I am so excited to have found delicious Thai food so close to my work!! I like a lot of ethnic foods, so I am thrilled that this is walking distance from my office. Because I was trying out a new place, I stuck with boring (but DELICIOUS) Shrimp Pad Thai. I was really excited that the noodles and shrimp weren't overcooked. Nothing worse than overcooked mushy rice noodles and overcooked rubbery shrimp (okay, except for maybe undercooked shrimp...but you know what I mean). Seasoning was great, I asked for it to be spicy and it was just right. I can't wait to go back there again! This may be my new payday lunch spot. :) read more

I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. It's quite good! I know Thai food very well, and have been to Thailand. When I told my waiter that, his eyes lit up and he brought over the caddy of hot condiments. Turns out I didn't need them, because when I ordered my food spicy, it was actually spicy. And very well seasoned! The green papaya salad was delicious, as was the chicken pad prik king. The menu may be a bit standard, but it's all well-prepared. I would totally return here! read more

Found this cool little byob on a family trip during the holidays. While all other restaurants were as well crowded being a holiday weekend, this one seemed a bit less crowded. Upon being seated we were offered glasses for our wine (which we brought awesome) and a wine bucket to keep it cool. After a full day of shopping we were indeed starving, so my husband and I ordered the veggie spring fools and the mermaid shrimp, both were perfectly cooked and served with complimentary dipping sauces. For dinner we ordered pad thai and basil tofu. The pad thai was great said the hubby, but the tofu was just soso. Great friendly service, definitely will be stopping back! read more

I take-out monthly from Thai Thai, as it is only feet from my doorstep, and I love thai food. Is it the best thai I have ever had? no. Best thai in the valley? yes. Best overall value? no. Thai Thai is the nicest thai restaurant I have ever vistied. It's classy with cloth tablecloths and napkins, clean, spacious, and very professional. I don't mind crowded, noisy, and very casual, if the food is good. My biggest gripe since opening is that thai thai has had skimpy portions. They have become more generous, but sometimes dissapoint. 3 small shrimp and a few slivers of chicken in a recent pad thai, is a good example of this. The prices are unusually high for thai food, but being a specialty item with limited selection in the area, they can get it, as they do at my #1 thai place, Saian, in the poconos. Go metro, like nyc or philly chinatown, and thai food will be priced more in the neighborhood of chinese food, both often heavy with rice/noodle. BYOB is nice, but I am not crazy about the 5$ a bottle corkage fee, especially when charged to a regular who management knows by first name. Encourage guests to visit your restaurant because they can byob, don't penalize them for doing so. As I said, this is my #1 takeout spot, not byob. There is limited parking in the area, but as a local, that is not usually an issue for me. The pro's include the charming downtown location, where you can enjoy some shopping, people watching, or drinks and coffee at other nearby bar's and cafe's, as well as the consistant menu and varied selection. I ordered Tom Yum Shrimp and Papaya Salad. Tom Yum was pretty good but the papaya salad was salty. Wasn't offered the choice to go any spicier on the Papaya salad. Also, they put grilled shrimp on the salad, which I have never seen before at any of the other Thai restaurants I have been to. Nevertheless, the service was excellent and the place was very tidy and clean. Not sure if I will come back here since I didn't enjoy the Papaya salad. Still a pretty good find. read more

Had dinner with friends one Friday night. Ordered a pad thai which was pretty good. I ordered it medium spicy which had a good kick to it. To finish our meal, we ordered the lychee sorbet which was very tasty (I found out it's supplied by a local ice cream shop (who is also good...my review of that shop to follow)). Finally, good Thai in the Valley. It's more of a white tablecloth affair then my sought-after down-and-dirty Thai shack, but I'm very, very pleased. Located in historic downtown Bethlehem, Thai Thai II has a nice upscale feel to it with quality food and good table service. It's BYOB, so bring your own Singha to cool down after your spicy dish. The food here was excellent. I had the drunken noodles, which frankly, will be hard not to order in the future. The menu runs the gamut of Thai staples, but please, do venture off from the Pad Thai. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Meals here are a bit pricier than you'd expect for Asian food in the Valley, but that's because this is a quality joint and not a fast food place. That said, I found the appetizer portions a bit small, but adequate for two. I'll skip that next time and focus on my entree. Two entrees, one appetizer, $43 with tip. (I was tempted by the dumplings, what can I say?) This place was hopping on a Friday - reservations are recommended, or you'll wait in the small atrium for your table with the other saps (like me) who didn't call ahead. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The floor plan is a bit odd - but this place is shoehorned into an old building. Nice views from the back room, though. Last comment...there are no chopsticks, so don't ask. It's not a Thai thing. I've eaten a lot of Thai food both in the US and in Thailand. I think Thai Thai II is good based on my single visit but am still speculative and will need another visit before I can rank it a 4 or a 5. The management was very accomodating and when I mentioned how much I like traditional Pad Gra Pow the way they make it in Thailand, he happily changed it from the slices of meat method they use for US customers to the more traditional minced meat method. What is the downfall that gets it 3 stars? My Pad Gra Pow was in a lake of oil. I mean it was enough oil that it could slosh from side-to-side on my plate. The taste was wonderful in terms of the seasonings, but it was far to oily for my tastes. I will go and try another dish (likely drunken noodles...one of my favorites everywhere). If it is a good experience I will upgrade my review assuming that the error on the Pad Gra Pow was due to me ordering something non-standard from the menu. read more

OK, so Thai isn't quite my thing, but that does not mean that I am not open to new experiences. Whenever I think of Thai food, two of the last words that come to mind are Classy and Chic, but that far and away the atmosphere of this restaurant. While you don't have to don a suit and tie, I highly recommend that you don't go in dressed like a scrub. The walls are a very clean, crisp, blue and white, with minimal art or decoration. The wait staff was prompt and cordial, and the food was very well done. Despite being a touch on the picky side about certain foods, namely asian noodles, I really enjoyed their Drunken Noodle dish. It was the same with their Coconut Milk. As I said earlier, I'm not that experienced with Thai food, nor is it quite my thing, but I really enjoyed this restaurant. 5 STARS FOR THE FOOD!! I've been here many times because it's so good. But everything else about this restaurant leaves much to be desired. The way they organize their waitstaff could be improved. Right now, one person is in charge of passing out the menus, another is in charge of taking orders, another is in charge of serving everything. They don't communicate (I don't blame them, it's a big restaurant) and that just makes the wait for everything agonizingly long; they forget some things and overlook others. Last time I went, two guys came in and sat at their table for 10 minutes before they got water and menus, and they had to ask to get them. My bf and I were also first served calamari for our app--but we ordered the beef satay. If they assigned a few tables to each person it would be much more organized because each person would be able to become familiar with each table's needs. (I hope they read this and take it into consideration. Because their restaurant would be the best if they reorganized!) Anyway. The food here is sooo good. The beef satay app is awesome--tender beef skewers with 2 tasty dipping sauces. The drunken noodles is the best I've ever had. And the cashew chicken (they call it pad cashew nut) is also very good. I get it without the pineapple, and ask for some heat. But sometimes they forget the heat... The thai iced tea is also really good. Ultimately, I think the food is worth the trouble of going here. As I now work downtown, this is a place that I've ordered food for dinner/lunches. It's very pricey for what you get... but that said, it still tastes really good. Service is spotty. Sometimes it's pretty good, and other times it's not so good. But I wouldn't say it's bad. My favorite items are: 1. Hoy Jor appetizers... they're like super crispy crab egg rolls. Delicious and light. 2. Fish Cakes (Tod Mun Pla)... not for everyone. I really like them here. If you like fish cakes in general, you'll probably enjoy these. 3. Mussamun curry 4. The eggplant dish with basil and chilis... can't remember what it's called. Pad Prik? 5. The Pad See Ew. 6. Tom Ka soup 7. Mangoes and sticky rice for dessert. YUM. Any of those items should make a person who's craving Thai food happy. I'm just not used to the cost of Thai food being so expensive. In CA, it's on a par with Chinese food for pricing. So we don't come here TOO often. Usually it's to get lunch & split it between another coworker. If you're paying half of the cost of an entree, it's totally worth it! This place had one of the best thai ice teas that I've ever tried. The location is great - it's always wonderful to enjoy a night out on the sidewalk along Main St. The service was very attentive and friendly, and their curry dishes had great flavor. I want to go back SOOOOOOOO bad, it left a wonderful taste in my mouth, still I want to go back. Authentic Thai food is my favorite, because, well I'm Thai. So I love it. A friend of mine lives in the area so he's been here before so he knew it was a good place. Most people say that but I'm always hesitant, he was spot on. They had my favorite favorite favorite Som Tom aka papaya salad!!! It was DELICIOUS. It tasted exactly like it had when I was in Thailand a few years ago. He also loved it. We ate that for our appetizer and I should have ordered it again as my entree because I love it so much. Pad See Ew for entree, what's new? I'm so predictable. Again, wonderful. The waitresses were super sweet. We wanted to sit outside because it was gorgeous but all of the tables were full. They moved a table outside for us. YAY! It's hard to find a good Thai place and this place is delicious! The best part they use fresh jasmine rice in their dishes which makes everything taste better. Starting with their drinks their Thai ice tea is very good but it was a little too sweet for my liking, ended up giving it to my mom. Their appetizer of calamari was good but nothing special, wouldn't order it again. Their soup with coconut milk( don't remember the name) but oh my word was it good, it was the prefect combo sweet and spicy! For the entrees we got chicken and pork pad Thai which were to die for good, not greasy and full of flavor! I also had the seafood fried rice, it was good but I feel like it should of had to spice. Decent, at best, Thai grub in a cute part of this college town. Surprisingly on the moderate side, the prices were up there for this part of the woods. We had clams with basil chili sauce. Just ok with barely a whisper of basil flavor. It was a special and not on the regular menu. Not so special. Tofu with vegetables and black beans. Pretty good. Service was good, our waitress was quite pleasant, even with a slight communicatoin barrier (not so good with the Engrish)...not that it ever bothered me. Finally some great thai food in the valley! I have been here for dinner and lunch. They have a great menu with a wide selection, so many things looked good I had a hard time deciding. I love anything with basil and chicken so that is how I decided. Definitely make a reservation for dinner, we waited 45 minutes on a Friday night. At lunch they have a special menu. The prices are about $10 a plate, a little pricy for lunch but well worth it. I had the Drunken noodles at lunch, they are my husband's favorite. My favorite part is that they ask you how spicy!! Overall I'm ok impressed with this place in Bethlehem. I came here for lunch on a weekday once, and lunch on a weekend. On a weekday, as soon as you sit down, they serve you a small cup of soup with cabbage, mini tofu cubes, scallion and garlic that comes with your lunch. Noticed though when I came back on a weekend, they had a slightly different menus (with the same food) where the prices were $2 - $3 more expensive - even though portions were the same. They are a typical Thai restaurant that falls more on the classy side. You got your variety of soups, salads and main courses - with your choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp. Vegetarian/ tofu options are also available. The coolest thing about this place was you can pick your level of spiciness with your dish - little spicy, mild or very spicy - which I thought was very cool. I asked for extra spicy sauce and they came with a tub of 4 different flavors of spice - all I've never had before so I enjoyed that. One thing I saw that was not your typical Thai restaurant was the fact that they had Spaghetti Kee Mao and Macaroni Kee Mao on the menu. Supposedly they were described as Spaghetti and Macaroni stir-fry. Didn't try but interested to see what it is. This is a quiet nice restaurant to go to. Not your quick to go Thai place. Decor is cute. If you're not from the area and aren't familiar with it, be warned - this place, like apparently others in the area, are BYOB. I was going to sit down for a meal with a nice glass of wine but instead changed my order to take-out and headed back to the hotel. Also, air conditioning did not seem to be working that evening... I came here while in town for an interview and it also happened to be one of the MusicFest days, so the street outside was shut down for cars and full of rowdy people listening to music - which actually was quite a fun ambience. They left the door open and everyone could listen in. The food: delicious! I asked for spicy and to my surprise, I got it (I almost never do...). And it wasn't so spicy that it wasn't flavorful. I got the Drunken Noodles with shrimp - there was plenty of shrimp, it was cooked well, and tasted great. I polished it off. read more

Mmmm Thai Thai. We were in "downtown Bethlehem" and didn't know where to eat. I pulled out my trusty iPhone & YELPED! It didn't disappoint. Yelp reviewers were right on target. The food was delicious & authentic Thai. Just the right spice. We tried their red curry & pad thai. Both were prepared fresh & served steaming hot. The portions were generous (enough for lunch the next day). Service was great & the atmosphere was very nice. Next time we are in Bethlehem we'll definitely visit again. Citizens of the Lehigh Valley have a surprising number of options with respect to access to quality Thai food. Some of these options are authentic where as some are not. Thai Thai II is more than likely the best possible option for authentic, flavorful, and affordable Thai in the Lehigh Valley Area. Located on Main St in Bethlehem, Thai Thai II is a neatly decorated and inviting space marked by the use of stark white's and blue's. Thai Thai is filled with an often overly helpful staff who are continually flying around making sure that all of the guests have the best possible experience while inside the establishment. Having dinned at Thai Thai a number of times I can honestly say that I have always had superior service. Having never been to Thailand I do not have experience with truly authentic Thai. However, I have enjoyed Thai in both Philadelphia and New York but am in no way an expert. The food at Thai Thai has always met or exceeded my personal expectations. First, it is important to note that the menu at Thai Thai is extensive. It features a wide array of divergent curries, noodles, and rice dishes. This is an establishment that individuals with many different dietary needs will be comfortable visiting. There is a wide array of divergent protein options and the preparation process ranges from vey spicy to more mild. Personally, some highlights from the menu range from the spring rolls, green curry, panang curry, seafood fried rice, curried salmon, and the drunken noodles. In my experience each of these dishes have been represented by quality ingredients, nice portions, and well developed flavors. My biggest struggle at Thai Thai is diverting from the items that I typically order in an effort to try something new. This is a good problem to have, and I would suggest Thai Thai to anyone. On a lighter note, Thai Thai should be on a short list of the greatest BYOB's in the Lehigh Valley. read more

I finally made it here after hearing great things for quite some time and I wasn't disappointed. The layout is a little odd, but you can't get any more delicious or authentic than this in the area. The vegetarian curry is about $15. I had that and a small bowl of soup and didn't feel like I over ate (I'd actually expected to have leftovers, but didn't). I live in the area and enjoy thai food immensely. I have been to most of them in the Lehigh valley. At a lot of thai places the food quality is similar, so the atmosphere and service is what really sets Thai Thai 2 apart. I have approached this very popular place with 5-6 people on a friday night and they made sure we were seated as quickly as possible for a place that size. BYOB so bring a sixpack, a bottle of wine or a flask, perfect concept. If you want to get seated on a weekend night they take reservations and follow them on the time expected consistently. The food is constantly delicious, I have converted thai haters to the cuisine on multiple accounts through thai thai 2's diverse menu. This is easily my favorite restaurant in the area, and my favorite dish is the chicken Pad Thai, so delicious! It's also not spicy at all, like some other Pad Thai dishes are (and I like those too, I'm just a wimp when it comes to spicy food). The pineapple fried rice is also excellent. Portions are very large and reheat well so it also makes for a tasty lunch the next day too! I also love the spring rolls and the curry puffs (and the sauces they come with really make them great), and the coconut rice- which is so sweet and wonderful it's like candy. I finally decided to try Thai Thai. I've had reservations about eating here in the past mostly from their $5.00 BYO corkage fee-I refuse to patronize a business that charges for BYO. If an establishment wants to make money on liquor, then get a liquor license. So, I bit the bullet and dove in to try it. We went on a night that wasn't terribly busy. Service was prompt and we were given adequate time to review the menu and make our selections. What impressed me most was the fact that the waiter knew exactly when we were ready to order. We tried the spring rolls which had such an incredible sauce that I would have just ordered the sauce as a cocktail. My partner ordered a chicken dish that had another incredibly tasting sauce and I ordered a shrimp dish. At first glance the portions looked small, but hey were, in fact, perfectly portioned and incredibly tasty! Overall, a clean, friendly and nice Thai restaurant. It must have been someone's birthday because out of nowhere the tranquil Asian sounds were permeated by a BLARING "Happy Birthday" over the loudspeakers. "Happy Birthday" sung by not-very-well-English-speaking artists. Did I say it was LOUD? The tenth level of hell would have been able to hear it. It was odd and creepy. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Spring rolls to go. Most of the reviews said these were both great dishes here. Parking was the first challenge. Street parking only and there wasn't any available for blocks. Guy at the front door said you could park illegally in front of the restaurant for pickup. Got the order home and tried it. After two bites( I dug to the bottom for the second bite), I threw it all away. Pad Thai was flavorless and it was pink. It had egg, chicken (overcooked) and sprouts served with a wedge of lemon. No flavor though. Reminded me of McDonalds food. Spring rolls were greasy and flavorless. Sauce was corn syrup tasting with no other distinguishing flavors. What a disappointment! read more
