I booked a condo at the Orange Tree Condo's - downtown San Diego - The Condo was very close to…read moredowntown - and I have no complaints about that. However as we arrived to the Condo - the lockbox numbers were faded and that made it very difficult to open. Once I got inside the couch was not put together - the cushions were on the dinning table and part of the cover zipper was broken, again not that big of a deal but I hoped they would not want to charge me for that. In the pictures for the condos they show a stackable washer and dryer but do not specifically state that they are not available in all condos -- this particular one did not have it in the unit. It would have been nice to know that this location was right in the path of the airport, we would hear the planes every 20 minutes or so. While the unit was clean, I was surprised that the only place to put my clothes away was the closet. This unit had no dresser to put away any other clothing. When staying in a condo I was expected to have somewhere to put things. The unit also had no a/c, another thing that would have been nice to know. I knew the area had only street parking and that was fine, the kitchen was old but clean, the drawers did stick & the coffeemaker had no filters. Also not all the windows had screens and 2 that did have screens were ripped -- which made it a little more difficult the cool down the Condo without an air-conditioned. So would I stay there again - probably not.

I ended up shutting the water off myself to prevent further damage because there was no one there to handle the emergency. That should never happen. Being displaced from your home is stressful enough, but the lack of urgency, communication, and accountability made an already terrible situation even worse. At every step, I felt like the inconvenience to me was treated as an afterthought instead of the direct result of an emergency in the property they manage. A management company's true character shows during emergencies, and this experience completely destroyed my confidence in them.
