First the parking: they have a large parking lot and should be easy to find a space. Since there were 14 of us, we made reservations by phone. We were asked if we wanted separate checks and told that because of the size, we wouldn't be able to sit inside the airplane, so I appreciated the transparency. When we arrived, the host set up the table with menus and pointed out where our table was. I kind of wished he walked us over because I ended up shepherding our group. Our server was Amanda, and she was very pleasant and professional. She took our drink orders and later followed by taking our food orders. She quickly brought our drinks and then our sides of salad/soup and appetizers. Our meals came in batches, which is fine because otherwise, the cooked food would get cold, but there was a gap, so several got their meals as others were finishing up. Amanda was great about communication; for example, she came to ask if we need anything else since she had a little time before the rest of the food came out, so she brought refills and whatever additions everyone needed. I ordered the Atlantic salmon entree and upgraded to French onion soup for an extra $1.50. It was possibly the best French onion soup I've ever had; it had a sweet taste and not overly salted at all. The cheese was very generous, and I ate all of it. I asked that my salmon be cooked medium rare. I'd say it was probably more medium/medium well, but that's okay. It's very difficult to get it right. The mashed potatoes were yummy, again not overly salted, and it also came with steamed broccoli, which I didn't realize because I would probably get double broccoli in the future for health reasons. I tried someone else's onion rings, and I thought they were great. At least you can taste the onions! We did have a mishap with a steak being difficult to cut, so I think it got removed from the bill without it being asked. I've gone to several restaurants where the manager would come out and try to convince you that there's nothing wrong, so I really appreciated that our friend was taken care of. Another friend ordered a burger, and there was still pink in the hamburger meat, which actually is a positive thing because even when we've requested at other restaurants, it still comes out well done. I walked upstairs to the airplane seating portion, and it looks like there are only booths that fit up to 4 each. There were small airplanes everywhere, and it actually looks like a museum with a reading panel next to an airplane part. In the women's restroom, marked as Flygirl, there is a sensor that plays the sound of an airplane taking off. Bathroom needed a little attention, which I did report. In all, I would recommend and return. The food was pretty good, and the service was great. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday night with a party of five and were told there was a 45-minute wait regardless of table location. We decided to walk around for about 15 minutes and noticed the waiting area wasn't moving at all, despite the restaurant appearing to have roughly 50% of its tables sitting empty. When we asked the host about it, we were told they were dealing with a kitchen wait and intentionally spacing out seating. While I understand not wanting to overwhelm the kitchen, it was still disappointing to see so many empty tables while the quoted wait time never changed. To make matters worse, I tried twice to order a drink from the bar and was completely ignored by the bartender. The hostess was also quite rude when we politely asked why the wait wasn't moving. It's such a unique and fun concept with the airplane dining experience and ambiance, which makes it even more disappointing that the overall management and customer service seem to have declined. Our 17-year-old loves planes so, naturally, we had to indulge in this kitschy tourist spot and he thought it was cool. There was a 45-minute wait to dine in the plane (we were there early afternoon on a Saturday) but, honestly, after walking through it (which you can do while you wait on your food) I think dining in the larger restaurant part is better. We dined under one of the wings and loved the 50s music and vibe, the nostalgic aviation artifacts, and the jet sounds in the bathrooms. Even if you don't have to go, go wash your hands so you don't miss the bathroom jet sounds. Also, the honey-drizzled sweet potato fries - they're a must! What a place to eat at! The entire restaurant is decked out aviation theme- wait room seats are airplane seats, little airplanes don the ceiling, airplane sconces, the staff is wearing pilot's uniforms and not to mention the huge airplane as the restaurant! If you dont want to wait longer to dine in the airplane, you can dine in the regular restaurant part, which has a huge airplane wing in it! Very cool decor (a little outdated and the wait are could use more lighting) Dining in the airplane was such a cool experience, especially because while you wait you can actually enter the cockpit! My sons loved getting to sit in a pilot's seat and tinker with all the switches and knobs! The food was absolutely amazing- it definitely exceeded my expectations. I ordered the baked spaghetti, which I was skeptical of but had to try. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. My husband said these were the best onion rings he has ever had. It's rare for me to leave a one star review, but sadly this place fell short that much... Cool place because of the airplanes, but the food was SO bad. All our meals came out cold except the soup that was ordered with a steak yet there was still a $6 upcharge. The steak was ordered medium rare and as you can see in the photo it was well done. The server said "I put in medium rare." We're not saying you didn't, just that this isn't what was ordered (still tipped her $20%, but the service definitely wasn't anything to write home about). The person who prebussed our table was nice at least. Also even if the steak did arrive medium rare as ordered, $27 for a steak that looks like it came from a school cafeteria is unfortunate, you'd be better off eating at Texas Roadhouse. The $1 upcharge for kids fruit that comes from a can is also disappointing.. would be better off sticking with the fries. Also three drinks were ordered and all parties agreed there was maybe a splash of alcohol in them... you'd be better off ordering a beer. We won't be returning and if visitors mention it, we will recommend they go elsewhere unless they want to enjoy a beer at the bar and see the cool stuff inside. read more

The Airplane Restaurant is a fun concept and the atmosphere is definitely the reason to visit. The aviation theme is unique and the food was generally good. That said, there were several issues with our visit. Both 16 oz NY strips were ordered medium rare but came out rare. We chose not to send them back, but they were noticeably undercooked from what we ordered. Service was disappointing. Our server, Savannah, was slow, not particularly friendly, and interactions felt very transactional. When I asked whether the restaurant offered a military discount, the response was a very abrupt "We don't offer any discounts for anything." The answer itself is fine, but the delivery made me feel like I shouldn't have asked. The biggest frustration was the billing. We were charged $1.10 for extra dressing and $1.00 for extra whipped cream, but those charges were never mentioned when we ordered. I don't necessarily object to restaurants charging for extras, but I do think customers should be told about additional costs before they're added to the bill. Overall: great aviation atmosphere, decent food, but service and pricing transparency left a lot to be desired. read more

My hubby and I came last week. He had wanted to come here for a while so we could get a seat, hopefully in the airplane, and we did! It was New Years Eve, but we went around the lunch hour. Not too crowded, but since the airplane has seating really close to each other, there is a bit of noise, but it's all good, that's just the way it is! We were not just greeted and seated, we were given some information about the plane and the restaurant, so that was really great! I gave 4 stars for my first visit before Covid so it's been awhile but the food was great. My son had ribs, my sister, the salmon and whatever I had it must have been really good. It was fun being in the airplane but I had made reservations for it so I suggest you do that. The second time was maybe 5 years ago. I was on vacation with my girlfriend and bragged how great and fun it was and was totally disappointed. The menu had changed, no ribs, no fish. The service wasn't very good. It felt totally different. The food was nothing to brag about. I hope it's gotten better because it's a neat place to go, especially for visitors. If I get to Colo. First of all, we had dinner. In a PLANE. It's a 1953 prop job made into a restaurant. Part of the left wing is in the building. Lots of memorabilia and the place is HUGE. Bar, pool table, fireplace, outdoor seating. We luckily got to sit in the plane. Everyone was so nice, from the hostess to our server Savannah. Staff is dressed as pilots and thank you for "flying" with them. The food (typical bar food) is surprisingly good. We had hot wings, the Philly sandwich and the special fried seafood platter. Our server Kinsley was amazing. She was really attentive and friendly. She overheard me mention it was cold in the plane so she turned the heat up a degree or 2. I'm not sure if the airplane has insulation or not but it was below freezing when we ate there last night. The food was good and fast. The prices were fair and so was portion size. The place is full of memorabilia to look at while waiting on food. My daughter was only interested in playing in the cockpit. This was an excellent experience. The theme is based around a retired airplane. The servers are "flight attendants" and you can even eat in the fuselage of the plane. I took my 3 year old, and he was absolutely fascinated. While we waited for our food, I took him to the cockpit where he was able to sit in the pilot seat, flip some switches and move the "stick". Unfortunately for him, his feet couldn't reach the pedals for the rudders, but he was tickled nonetheless. We got some good pictures. The food and service were both solid. Some of the servers were really into their characters which was cool. In the airplane seating area, the tables were maps of different geographical locations, and the manager had fun checking on the tables and "quizzing" the patrons. Overall, this is a good outing. We went for lunch and I saw quite a few families dining. It also shares a parking lot with a hotel, so that could contribute to the type of clientele. I saw another comment stating that they were reminded of a VFW, and I absolutely agree. The restaurant seating could very well be a VFW. This place is an experience. A literal airplane attached to a building and you can eat in the plane. It's an old refueler and you can visit the cockpit and see the back after you order. The food is average, burgers, sandwiches, salads and fried foods. Nothing to write home about, but solid. The staff is friendly and can tell you storied about the history of the restaurant. We got stuck in a blizzard and stayed at the Marriott by Colorado Springs Airport. We decided to try out the Airplane restaurant. It was great. It was like a museum. Lots of history. The menu had a lot of options. I had their famous pasta. Lots of meat in it. The portion was huge so I took it to work the next day. There are lots of areas to hang out besides the airplane seating. They have a bar and pool (like a sports bar). Managers were nice and so was the staff. I would come back with Family when they come into town. read more
