pork election and was thrilled with the taste. I'm sure she'll be eating her leftovers for lunch with an ear to ear smile of satisfaction on her face. I have been visiting the Swansea Mall my whole life and had noticed this place on the side of the road. I always though it was just some run on the mill take out place, I was very very wrong. I recently mentioned to someone that I could not find any good Pad Thai in the area and was told that this is the go to place in the area. I lived in Boston for a few years and had found some ok Thai food, but this blew them all out of the water. The dinning area is very simple and needs a bit of work, it had a strange smell to it that wasn't from the food but I didn't feel like it was unclean and it felt safe eating. It really was the best Pad Thai I had ever had, it had little pieces of fried tofu and was just perfect. The beef and noodles were also very good. It is reasonably priced with a good quantity. I love the food here! Veggies always taste fresh and genuinely so well cooked. The prices have gone up, though that is much like every other restaurant during/following covid. I have never regretted a meal choice here. I'm vegan so my options are usually limited but there is a good selection of plant based options.
