We held our wedding in New Haven ... Paula, Rachel, and her team from That Look were able to deliver a flawless proposal for pricing and services, as well as traveled to my wedding destination and coordinated with the makeup artist (from another company) extremely well. Talk about EASY PEASY!!! Vibe was on point!!!! We had two brides, plus a bridal party of seven additional women ... Paula and the team managed everything PERFECTLY and to our schedule (early, in fact)! I brought my teenage daughter for a simple trim (2" of slightly wavy hair) from Brooke. I left to run a quick errand and within 2 minutes my daughter texts me to say her hair wasn't washed. She was too embarrassed to ask Brooke so I called the front desk who told me it was the hair dresser's choice to wash or not. I've gone there for several years and my wonderful hairdresser (Amber) always washed my hair, no discussion. Within 5 minutes, my daughter says her trim was done. I called the front desk again to say there is no way her hair was cut in this little time. The front desk said it is up to the hair dresser to cut the hair. The hair dresser said she didn't need to blow dry her hair bc it was dry (I had also booked a blow dry). She then tried to sell my daughter on doing her hair for her upcoming prom. Upon returning to the salon, both the hair dresser and receptionist were adamant that the unwashed, quick cut was worth the money I spent. I was not offered an apology or a refund. When we got home, my daughter told me the hairdresser cut her hair while my daughter stood up (as in, not sitting in the chair). And upon closer inspection, the simple trim was VERY uneven. I emailed the salon notifying them of the experience and requested a refund. The next day, I receive a voicemail saying I get a salon credit for the "miscommunication" that happened. I have been going to Amber for haircuts for years and I adore her and the hair cuts she does. I am sad that I cannot go back there given the poor treatment my daughter received from Brooke the hairdresser, the receptionist, and management. So, moral of the story- book with Amber if you choose to go to this salon. read more

If I could give them a 0 then I would. It was my first time ever going here. I read the reviews and they seemed good. I made my appointment online and left a $93 deposit to hold it. I signed up for a Balayage Partial, Haircut, with Color, Gloss, Toner Balance and a Shellac Manicure. The stylist did my balayage partial and toner ONLY! She didn't color the rest of my hair when I asked for a color refresh and I stated to her that she didn't cover my gray hair like I asked. She said that she didn't see any of my gray hair...I have tons of gray hair in my front hairline. I asked for curtain bangs with front layers for my haircut. I got regular short kid bangs and no visible layers for my front. Then it was time for my manicure. I sat at the table, and the lady asked what shape and color. She then proceeded to file my nails, push my cuticles back and then began painting my nails. She didn't cut my cuticles, clean under my nails and used no oils or creams on my nails whatsoever. At no point did she do any cleaning of my hands or nails. She painted my nails with dirt still under them!!! In total they charged me almost $245!! (without tip). Which they asked me if I would like to include a tip to my bill as I was paying and both the hairstylist and nail tech were standing next to the counter and watching me pay. So here is the breakdown. It cost $110 for highlights ONLY, $40 for the toner for my partial highlights, $42 for my 6th grade haircut and $45 for my unsanitary manicure. 0/10...never going back read more

I have gone to That Look Salon for several years now and Brooke is always fantastic! She is very knowledgeable in her craft and seems to work magic on my hair every single time. Brooke is efficient and detail oriented. We started off as strangers but now I won't go to anyone else unless I move! Whether I'm going back to blonde or brunette, Brooke always finds the perfect color. The salon has a very nice atmosphere and the recent bathroom renovation is on point. Quite possibly the worst haircut I have ever received. I understand that my hair is hard to work with, as it is thick and wavy, but I expect after paying close to $30 for a trim, I would walk out with something close to what I wanted. Going into the appointment, I asked for a trim and showed pictures of what my hair looked like in late October. Coming out, my hair was not only un-even on either side, some parts far too long on the top than the rest of the hair, $30 poorer, and my hair was maybe 3 inches shorter than I expected. It is safe to say that I will be looking for a new place to get my hair cut. read more

No precision with their cuts. I have tried this place on 2 separate occasions and was left with an uneven cut both times. Both cuts were just a basic bob that is slightly longer in the front than the back and both times the right side was noticeably longer than the left. I have also gotten high lights here twice. They do an okay job, but they are a little too thick of stands for my taste and look a little too streaky. After the first experience, I thought I would go back and try another stylist. I was not impressed with this place at all. I've gotten much better pedicures elsewhere for half the price. There were no other customers in the salon, which should have been my first clue, and I got what they call a "deluxe" pedicure. There was NOTHING deluxe about it. Other places I've been to have the spa type tub to soak your feet, the nice big cushy massage chair, and they do the whole shebang - scrubs, lotions, paraffin, hot stone massage, shoulder massage, etc and it only costs around $30. This place had NONE of those things and it was $50!!! Total ripoff. I will not be going back. read more
