The food was excellent. The pork chop was perfectly cooked with a nice crust and a little bite from the andouille stuffing and the hot sauce glaze. Our other guests raved about the skirt steak. The only miss was a cold sweet potato. Still, all the plates were empty by the time we were done. It's a shame the outdoor tables weren't being used for dining, because the indoor dining room is quite noisy and it is hard to even hear across the table at times. There were only two servers and two runners, and an unexpected rush of diners had arrived, but they were doing a great job given the circumstance. If you have food allergies or celiac beware!!!! You cannot trust their menu. I have celiac disease. Last night we went with friends to the Arlington specifically to eat at the bar from the bar menu because they offer specific gluten free items that are noted with a gluten free symbol. I always check ahead that there is something for me to eat. I have also been there before and have had the wings because it is stated on the menu, with a symbol, that the wings are gluten free. They had explained that the wings were baked and I never had a problem eating there before. When we arrived the bar was full, but the restaurant was empty. I asked if I could have the gluten-free wings in the dining room with the dining room menu. The manager came out and said I could not have them in the dining room and that the wings are, in fact, not gluten-free. We showed her the bar menu which shows a wheat symbol next to the wings which means they are gluten-free. She just looked at me and looked at the menu and says...well, technically they are gluten-free, but when we cook them we fry them with everything else so then they're not gluten-free! (This is obviously a new practice, maybe for the summer season, and if it is they should amend their menu as to not affect people with wheat allergies.) So after we sat there with our mouths open... not believing what this "general manager" just said, I explained to her that all the proteins on their menu were Gluten free until they were cooked with flour or fried, etc. She had no answer to that, but repeated again and was very argumentative that the reason the wheat sign could be there next to the wings was that TECHNICALLY they were gluten free. She obviously did not understand her own menu or the food offerings and how they are prepared and how they will affect people with food allergies. I gave up trying to educate this person to avoid further conflict so I could enjoy an evening with friends. Nonetheless to say, I will not be going back there. I have eaten at this restaurant many times. It's a little noisy but I have always enjoyed the food - and the service has always been good. We have had the same female server every time we have been there! This review is strictly about the service we received last night. It took over 2 1/2 hours to eat! There was a long wait for everything. The drinks came slowly, the appetizers came slowly and the entree came even slower! At the end of the meal we asked to see a dessert menu but the server took so long to get back to us that we decided to leave without it. Food delays are the kitchen's fault. The fact that the server never came back for our dessert order is something else. The restaurant was either understaffed or the server got her priorities mixed up. Sorry to experience this and I hope it is not an indication of something bad happening here. I have seen really good restaurants start to decline and not recover. Upon arrival, we requested a seat near one of the fireplaces and were happily accommodated by Amy. Others have commented about Amy's friendliness and attentiveness and we couldn't agree more. Beyond exceptional service! For the meal, my wife and I both ordered the falafel pita wrap with a side of asparagus in exchange for the standard French fries. The falafel was shaped like Italian sausage between a folded over pita. It was delicious with a very flavorful sauce with a nice spicy/ citrusy flavor. We have been here a few times and very much enjoy our dinners. We started with Oysters on Half shell and the white bean soup which Chorizo sausage both great starter. The entrees choices where a pork chop grilled with a sweet Demi glaze it was so very tender and the Swordfish which was outstanding. We will be regular diners here. read more

Sat at bar alone which was dirty and barmaid/waitress arrived with a head wrap and I asked if she could clean the bar. She basically ignored me and frisbeed a menu through the slop on the bar to run and talk to ,I assume, 'regulars'. Never returned. Finally a bartender showed and wiped the bar after I asked again - do they not do this regularly after guests leave??? He was pleasant though after he delivered my salad then my meal showed up by a runner who frisbeed that at me and ran away before I could ask for new utensils....ok so I used the old. No one ever picked up the salad plate so when I finished my meal I placed it on top of my salad plate. Then who shows up but the frisbee barmaid/waitress from the start and asked 'are you done with these?' Really??? I said 'yes' and she rolled her eyes at the other bartenders as she walked away. I guess her headband is too tight or she is just not cut out for the business. What a disgrace of a service person and the food was mediocre at best. Not sure this place is worth it but always try places again as I have been on this island 65 years. Too bad this woman had an attitude as that changed the perspective of the entire place. Had two great experiences at the Arlington on a recent trip to LBI. They have a great selection of beers and lots of interesting choices for appetizers. We loved the pretzels - they're big enough to share and come with a delicious spicy mustard. The heirloom tomato app and oysters were great as well. For dinner, I had the swordfish one night and the halibut another night - both were fantastic. Prices are on par with the rest of LBI; expensive (and this is coming from JC/NYC!) but worth it for the food, service, and ambiance. read more

Spent over 1000 dollars on dinner last night with a large party. Disgraceful cross contamination in the kitchen... my boyfriend had a severe peanut allergic reaction although dishes ordered had no nuts. Called the next day to let them know what happened- nothing suggested to rectify the issue besides "will ask the waitress who served you last night and get back to you". Loved it here!!! The Arlington doubles as a casual spot for a night out but can be a fine dining experience. Went here on Memorial Day weekend with a party of 7 and we were easily accommodated. The waitress was so friendly, helpful and offered great service. She was so eager to help us find other places to go on the Island and recommended lots of local places to try, as it was our first time on Long Beach Island. The drink selection is vast and excellent. They have a lot of beers on tap, including local and craft beers, and they offer tasting flights. The food menu is concise but all the options are very different from each other so there is something for everyone. And it's delicious! Every single member of our party was happy with their entree order and all the appetizers were great. I had the Braised Shortribs and a side of Mexican Street Corn. Couldn't get enough of either ! Brought visiting friends in to try a few beer flights. The first bartender appeared to be new - very nervous, but he was also very nice. We ordered beer by number and learned too late that there were 2 #18s on the menu. When I brought it to the second bartender's attention, she replied "Yeah, we know." I then asked, since she did not offer, if we could replace the #18 we didn't want with the #18 we did want. She removed our glasses and replaced the beer without saying another word. There was no apology, no "oops", nothing. My one friend who happens to be a brewer at one of the larger breweries on the menu (which was why we stopped there) was completely turned off and didn't want to stay for another flight. It is a beach town and even though u can strive to be an excellent restaurant you don't have to do this. The food just isn't that good doesn't justify them. To spend $200 for a family is a bit crazy. For the area of the island, this is absolutely a top of the line restaurant. I've been here a couple of times at this point and have been impressed each time. To start - they take reservations which is always appreciated in the summer months. The space inside is nice. Sort of has a 'lodge' feel, not sure if that's intentional, but its pleasant nonetheless. The menu is pretty typical, but has something for everyone. There's tuna, swordfish, lobster rolls, burgers, duck, steak, etc. so its safe to say anyone in your party can find something enjoyable. My last visit we had the duck, lobster roll and swordfish. The duck was phenomenal. I will say it was a tad more done than I prefer, but it didn't have the dried out taste it sometimes has, and the fat was well rendered. The lobster roll, which I got to try, was also quite good, with big chunks of lobster and not too much mayonnaise. I didn't get a chance to try the swordfish, but I heard good things. In a past visit I had the pork belly appetizer and the tuna. The pork belly was good, not great, but the tuna was delicious. Not sure if that particular iteration is still on the menu as this was over a year ago, but there is some similar dish that I am sure is also good. Two added bonuses are the drinks and desserts. The beer selection is top of the line. They also do 'tap takeovers' every once in a while where a particular brewery will feature a bunch of their drafts. I had the privilege of attended a dogfish head takeover last year and it was a great experience. You can get a flight and sample a few beers if you don't want to stick to just one. Also the desserts are great - would absolutely recommend the chocolate chip banana nut bread with ice cream - top notch. Overall a great place. Prices are on the higher end, but not outrageous. read more

Waitress cheerfully greeted us immediately with water and drink order. Ordered two delicious appetizers, chix and waffles and shrimp and grits. Both very well done and very tasty. Entrees were salmon, pork chop and burger. Now the not so good as I have to agree with some other posts. Portions were small and didn't come with a side salad or bread. Making the portion smaller was the pork chop that was more fat than lean. Good flavor but some left a little hungry. Prices are what one can expect on LBI, 50/50 on a future return visit. read more
