We had an extremely disappointing and embarrassing experience at Voodoo Lounge. We drove over an…read morehour to Kansas City specifically to see Dolewite, purchased VIP tickets, and paid for a hotel for the night. This was a planned night out that we were genuinely excited about. My husband was removed from the venue for "swaying" a few times on the dance floor. That was it. No aggression, no disruption, no intoxicated behavior, no confrontation. He has severe knee issues and was simply shifting his weight while standing and enjoying the music. Instead of checking in or handling the situation with any kind of discretion or compassion, security immediately escalated it and kicked us out entirely. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely ruined our night. We lost our VIP experience, the show we traveled for, and the money spent on tickets and lodging. There was absolutely no attempt to understand the situation or treat us like paying customers. This could have been handled in a respectful way, but it was not. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, and I would caution others that security here seems overly aggressive and unwilling to use basic judgment. A night that was meant to be fun turned into an awful memory. Side note: We did not drive , we took uber to and from hotel. It was an expensive evening-RUINED! Also , I googled voodoo lounge after we got back to hotel and the aggressive behavior seems to be a trend of theirs. Something needs to change. The capacity is 700 with a large wide-open space for viewing the stage with its rectangular floor plan. The stage is on the side of the room which provides great vantage points for unobstructed viewing from the elevated bars on each end. There is also a third bar and second set of restrooms in Sound Bite, their attached restaurant in the back. The lighting and sound were also excellent. Along with some limited rail seating at the bars and a large bench along the north floor, they had about 60 chairs and stools lined up in the back and south side of the space. I'm not sure if they are always there or they brought those in because of the older demographic for an Irish Music concert. I attended Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones along with local Irish music legend Eddie Delahunt.

I didn't check that out but I'd definitely be willing to. They have bars on either end with just about everything-liquor, beer, seltzers, water, the usual. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. They do have a bit of security and they do enforce their rules so I recommend looking up the website to see what is allowed. I say that because they kicked an individual out and I rarely see that happen. They do have a smoking patio outside. I saw in other reviews that they have a jukebox but I didn't notice or see that. The concert I attended was EDM ish so I don't think they would've done all that. Probably depends on the band. I will say it was loud. Super loud. I recommend earplugs. Again, it may depend on the band. Oh, and it was clean. Like clean bathrooms and clean floors. I hate sticky floors so I was happy. You do have to get there early to find a spot up front since most of this is GA. however, if you stand behind the mixing board there is a slight incline where you get a pretty good view of the band. the staff and security are friendly and seem to like their jobs. there is also a spot where you can order pizza and other food items to enjoy at the show.
