My husband and I are visiting Syracuse from Michigan decided to hit the town for a date night. We were looking for quality food served in a pleasant environment. After much research, we decided on 317 @ Montgomery. We made reservations for 7 and arrived early, taking our time finding parking. The street that it is located on is historical and beautiful. The streets were clean and street parking was easy to find. There was a lot less than a block away as well. Upon arriving we were greeted by our server Mike, who seated us. He was professional from the moment we met him to the moment we left. Mike was an exceptional server. He was prompt, attentive, kind, funny and polite and provided us with 5 star service. We were very impressed by his professionalism and elite social skills. The food was nothing short of phenomenal. We started out with the Creamy dip with Lump Crab, Roasted corn and Artichoke Hearts.  The crab was Smokey and the sweetness of the corn paired beautifully with the artichoke hearts and creamy sauce. It was served with Naan that was soft on the inside and toasted to perfection on the outside. Next, we each had the Crispy Romaine and House salad, which consisted of Mixed Greens, Tossed in House Made Tarragon Vinaigrette that made my eyes roll into the back of my head. It was topped with creamy crumbled goat cheese, fresh shredded carrots and Nutmeg Dusted Baked Pear that made my mouth water. Quite possibly wine of the most delectable salads I've ever had. For our main course we both decided on the 12oz ribeye, grilled to Perfection, Served with Crispy Smashed Potatoes and Roasted, Sweet and Spicy Heirloom Carrots. My husband got his with the Rosemary Demi-glace and I got the Creamy Peppercorn Sauce. He loved the rosmary Demi-glaze, but I need to toot the horn on the creamy peppercorn sauce. It was just the right amount of spice, adding a tangy bit of heat to each bite, but never overpowering the grilled flavor of the perfectly seared meat. The potatoes were crispy on the outside (actually head a crunch when I split them with my fork) and perfectly soft on the inside. The carrots were mouthwatering and their texture was superb, just the right amount of firmness. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I'm typically someone who adds a lot of salt or pepper to any dish, as I love full flavor meals, and this dish required nothing more. It was absolutely outstanding. Outside of the 5 star flavor, there was 5 star presentation. Each plate was carefully crafted and presented beautifully. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the food tasted even better than it looked. For dessert we got ordered the lemon raspberry cake with a coconut crust and it was light, fluffy, refreshing and paired perfectly with the hot coffee we were served, which was also fantastic. Adding a cherry to the top of our evening, Joel, the owner, came out to greet us and ask us how we enjoyed our meal. We couldn't rave enough. He was so kind, polite, passionate about the restaurant and extremely knowledgeable, even entertaining our questions about the history of the building. He even offered a tour of the rest of the restaurant, which Mike, our server, guided us on. The building was built in the late 1800s and still maintained much of its character, with its unique ceiling, partial brick walls and wood floors, making for an effortlessly moody, peaceful and romantic ambiance. The lighting is soft and warm and the climate inside was comfortable and pleasant, neither too hot or too cold. The walls were covered in tasteful decor that matched the historical character of the restaurant and the floor to ceiling windows out front gave us a front row seat to sunset that glowed off the brick buildings just outside the entrance. All in all, it was one of the best date nights we've ever had. From the 5 star food and service, to the gorgeous decor and historical setting, if you're looking for a knock your socks off meal in a unique and timeless setting, look no further than 317 @ Montgomery. We are counting the minutes until we can go back again.

We went here for Downtown Dining Week. The food was good but the portions were really small (assuming it's because of the dining week). We wanted more and weren't full after all 3 courses. Everything was tasty though. Service and ambiance was nice as well.

Food and atmosphere were excellent, as was the service. Drinks never ran dry before being asked if we wanted a refill. Staff bent over backward to make sure our needs were met. Really eclectic menu which I really appreciated. If you are a Carmel fan the Carmel lava cake is a must!! The cake was very light. I was expecting something more dense and was very pleased with the result!! Chicken Bimbimbop was excellent! If you are adverse to eggs being a bit under done (I am not) make sure to ask them to cook the egg well. Flavors were just amazing! I had not had good Korean food in forever! I will definitely be going back as there were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try! Great date spot!

People need to start eating here! We went on a Tuesday and the restaurant was practically empty. Because of this we had a wonderful window seat for two. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with clean white tablecloths with visible brick walls and wood trim everywhere. There was enough vegetarian options to keep my wife happy, she had a flatbread and the stuffed poblano peppers. Both items were delicious. I enjoyed the pork belly bao buns and the burger. Everything was cooked well and tasted very nice. They only have wine and beer if you are looking for a drink, but had a nice selection of both. I think this is a great place that deserves a better following. Though I'll enjoy the intimate atmosphere until that happens.

First sign of potential concern was that it was a Friday at 5:30pm in downtown Syracuse and we were the only ones there with the exception of 2 people at the bar for drinks. I was hoping it was because it was a pretty cold day. Now I don't know if that's the case. Based on reviews and the menu, we decided to try a new spot. I am trying to hard to support local small places and hoping in the process to find my next new favorite go-to restaurant. This has proved pretty futile. I admittedly have high standards with food and the service but don't think that's too much to ask, depending on where you are. So we're seated in a small front room in the window and it was cold. They obviously know that temp is an issue in here as they had 2 space heaters there. The view was nice but it was cold. In hindsight, I think they wanted to give the appearance of having people in there to any passerby. If you read my other reviews, I'm consistent. I drink water and a lot of it and one of my biggest issues is when I'm sitting there thirsty and the waitstaff doesn't keep my water full (especially with as salty as this food was but we'll get there). So being the only table, you'd think our waitress would have been on top of keeping our glasses full. Nope! You start with some bread - it was some kind of cranberry focaccia maybe? The butter came in the little mini plastic packets with the foil lid you peel back. Not like the butter I saw in some prior reviews that they whipped up there and put in a small ramekin. For Apps: Hubby had the brie - it was warmed in a small skillet and had something that we couldn't place on top of it - it looked like soft candied fruit. It came with small toast pieces to eat. The portion was huge and the taste was pretty good. I had the gold and red beet bruschetta - it came on the same toasts that I felt had the appearance of just being pre-packaged toasts. It was okay but not for the $12 that it was. We both had the filet - it's a 6oz filet and came with green beans -maybe 10 or so and a potato side that was similar to au gratin or scalloped but had different cheeses, including either gorgonzola or blue. The filet was heavily salted. I ended up leaving at least an ounce of steak on the plate as it was fatty and had the tough tendon type of white stuff streaked through. My husband's steak was not as bad with the fat/tendons. You could tell when mine came it out that it may be like that as the top was separating - it almost looked like someone cut little slits in the top. Overall, the total was approx $90-100 as my husband had one glass of red wine. I personally wouldn't return here - it was too salty (I was so parched the next morning) and combine that with the lack of keeping my water full when the restaurant was empty, would concern me that when it's busy, you'd be really parched.

    Chicken bibimbap

I was excited to try their chicken bibimbap bowl. The pictures of it looked delicious. I believe I was one of the first people in for lunch when they opened and it came out pretty quickly. However I was very surprised and disappointed at the state of the food that I received. I paid 20 bucks for the half chicken bibimbap and it was not giving worth 20 dollars... The rice was undercooked but greasy to the point that it was leaking through the container and into the bag. And the chicken thighs just looked grey and unseasoned. Couldn't even get through a couple bites. Super expensive for what they're putting out. The only good about this meal were the bean sprouts and shaved carrots they gave as toppings. It was the only thing I could eat!

Bottom: Copy of Mushroom, Garlic and Truffle Flatbread 10/10 Top: Duck Confit Poutine 10/10 - both were FILLING!

My husband & I came to celebrate our new marriage and we were beyond pleased with the food and service here. We had their three course dinner and each course was filling, flavorful, and great quality. I definitely recommend trying their duck confit poutine (appetizer) and their cioppino (entree). We had told them prior that we would be coming to celebrate our marriage, and when we got there, there was fresh flowers at our table, a congratulations sign, and the owner came over to wish us well. Everyone was very friendly & we will most definitely be returning!

They were really kind to accommodate our walk in and sat us within 10 minutes of arriving. We came to have dinner before a show at Landmark and this looked good and was within walking distance of the theater. The owner greeted and ended up serving us (assuming maybe short staffed for the eve?) He was very kind and explained the specials in detail. We ordered a filet and the grouper special and then the place filled up. At that point I think maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed. Our food took a very long time, with the owner coming out a few separate times to tell us it was almost done and apologize. We had about 20 minutes to get to the theater when the food arrived, so assuming it took about 45 minutes to prepare. The owner was obviously apologetic then went running around to deal with other tables. I cut into my medium steak and it was rare to mid-rare. I can't do red in my steak or if I do it's very little, so I was pretty disappointed. One of the servers came over to check on us and I mentioned that I had ordered medium but that we had the show so I was afraid to send it back. She apologized. My date likes his steak more rare so he ate most of it and I had some of his fish. The sauce on the steak was a bit salty and overpowered the meat. The potatoes and green beans with it were unremarkable. The Grouper was actually pretty fishy, while I usually find it quite mild. The sauces on the plate paired nicely with the fish, but I didn't see anything on his plate that looked like chorizo ragu. I think maybe they were a bit overwhelmed or short staffed, I just thought it was ok. Smaller portions, very small menu, a bit cramped in the restaurant, pricey, and just ok.

Peruvian-Japanese! 4.7…read more We were far from home. It was our participation in Ross Bentley's Driver Development Course in Lafayette that brought us to the Syracuse area (see my review for Pineview Run Auto & Country Club). With the track only about 20 minutes away, Syracuse was the best option for hotels and dining. Inka's Peruvian cuisine, with a splash of "Nikkei," was exactly what we were looking for and precisely what our bodies needed for fuel after some intense driving. The migration of Japanese immigrants to Peru in the late 1800s and early 1900s was the beginning of what eventually evolved into one of Peru's distinctive culinary traditions, now known as Nikkei. This unique cuisine blends Japanese techniques and ingredients with Peruvian flavors and traditions. At Inka's, those Peruvian roots take center stage, with touches of Nikkei cuisine developed by Chef Flavio Solórzano. We started with two cocktails: Maracuyá Sour (pisco, aquafaba, citrus and passion fruit) and Cuzco (Empress cucumber-lemon gin, mint, lemon juice, St-Germain and soda). Both were beautifully balanced and delicious. We finished them off rather quickly, which naturally led us to order a pitcher of red sangria. It was wonderfully refreshing after a long, hot day and paired beautifully with our meal. For our meal, we ordered: * Chicharrones de Calamari ~ Perfectly light and crispy breaded calamari, with both rings and tentacles, fried to a delicate crunch and served with their house tartar sauce. * Pollo a la Brasa ~ Peruvian-marinated chicken, slow-roasted over wood and charcoal until the skin was beautifully golden and crisp. It was served with french fries and their signature ají pollero sauce. The entrée also came with an ensalada verde, a side salad of mixed greens, tomato, onions and avocado tossed in a homemade vinaigrette. * Arroz Chaufa ~ Peruvian-style fried rice, wok-tossed with egg, scallions and lettuce in a sweet orange-pineapple sauce and topped with crispy fried spring onions. We added the seafood option of calamari, fish and shrimp. The rice was perfectly textured and nicely seasoned, with a subtle sweetness from the sauce. This dish can also be made gluten-free upon request. * Apple Tart ~ For dessert, we shared an Apple Tart. It was a lovely way to round out our dinner. Everything was delicious. Normally, for variety, we like to order an assortment of dishes and take the leftovers home so we can enjoy them again later. However, traveling far from home didn't make that particularly practical this time. I would have loved to sample more of the menu, especially some of their Nikkei selections. We also enjoyed Inka's inviting and cheerful atmosphere. The greenery cascading across the ceiling is eye-catching and seems to serve as the room's centerpiece, even if you have to look up to appreciate it. Your eyes are naturally drawn upward. It's a wonderful setting for a date night or a lively dinner with friends or a group. The service was friendly and prompt, adding to an already enjoyable evening. We were far from home, but Inka's made our night in Syracuse feel like a delicious little destination of its own. Hope we can return one day!

I was the only returning patron, the others much enjoyed their first time here. Walking through the front door you're instantly hit with a wonderful smell of food cooking over an open fire. Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.

It's not uncommon for a new restaurant to impress the first time, only to fall short on subsequent visits. Touché, however, proves to be a welcome exception. Their continued commitment to quality, creativity, and classic French influences remains evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Several days before our reservation, I received a courteous text from the charming and attentive hostess, Bridgette, requesting details about the members of my dining party, including names and dietary restrictions. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by name and seated at a table adorned with a personalized name card--an unnecessary but thoughtful and memorable gesture that set the tone for the evening. I selected the very reasonably priced three‑course prix fixe menu ($70), while the rest of my party opted for the Steak Frites. My starter, a colossal scallop, was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. While the nettle purée could have used a touch more vibrancy, it still complemented the bright yuzu dressing well. The main course--a perfectly cooked half duck breast accompanied by roasted celeriac purée and a currant‑cassis jus--was a standout. The deep berry notes paired beautifully with the richly rendered duck fat. Although I typically gravitate toward savory dishes, the dessert was an impressive finale: a Sablé Breton with blood orange cream, thyme Chantilly, thyme jam, and a rocher of coffee ice cream. The combination of sweet, salty, and herbaceous elements was wonderfully balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. I was fortunate enough to try a few bites of the Steak Frites, which did not disappoint--nor did it for the other members of my party. Our meals were complemented by excellent cocktails from the well‑stocked bar. The bartender was knowledgeable, skilled, and engaging. The open‑concept kitchen is also a delight to observe, and I look forward to reserving a seat at the chef's table on my next visit. One of the ongoing challenges in the Syracuse dining scene, in my opinion, is a general lack of restraint. Touché distinguishes itself with its thoughtful menu design, technical precision, and appropriate portion sizes. We left feeling thoroughly attended to and perfectly satiated. I sincerely hope Touché continues its pursuit of excellence both in the kitchen and in the dining room. Syracuse needs restaurants of this caliber, and I eagerly anticipate their spring and summer menus.

The most incredible (and only) speakeasy in the Finger Lakes…read more After hours of driving, we knew we needed a cool spot to go to at night for some delicious wine. Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

As we turned the corner we saw a sign in front of A.T. Walley's for $5 burger and chips or 2 Hoffman Hots with chips. Well, the price was right! The guy was outside on the sidewalk grilling them and it smelled really good. So even though I was in the mood for wings, we decided to give the food here a try. We went in and got a table with no problem. Waitress said that along with the regular Wednesday night specials they also had $4 Beef on Weck for $4. We were really hungry so we ordered 2 Beef on Weck sandwiches and the hot dog special. It was amazing! The beef and au jus was fabulous! They each came with kettle chips and pickles. Yum!!!! And who does not love a Hoffman Hot, right?! Then we saw that they had 11 menu items for just $5 on Thursday nights from 4-10 pm. We had to be downtown again the next night so we went back! I got the grilled chicken Caesar Salad and he got the NYS Fair beef and Lamb Gyro. Once again, full portions for only $5! What a find!! We had always just gone there for drinks and music prior to this. They have a great bar selection and have $3 drinks on Monday nights....including their signature cocktails! It is a great place to go, have a drink, hang out with friends, listen to music on occasion and now I will be stopping in to check out more on their menu as well!
