Upon pulling into the parking lot, new to the area and visiting on recommendation, I asked for the lobby by a staff member and was giving polite but clear directions. Albeit an American style breakfast, meats and eggs, pancakes and fruit, there's something for everyone. It was a clear day, a wonderful view. Service was brief, but we required little. Potatoes were so cold I couldn't even eat it. Coffees disgusting no matter how much sugar or cream I put in it. Water come dirty. Who ever makes the omelet didn't make it well. There were two servers one seem to do her job well. The other seem to be irritable if you ask her for anything. I came here because of the reviews, only thing I like is the view. We were looking to order dessert and some coffee the perfect ending to our day. I ordered creme brûlée and my friend ordered cheesecake. After about 15 minutes the waiter comes back to tell me that they have not creme brûlée. He continues to explain the he failed to read the outs board and he was unaware. I did not order dessert but when my friends arrived it had 2 slices of cheesecake. Both slices were warm like they has sat in a warmer window too long. We were there (like i mentioned) for a bachelorette party therefore drinks are a must... but were never offered an additonal drink besides the first one. Our friends had been here before and loved it so invited us along, we were so worried after reading Yelp reviews but trip advisor was much more positive, so we went with the flow and was pleasantly surprised. We booked a table for 11am on Sunday, didn't need to because there was plenty of tables but it soon started filling up. It's $45 plus tax, all you can eat buffet and all you can drink mimosas. The service, the food, it was all great. Not to mention the amazing view. There was so much food to choose from and the staff quick to refill the mimosas especially when it was quieter. Also quick with the coffee. Cute little honey pot that comes with the tea. We had - not necessarily in this order - prawns/shrimp, clams, prime rib, chicken, salmon, trout, risotto, vegetables, waffles, omelette, cheeses, salads, soup, ice cream, granola, fruit, blinces (never had before, it was like a cheesecake wrapped in a crepe!! Must have with the strawberry sauce) the waffles and omelettes are made to order, prime rib is cut to size as you ask for it. During our stay at the Cheyenne Mountain resort for a business retreat we ate in the MVR for several breakfasts and a couple of dinners. Breakfast was buffet style and was very good. They had an omelette station and the chef was turning out large omelette a with fresh ingredients and he also did waffles, not sure about pancakes. There were also lots of bacon and sausages as well as home fries and plenty of muffins, pastries and a full yogurt and fruit section. Not sure how much this costs but it was very well done. We also did dinner buffet style and these were good. The veggie lasagna was memorable and everything else was pretty good. The staff were very nice and professional. Where to start... the woman at the front asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but the restaurant was empty. She informed us, with an attitude and after a long unnecessary explanation, that it'd be a 15 minute wait. Totally fine. 40 minutes later she called our name. We were sat by the large windows with a fantastic view. This was the only good part of the whole meal. Our waitress informed me my beer was coming soon when she dropped off my wife's wine - she had to run over to Elevations to get it. She didn't return until our food was served. I informed her I didn't get my beer and she apologized and said she'd have it right out and it'd be no charge. The food was not good, especially for the price. Perhaps the lighting was so dark you couldn't see your food for a reason. My wife's chicken was underdone. My salmon was just ok. Our waitress never returned after we asked for a side of ranch for our kid's chicken tenders. When a different waitress dropped off our check, my beer was still on it and we had to remind her to take it off. Pretty disappointing overall. I'd look elsewhere. read more

The chips on the nachos were stale - but the cheese sauce was great. The fries were cold. The bun on the burger was stale but the burger patty was nice. The brightest spot of the meal was the meatball appetizer. Pro tip - get the sauces on the side and make a pink sauce out of the marinara and the Alfredo sauce. The dining area is huge and you can eat on the outdoor patio to get the most of the view offered. I was here last year to eat with my soon to be finance and we both loved it. We came here because we saw the gorgeous view of the mountains on Yelp. That is the only good thing about this restaurant. Our dinner started off with a 15 minute wait for two cocktails that we ordered. Then, I got the elk bolognese, which tasted like "sloppy joe", according to my date. There was a puddle of what I assumed was pasta water at the bottom of my pasta. My date got the mushroom ravioli and the spinach on top tasted so bitter, she couldn't eat it anymore. I've never not finished my entree before, but today I left three quarters of my food. We decided to take another chance on dessert and order the Apple pie. Big mistake. The apple pie was not even warm and tasted like mush. We've had such a good time here in Colorado Springs, and this was the worst way to end our trip. Spend $120 somewhere else. read more

Really disappointed in the Mountain View. We made reservations for Saturday night (15 Dec). Apparently, they're only doing a buffet on weekend nights during one of the busiest times of the year -- no menu was available. The buffet was serviceable enough. Not great; not bad either. Fortunately, all of the staff was wonderful. Two things really ticked me off about this night: 1. They mixed in regular diners with a Lockheed Martin Christmas party. Really super awkward. There wasn't another room available or a section of the dining area which could have been reserved??? 2. The bill for the buffet and two drinks was over $150?! Which is ridiculous considering half of the buffet is just really simple dishes made to look fancy. Moreover, the preparation wasn't that great. There was a gnocchi dish for example which was dripping in cream sauce the consistency of paper machie. The only reason it moved at all was the sauce broke and the butter was separating from the cream. So... nice service. Thank-you for that. But Applebee's food at Broadmoor prices in a really uncomfortable setting. read more

Spending the weekend here to get away from the hustle & bustle of Denver. Since it was roughly after 7 pm & didnt feel like driving around the Springs area the Mountain view Restaurant was convenient. The restaurant had an ala carte menu & also a buffet for $45/per person. The buffet selection was ok. Only on Friday nights do they have seafood & prime rib. They amount of food & the selection...i can see paying $25 to $28 a person not $45. The service last night was not good at all. Dinner service was not busy & the waiter appeared to be either new or high. It took roughly 20 minutes to get our drinks & my partner received the wrong soup. It was just mistake after mistake. A nice waitress came by (Cori) and we ask that she be our waitress for the remainder of the night as she corrected and apologized for the errors & even took off some items for us. This morning we had their breakfast buffet at $18/per person. This buffet consists of an omelet & waffles station. Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, hash browns, fruit, oatmeal, bakery goods. Would have liked to see lox & bagels but all they had was bagels and cream cheese. The price wasnt too bad. The views are nice..it snowed this weekend but still a great view of Cheyenne Mountain. Not sure that we will be eating here for the rest of our stay. We will see. If we do, they need to step up their service. Thats all. read more

We enjoyed our time there at Christmas and Valentines dinner buffet. The price range is $45 -$60 per person not including tax and gratuity. I think it's good for the price for us. We spend pretty much the same at the red lobster and we are a big seafood fan. So, it's worth for us. Seafood were fresh, smoked salmon was yummy with the capers, fresh tomatoes and the onion, my favorite . Meats were fresh, warm, juicy and tasty. Salads, desserts, and the complimentary champagne or wine also included so, no complaints here. There might have some little things but hey, nobody can't make you completely satisfied all the time but the view, environment, the food, and the price was all make your time enjoyable. We had a very large party (16+) and the consensus was the same from the entire group....it was ok. A few things that will help you forget that the food is subpar and overpriced.... 1. Google "sunset times for Colorado Springs" & make reservations that will lend to a sunset view 2. request a table that does not FACE the sunsetting windows (I couldn't see the people sitting across from me for at least 20 minutes while the beautiful sun was glaring in my face) 3. I ordered the steak and frites, and while the steak was seasoned really well and the fries were delicious, the steak was overdone a bit. I ordered medium, and it was well. So sorry, but today's Thanksgiving experience was less than satisfactory. Debby the hostess worked very hard but the rest of the team let her down. 1) the table we booked for 12 in the main dining room was being delayed by the previous guests. Debby worked very hard to seat our group of 11 in a satisfactory alternative still giving us a view of the beautiful scenery. That is where the good serviced ended. You must realize that this was a $60/person buffet meal. 2) Our waitress could hardly bother to wait on us. Buffet plates didn't get cleared unless we piled them up at the end of the table. 3)Drinks were not refilled until we flagged her down. Water glasses remained unfilled, refresh of the mimosa glasses and most importantly my very small soda glass. When I say flag down, I mean stand up walk over to the waitress group gathered at the cash register and ASK for a refill. You must understand that with a large group such as ours the tip gets automatically added onto the bill. I would of given this young woman a zero tip, because she barely did the bare minimum taking care of us. It would of been different if I saw her running off her feet taking care of several tables but that just was not the case. 4) Then comes the meal presentation, remember my family and i have had many lovely thanksgiving meals there previously. There were none of the beautiful fruit carvings decorating the buffets. While many different options were provided there was NOT a turkey carving station, which I think is kinda of important at a thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was cut and stacked in a roaster with a Spoon as a serving utensil. Who spoons out their turkey? The green bean vegetable was raw, cut green beans with a cold mushroom soup, yuck. The dressing was dry, the gravy cold. The cheese and meats were at one setup, but crackers to go with it were at another station. It seems like there was no executive chef there to give the staff directions, or make the really fancy touches that make this a very special meal. 5) There was a grand player piano in the lobby which was lovely, but about 1/2 way thru our meal someone cranked up the volume making easy conversation more difficult. I am sure there were many folks who individually worked on preparing this meal and they did a good job. I might not of written or complained quite so much if my waitress had just given quality service, the first to clear our dirty plates and the second to keep our glasses filled. After all it was a buffet what else did she have to do? Just goes to show teamwork through out is what makes a good experience. The Eggdrop soup was good, but that was all that was good about this restaurant. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad. It came with no chicken. It took so long for the waiter to bring the chicken out I was just about through eating. The waiter asked if I wanted him to "just throw it on the salad ". The salad was pretty average, nothing special. My husband's ribeye steak was totally inedible. It was all gristle and fat. They did take it off of the check but my husband went without dinner. Lunch is a great time to visit and enjoy the gorgeous mountain views. The food and service are also excellent. However, we were really disappointed in Christmas dinner. It's a buffet as well, with somewhat limited options, and most of the food was disappointing. The decor is beautiful and very well decorated for the season, but it just lacks a festive atmosphere.
