Let me start by saying Megan was a wonderful hostess. We sat on the patio with our two dogs, and she immediately brought them bowls of water. She was also very attentive, and recommended the wonderful French toast I had. Speaking of that, the banana bread French toast is nothing short of amazing. The cinnamon glaze and pecans accentuated the wonderful banana bread. I would order it again in a heartbeat. My wife and son also enjoyed their meals. He got the regular French Toast and she got the breakfast with pancakes. One important note: the "small" pancakes are larger than most places large pancakes. The waitress we had was the friendliest and happiest I've ever had. The food was amazing and was large portions. I had the banana bread French toast and I couldn't even finish it. Stopped in on a snowy Friday for breakfast. Uncle Sam's is kitchen and quaint. The white staff and servers are also nice and accommodating. We had breakfast, which is served all day. Lunch is served after 10:00 p.m. We ordered the cowboy eggs benedict and the large biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs. It all came out hot and fresh. Given the fact that we were starving. We ate every last bit. If it had been kind of a normal day for us, we would have had food left over, the plates were so large. Beautiful old building. Felt like we were stepping back in time to a diner in a mountain town. The staff were so friendly and took good care of us. Food was great! We've driven by this place numerous times and never gave them the chance, why? Food was delicious and the service was really quite good. We went on a Saturday morning. My brother lives very close to here, so we walked over to check it out after seeing it had good reviews. The menu has a decent selection of standard breakfast items and lunch sandwiches. We came Saturday morning and were able to be seated within 20 minutes. The issues came after that...we both got water and ordered immediately upon sitting down. I asked for a straw and she said she'd be back. We proceeded to not be checked on nor receive any food for over 40 minutes. I am a server, so I get it to an extent. But this was unacceptable. Finally after 40 minutes I asked where our food was (and for a straw) and we had to wait another 10 minutes or so. The food was okay, at best. I honestly think my wait made it even more anticlimactic. Overall, I don't think I would come back ever again, there are way better options in the area. read more

We came here for some food after exploring Garden of the Gods. It wasn't very far and we were pleasantly surprised it was not crowded (since the park was super crowded!). The decor is kitschy americana and the vibe is small town diner - I loved both. We ordered eggs and pancakes, and everything was so delicious. I built my own omelette and it was perfectly made. They make their own syrup in house, and it's not overly sweet. I wish they sold it! The super kind waitress gave me a few ounce sized to-go containers to take some home. They also make their own cinnamon butter. Yum! We loved our food. Pancakes run rampant on the breakfast menu in the best way - I was even able to get one with my omelette (instead of toast) and they sell single pancakes too! My new favorite Colorado breakfast place. Biscuits with gravy, perfectly cooked bacon, delicious omelet, and raisin bread French toast with homemade cinnamon butter... I honestly hate leaving reviews like this but it was truly our worst experience thus far. We checked in and were told about a 20 minute wait. We waited for 45 minutes. We were seated and we ordered within 3 minutes because we were so hungry and wanted our food asap. There was a fan blowing in our area that made it so cold and it was such a strong and loud fan that it made it uncomfortable. After 35 minutes of waiting for our food, without being checked on once or told anything about the wait for our food, I finally flagged down a lady to ask for an update letting her know we were approaching 40 minutes. It seemed as though our server was on a break since we hadn't seen her, and she didn't check on anyone else sitting in her section. The lady we asked for an update never came back and even avoided us. I had to flag her down again and she said she'd check. She came back saying it was getting plated right now. At this point it had been 47 minutes of waiting for the food but alas, it arrived. When our food arrived, we could not believe we waited 47 minutes for what we received. We thought about just leaving but our 1.5 yo daughter was so hungry. After about 20 minutes of waiting, we started to think maybe it's because we're brown. We could not think of any other reason why our server never updated us or thanked us for our patience or anything. The table that got seated behind us about 15 minutes after us, received their food right after us. The service was completely unacceptable. The price for what we received was ridiculous and the food was not that good. We had one coffee and one strawberry lemonade on top of our food order and it cost us $50. Sad to say we will never go back, especially since it was recommended. I rated it 1 star because it won't let me post without a star. read more
