Local restaurant/bar within walking distance of the hotel we stayed at... great location. The place was packed, we were able to grab a seat near the bar and place an order to go. I ordered their charred broiled hanger steak and roasted tomato bruschetta... very tasty and didn't get soggy on the walk back! The maple glaze bacon wrapped scallops were so tender and sweet! My group shared an order of the potstickers... nice and crispy and full of flavor! Had a few funky bow pale ales on draft as we waited for our order. This is a 4.5 for me. We ate outside (still wary of the indoor dining process when we went) and they were very accommodating, attentive and made sure the heaters were doing their thing. Loved the way the Salmon was done, and my filet was cooked perfect. this is more my style than a critique, I love asparagus "grilled' and these were very tasty but a tad burnt, and the string beans were "blasé". French beans with a little spice would have worked better than blanched beans. I always try an onion soups when I can, its a way to compare many different places using the same food as a scale; Cheese and bread was good, flavorful and not over dilled but thought the onions could have used more time being caramelized and then simmered in the stock, which I like deep in color, this was lighter than I had hoped. Like the onion soup, crème Brule is another food I use to scale an experience, this was one of the best. Drinks a tad pricey but a decent pour. read more

This is and has always been our favorite restaurant. Every year it's on the plan to go to dinner here. My whole family, because of previous experiences, also make it their ritual as well. Everyone has an off night so I'm not saying I'll never have dinner here again. I was disappointed. The calamari, which has always been the best was flavorless. The slow roasted beets were ok, not wow. The beef tenderloin was over done, the sauce was barbecue at best. The smashed potatoes were flavorless. The asparagus was good but green beans were over done and absolutely nothing on them. The service was fantastic as always and the cocktails were delicious. I'll try again next time read more

5 of us are in the dining room. We had 3 appetizers,tuna poke(as fresh as it gets), calamari and bacon wrapped scallops. All were excellent. Cosmos and lemon drop martini were very tasty. Not what it was last time I visited... Went on a Saturday at 5:30pm. For the prices you pay, I was expecting so much more. The pork belly was flavorless. The Thai noodles were such a disappointment- a bowl of noodles, mushrooms, and bell pepper. It was missing texture and flavor- scallions, peanuts, chilis- something! I can do far better at home. There are quite a few " smart casual" dining options in Ogunquit and I cannot claim to have tried them all, but , of those I have sampled That Place stands out. It is a small town average floor plan that lends an air of intimacy to a roomy vibe. The service is highly trained and knowledgeable but without being pretentious. As for the menu, it is large enough for choice but simple enough to suggest specificity and care for each dish. Escargots seem to be out of favor these days but here they immediately caught my attention and did not disappoint! Neither did the generous and perfectly cooked pork chop. Utterly delicious! My Hendricks martini arrived with a slice of cucumber as garnish- a stroke of genius- and has since become my sine qua non ( if you can persuade the bar tender to supply the cucumber!) Had a GREAT dinner here with a friend right before seeing the Cher Show!!! A little bit off the main drag in Ogunquit, That Place looks like just another home along a residential road, so it is a bit hard to notice, but once we figured it out and parked, we were greeted by a super friendly server and taken right to a wonderful table right next to a window! We ordered up some Margaritas, which were great and then went for french onion soups (great) and split a haddock dinner with fries and a roast beef au jus sandwich with horseradish mayo. Everything was solid and well prepared, standouts were the soups, with LOTS of melted cheese on top and the french fries that came with the sandwich. OK, so you might think I'm stalking this place. I'm not. But I do make it a point to go here whenever I'm in Ogunquit. Another perfect evening with The Wife (Patti). For the first time, we sat at a bistro table near the bar. Great view of the street and bar patrons. That Place seems very much a locals place to gather. Also for the first time, I got the seafood stew (Cioppino) sp?. Fabulous! Rich with seafood and a semi-spicy broth. Patti wasn't real hungry so opted for a haddock sandwich and French onion soup. Both excellent. Our waitress (Nicole, I think) was very friendly, helpful and attentive. As my 5 stars will attest, I highly recommend this place (Oops, That Place) when in Ogunquit. That Place is "The" place you want to hit up if you are in the area. It has a bar and a separate section for dining; serving unbelievably delicious food and one of the few good places open during off season. Sampled the shrimp cocktail, beet salad and ordered the cioppino for dinner and every single item was executed to perfection. The shrimp cocktail had 3 fresh jumbo shrimp and not being a shrimp fan I commented on how good it was! The cioppino was extremely delicious with the right level of spiciness and generous serving of scallops, shrimp, fish and mussels - the picture is deceiving I could not get through all that seafood. Service was excellent - our waitress was very knowledgeable and checked in on us often but never making us feel rushed. Limited parking in the back. A rainy night found us at That Place in April. A blazing fire warmed us up as did the excellent clam chowder and warm bread. A store owner in downtown Ogunquit had recommended this place to my wife and I while we were in her shop. So, we visited on a Saturday evening before seeing a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. The restaurant was located outside of town and away from a bit of the drama. Valet parking is highly recommended or you will have to park in a lot across the street for $15-$25. They do not take reservations and the place will get filled up fast. We began our meal with the salt and pepper calamari. Excellent. Tasty. Arrived temperature hot and seasoned to perfection. No need to add more seasoning. My wife ordered the cajun snapper which came with rice and corn. I ordered the Cioppino (Fisherman's stew) Excellent. Tasty. Broth had a nice little kick to it and there was plenty of seafood. Both portion sizes were very good. No room for dessert. Service was excellent and friendly. Prices were very competitive for the area and maybe a tad on the lower side. No problems parking or retrieving our vehicle from the valet. The storeowner did not steer us wrong. read more

Giving a 4.5 star for "this place".... located just outside of the main area of Ogunquit was amazing. I wish we had visited it earlier. They offer complimentary valet parking. Once you walk in you'll see a friendly bar with lots of people. The restaurant is big with window seating overlooking the main drag. We had a corner table. Only reason for 1/2 star deduction is that it was very dark in that corner, couldn't read menu and hard to see food. Service was outstanding. We had a pair of very friendly and knowledgeable servers. They gave us the 411 on the specials and always updates us on the fresh bread coming and our upcoming meals. A couple of us got the steak and lobster tail add on. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a generous size. The tail was so good. I splurged and got the potatoes, omg so delicious. Seafood was represented at our group table and everyone enjoyed. The steak eaters also came out happy with full bellies. They didn't have blueberry pie so we did not partake in dessert. We will definitely come back when we are back in town. Had an Excellent dinner tonight (Thursday 9/5/24) at 'That Place'....very busy in both the restaurant and bar; service was excellent with our waitress (Pauline) checking in on us multiple times throughout the evening. We had bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer, beet salad and caesar salad, and Pork Chop and Cioppino as our mains. Finished the night with a crème brûlée....Everything, and I mean everything, was prepared perfectly and very tasty..!!
