One major issue with the roll that would prevent me from ordering it again. 1. It was all iceberg lettuce, with two pieces of baby shrimp and no basil. They need to reevaluate the balance of ingredients in the roll. Definitely not worth a repeat order. No issues with the peanut sauce. Lunch: Pad woo sen with shrimp - Nice portion size with good amount of vegetables. Vegetable green curry - Store bought packaged fried tofu. This restaurant is located near a large Asian market and I would expect them to be able to substitute steamed tofu. Also, the baby corn and mushrooms were canned and not fresh. Tried this place out for take-out tonight for the first time. The location is fine, seemed clean, bright and it wasn't too loud. My food was ready faster than I thought it would be and my order was accurate. Staff was friendly. We got chicken mussaman curry, tofu pad see ew, and spring rolls. The curry was good although a little on the bland side (the flavor combo was good, just not enough flavor) and the pad see ew was delicious (although not as spicy as I would have thought for medium spicy as described by their menu). Spring rolls were solid, although I'm partial to Tom Yum Thai's spring rolls. Glad I tried it out for a change of pace, but I'll probably only swing by when it's out of convenience. A good choice for Thai in the area if its convenient for you. read more

Yes, yes, yes! I frequented the comic book shop next door and finally decided to stop in. So glad I did! Great flavors in all of the dishes. Nothing is over oiled or too salty. Thai Villa used to be my go to place but it was 30 mins away from me. I've tried almost all the Thai places near me and none of them were good enough for me to be a regular. One day i decided to drive down to Thai Villa and try their drunken noodle!! OMG!! Flavor explosion in my mouth. So rich in flavor. Great tom yum and papaya salad too. Umm!! I have been fortunate enough in my life to travel the world, during which time I have had opportunities to sample a wide variety of good and not so good food. I spent more than a little time traveling around Thailand enjoying the culture and cuisine on top of the fact my ex-sister in law (who cooked Thai all the time) was born and raised in Thailand so I think that I have a fairly good frame of reference when I say that Thai Villa is OUTSTANDING and a MUST TRY!! The food was as authentic as you can get with ingredients purchased here in the USA. The Som Tom (green papaya salad) was hot enough to give it a kick but mild enough to enjoy. The red coconut curry was (and I hate to say, better than mine) the perfect blend of red curry and coconut milk. I would and will go back in a heartbeat. read more

This restaurant is located in Asian district. Easy to access and lots of parking. I got my usual green curry, papaya salad and Thai tea. Thai tea is made in the restaurant what is a big plus. I stop in every few years when friends want to go. Service is friendly, they keep the shop updated and clean, but the food isn't the best. It's not bad - I've just had better. The Pad Thai noodles are a bit over cooked, the vegetables are a little over cooked and soft, and the flavors lack balance, particularly on the 'heat' side. The fresh rolls are mostly lettuce so they come off as rolled up salads instead of a medley of textures and subtle flavors. The dipping sauce is really good, though! Their lunch prices are reasonable for what you get, and it's convenient to shopping and other things to do, but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

I've had several dishes here in my visits to Cary and they've always been great decisions. I've been known to be a bit unreasonably picky when it comes to Thai food having spent a number of years in Thailand for work. Although not fully authentic the dishes are crafted to appeal to the western pallet while still staying true to cultural flavors. A must visit if you're lucky enough to be in the area. Well, I can only assume one thing based on the other review of Thai Villa. Either I went on a very bad night, I happened to pick thw two items they do really bad, or the good reviews are old and the food quality has dropped off. We ordered five things, of the five items we ordered one was pretty good, two were marginal, one sucked, and the other item was so bad we ended up not paying for it. The Tom Ka soup was alright. My only issue was it consisted of a so so broth with a handful of cooked chicken tossed in. I am accustomed to Tom Ka having more in it, like cilantro, mushrooms, lemon grass, etc. The spring rolls were well prepared but I found the horse radish/wasabi flavor a bit off-putting. The Thai Samosa weren't too bad but they had an uncooked flour taste to it that was off-putting. The Red Curry was borderline uneatable. It consisted of a copious amount of watery broth with a can of LaChoy bamboo shoots and some cooked beef. I ordered the dish Thai hot and it was far from it. The broth just did not have very much taste at all. The Spicy Eggplant was absolutely uneatable. Wow was it terrible. Again it was a watery poorly spice glob. To the owners credit they did take that one off the bill. Atmosphere 4 - It is a nice small well-appointed restaurant. The decor is not going to get a Michelin star but for what it is it is nice. Service 4 - I had no complaints about the service. It was friendly and attentive. I was pleased that they took the Spicy Egg Plant that did have two bites taken out of it off the bill with very little push back. Cost/Value 2 - Given the poor quality of the food I felt the prices were a bit high. Food 1 - Easily the worst Red Curry Beef and Spicy Egg Plant I have every eaten in North Carolina. The Tom Ka soup was certainly In my to five worst I have ever had, including the can of Tom Ka I bought at the Asian Grocery one time. I hope for their sake I just happened along on a bad night. My concern is that the things I found wrong with the food reek of the kind of corner cutting and food stretching done at a place that is having financial troubles. read more

The food was quite good, though I can't remember the name of my dish, it was one of the specials. I would say that when they ask you how spicy you like your food, they are using the Thai scale not the white guy scale: 3/4 is plenty hot! read more

I was looking at the other reviews for this restaurant. I decided to go there because I was in town on business from Seattle. I frequent a lot of Thai restaurants in Seattle and pretty much all over the country and they're generally pretty good. I ordered the Chicken Panang and I have to say that it was probably some of the best Chicken Panang I have ever eaten. I don't know whether it was just the sauce or the preparation. The sauce had some depth and crunchiness to it which led me to believe that maybe there was some ground peanuts or something else that made it so delicious. Anyway, it was out of this world. I also had the Thai style chicken wings. They were also incredibly delicious. I am writing this a few hours after I ate there this evening. The other reason I shall be returning is that I am so used to Seattle prices. For the same dishes that I had here, I would have paid at least 30% more in Seattle. I forgot how cheap it is in other parts of the country! If they are open tomorrow for lunch, I will go back for a second round. This Thai food is very Americanized and not authentic which is a shame since Grand Asia market is across the parking lot from them with all the ingredients they could possibly need. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is consistently good, the service is always friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is quiet and clean. The prices are reasonable and the portions are usually enough for 2 meals. I'm probably guilty of going here at least once every two weeks. The only bad thing - they're closed Mondays. read more
