Thanh Thuy Florist provided flowers for my Dad's funeral service. They were recommended by a friend who had actually done the same. They have a website that you can order off of but it was a little difficult to use and in the end there was a problem which she quickly rectified. We did go into the store after the online order to discuss colors and actually add on more to our order. Plus it's nice to meet face to face. She was a very nice lady to talk to giving suggestions to our requests. The arrangements and boutonnières they made were lovely and she was in time in delivering and arranging them at the mortuary. The only hiccups were due to the website as for some reason it charged us correctly but had the wrong number of boutonnières. Thankfully there was a day between the viewing and the mass so she was easily able to get them ready in time. She said she didn't create the site and it isn't maintained so best to call her or come in. We did message her through the planning process and she was prompt in responding. I had services for my wedding done here awhile ago. Flowers and local band were good for Vietnamese music BUT they were TERRIBLE for photography, makeup, and video!!! She recommended some family members to do makeup, photography, and video for my wedding. Photography and video were so bad. Really amateur. Makeup is very heavy and looks very costumey. Very tacky. Please go somewhere else to get these done otherwise you'll be very dissapointed. I'm getting my wedding pictures retaken and done elsewhere. It's a huge hassle and I feel like I wasted so much of my time and money. I don't want anyone going through this so please don't go here for your wedding photos. Beautiful flowers for funeral service. Thuy did my wedding draperies and I remember she also does florals for funerals so we gave her a call and went to visit her store. She doesn't have samples on display, but she showed us some pics/designs on her webpage and phone. I don't know why the other reviews say she doesn't speak English, but she does speak English. Her webpage isn't updated, but the photos on there are pretty representative of her designs (please see my photos for the ones she made as of 2/421). If you would like to place an order by phone, just tell her your budget and what colors you want. She'll make it pretty for you, but if you're specific of a shape, size, etc., just tell her. She accepts cash, credit card, and I believe check (at least she did for my wedding). My cousin who ordered from her said she also accepts Venmo. Thuy works fast and you can tell she puts her heart into making sure the flowers are up to your expectations. My family placed an order 5 days ago for 3, recommended the rest of the family to order through her, and came out with a total of 10 orders that was completed within a few days and all looked beautiful. UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRELIABLE! Do not waste your time here. My mom called to get some drapes and linen for our tea ceremony 3 weeks before the event. Thuy (the owner) said to give her the measurements we need and she will have it ready for us. We sent her what we needed immediately and she then said she'll have it on Saturday (a week before our ceremony). On the day that we're supposed to pick up, we called to make sure it was ready and she replied "have what ready?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? She then apologized saying she's been busy with floral arrangements and will give us a call tomorrow when it is ready. Tomorrow came and still no words from her!! WTF!?!? Ordered a flower display on Sunday afternoon for a funeral on Tuesday morning. I wasn't in town so I couldn't visit the store to choose the flowers but they made the order simple for me. I got to choose the price ($160, $180, $200) and the colors. The florist made the suggestion of yellow or red. I chose red and white. They will also ask you what you want on the ribbon. Usually you want to write who the flowers are from (ex: John Smith Family) and the second ribbon will say a condolence message (ex: With Deepest Sympathy). The cost will also cover delivery. The flowers arrived the morning of on time and we're stunning. The writing was made with sparkling glitter gel and beautifully written. The flowers included hydrangeas, roses, orchids, and gladiolus. Flowers were all fresh and lasted all day. This florist speaks Vietnamese and I found it very difficult to communicate in English so ordering was a bit frustrating but I'm very happy with the finished product! read more

The owner is very hard to work with. When we first came in to ask her about rental rates and to get ideas on what to rent etc. As much as i understand she been doing 'millions' of weddings or whatever, she really have to stop telling the customer what they should or shouldn't' rent. Its our wedding and money, wth. I would be pointing out something i want she would say NO this, and You SHOULD do this or rent these. What the heck? I got to a point where i really wanted to go somewhere else because she was pretty much planning everything we wanted to rent for her wedding instead of what we wanted. I was so upset after her like 5th comment on 'You SHOULD..' i wanted to say 'Look lady...are you planning your wedding?'. Service is so bad, once she feel you not going to rent a lot of stuff (hence not enough $$), and another customer comes in it's like i'm helping this person...and leave you pretty much hanging. I would never ever recommend this store, they are rude and they think they some kind of top notch number in the biz in San Diego..Please! We ordered the flowers on Wednesday to be delivered the next day and not only did they fulfill our orders, they didn't charge us extra for last minute order or delivery! (We did order $200 in flowers though) The flowers were beautifully arranged, very full and arrived on time. They sent an e-mail confirming that they've received our order within 30 minutes after I submitted it. The part where you input the delivery address and instructions is kind of confusing though since it was in the form of a "send us an e-mail" type thing and it didn't specify what you have to write out. After driving around 3 different places just to get the run around or tuxedos that look like they were made in bad 1980's Chinese mafia movies, I dropped by here on a recommendation of a friend who did his wedding with her. I guess I don't understand what everyone was complaining about. She did our centerpieces for 32 tables, the bridal party table, bootineres, bouquet, tuxedos, and ao dai. She was very true to her word. She called to make sure people were coming in to get measurements. She acomodated my fiance's changes and my mother's impromptu add ons. She was very thorough in her explanations and followed through completely. Pricing was far superior for better tuxedos. read more

She'll say whatever it takes to get your money ("I can order that fabric for you in whatever color you want" or "we can order those flowers for you no problem"), but she falls short of living up to the promises she makes. this place is HORRIFIC!!!! went there to get an ao dai (traditional vietnamese dress) made for my sister's wedding. went there 2 months in advanced to make sure i got it in time. the lady told me to come back in 4 weeks to try on my dress. i even called her the day before and she said, yea come in well i came in and it was NOT MADE. she said that the fabric was cut too small and wouldnt fit me. it took her a month to tell me that? what a waste of time! i told her i wanted my money back, she said no and made me pick another fabric. i ended up having to fight for my money back for HER mistake. she would only give it to me when i made a huge scene, and when i walked out she told her customers that it was my fault and that i was a crazy customer (my friends were still inside) thank goodness another shop made it for me in 3 weeks. P.S. i was also in the store when another customer came to pick up flowers. they had ordered red corsages and when they came to pick it up, it was pink. cmon now, really?? people order specific colors for what they wear. anyway, she swore that the customer ordered red flowers...until the customer took her receipt out!! read more

I stopped in here by chance last week while looking for some Vietnamese food. I'm glad I did because had I looked at the Yelp reviews I would have avoided this place. The owner is a hard working business woman and there is nothing wrong with trying to sale your services. I was in the market for an Ao Dai which is a Vietnamese dress. I wanted a well made one because this one will be the precursor to my wedding Ao Dai. The owner helped me find an exquisite pattern that drapes my body perfectly and made me look slimmer as the Ao Dai is a very feminine and figure forming dress. She had it ready for me in 1 week. I was very impressed with her professionalism. She took measurements on a Saturday and told me to come back on Wednesday for a fitting before the final version. I made an appointment to come back at 6:00PM. At 2:00 she called me to apologize that it was not completed but I should come the next day. I told her I would there around two and when I arrived an almost completed dress was there for the fitting. I put it on. She put in the pins and we decided on where the decolletage line should be and the final length and then told me to come back on Saturday for the final version. When I came by on Saturday for the final fitting. It was perfect no adjustment needed and she ironed before handing me the dress on a hanger. I am very pleased and can not wait to wear it to my next Vietnamese formal event. Remember folks this is business that have to pay for their rent, utilities, taxes and also to provide a living for the owner's family. I do not find the this place to be dishonest but find a very helpful owner with good taste and does know her craft. read more

Ok buyer beware! We just had a wedding at an upscale venue in DT. We took the word of our friend that she will be able to reproduce a certain look we wanted and boy did she fall flat. She will tell you that she can produce looks that are elegant an will assure you that everything will be beautiful. We gave her photos of the look for the center pieces and other essential flowers but she only produce mediocre versions. Case in point we wanted big branches that looked lil trees with lots of crystals and flowers flanking our sweetheart table. Again we gave her photos and she assured us she could do it. When that arrived at the venue they were tall beaten up wood planters with branches sticking out and only about half the size if what we had talked about. The crystals and flowers that were to adorn them looked haphazardly applied. Just know her level of elegance is not on par with the mainstream clients. It may have been the language barrier or just her level of comprehending the look you are going for. She is known in the viet community but if you are having an event outside the typical venues she falls way short of providing elegance and style. If you could give 0 stars I would! read more

i totally agree with all the reviews here! too bad i didn't look up this place up before i went here.if you are renting an ao dai off the rack she has and you're the average petite small asian girl you're safe. but if you need to custom make your ao dais think again!! if you pull an ao dai off the rack and say you want this for your bridesmaids you won't get what you want. although she reassures you. "oh i can get that fabric" "that's no problem" it won't look the same like it did for me. when i came back to ask why is it different how come i wasn't informed it would turn out this way, she kept dodging the question never answering. she kept saying it was the same as the one on the rack. i went to go pull the original one off the rack and mysteriously it was gone. so i found another one in blue. she kept saying it was the same. we even showed pictures we had.she says the girls of my bridal party were large so we couldn't do buttons down the sides, they dont have the mesh like the original one had and all this crap. i was also told that the dresses on the rack were the old ones if u wanted to buy one of those she can make the exact one..huh?. but if you were renting then no she can't make the exact one. she has to keep up with the times and style every yr. blah blah.when i got the ao dais on my wedding day (things kept getting push back, kept getting delays and excuses, my parents live close by so i popped in unexpectedly all the time), the flowers were ironed on. it was in the shape of the letter T right on the chest! oh hell no. glittery puff paint squiggles all around? it looked like a child's craft project my sister said! down below the dress was another flower applique same with puff paint. it seriously looked like a freaking catepillar with legs.oh it was a mess! few of us show up at the store questioning the dresses and an older lady says "ohh, its already nice. why are u complaining? just take it" are u serious? i got a freaking T on my chest and a catepillar looking thing on my thigh! lady makes excuses saying she isn't making money on custom making the dresses, if anything she is losing money. its like lady, you saw me come in the 1st day with my girls and you took their measurements, if they were too fat and too tall for to do it then u should have said so. lies lies lies and excuses after excuses. dont believe her crap. take ur hard earned money and go else where. oh and another thing when we were complaining about the flower applique she was like more more more u americans always want more. too much is not good. i jus wanted her to fix the goddam flower and the nasty-ass puff paint glitter! oh and i'm glad my sister is clumsy she tore a hole in it with her heel =) but barely few hrs of wearing the dress, the flowers had started to come off! hot glue gun to the rescue! and my girls wore the shit out of the dresses. stains and everything! hurray! I have never being treated with that level of rudeness and disrespect in my entire life. I went in to pick up my bridmadies dresses today just to find a notice on their door directing me to go pick up my dresses through the backdoor. I then called Thanh the owner to let her know that I am at the backdoor because the door was locked. Upon entering, her mom or auntie start yelling at me in Vietnamese. I didn't know what I did wrong but she pointed at my feet yelling I looked down just to find out that I have stepped on one of the sympathy decor that they were working on. I am a very respectful person and would not purposely step on something so meaningful. After I repeatedly apologized, they were not having it. One of the gentleman that was arranging some flowers start yelling at me telling me that " sorry is just a word and its not going to fix what i did" and went on and on. I had enough and told him that if they were that busy, they could have told me to pick up my dresses some other time or atlest won me when I spoke to them on the phone. No they didn't want to hear my apology. He stated that they are working on a "big" feneral" and didn't have time to fix anything. Thanh, and your family, today you have lost a valuable customer. I was looking forward to using your flowers services for my wedding which is in few weeks, buy or order my flowergirls dresses, recommending my niece to order her dress as well as bridmadies dresses, flowers, etcs for her upcomeing wedding next year from your shop but after your rudeness today, we desided to take our business else where.
