We went straight for the pad thai and pad see ew and also got a chicken entree (chicken kapow) just to try. We got our food to go and it was still steaming hot by the time we were home. This is my go-to Thai spot! I've been coming here since college and the food has always been consistent. I don't like when my noodles come out dry but that's never an issue here. I like to order the Chicken Pad Thai, Shrimp Thai Villa Noodles, and Beef Penang Curry. I usually stick to an average spice level. I've tried both the third level and the Thai spice and neither was too spicy. The food comes out quickly and the staff are friendly. Stopped by in this hideaway Thai restaurant called Thai Villa here in Raleigh, NC. The place is clean, organized and nice decorative interior. Appetizers, the satay (grilled chicken skewers) tender but warm and the Hoi Obb, a fragrant steamed mussels with aromatic herbs. The broth is tasty and the meat was perfectly steamed. We ordered of course the Pad Thai and it was delicious and plentiful. My Hoi Pik Pow ( sweet steamed mussels with chili paste, basil, and sausy green bell peppers was on point. Great little restaurant tucked away in an unassuming spot. It looks a little tired inside, but it's clean, the staff are kind and attentive, and our food was hot and tasty. Tried this place at a friend's suggestion and was not disappointed! Don't let the seemingly humble parking lot and inside decor fool you: this place has great Thai food! Let me start off by saying, I LOVE this restaurant: the food, the ambience, and the service is incredible!! I do recommend coming as early as possible, and arriving at least 15 minutes before close. They have a period of closing between 2pm-5pm, understandable. If you are pushing the limits on time, order to-go or online. Thai Villa is our favorite Thai spot in the Triangle. We found it during Covid when it was takeout only and now 4+ years later and we go back atleast once a month. Can't say enough good things, and every/any dish we've gotten has been fantastic. Good portions, incredible flavor and always hot and fresh. Tofu Pad Thai is great. For starters we had the chicken satay and spring rolls. The chicken satay was yummy. It came with a nice peanut sauce and a little cup of cucumber and red onions in a sweet and vinegar marinade. Also got the spring rolls. Sooooo good. (Sorry didn't take pictures... was super hungry and forgot lol ) For mains we got the Beef Pad Thai and the Soft Shelled Crab in a chili garlic sauce. The pad Thai was the best we've had around town. So full of flavor. Beef cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back for this dish alone! The soft shelled crab was very good as well. it had a hint of a frozen seafood flavor but it was easy to overlook. Fresh would have made it way better. All good though! By far, the BEST Thai food I've ever eaten in the 3 years I've lived in NC. I live in Wake Forest and I haven't had the best Thai food experiences (too bland, too sour, not sour enough, too spicy, not spicy enough, portions too small... you get it) so I had low expectations when I decided to try this place out after a shopping trip at Grand Asia Market, which happens to share the same parking lot with Thai Villa. Ample parking, btw! I visited on a Wednesday afternoon and the restaurant was fairly busy. My friendly server explained to me that you could order certain dishes in both lunch and dinner sizes. I proceeded to order a Thai iced tea (amazing!), the chicken satay (so yummy, wish there was more of it), the shrimp pad Thai without bean sprouts in the dinner size (huge portion and was the star of my meal), and the spicy basil fried rice with chicken (no bell peppers) in the lunch size portion, both medium spice level. Everything came as ordered. The food arrived fairly quickly with the drink and chicken satay arriving first. The service was very attentive and courteous, despite the many patrons coming in for takeout orders and I spent around $47 for my entire meal. I had plenty of leftovers to bring home and my husband later declared the same as me, "that was the best Thai food we've had since we moved here (from NJ)!" My only regret is that we didn't try this place sooner. We always saw it from the highway when we were looking at homes in Apex and Cary, but it never occurred to us then to give it a shot. Good Thai food at a fair price. They give you lots of food, usually enough for leftovers the next day. The flavors are actually rich, not the thin, bland taste you usually get at places like this. When you order takeout online, they give you these metal tins that work great for reheating in the toaster oven. Dining in is always a good experience too, you never have to wait long for your food, and it's a comfortable spot to sit and eat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to make sure we didn't include peanuts in some dishes for allergy reasons. We are regulars here, love their food and have never have a quality issue. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed today after placing a Togo order. I love the chicken Tom Ka soup and usually order two orders as a main dish since they only serve it in a small container. Usually the soup is filled to the line but tonight I received one filled halfway and the other was mostly full but the majority of the soup was broth. After a Long wait at the dmv I decided to try this Thai place. Plenty of parking right in front of the door. It was 30 minutes before closing so I was told before I sat down the kitchen would be closed soon. Felt very rushed. Water was brought without me asking and no other drink was offered. The menu is large and varied but I decided to go with chicken pad Thai. She did ask about the level of spice which I appreciated. It came out quickly and was in a bowl like plate. Some of it was hot but some of it was not. It did taste good and there was a decent amount of chicken and there big pieces of tofu. We went at lunch around 12 and there were already a good number of people inside. An employee came to our table fairly quickly to greet us and take drink orders. Sigh...I really wanted to LOVE this place. I have been peeping this place for a while. I pass it all the time and today I decided I would give it a try. I read the reviews and it seems like hit or miss. Today, I must have gotten the "miss" day. I called my order in and was instructed that it would be about 15mins. However, to come right in when I got to the restaurant. Cool. The guy was very kind and friendly over the phone and in person. As others have stated, it's a little hole in the wall type of place. Simple decoration and well that's all. I did have some areas of concern when it came to how clean some of it was - this came from the smell coming from the restrooms. I am not sure if there was a sewer problem or not. But you could smell it in the dining room. At first, it's not noticeable. It wasn't until I sat down to wait for my food that the smell started to creep up on me - like a smooth criminal. You can tell they were trying to mask it with spray, like Febreeze, but no - it wasn't equipped to handle such odor! That should have been my queue to cancel the order and leave. However, I didn't and well - here we are. I ordered: Spring Rolls with sweet chili sauce Fresh Basil Rolls with peanut sauce Total: $10 The spring rolls were fried fresh - but nothing to write home about. The menu states - "our famous veggie spring rolls..." I promise you these are not made in house - more like the one's you get from the store and fry up. Honestly, they are okay - but nothing to brag about. The biggest disappointment was the basil rolls. Guys... Ladies... This is false advertisement - it's a lettuce roll with a little extra. That's all. I couldn't taste basil in mine. The wrap was extremely "gummy". They were so packed with LETTUCE they were busting at the seam - literally. I went to pick up the roll and it came apart. I eventually took them out of the rice wrapper and ate it like a normal salad. Oh, the peanut sauce has a little spice to it. Nothing bad, but if you aren't looking for that it will throw you off. Found a diamond in the rough I've driven by this place for years and we decided to go in today and try it. Yeah it did not disappoint. We started out with an appetizer of Pak Tod which was tempura fried vegetables with sweet sauce. This was excellent, very light, and not greasy at all. I had the signature dish, Villa beef so good. This was at least my second trip so finding the location was no problem. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai mild. Absolutely awesome. Just enough bite to clear the sinuses and tingle the lips. So pleasant and tasty. The portion was huge. I was unable to make a happy plate. Loaded with shrimp also. Got takeout from this location. Got the green curry with shrimp and the pad see ew with beef. The noodles were definitely better than the curry which had a bit of an aftertaste that I usually don't notice with other Thai curries. I would have given this 4 stars if it wasn't for the pricing. Maybe I'm crazy, but over $15 for pretty much every entree for Thai food in North Carolina seems really high to me! We are traveling from Indiana and decided to give Thai Villa try after reading the yelp reviews. We are glad we did! Our dinner was delicious! I had the pineapple fried rice (they were very accommodating with adding extra tomatoes, pineapple, and raisins while eliminating the shrimp and squid). My husband had the basil fried rice. We both had sweet tea. Both of our dinners were very fresh and the flavors were delightful. I wanted to keep eating well after I was full! The sweet tea was also very good and refreshing. Incredible! Very authentic! As a world traveler and frequent visitor/business owner that has been to Thailand over the past thirty years this restaurant is perfect in every way. The sauces, noodles and curries are all prepared exactly the way you would find in Thailand. The spicy levels are very easy to identify with- usually I ask for Spicy or level 5 or Thai Spicy and today we went with Spicy (one step below Thai Spicy). I think Thai Villa can easily be a hit or miss, depending on what you order. I first came here a few years ago and didn't enjoy it at all, so I didn't go back. But this time, I ordered the Thai Villa noodles, which are basically Drunken Noodles/ Pad Kee Mao and it was delicious!
