I had an enjoyable dinner at the Aerie. I was slightly apprehensive given previous mixed reviews. The carrot appetizer was tasty but not so good that I would order it again. The wagyu osso buco was good, very tender, but the seasoning/flavor was not superlative. I enjoyed the mushroom bolognese tagliatelle the most (it was the most flavorful, and was filling). The coconut gelato was absolutely fantastic (creamy, rich, yet vegan), but I believe I had the same gelato at SeventyOne so it's not solely available at the Aerie. A friend had dinner at the Aerie the evening before and was disappointed in the mushroom appetizer, celery veloute, and sea bass (which she said was overcooked). So it's possible I enjoyed dinner also because my expectations were tempered. The ambiance is terrific with the tremendous windows and view Service was reasonably attentive, especially the sommelier Given the price/value alone I'd probably rate 3.5 but the ambiance bumps it to a 4 read more

Located on the top floor of The Cliff Lodge, the ambiance is gorgeous. I had extremely high hopes for my experience here and they fell flat both times we dined here. I had trouble with the elk meatball pasta. The balls were very tough and tasted gamey. The pasta wasn't thick pappardelle ribbons as noted on the menu, but rather thin like linguine. The $18+ dollar soups were anticlimactic (especially for the price) and needed more substance. The children's pasta was very salty and wasn't made with homemade pasta. The salmon entree looked beautiful on the plate however the fish was medium rare to rare and not as flaky as I hoped. The blue sauce had no actual flavor and was scant. The papaya salad was weird to say the least and tough. Possibly the worst plate of food had to have been the salad I've pictured, with some spotted radicchio. Super bitter and inedible. We sent it away and noticed the table next to us also complain about theirs. The other salad that we replaced it with was just okay and needed more elements. On a positive note, the staff were really friendly and polite and the complimentary bread with honey butter was delicious. My recommendation is to skip this restaurant and walk down to the Steak Pit. read more

First off, the Aerie is an absolutely breathtaking restaurant atop the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird. The views are unbelievable and the staff, from the host stand to the servers, were friendly and helpful. I was also very impressed to see the host/manager/sommelier running around serving food and drink and engaging with clientele. That always stands out to me as a well-run establishment! The food was a mixed bag, which is unfortunate for this price point of a restaurant ($150-200 for two if you're drinking). I started with the white bean soup, and my husband had the Caesar salad. The soup wasn't quite what I was expecting - it was more of a puréed bean soup atop a layer of oil and a mirepoix of vegetables. The sausage was andouille and it was supposed to contain kale, but mine was devoid of any discernible green. Overall, the soup was bland and needed both salt, pepper and could have been made better with some chili oil or another spice. The Caesar salad was also bland, with a weirdly thick dressing that also could use more flavor - and our head of lettuce was exceptionally bitter. The good - I ordered a gin fizz, and was immediately offered a Ramos gin fizz which is the ultimate upgrade! It was the first time I've been offered that outside of New Orleans. Both my gin fizz and my husbands gin sour were standard, solid cocktails (and major bonus points to the bartender for the extra effort of the ramos gin fizz!). For our entree, we split the lamb paparradelle. The lamb was exceptionally light and tender, but the pasta was a little over cooked and under salted (I'm not normally a salty person, but this meal did feel overall bland to me salt wise). I didn't care for the herbed ricotta, but I did otherwise enjoy the lamb and found it to be interesting and delicious. I could have had a few more vegetable (tomatoes and peas). The service and ambiance are worth the experience, but I doubt I would ever return here for a second meal. read more

Amazing views, bland burger. Five of us had just walked up from Snowbird's Oktoberfest and were looking for a nice dinner, as my friend had recommended the lounge section of the Aerie. Next time, I'll eat at Oktoberfest because this wasn't worth the time, money or headache. It just wasn't. Our first server behaved like a petulant child. His agitated state lent the impression that he was "stimulated", if you catch my drift... His mannerisms were off and he didn't want to engage, then he walked off from us mid-order after we said it was a split ticket order. Three out of five of us waited a good while for their beers & cocktails, and we didn't receive our waters until a new waiter came to our spot. (Our dark haired sulky waiter sat behind the bar) The new waiter was a tattooed older guy, I think his name was Clay? Anyways, he more than made up for the sulky prima donna, as this guy was very fast, engaging, and on the ball. The drinks were pretty good, and we were pleased with what they had to offer. The hamburgers smelled good, they had a lovely charbroiled aroma. Upon biting into mine, the texture was terrific, but we all agreed that the burgers were bland. The fries were nice and warm, but unfortunately they were majorly over-salted. (Zoom in to my photo -- the fries were literally coated in salt!) Anyways, we scraped off a lot of the salt & ate the burger and fries simultaneously in an attempt to offset their imbalances. We have been coming here for the past 8 years for our Wedding Anniversary. Our first time there , the food was exquisite! We loved it so much. The following year, it was a different menu, but we were able to find very good food. The following year, another changed menu. We started feeling let down with choices. Last year (2024) , it was just plain disappointing. It was okay food, but it didn't have the 'wow' factor. We're not coming back. It'll be a new menu, less satisfactory to us, I am sure. This is the restaurant where my husband proposed to me 32 years ago. It looks so different now. We like to come back every so often. Let's start with the service. Service was very attentive. Our water glasses were kept full, our plates were cleared quickly when we were done, and we were checked on to make sure we have everything we needed including extra bread. If I could base this review on service alone , it would be five stars easily. There was a special that night of a small plate of scallops with Mexican street corn. Scallops were cooked perfectly and the Mexican street corn had some heat to it. It was a lovely dish. Next, we were brought in an amuse-bouche of cauliflower soup. Subtly seasoned and quite nice. When our mains were brought out, there was a surprising difference. My lamb shank was meltingly tender and easily cut with a fork. We loved the cheddar polenta cake. The roasted tomato jam had a very subtle sweetness to it that was almost reminiscent of cranberry. The entire plate presented well and was absolutely wonderful. But the salmon. Oh dear. It was overcooked and it had a fishy taste . The bed of spinach upon which it rested was so overly salted that we could not eat it. Oversalted as in possibly someone forgot they salted it and salted again or too many cooks were attempting to salt it. The warm bacon vinaigrette was indiscernible. The risotto cake was the only redeeming quality and very good. I tried to get my husband to send it back, but he doesn't like to make a fuss. I told him it would be a service to the restaurant to know that this dish was not worth serving and could be done politely. Still he would not sent it back, not comment on it. He ate the salmon and risotto cake and left the spinach, then shared the lamb shank with me. We love the Pineapple, an upside down pineapple bread pudding with sweetened condensed milk and a pineapple chip that tasted like candy. The atmosphere is lovely as ever. Just when you think you've had the best steak ever, your mind is blown away when you dine at The Aerie. I had their wagyu steak. I asked for medium rare plus and it was perfection! It just melts in your mouth. I'm not a huge fan of meatloaf, but their elk meatloaf is DELICIOUS! I almost like it better than my steak! I said almost! However, this experience made me become a meatloaf lover. I may never eat another meatloaf like this again so it's a must that I come back here. Drinks and alcohol is a bit expensive but it's expected when you're in the fine dining environment. The views are amazing! Anywhere on the 10th floor is picture worthy including a swimming pool. I have to come back here again. Food is impeccable. Superb customer service. And of course, the views are beautiful. read more

Made reservations on SnowBird's web site and ended up being so late. My fault for thinking it was near the tram. Once I called they told me it was near the Cliff Lodge so had to get back in the car and hear further up the canyon. Parking wasn't the greatest, nor were the signs to get to the restaurant. Once there we were quickly seated and order was taken. Service was top notch, food was excellent to boot. The dining room was well lit and had some nice music playing in the background. This was my first time here, it's inside of Cliff Lodge where we are staying. First the view from the restaurant is just unreal, it's like a big painting. We sat at the bar because I've heard about happy hour but they no longer have happy hour, so we order bison burger and Brussels sprouts. Brussels were crispy and good but the burger was one of the best burger I've ever had I think, bison tend to be dry but it was not dry but juicy and the bun was delicious too and we got the side of truffle aioli and some green herb aioli, both were very good with the fries and burger! The views alone are worth trying this place. The restaurant has huge floor to ceiling windows that face the mountain peak. All the tables have a decent view of the mountains because of how they set up the seats and the movie theater style of levels of tables. I have been going her for at least 5 years after we go to Oktoberfest. The menu changes some every year but every year they do not disappoint. I'm a big steak eater, and they've always had the best steaks. They always cook it to my request, medium rare. For some cuts, they do tell you the chef recommendation, but of course, you can choose. The au gratin potatoes with my NY strip were so yummy. It is perfectly layered with cheese and bechamel sauce. The Asparagus was cooked perfectly and went well with the bernaise sauce. My brother in law ans sister in law got the braised lamb shank with the pasta. She devoured it. She said the lamb was juicy, and the pasta was al dente and seasoned so well, and she really enjoyed the garlic Rosemary cream. My brother in laws chicken was also very juicy and moist, you could see it as soon as he cut into it. The staff here is always amazing, and the manager always checks in to be sure you are well taken care of. Honestly, if you are at snowbird after 5 pm, do yourself a favor and eat here. We sat down in this absolutely stunning restaurant at 6pm, with the light still making its way off Snowbird mountain. That really would have been enough to make this a great experience but there was so much more. Chef sent out an amuse bouche of shrimp ceviche that foretold the meal that came next...complex but light, very tasty. But I legit asked if the Chef was married after the smoked trout cakes. (Apparently, he's not. But remember I saw him first!) In all seriousness, I think this meal was the most pleasure I've had in two years. I decided to stick with the trout theme and had the almond crusted trout with corn succotash and Beluga lentil cakes. I truly did not want to leave! I couldn't decide between 3 or 4 stars, so I'm going 4 because our server was great, and the chef gave us complimentary crostini's with goat cheese and pickled veggies, as well as complimentary carrots and celery with ranch for our kids. So nice. I think it's a 3 1/2 star establishment. The complimentary rolls are delicious, two offerings of sourdough and cheddar rolls. They were both excellent with the soft butter and olive oil. We started with the chilie dusted scallops and spicy tuna with fried rice. The scallops (only two but on the larger size), we perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and so good! The street corn that came with it was delicious, but it has a kick to it so be prepared. The spicy tuna needed more flavor, more spice, it was just okay. I ordered the Halibut, and it was over cooked and dry, so sad. It came with trumpet mushrooms, and they were so chewy and hard to eat. Weird. My husband ordered the elk meatloaf and it was amazing! All of us tried it and loved it! My two sons ordered the kids steak, and chicken fingers. Both were great, steak was cooked and seasoned well. The fries were delicious! Overall, not sure it's worth the trip up here just for the food, but if your staying at Snowbird, then yes, stop by and get the elk meatloaf and scallops. read more

Came here for dinner with some work colleagues and other industry peoples. It was a group of us, we made reservations for about 10 and when we arrived they had us at 2 separate small booth tables. We asked many times if we could get a long table set up but they just smiled and said they couldn't. There were other groups with long tables and there was plenty of room for our group but still wouldn't accommodate. The booth tables were very small and not the most comfy. We had to pull some chairs from other tables to join in and sit on the edges. Whatever, we just sucked it up and made the best of it. No one died. We started off with a few rounds of drinks then after a little while we ordered dinner. I was pretty hungry so I decided to get the Elk Meatloaf. It was actually very good, quite flavorful, nice loafy texture, came with smooth mashed potatoes and some sauteed kale and topped with some onion rings. Nicely presented and glad I ordered this. A few others at the table ordered the same and they enjoyed it as well. Pricing is pretty darn pricey but I get it, you are on a mountain, it's not like we are going to drive 30 mins into town. It's American Bistro fine dining vibe, but it's on the casual side because a lot of people are coming off the mountain and the crowd is a bunch of skiers & snowboarders. Service was ok, they seemed shorthanded, the server seemed a bit overwhelmed but did the best he could. We were a larger group, so I get that food would take a little longer to come out. But the entrees took a very long time to come out. The staff did notice it was a long time so they brought out some complimentary bread and some beet soup shooters to tie us over. They do coat check so if you want to check your puffy jacket, be sure to ask them and they will give you a number. Overall, it was ok, we usually come to Snowbird once a year for our work meeting, limited restaurant selections so this place did it's thing for us this year. read more

Amazing views, excellent dishes and presentation, and the best wine selection in Alta/Snowbird. Our server was very knowledgeable about both the food and wine. When asked, she also offered welcomed strong opinions about the selections. Fortunately, our party of four listened. Elk and house made sausage with mushroom gravy mashed potatoes and topped with onion rings was not something we planned on ordering. Our server convinced us and for very good reason. Someone in your party should order it. The gnocchi is a must appetizer. Sitting in a pool of roasted mushrooms and bousin cream it's a real Oooos and Ahhhhs dish. Came here for happy hour one afternoon and ordered a few drinks and appetizers to share. The drinks were pretty, but I couldn't even taste the alcohol in there. The appetizers were very small portions, and everything was very bland and had no flavor, the ingredients was also not of high-quality. The restaurant is nice, and has a beautiful view of the mountain, so I guess you're paying for that. Service was very sweet and attentive, we really liked our server. Wow is this place phenomenal - this was our night out meal after snowbird and while it's certainly very expensive, I felt it was worth it. No one had anything negative to say about anything we ate and for a small fee you can bring your own wine. We had a group of 9 which they can accommodate with a reservation. The standouts were the fried deviled eggs, the elk meatloaf, the lamb, the passion fruit panna cotta, and the trout cakes. The brussel sprouts are okay but not incredible and the filet is delicious but not superior to one in a good steakhouse. Pricey and probably not worth it for children, but if you want a nice meal and don't mind the cost, highly recommend. read more

Easter Brunch 2022 review: curious if The Aerie frequently or rarely puts on a brunch. It was definitely a miss. A sold out miss, so I would guess they are probably happy with that. At the beef tenderloin carving station, the meat available was over-cooked. When I asked for a medium rare piece I was told I needed to wait for another tenderloin to come out. I was seated about as far from the buffet as possible, so it wasn't to super convenient to swing on back by. I took an overcooked piece and asked where to find the au jus (it was advertised). I was told it would be coming soon. There was no horseradish sauce either. Hmmm Ok, I had my dry, overcooked tenderloin so I visited the sushi and shrimp section. No containers to hold a customer's wasabi and soy sauce, so I tried keeping it on the sashimi and the sushi rolls and strategically away from my tenderloin, fruit and shrimp. Back at my table, I find the sushi rice is undercooked. You can't hurry rice. My mom grabbed lox, cream cheese, capers, red onion and a bagel. The bagels were not pre-sliced - c'mon that's basic breakfast know-how! No knife was nearby, but a toaster was provided. An unsliced bagel doesn't fit in the toaster. Lox and cream cheese go with bagels. Should we go back to our table cut open the bagel and come back to the toaster? That makes no sense. I asked if a knife was available. I was told, no. I asked someone else for a knife and a regular dinner knife was provided. Mom sawed through the bagel at the buffet table and toasted it. It was not clear if the cold items were kept cold enough. The shrimp cocktail wasn't particularly cold. The deviled eggs, had been out WAAAY too long and the egg filling has turned dark orange and shiny. I don't know why the egg whites has been dyed dark green - it wasn't particularly appealing. I went back for tenderloin, got a medium rare piece and the au jus had arrived, and BONUS - there was even some prepared horseradish sauce. Bummer, I would soon find out that there was no taste of horseradish in the sauce. Honestly, I expected a higher level of care and prep when it came to a holiday buffet that required reservations. Make it easier on your patrons. Have you had sushi? Have you had tenderloin? Have you had lox and bagels? The highlight was the custom omelet station, but... I could've gone to almost any hotel or restaurant in the valley and gotten a great omelet for half the price we paid. The fruit was fresh, the strawberries were very red. Loved the pineapple. The trout was done beautifully, it actually looked like salmon! I skipped dessert because... it just looked so "straight out of a package." Our server, Caroline was great. We saw the GM make the rounds, but he didn't check in with tables, and we never saw him smile. The Easter Bunny visit to tables made us laugh. That was great. Even as grownups we took a photo with the bunny. The live music was a nice touch, but it had JUST started as we got ready to leave. Will we haul up the canyon to try again? I doubt it. The view was epic. The valet didn't charge us $20 for valet parking since we have a handicap tag. The coffee was strong, but there was something floating in the creamer, I picked it out and decided to go ahead and use it anyway. That sums it up. read more

While attending a meeting at the Cliff Lodge, my colleague and I dined at The Aerie for four consecutive evenings. While the facility has an impressive ambiance and daytime view, there are a few comments with sharing. The bar: the cocktails were impressive as was its own menu. You cannot, however, have the bar menu items ordered in the main dining room. The Lobster Roll looked interesting. Appetizers: the bison tartar was excellent, however the chilled lobster tail is to be avoided (two very small tails sliced and needed a great deal of effort needed to recover the small amount of meat). The foie gras crème brûlée was not available on consecutive nights. Soups and salad: the Roasted Tomato soup was average, however the Creamy Cauliflower soup was outstanding and the biggest menu surprise. The Aerie Caesar salad was quite good with a deconstructed approach - a light touch if you are without a robust appetite. Entrees: the Braised Lamb Shank was a hearty and well seasoned serving. The Roasted Scottish Salmon was above average (ask for the skin to be crisp). Warning: the Roasted Chicken Breast was a MAJOR disappointment - the most expensive entree at $55 and was a halved small chicken. I inquired before ordering why the high price point, and was told that it was an airline chicken presentation and because of the expensive manner it was raised (it must have attended Harvard). My anticipation of a flavorful meal was dashed, perhaps in part by sensing that I was scammed. Bread: the bread was exceptional, but is inconsistently served. I learned that sometimes it is served only by request. Definitely request this. Desserts: the Spiced Passion Fruit Salad with coconut sorbet was very good and a light finish, as was the Mineral Basin Honey ice cream. A final note: I would give this restaurant 3 or 3.5 stars, but I gave it four stars because we did have exceptional service. The server Adie was outstanding, being highly knowledgable and attentive - her service was on par with a higher end NYC establishment. I also need to mention that Sean was also highly commendable - although new to the Aerie, he was a pro dedicated to providing a great experience. We were really looking forward to an amazing night of wine pairing and upscale dishes for $200 per person, but I must warn everyone that this was absolutely NOT WORTH the price. I think the meal was one of the most disappointing I've ever had, even despite the high cost and acknowledging some price inflation for the restaurant being in a ski resort. To start, we were served dry shrimp rangoons that tasted they were stale left overs from the night before. The second course was a crab cake that was overall okay, but came out lukewarm and over seasoned. The most egregious thing of the whole night was that our elk steak course came to the table cold :(. This made me so sad because it was actually a well seasoned and great piece of meat, but was essentially inedible. Overall, it was an unacceptable quality of food to be serving for a place that is marketed so pretentiously. I have had better cafeteria food. The only redeeming quality was that we had lovely wines, hosted by Honig wines from Napa valley. And the atmosphere was great for a photo op. read more

LOVE!!!! I had a group of 8 for work attending dinner and all of us just loved it! The food, service and views!! Two of them had never been up in the mountains so lots of pictures from their dinner view was happening. Even those from Utah kept commenting they were coming back it was so cool!! I ordered the Kale & Tri-Color Salad and added salmon. Soooooooooo good! I'm seriously planning another trip up there because the salad w salmon was so good! Went today for mother's day brunch buffet. This was the worst buffet we've ever been too. To start there was basically no food, no clean plates when we got there. Even after inquiring to management, platters remained empty. The pancakes my daughters ate were raw. We would have been better off at McDonald's. I was a little wary of this place with the range of reviews, but we were so pleased with the steady service, nice dishes, top-notch ambiance and lovely views. We arrived for an early dinner for our birthday girl friend after a spa day on the roof. We had called for a reservation and they told us the menu would be limited until 4pm when the full dinner menu would begin. No problem for us - we would order some drinks and appetizers and then wait for dinner. However, when we arrived and I asked the waitress to just preview the dinner menu even though I knew we couldn't order from it yet, she got jumpy and a little irritated. We all ordered drinks and appetizers - my blackberry mojito mocktail (blackberries, mint, lime, simple syrup, soda water, fresh blackberry & mint leaves, $6) was generously comped because the kitchen was out of mint, and their substitute drink was delicious. The edamame appetizer ($7) was standard but a generous portion and cooked perfectly. The shishito peppers appetizer was so exciting! Blistered peppers with a sauce of white truffle hoisin, sweet chili aïoli ($10) and like a dinner Russian roulette you never knew which pepper was going to be normal and which was going to be searingly hot and have you running for your drink. My wild mushroom ravioli entree with roasted garlic alfredo sauce and roasted tomatoes ($23) was good but very rich. I wish there were a couple more vegetarian entrees but the only other option is a portobello mushroom sandwich. If you're a steak or seafood fan, it seems like the Aerie might appeal more to you. We also shared the salted caramel creme brulee for dessert and it was excellent. I saw one family with children there at this early hour and they have a kids' menu but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable bringing my own kids here during the dinner rush. The rest of our service was excellent. We had no issues with the split bill or a friend leaving early and needing her check first. The atmosphere is beautiful - romantic and quiet and with cliffside views of Snowbird. The restaurant was nearly empty and they seated us far away from all other parties and right next to the window (huge pet peeve when all tables are empty and they cram you next to another family). We loved our experience at Aerie and I would be pleased to return again especially for a romantic date. read more

As an update to my previous review. These guys really tried hard to make it right. They refunded the cost of the bad experience. Not many places will call you twice to see what they can do and nearly no restaurant will refund on this type of meal. Kudos to them. I will try eating here again as a result! read more

Snowbird's flagship restaurant and lounge, the newly-renovated Aerie is set up on the top floor of the Cliff Lodge. We went in the evening, so missed out on the beautiful views mentioned by others, but the food and atmosphere was good nonetheless. They've got small plates, soups, and salads, most ranging from $6-$15, sandwiches and sushi rolls from $13-$16, and entrees from $20 (pastas) to $35 (steak, duck). I ordered an elk cheese steak, with beehive promontory cheddar (yum!), wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, red peppers, and a generous side of crispy fries. The sandwich (pic: ) was neatly presented, with gooey cheese and filled enough with everything, but not too much that stuff was spilling out the sides while eating. Sitting at the bar, our server (and bar manager) Tim was excellent - well-versed on the menu, local beers, and specialty drinks. While scarfing down our food, we watched him interacting with other bar patrons and mixing up drinks ranging from rum & cokes to old-fashioneds with ease, always with a smile on his face. Prices are fair for what you're getting, but the chic, upscale atmosphere is what sets the Aerie apart from the other dining options on the Snowbird Resort property. If you're on a ski trip and looking for that "one nice dinner" while in the area, Aerie is your spot. read more

It was time to branch out for a Mother's Day celebration. A trip up Little Cottonwood Canyon was the order of the day. Our brunch took place at the Aerie Restaurant on the top floor of the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird. It was a like a miniature getaway to the Alps or a couple hours of staycation. Drop your car with the valet at the door and head to the elevator. When you arrive at the restaurant, be sure and get a window seat. The views of the ski resort are spectacular. There was a wonderful array of food offerings. One could dine on breakfast lunch or dinner items. You'll want to save room for the desserts. They were outstanding in both variety and quality. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient. We'll be back for another celebration. Salute! read more

I have been coming to the Snowbird for over 15 years, and have been staying at the Cliff every year I have visited. If you are a veteran of the Aerie, then you remember the amazing sushi this place used to have. The sushi at the Aerie used to be some of the best sushi I have ever had, and would easily earn 5 stars in my book. Unfortunately, the Sushi bar is no longer with us. The Aerie is now an American Bistro, with fine dining dishes such as Filet, Tuna Tar Tar, Trout, and seasonal dishes. The restaurant here is very large, so It really should never be an issue finding a table, but I would recommend making a reservation just incase, as it is one of the only restaurants in the area. The food here is good, with some dishes being better than others. The Tuna was extremely fresh, and has a great seasoning and light sauce. The Filet I had was cooked perfectly, and I was able to sub the potato flan with french fries which was nice. This is probably your best option in the area if you are looking to go out for dinner and get something nice. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars because compared to NYC American bistros this is fairly average for the price, but I decided to go with 4 because of how good the bread is that they serve when you sit down. read more
