Stopped in on a Saturday night with a party of five and were told there was a 45-minute wait regardless of table location. We decided to walk around for about 15 minutes and noticed the waiting area wasn't moving at all, despite the restaurant appearing to have roughly 50% of its tables sitting empty. When we asked the host about it, we were told they were dealing with a kitchen wait and intentionally spacing out seating. While I understand not wanting to overwhelm the kitchen, it was still disappointing to see so many empty tables while the quoted wait time never changed. To make matters worse, I tried twice to order a drink from the bar and was completely ignored by the bartender. The hostess was also quite rude when we politely asked why the wait wasn't moving. It's such a unique and fun concept with the airplane dining experience and ambiance, which makes it even more disappointing that the overall management and customer service seem to have declined. We ended up leaving and went to a nearby diner instead, where we had an excellent meal and a much better experience.

Our 17-year-old loves planes so, naturally, we had to indulge in this kitschy tourist spot and he thought it was cool. There was a 45-minute wait to dine in the plane (we were there early afternoon on a Saturday) but, honestly, after walking through it (which you can do while you wait on your food) I think dining in the larger restaurant part is better. We dined under one of the wings and loved the 50s music and vibe, the nostalgic aviation artifacts, and the jet sounds in the bathrooms. Even if you don't have to go, go wash your hands so you don't miss the bathroom jet sounds. Also, the honey-drizzled sweet potato fries - they're a must! Our service was prompt and there's ample parking behind the restaurant.

As others have previously said, the food is average but the experience is cool! I was surprised to see booth booster seats that worked great for my baby.

What a place to eat at! The entire restaurant is decked out aviation theme- wait room seats are airplane seats, little airplanes don the ceiling, airplane sconces, the staff is wearing pilot's uniforms and not to mention the huge airplane as the restaurant! If you dont want to wait longer to dine in the airplane, you can dine in the regular restaurant part, which has a huge airplane wing in it! Very cool decor (a little outdated and the wait are could use more lighting) Dining in the airplane was such a cool experience, especially because while you wait you can actually enter the cockpit! My sons loved getting to sit in a pilot's seat and tinker with all the switches and knobs! The food was absolutely amazing- it definitely exceeded my expectations. I ordered the baked spaghetti, which I was skeptical of but had to try. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. My husband said these were the best onion rings he has ever had. The service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely dine here again (if we visit this area again).

The Airplane Restaurant has been on my list to try for years and I was happy we finally had the opportunity. We were there for an early dinner on a Saturday and were able to be sat immediately. There was a line when we left so glad we arrived early. We were seated in the airplane which was a fun experience. Food was delicious and service was quick. Our party had the salmon, BBQ burger, and rueben. We all enjoyed our meals. I only wished the rueben had been grilled and not just toasted. Overall a fun experience!

It's rare for me to leave a one star review, but sadly this place fell short that much... Cool place because of the airplanes, but the food was SO bad. All our meals came out cold except the soup that was ordered with a steak yet there was still a $6 upcharge. The steak was ordered medium rare and as you can see in the photo it was well done. The server said "I put in medium rare." We're not saying you didn't, just that this isn't what was ordered (still tipped her $20%, but the service definitely wasn't anything to write home about). The person who prebussed our table was nice at least. Also even if the steak did arrive medium rare as ordered, $27 for a steak that looks like it came from a school cafeteria is unfortunate, you'd be better off eating at Texas Roadhouse. The $1 upcharge for kids fruit that comes from a can is also disappointing.. would be better off sticking with the fries. Also three drinks were ordered and all parties agreed there was maybe a splash of alcohol in them... you'd be better off ordering a beer. We won't be returning and if visitors mention it, we will recommend they go elsewhere unless they want to enjoy a beer at the bar and see the cool stuff inside.

Do you want to have an unique experience in Colorado Springs? I would suggest to visit the Airplane restaurant!! It is a KC97 taker! We went on vacation to Manitou Springs and we decided to have lunch in Colorado Springs, the restaurant is around 20 minutes away from Manitou. You will enjoy great food in a casual and friendly atmosphere. Enjoy! ‍

The Airplane Restaurant is a fun concept and the atmosphere is definitely the reason to visit. The aviation theme is unique and the food was generally good. That said, there were several issues with our visit. Both 16 oz NY strips were ordered medium rare but came out rare. We chose not to send them back, but they were noticeably undercooked from what we ordered. Service was disappointing. Our server, Savannah, was slow, not particularly friendly, and interactions felt very transactional. When I asked whether the restaurant offered a military discount, the response was a very abrupt "We don't offer any discounts for anything." The answer itself is fine, but the delivery made me feel like I shouldn't have asked. The biggest frustration was the billing. We were charged $1.10 for extra dressing and $1.00 for extra whipped cream, but those charges were never mentioned when we ordered. I don't necessarily object to restaurants charging for extras, but I do think customers should be told about additional costs before they're added to the bill. Overall: great aviation atmosphere, decent food, but service and pricing transparency left a lot to be desired.

The restaurant is a step back in time. Gives a VFW/diner vibe but has a surprisingly diverse menu. The staff are dress in theme. Food didn't take long. Everything we had were top notch as always. We bring every visitor for the nostalgia and the food.

Unfortunately, our experience fell way below our expectations. Was extremely excited about the concept, but atmosphere felt dirty/dusty, menu overpriced, and contracted food poisoning. I have no doubt the food poisoning came from my meal because within minutes of leaving I was throwing up. I'll spare everyone from further details. I do think the restaurant had potential but as of right now that is not the case.

I love the airplane decor. There was so much too see that you normally don't get to see close up. The service was top notch. Our server was quick to get our order and friendly as well. The food was cooked perfectly and the shrimp and bison burger was awesome.

First of all, we had dinner. In a PLANE. It's a 1953 prop job made into a restaurant. Part of the left wing is in the building. Lots of memorabilia and the place is HUGE. Bar, pool table, fireplace, outdoor seating. We luckily got to sit in the plane. Everyone was so nice, from the hostess to our server Savannah. Staff is dressed as pilots and thank you for "flying" with them. The food (typical bar food) is surprisingly good. We had hot wings, the Philly sandwich and the special fried seafood platter. All super good. We'll be back, and this time we won't have to sit in the plane.

Our server Kinsley was amazing. She was really attentive and friendly. She overheard me mention it was cold in the plane so she turned the heat up a degree or 2. I'm not sure if the airplane has insulation or not but it was below freezing when we ate there last night. The food was good and fast. The prices were fair and so was portion size. The place is full of memorabilia to look at while waiting on food. My daughter was only interested in playing in the cockpit. When you go into the airplane, they give you the whole story behind it as well. We don't live in the springs but if I'm ever back, I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again

I'd say it's a 3 star experience overall, but the high cost of the food bumps it down to a 2 for me. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was decent. The restaurant felt clean enough, though it was a bit cold inside because they had the door wide open. On the food side, the birria tacos my wife ordered were definitely the best part of the meal, and I really enjoyed the refried beans inside my burrito. I ordered the California burrito with Al Pastor ($14). The amount of meat felt really skimpy, and honestly, I couldn't even tell it was Al Pastor, it just tasted like regular asada. The fries inside were cold and clearly weren't fresh. The salsa bar had a decent selection, but the salsas themselves were just "mid" and nothing spectacular. My wife also tried the birria ramen ($17), which was a major letdown. It was basically just packaged Top Ramen noodles thrown into the consomé. It was a very weird dish and felt incredibly low quality for the price tag. Between the skimpy portions, cold ingredients, and instant noodle ramen, it just felt overpriced for what we got. I really don't see myself going back again.

If you're sitting at the bar you can see the window where your food comes up -- our salad and fries both sat there about ten minutes before anyone brought them the ten feet over to us. Not a huge deal, but it's a little cruddy sitting there thinking "I'm pretty sure that's ours" and waiting. The ambiance is very dark, with a lot of stairs up and down -- you head into sort of a basement-type area. Everything I saw was clean and nice. It's a cool, funky spot to take a date or hit for happy hour, so the vibe and ambiance are definitely spot on for that. Signature cocktails -- all fine. Not the best thing ever, but solid. I'd have them again. Side salad -- good. The ranch is made in house and very flavorful, and the salad was actually loaded with veggies. French fries with garlic aioli -- a bit of a letdown. We didn't even finish them. They came out okay, just a little dry, and the aioli itself wasn't very good -- we didn't really like it. Pro tip: The entrées looked pricey, which is why we stuck to snacking at the bar -- and after the fries came out, we were fine calling it there and eating elsewhere. Overall, would recommend for happy hour, and would return.
