Menu was huge! We all ordered from different sections, but everything was tasty and came out together. Jackfruit smoothie was a flavor I had never tried before, but really enjoyed the tropical mix without too much extra artificial taste. Loved my pho, with classic broth, rare steak on the side, tasty beef balls, and the extra plate of things to throw in to my hearts content. Beef stew was typically Vietnamese style, but the carrots were slightly undercooked. Overall, would definitely try more things here if I had the time. Seems to be a family run business, and they had so many tables open. Try it out!

Came highly recommended, and boy does this place deserve it! The atmosphere is friendly, and the food-- the FOOD. Where do I begin? I'm writing this a few days after my visit, so I don't remember which specific dishes were ordered (there are TONS of options, and all of them looked amazing) but I can never forget how great our meals were. My friend ordered pho and I ordered pad thai, and we shared an appetizer. The first bite of my pad thai was like discovering a whole new paradise. I'm not even kidding. Same with the second bite, and the third. When I tell you I had a spiritual experience, I'm not exaggerating. Do you remember the last time you had to close your eyes while you ate from sheer pleasure? This is mine.

PHO!!

My wife and I stopped here for a bowl of pho on a snowy day. We made our decision based solely on the reviews of fellow Yelpers. Unfortunately, our experience was not as positive as others have experienced. Upon entering the place, which was completely empty at lunch on a weekend, we were greeted by a nice young man. After exchanging pleasantries, he informed us that he was sick..... we should have taken that as a clue. The good news: There was a good selection of pho offerings and the bowls served to us were good.... certainly above average. The cons: The server was not the only one with a cold. The incessant sneezing, coughing and aggressive throat clearing by the kitchen staff became a bit unnerving. The restaurant itself could have also used a thorough cleaning. The walls were decorated with mirrors which were covered by greasy hand prints, etc.

This place has always been my go-to. A fire spot for dinner or hangover cure after a night out. It's always been a pleasure to be serve by Thanh himself. One of my favorite spots for Pho in Portland, ME.

Tried durian for the first time as a shake. Not bad. Son had a jackfruit shake. The fried dumplings were crispy and fresh and very light- excellent. I had the p1 beef and my son had the sweet and sour soup with shrimp. The broth was on point and the vegetables were fresh and bright. This is the real deal! Service was excellent, tables well spaced and clean

We live in the neighborhood and get dinner across the street at Saigon at least once a week (which is always amazing). My wife wanted pho on a Wednesday, when Saigon is closed, so we tried this place. Was hopeful and really wanted to like it. The interior is super odd, cold, and generally unpleasant. The guy who took my order was very nice, but kept wiping his runny nose with his fingers while he talked to me. Food came out relatively quickly. Order pho and lomein with tofu and bean sprouts to go. Lomein was inedible, and not lomein (or at least what I was expecting when I ordered lomein). Dripping in oil and tasted like expired fish sauce...gag. Literally took one bite and spit it out. Pho broth was luke warm so I had to heat everything up in a pot when it didn't "cook" the rare beef. "Worst pho I've had" - my wife. Would have loved to like this place...but won't be going back. Do yourself a favor and just hit up Saigon (and skip Vietnamese on weds when they're closed).

Pretty good little spot for Maine. Their pho is a-ok, nothing to write home about. I +.5 star for them being open for dinein since we were flying out and .5 star for the staff lady's high energy. I'm trying to be fair here bc 1) I'm from GA where there's a lot for Vietnamese restaurants and 2) I'm Vietnamese so my standards are high for Vietnamese food .

I took my dad to Thanh Thanh 2 for his first bowl of pho, and now he's hooked!

Thanh Thanh 2 is wonderful. I grew up in Portland, and so I had certainly been a few times before moving out of state, but anytime myself or both me and my girlfriend are back visiting Maine, we have to come here at least once or twice. Their broth is unbelievably beefy, smooth, and flavorful without being too salty, and the use of fresh bun instead of dried is a real plus. Pretty good sizes on the meat servings as well. And don't forget the amazing shakes, made with fresh fruit! It's better quality Vietnamese food than I can usually find in and around the NYC area, which is saying a lot! Portland really has a gem of a restaurant with this place, and how could I forget to mention how kind and accommodating the owner and family are? Even when we stop in just to buy broth on its own, the service is excellent and friendly.

Food is okay. Restaurant can be hit or miss on cleanliness, depending on who's working, which also is hit or miss on the tude.

Our go-to for pho and their chow fun! Haven't dined "in" much since Covid but when we "gotta have it" the take out gets us thru!

I absolutely love this place!! My favorite dish is the chicken pad Thai (3 star so it's got some…read morespice). The prices are WILDLY great - they never took advantage of the "covid price hike" as so many other businesses did. The service is great - very fast, kind people, and they even let me place an order close to closing time without giving me any attitude at all (I asked if it was ok haha - but regardless they're accommodating) Try this place for sure. Lastly, the spring rolls are super fresh, and I think I get some beef and rice or something now and then too - which was also incredible... pad Thai is just my favorite

I have been here numerous times for take out. They have a no nonsense menu of classic "American"…read moreAsian foods like fried rice and pad thai for very reasonable prices and great quantities. I come here particularly for the rice dishes because they make them to taste as you would expect! They don't do anything fancy or special but there's enough of that in Portland tbh Atmosphere is fun with a counter to order but also an Asian grocery store with 2 aisles. Parking is street parking nearby (no dedicated parking lot) - but I've never had trouble finding a spot I will definitely be back to get comfort food vibe Asian food for prices that are very reasonable. I recommend!!

However, we were blown away by the sandwiches we picked up here on our way to the airport. (Easy to call and order) For $11 each, the sandwiches were a perfect (and generous) ratio of bread, meat, pickles, jalapeno and sauce. Our hands down favorite was the lemon grass beef which had such good lemongrass flavor. The lemon grass chicken was also good, tasty chunks of satay-like chicken meat. The pork was fine but paled in comparison.

I'm sure many people in Portland, Maine enjoy this style of Vietnamese food, and I can understand…read morewhy. Coming from the Bay Area in California, though, my expectations are a bit different. Vietnamese cuisine there is typically much brighter and more vibrant, with bold flavors, fresh herbs, and a noticeable balance of acidity, sweetness, and umami. This meal had all of the right components, but the flavors felt much more muted than what I'm accustomed to. My guess is that the recipes have been adapted to better suit local tastes rather than aiming for the more assertive flavor profile that's common in areas with larger Vietnamese communities. If you've never had Vietnamese food before, you'll likely enjoy it. If you're used to Vietnamese restaurants in places like San Jose or the Bay Area, you may find yourself wishing for a little more brightness and intensity. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, just not the style of Vietnamese food I was hoping for.
