Nicely redone. The former Bayberry Inn has lost all of its former colonial stuffiness and been replaced with an understated upscale tavern named The Arlington. Most of the reviews here have it right. Imaginative menu, fresh ingredients and solid food quality. The bar is a nice casual option and they have live acoustic music on the weekends. Highs include an awesome cocktail list relying on small batch bourbons and fizzy sweet drinks for the ladies. Beer selection towers above anything else on the island. Staff is friendly and knowledgable (if somewhat rushed) and entree choices make it difficult to make a decision. Lows are few but on Sunday night they ran out of Oysters, Corn Chowder and Red Fish but apparently that was driven by higher than expected sales over the weekend. They really need to throw down some carpet and install some soft fixtures or fabric panels to absorb the noise from the bar, dining area and kitchen. It sounds like a high school cafeteria when it's full. Otherwise an entirely pleasant experience. We'll be back. read more

I've been to The Arlington three times, most recently last night. The first two times, once in 2016 and once in 2017, the food was amazing and the service impeccable. In fact, I kept meaning to write a review because it deserved four or five stars. Last night that all changed. It was a Tuesday night in mid June so yes, it's not exactly prime time in-season, but based on our previous experiences there and the continued good reviews, we were so looking forward to another wonderful meal and top-notch service. Although we had made a reservation just to be safe, our party of six stood waiting at the hostess desk for five minutes before anyone even noticed us. Eventually we were greeted by a server who, after asking us to give her a minute, called to us from the dining room to come on in. She dropped the menus in the table and without a word, walked away. Over five minutes later she returned with water and said, "We also have clam chowder tonight." I asked, "No specials?" to which she replied "Nope," and walked away. I was flabbergasted by her curtness. We felt like we were an imposition. We waited ten minutes for her or someone to take our drink order but no one did. We felt like our patronage was unwelcome and inconvenient and we were not prepared to spend a considerable sum to be treated as such. Our group got up and walked out. We passed our server as we left and she did not say a word. If she was on her own that day -- no hostess and no other servers -- I understand her frustration, but that is no reason to be so abrupt with customers who have nothing to do with the situation. If she was having a bad day or was overwhelmed by a lack of staffing, I commiserate with her as we have all been in those situations, but we were not to blame for her unhappiness and should not have been made to feel we were. I don't know if we'll ever be back. I was thrilled to be returning for dinner last night but now I'm not sure I want to be reminded of our experience. I cannot judge the food this time so the one star represents the service of last night only. read more

Excellent pork chop was had by my carnivorous friend. Chill and rustic ambience with a sweet server. Budino was legit. Skip the fettuccine ( I got sans bacon - perhaps the extra saltiness would have made the difference). Would definitely come again if in town. read more

A 10 out of 10 for LBI restaurants. Open all year, lime and spiced rum drink 10/10, appetizer shrimp and grits 10/10, pork chop 10/10 - best on the island, dessert 10/10 - apple crisp with ice cream. Nice place located off the main street. The ambiance is low-key with a vintage feel. The presentation was nice. We had two waiters. One waiter did not card us before we ordered drinks. After we had received our drinks, another person at the table ordered one more drink, and the waiter came back and asked "who gave you that?" and then asked to see our IDs. I thought that was bizarre. As for the food, I had the blackened chicken wings with chipotle sauce. These were hot and very tasty. They are bit more oily than I expected. I had the Malibu Bay Breeze cocktail (part of the happy hour). These were very good. read more

The Arlington is my favorite bar in Ship Bottom! They have an amazing revolving selection of Craft Beer. They also have a fantastic happy hour! The food is always excellent, as is the service! This is a must stop if you're in Ship Bottom!! read more

Craft beer selection is always fantastic. And great top shelf liquors. Handful of TVs in the bar area just enough to keep your attention and not over powering. Never had any food myself but always smells and looks great. Lil pricey but it's LBI. It's not a blue color neighborhood bar. read more

Dress code seemed mixed, from dressed up resort wear to sneakers and shorts. Awesome drink menu, barrel aged Manhattan (need I say more). Seafood was fresh and perfect with a good variety. The short rib by far was the best SR I have ever had. All the fat was rendered to perfection. Seemed like a nice place. Decided to go around closing for take out. We were immediately greeted by a woman with short blonde hair who asked if she could "help" us. She stated rather firmly and without really listening to what we needed "we're closed," this was in response to us simply asking for a menu. We circled back to the front of the establishment where a young lady with brown hair kindly took our order. The food was okay. I had the chicken with a side of broccoli rabe. The broccoli rabe was the star! Check out the restaurant if you get a chance but decide who you want to give your money to. People who say they are closed when there is a packed restaurant? Great beers and great food. The pretzel was great with the mustard. The wings were honestly some of the best I've ever had. And the chipotle ranch... it's ridiculous. This is hands down our favorite restaurant on LBI. Everything they do is excellent. Let's start with the cocktails...their barrel aged manhattans are probably some of the best...not just for LBI but anywhere. This restaurant could easily be in Brooklyn or manhattan, some people might not want that on the island...but sometimes you really just want good drinks and food...not just fried seafood, which there is a lot of on LBI. We come here every time we are on the island. I've had almost everything on the menu...there is definitely an Asian theme going on but they do it right. The bartenders are also super friendly...grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the full menu with some great drinks! read more

Hit and miss. Just enjoyed the short rib and the duck. Soup was good. Crab cake was awful - 50% filler (diner-ish)? A little disappointing; I make crab cakes a few times every month, jumbo, no filler, never disappoints. And nothing but a very small portion of fennel slaw accompanied them. Absolutely horrible experience. Service was horrible. Wait times for appetizers and entrees on a very slow night were unacceptable. Food was sub par especially considering the cost. Taste was more like something in a TV dinner. Definitely do not recommend this place and will not be returning. I feel compelled to write a review for The Arlington because, frankly, I don't think I've ever felt so grossly ripped off. My husband and I arrived for a beer event. We were really excited for the tap list. And equally excited after looking over the menu earlier in the day that touted "creative bar food." Listened to the specials, browsed the menu, and ordered. The husband got the rigatoni app, which would've been excellent, except that it was literally about a fifth of a box of rigatoni with a glop of ricotta. I had the kale and brussel sprout Caesar. It, too, would've been good if they bothered to massage the kale, and maybe had more than the one brussel sprout that was cut up throughout. The mussels were the shining star of the meal. On to entrees - I got the tuna special with pineapple fried rice. Oh, how it had seemed so good when I ordered it. The piece tuna was overcooked and TINY, not to mention being served on top of a puny serving of rice. It was clear that the kitchen was running low on food and was trying to stretch it. My dish was super underwhelming, both in taste and portion. My husband got the shortribs. Good, but not great, and also small. The table next to us had ordered the same thing before we arrived, and theirs was much bigger. Our server just plain didn't want to be there. We are polite patrons, repeatedly thanking her, and she routinely walked away, ignoring us. Yeah, I get it was busy that night, but we weren't some drunk idiots there for beer. We dine out frequently and have expectations when it comes to food quality and pricing. We typically know what we're getting into at every establishment, and The Arlington was so disappointing. Oh, now the good part, our bill. The previously mentioned rigatoni app was $13. Yep, $13 for enough rigatoni to probably count on two hands. Come on, pasta is NOT an expensive ingredient, and the dish sure wasn't setting the world on fire. The tuna was just under $40. Probably about a 1/4 lb piece at most (current market value is around $23/lb) with a 1/4 cup of rice to accompany it. And it wasn't even GOOD. What a bummer. We had high expectations of this place, of returning with our family, and it failed miserably. In closing, go for the beer (if you must), but eat elsewhere. read more

we had a reservation for 7:15 and showed up a few minutes early to be told we had to wait a half hour to 4o minutes to be seated. The host first told my wife that they don't take reservations until we heard another party come up to his table and claim theirs. Then he pivoted and said that he didn't have our reservations down at all. Sorry, but that is really not acceptable. Won't be back for the near future. read more

Had a wonderful dinner on Easter night knowing that options on lbi might be limited they exceeded our expectations.

Food is kind of different and not a wide selection compared to other restaurants on the island. Great place for large groups and families.

Cocktails are delicious and unique. Menu is limited and quality of food not as great as it used to be. Our server was excellent.

Best craft beer selection on LBI and the barrel aged manhattans are top notch. Haven't had the food in awhile so I cannot comment on that but I am sure it is great. They make their own bread which is pretty awesome. read more

The bar is great with a huge selection of beverages and televisions on all sides of the bar. However, then dinner came. Do not order the Lobster Roll. It was definitely not worth the price when it came to the portion that you receive. My girlfriend order the short rib entree which was pretty good. Our waitress did not give us adequate service and the restaurant was no where near busy. We will only be going for drinks here in the future. read more

Five of us ate dinner at the Arlington last night. We had reservations and were seated inside. The tables were spaced a good distance apart. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. We had wings for appetizer and they were delicious. For dinner we had skirt steak, crab cakes and salmon. All the meals were very good and presented nicely. The only suggestion I have is that for the price of the meals, the portions could be a little larger. The crab cake plate looked like an appetizer. All in all, a nice dinner. read more

Service was great. The lobster bisque was very good although there was no meat in it. For my dinner i had the crab cake but i did not enjoy it that much because it tasted very dry. My dad had the rack of lamb and he loved it but it was expensive. My brother ordered the double cheeseburger after reading yelp reviews and they were right, it was excellent! Steam clams were excellent as well. Amy, our server, and the rest of the staff were very nice! We will definitely be back. read more
