Every time I go there, the food truck is closed even though their website says it's open. My last attempt was this last friday for dinner. Their website said they were open 4:00pm-7:30pm. Sudden Thai papaya salad craving lead me to place an order online to this never had before hidden food trailer. To say the least, I was thinking, "oooh, food trailer! Food has to be good!" And when I try new places, I tend to order authentic menu items and go from there hopefully on my next visit. Unfortunately, I got back to my office, and regrettably will not return to Thai Village House. Ordered the Thai papaya salad going on photos that are obviously from the owner and being on the receiving end, it is not what you receive (see photo). And for the price, is a definite, NEVER AGAIN. $12.95 for a small portion plus I added extra vegetables for $1.00 and I couldn't seem to place where the extra veggies were placed because it definitely was not in the to-go container. I also requested, as "special instructions" for "extra sour and extra sweet" and I tell you, not even the base flavors were there which should normally consist of: fish sauce, lime, sugar, tamarind sauce all of which were not present. Being Thai myself, I am dissatisfied. Not to mention the Thai tea for $5.00 was mostly cream flavored rather than Thai flavored. To the owner: I'm hoping you truly do go to a Thai restaurant and order papaya salad so you can at least attempt to have the base flavors in future orders. Great food and it gets a five because it's a food truck with cool outdoor area. Pot stickers are amazing and drunken noodles are great. If it was a restaurant it would be around a four because of odd hours....that being said the portions are great and food is great. Stop by and have the drunken noodles. So happy to have a great Thai place in Penryn! We were pleasantly surprised to have such tasty food coming from a small food truck. We live about 10 minutes away. We put our order in online, drove to get it, and it was ready when we arrived. It's so easy to get on and off the freeway to reach this place. We ordered the drunken noodles, egg rolls and coconut curry soup which came with rice. Everything was hot and tasty. The owners are very pleasant too. Nice seating area, although we took our order to go. They have live bands that play here on some weekends. Check their Facebook page for more details. It's a quick drive even from Roseville or Auburn; just hop on the freeway. Nice, pleasant spot in the country away from the big crowds. read more

Not sure what to say. We caught them this evening at Moonraker. We were really excited. We ordered Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles. It was inedible. It was old, dry, tasteless. I even ordered the Drunken Noodles "hot", it was not at all. Honestly, we couldn't tell the difference between the two dishes. Good thing we had grabbed Burger King nuggets and fries for our grandson, we helped him with that, as our meals went in the trash. Maybe an "off" day? I don't know. But based on this experience, I cannot recommend. read more

Excellent food and interesting place to visit. I only wish food is not as hot when it comes out. There is a nice produce store there as well. I love drunken noodles and curry pork. Their Thai tea is the best!! If you are not hungry, I suggest at least stop for coffee and tea. They are at a very convenient location, just off the 80. read more

This place is a GEM. I know you might be thrown off by the three stars but let me explain. We open upon the CuuTest little Produce stand with well maintained and adorable little chill spots. Like umbrella'd picnic tables. Adirondack Chairs spaces. A handmade artisan bench. Definitely a VIBE. Chill spots abound here for those looking for that cute country vibe. (I wonder if beer can be brought in?) I procured locally made bbq spice rubs, some local grown organic spinach and sourdough bread. Loving the support of the local businesses vibe. And then a THAI FOOD TRUCK. (Sigh). .... Heaven. No doubt I ordered the typical Thai faves - 1 Pad Thai Chicken 1 Yellow Curry Chicken *chef's kiss* to the Yellow Curry Chicken. OMG! Thank you for it's perfect coconutty flavor I had hoped for. I ordered it spicy and ode to the sweet and hot that I love. Ok, so obviously I LOVE the Curry Chicken (5 Stars) Now on to the 3-star part (sigh) The Pad Thai Chicken tasted sweet. Abnormally sweet. As if the cook was hiding a mistake with sugar. Now, I am not sure but I think that mistake was too much fish sauce (patis), as that was the odd after-taste that lingered after every bite. I ordered this spicy too, and not even the heat was able to help compensate for that sweetness. It was a pad Thai disaster to the point where I questioned my pad Thai Chicken taste pallet. So, I've been exiting the 80 at Penryn twice a week for years, and it wasn't til' recently that I noticed that there was a Thal restaurant there. I suppose it's easy to miss, sitting there next to a little produce stand, and this time I decided to go check it out. I I walked up and was greeted by a young man who seems to be in charge, he was pleasant, and I ordered my food. My order consisted of Drunken Noodles with pork and Pad Thai with chicken. Both of these items were about three dollars less then they would be at a regular sit down restaurant. I guess it's a little cheaper because this restaurant is operating out of a little trailer . While I was waiting, a young woman came up to order who was exclaiming that she was there to get the potstickers, and that they were the best potstickers around, which made me decide to try them on my next visit. I drove home with my food, and opened the packages, where I was treated to a delicious aroma, wafting out of each. The first thing that impressed me was the size of the portions, they ended up being large enough for two meals for me and my wife. When I started eating, I realized that this little tin cans of a restaurant has the best Thai food in the entire area. I was so impressed with the flavor, the spices, and especially the flavor of the pork that was in the drunken noodles. This is the kind of eatery I'm always on the lookout for. I love places that are not only cheap but have top quality food. Do yourself a favor and check them out. First, the location is awesome! The produce stand here is amazing and the lot itself is very inviting and comfy. The food at the Thai food truck is the best I've had! Drunken noodles is one of my faves as well as the fried rice. The pork skewers are a must have! I highly recommend this place! The live music on the weekends is a bonus. I really wanted to like this place. Interesting outdoor setting, park like and actually kind of peaceful. The freeway noise 100 yards away actually wasn't bad, and there was music to help drown it out. We ordered one item just to try out the food. A Yellow Curry with chicken medium heat/spicy. We live nearby so we ordered it to go and brought it home. The price seemed a little high for food truck food given that there are a lot of really good Thai restaurants around that charge less (especially at lunch), and you get waited on, and sit at a table. The menu also seems a bit limited compared to Thai restaurant menus. I get it, food truck, but I was looking for a nice red or green or maybe a Panang curry. These seem to be Thai staple entrees. No luck here. Unfortunately, the Yellow Curry didn't hit the spot for us either. A fair quantity of food, but not overwhelming. Very hot and bland, and no flavor. I really look forward to a flavor kick with Thai food. I hope the Thai Village House picks up it's game. I like the concept, and I'd try it again if the menu had a bit more variety, and they punched up the flavor. We'll see what happens. read more

The food was good, but not great like the other reviews are saying. Yes it is very nice to have a Thai place close by and the atmosphere is fun. Picnic tables are outside on a nice piece of property. The food itself is expensive for the lunch portions that we received and it took over a half hour to get our food with only one other customer ahead of us. Maybe this new place will iron out it's kinks and become better over time.. I wish them luck and I am willing to give it another try in the future. read more
