The wife and I have visited the Alamo a few times now and will definitely be adding this restaurant to our regular list of visited restaurants in the area. Service is great. Very friendly and attentive. Food is outstanding. Last time we were there they had live music which was really good. Management there appears to be very involved with all of the processes and professional. I have read some of the reviews and find some of those not spot on. When reading the reviews of any restaurants in a vacation area always keep in mind the area of the country its in and the fact that most, not all vacationers come across as entitled and can be very rude. I only know this because we live in two areas of the country where there is a very large and strong vacation season. Take it from a local here and def put the Alamo on your list of places to eat. Came here with my mom before a concert at BankNH pavilion and I would say it was solidly ok. Our server was very nice and did a good job taking care of us, however the entire place seems a bit understaffed and they seemed overwhelmed even with the restaurant being less than half full. Our drinks took a very long time to arrive, and the appetizers took even longer. I thought the drinks were very good and were a good size, and the honey cornbread was yummy. The tater tots were pretty good too, but I wouldn't say the portion size lived up to the $18 price tag. If you look at the menu online, it is a much larger serving, so be warned! Overall, I don't know if I would come back. We were lucky to not be in a rush, but if we didn't have so much time before the convert, the wait alone would've stressed us out, not to mention the expensive tater tots. read more

Stopped here for a drink and a bite to eat before attending a concert at Bank NH Pavilion. Unfortunately, the roof deck and the outdoor seating areas were closed, so we were limited to the indoor seating area. We were seated promptly and our server was great, but everything took a lonnnnnggg time and the food was pretty average. I don't think it was our server's fault that things were slow, it seemed to me more of a bar and kitchen issue. Our server was attentive and kept apologizing that things were taking so long. We ordered house margaritas, which were nice and strong, but my glass wasn't full, and the sugar that we had both requested was weird - it was a combination of sweet and salty. We put in our drink and food orders at the same time. Our drinks took approx 25 minutes to arrive, and food arrived about 15 minutes later. That's a long time for two drinks, one appetizer, and a side of corn bread. We ordered loaded tots, which were ok, but the portion size was small for the $18 price tag. The cornbread was good and the portion size was appropriate for the price. We enjoyed the live music - the performer had a great repertoire and was really enjoyable to listen to. All in all, our visit to the Alamo was just kind of average. We probably would have enjoyed it more had the outdoor areas been open. Might go back, might not.... read more

I had the brisket sandwich. It was fabulous. It came with peppers and onions and cheese and was better than any steak and cheese I have ever had. I will definitely come back. Service was very slow but understandable as there was a little crowd and when we ordered drinks the first was a drink off the menu(Paloma) and got a lemonade so I sent it back to get the Paloma again and got a Tito's sprite the server said she'd only comp one drink and by that time no one was there and service was very slow and she then said sorry the drinks suck with no care about it. The Alamo Texas BBQ & Tequila Bar opened their second location in the former 70 North building in Weirs Beach. Their other location is on NH 13 in Brookline and they have nearby sister restaurants, The Dox Winnipesaukee and The Dox Winnisquam. The space offers a full service bar area with seating and table seating in the indoor dining room. There is also outdoor patio seating. The menu offerings are primarily BBQ fare including meat platters, sides, mac & cheese, sandwiches, spuds, salads, chili, donuts, and kids meals. The bar offers draft & bottled beers, wine, spirits snd cocktails. The pricing is moderate high. I've stopped at their Brookline location a few years ago and decided to try out the new location while we spent the day in the Lakes Region. The place was moderately busy on a Monday evening and we were seated in the dining room and given menus and ice waters. We placed our food order and the food arrived 20 minutes later. There were four BBQ sauces at the table including House, Carolina, St. Louis, & Ghost Pepper. The Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16 plus tax) had tender soft pork in a sweet bbq topped with cole slaw on a soft bun, served with two pieces of sweet cornbread. The Burnt Ends Mac & Cheese ($23 plus tax) was a generous portion of dense cheesy cavatappi pasta topped with tender sweet bbq burnt ends (some fat & some lean pieces). The food was pretty good, but we needed boxes for the leftovers. The check with Toast QR code was presented which was $42.32 with tax and before tip. Overall, a pretty good meal in a very noisy restaurant and friendly service. I will mention the mac & cheese on this visit was much better and more flavorful than the mac & cheese I had 4 years ago in Brookline. Good evening, My husband and I just got two meals from your restaurant for takout. One meal was brisket with two sides and another meal was brisket and sausage with two sides. I normally would not contact anyone in the event it was a bad experience however, the food we received was way less than par. The brisket was so oversalted and dry its absolutely unbearable to eat. I am extremely disappointed and would like some type of compensation for such an inconvenience especially at this price point. The brisket was inedible and was thrown out. While no reservations were available, they did offer a call ahead. We had about a 30-minute wait when we arrived, so I'm not sure if the call ahead saved us any time. This was my first visit here since this building changed over to The Alamo a barbecue restaurant, a welcome addition to the restaurant scene here in the Lakes Region. It's a pretty large restaurant with seating in several rooms and also at the bar. The restaurant was comfortably loud with good table spacing. I was impressed by the menu as there are a nice selection of appetizers, entrees and combination plates along with a great drink list, including many types of tequila. We enjoyed the reasonably priced well-made house margaritas, then split a combination plate including pulled pork and brisket. The "Pick 2" included a selection of barbecue choices and included two sides with many choices. The service was friendly and prompt. The barbecue was tasty if slightly dry but was enhanced with four types of barbecue sauces that are available and all quite tasty. All and all a nice meal. read more

It was so nice to have a restaurant back at this great location near the Laconia drive in. It was also great to get a BBQ joint that actually smokes their own meats locally. We go back almost 15 years to a seafood restaurant, and then Italian for 6-7 years and then empty for 2-3 years so we were excited to try this place. They've been open a month and we sat inside although there was plenty of outdoor seating. I think they need some help not only with table location but with noise decorating. Needs some soft surfaces to absorb the noises. Patrons were nudging up against each other while the waitresses, trying their best, would navigate between the oddest table configuration I've ever seen. A little ambiance help here would go a long way. The food was excellent. 4 of the 5 diners raved about their food; burnt ends for one, dual BBQ for two others including brisket and chicken. Brisket was both moist and tender, chicken had a great crisp skin but was also very moist and flavorful. Even the chicken wings were excellent so great place for real BBQ. Only one snafu with blacken shrimp tacos. Shrimp was white as a ghost and the taco was essentially shrimp on cole slaw. Far from our expectation. Drinks were good. I had a couple of manhattans which were good but the bartender admitted his second day on the job so don't stress him too much. Beer was local New England beer which was good. We will go back in a month or so and see how they've progressed. Definitely worth a try. It would be great if this place succeeds. Wanted to love this place as it has a ton of options for tequila. Ordered two margaritas, both were not great. one was to have a black salt rim, didn't. The other was just kime juice and tequila. The bbq, tasty for sure but the fat on the burnt ends wasn't even tender a bit. The meat was also tough. Strange to say that about burnt ends. Wonder how the brisket is. Food was excellent - burnt ends and pulled chicken combo, jalapeño cornbread, waffle fries, collard greens - all outstanding. I loved the Carolina sauce, husband liked the ghost pepper sauce. Let's start with the good. The cornbread with jalapena was excellent. The server was very friendly and attentive. Not so great. Drove there especially for the burnt ends. They use brisket. About 60% was what I enjoy as it comes from the point cut of the brisket. The other 40% was dry and chewy so I believe that came from the flat cut. We got seated and ordered drinks that took about 10 minutes to arrive. Ordered food, they were out of ribs so that option was out. We waited, and waited and waited for food. On top of that our waitress could not be found to order more drinks. We tried the margaritas but they were terrible, I think they forgot the tequila, so we went to beer. 45 minutes later still no food and again we had to go find a waitress to order more drinks and check on our food. Finally at 1 hour our food arrived We LOVE BBQ and this was definitely disappointing. Brisket was not very flavorful at all, burnt ends were so dry they had to be washed down with beer. Honestly the cornbread was the best part of the meal. We were not the only unhappy customers there tonight, others around us were experiencing the same poor food & service that we did. Not sure if this place will make it in this location where so many others have failed, but this was a one and done for these 4 locals checking out a new place in town. Thank God 70 North is gone. The Alamo brought real food back to Laconia. Wouldn't be surprised if this place doesn't have a 2 hour wait every weekend. For just being open for a week this restaurant does laps around restaurants like Whiskey Tavern .
