    Sweet Hot Wings

A little late in posting this. Had to check this place our prior to a concert at the Pavilion. Always a fan of local dive bars and this place did not disappoint! Scored a couple of seats at the bar, grabbed a couple of brews and ordered their BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger with fries and an order of their Sweet Heat wings. Monster burger patty cooked to order (medium rare), tangy BBQ sauce, crisp bacon and melty chedda...really hit the spot. Fries were hot, crispy out, soft in. Nice. Wings were cooked perfectly with just a bit of a sweet kick. Not overly sauced ( a couple of wings are missing...fast hands!!). Great stop if you're in the area for a show or coming off the lake. Plenty of parking as well as outdoor seating where they regularly have entertainment. Bikers welcome!!

I love a good bar. This is definitely the town's watering hole. We got a fabulous welcome from the bartender and locals. Only 4 tables and the rest of chairs at the bar. Decor is humorous and to the point. Bathroom is male/female and very clean. Tater tots had cheese and bacon and are on point. We ordered jalapeño slices and came with your choice of dressing which I picked ranch. Some of those jalapeños had some kick. If you're in the area and want a short stop with fabulous locals and a quick drink I highly recommend coming here.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT Hell yes.   OUR PURCHASE -603 Seltzer drafts, 4, $5 each -Wings (8) with half Buffalo & half Sweet Heat, $11.50 -Side salads, 2, $4 each -Shots, 4 (which will remain nameless for reasons you'll understand when you visit there), $6 each = $63.50 pretax Salads were solid, especially for $4. Shots were a blast. Wings were okay.   THE SUMMARY Fun vibe. Excellent service. Fun drinks. Okay food.   THE DETAILS We tried this place based on Yelp reviews and proximity to our hotel. Did not disappoint.   We were greeted instantly, and we ultimately stayed far longer than anticipated because it was just outright fun.   As per Yelp reviews, service wasn't initially speedy but was exceptional. Amy was exceedingly friendly, and her personality made it perfectly okay that she couldn't take our orders immediately. She was the solo bartender & server inside (& she did some outside as well).   We sat inside at the last available table. Décor was simple and comfortable and funny. Raunchy but perfect for the vibe. Not a big place. Outdoor seating seemed much more expansive and had live music.   Did I mention that Amy is adorable? She's a gem. I've never met her before, but she makes me want to be a regular. It's impossible to compliment her enough. We felt very comfortable and part of the collective. Didn't feel judged as another review mentioned. (Loved that review, btw. Very helpful..) Had to leave but wished we could have e stayed all night.   WOULD RECOMMEND? Yes. And we can't wait to go back.

We recently spent the day in the Lake Winnipesaukee area, and needed to find a lunch spot. We decided to trust our fellow Yelpers and headed to the Looney Bin. The place is small and it was packed with locals and those that have summer homes in the area. We sat at the bar and struck up a conversation with another couple. They live in MA but own a restaurant nearby, so we felt confident the Looney Bin was a smart choice. Anna (?) was working as the bartender and server. We were impressed with her ability to manage everyone at the bar and the seating areas both inside and outside. She was awesome! Michelle, the owner, was also present helping out and talking with the customers. Its awesome to have the owner on sight and hear her story of becoming involved with the restaurant business. The selection of local craft beers is impressive. The various postings on the wall and shot selection gave us something to read and kept us occupied as we waited for our food. We shared a half portion of chicken nachos and a cup of chili. The food was freshly made, hot and delicious. This is an excellent and well run local business that we will certainly visit again when in the Lake Winnipesaukee area.

great selection of provocative signs on the walls of this fun place - some of them you don't want to explain to your 9 year old.

Despite the sign out front, the food was very good and the beer was cold. The Looney Bin is a good place to stop for a wide selection of beer, surprisingly good casual food and attentive service. Not exactly a family place but they did not seem to mind serving our family.

It has its charm, but they could really use some fresh paint and some updating, and if they redid the booths, they could certainly fit in way more tables and you'd think make more money. The first day, my omelette was OK, though I have to say I prefer George's Diner next door. But the coffee was hot and the coffee cake muffin that was grilled was phenomenal! We came back the next day because of that muffin. Our second experience was not good at all, and the reason we did not go back again, despite being there for 13 days. Service was absolutely horrible! When we walked in, there were few tables seated. We ordered sunny side up eggs with potatoes (fruit for me) and a coffee cake muffin. It took 25 minutes to get it, and made us late for work. They do not turn over tables quickly here. It's a diner folks, and if you can't get eggs out quickly, how do you make money? It's back to George's for us. I have to say this really pissed us off. They tried to say it was a full restaurant, but when we came in, it was not. We ordered something very simple. My dining partner tips 20 bucks on breakfast, and had done so the day before, so though a different server, you think she'd be aware he's a very good tipper and it's a good idea to take care of him. Of 13 days there, we ate next-door at George's 11. The coffee cake muffin here is good, but when you're on a time crunch and have somewhere to be, choose somewhere else.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in the door was that Christmas smacked us in the face with the best smelling Christmas Tree candle , burning in a super cute entryway. I could hardly wait to get inside to see what else this place had in store. First, there was a fireplace and a couch and a table. In the rest of the dining area, we're all high tops. Not so high that a barely over 5 foot person such as myself couldn't sit comfortably. Our waitstaff (there were two) and were great about offering menu suggestions when I shared flavor profiles I might be looking for and they were attentive and so pleasant. They had super cute Christmas decorations, and were putting up more while we were there. The vibe is super warm and welcoming, and for a short while you feel like you stepped back in time. The tiramisu martini was delicious, as was the blood orange martini. I had the cauliflower with juju sauce at the recommendation of the waitress, and it was honestly the best cauliflower I've ever had! My husband enjoyed his macaroni and cheese with buffalo and bleu as well. The owner/chef, Leslie, came and chatted with us for a little bit before we were on our way. We learned that in the summer they hold concerts, and they have a golf course. There is a distillery on site as well. Everything about this place was excellent, and we are already planning a day date to go back and try more menu items!

It's nice that they can accommodate parties of 2 so easily. There were several large groups, primarily families so it's certainly kid-friendly. They serve up some of the BEST fries! On our first visit, I had the Beet and Feta Salad with Grilled Salmon. It was fantastic, and one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. The salad was extremely fresh, with greens from local farmers. It was the best lettuce I've ever had, and when I tried to find out what kind it was, I wish told it was spring mix. It didn't look like any spring mix I've ever had, but it was such sweet, delicious and crunchy lettuce. The beets were also great, with both red and golden varieties. The salmon was cooked absolutely perfect. My dining partner got the Duck Confit Tacos. He did not care for that for a number of different reasons. In the first place, it should've been served on a different type of plate, as it was very messy and most of it was falling off the very narrow plate. He doesn't like a lot of mess. It likely would have been better had they left all the toppings off, to add them as you want them. There was way too much on top of the duck, which buried the taste. It was impossible to pick up, and very difficult to eat with a knife and fork. Plus they added too much cheese, and he doesn't like cheese much. It was not a dish he would order again. On our next visit, I had the Seafood Linguine. It came packed with fresh seafood with lots of mussels. It was a very generous portion, with plenty to take home for another meal. My partner had the grilled burger, which he quickly devoured. He said that was one great burger! On our next visit, we stopped in for a late lunch. It was a dreary, rainy day, and the weather was on the cool side. So we opted for soup. My partner got the Clam Chowder and I opted for the French Onion. They both hit the spot. My partner loved that burger so much, he ordered it again. I opted for a Grilled Veggie Sandwich, which was not as good as my salad choice a few nights earlier, but it was OK. All in all, we enjoyed all three of our visits here. I'd be happy to return again when in the area.
