We stopped in since it was close by to where we parked after my niece's volleyball tournament on a Sunday around lunch time. Was glad it wasn't packed so we were seated right away. Server was very nice and attentive. For lunch we probably didn't want to pay much as we did and the food was a hit or a miss. My sister ordered the smoked carnitas nachos, it had great topping on it but wasn't enough as the nachos were very dry to the pallet. My niece ordered the tuna tataki crispy rice, she seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the AB cheeseburger, it was quit delicious. The server was nice enough to sub french fries for their loaded smashed potatoes which was full of flavors. They do offer HH Mon-Fri from 2-5 pm only at the bar. They should have HH on the weekends to attract more customers as it was pretty empty on a Sunday. read more

Solid place for some legit comfort food. We ordered the meat loaf, chicken, and jambalaya. All were delicious and full of flavor. Service was good but it did take the food a while to get served. Good amount of seating. Make sure to pick the correct parking lot for validation as we had a problem with the validation and ended up not getting validated which was annoying and expensive due to it being downtown. read more

Arrogant Butcher downtown I feel like is a staple now. It's the same as it's always been, which is mostly good. Plenty of tables, clean environment, and consistently good food. The overall experience and service isn't anything special and the food, while good, isn't worth going out of your way for. If you're downtown already (such as for an event), this is a great place to go where you're sure to get a good meal. read more

Went last night with a friend for appetizers and food was really good. We ordered Brussels sprouts that were cooked to perfection , chicken eggrolls that were yummy. The sauce was off putting because it looked like marinara but it tasted sweet. The fries were just ok. I thought they would taste better but they weren't terribly bad. We only drank water , but service was great. Our waitress was great! The restaurant had an outside patio that was double sided and it was lovely outside. Will definitely be back. read more

They have a smallish menu, but everything is incredibly prepared. Neat atmosphere and very friendly staff. Great location if you're going to be at the convention center or the arena. It's a popular spot so you can expect a wait if it's a busy downtown event night. read more

Went to this fine establishment to enjoy a Meal with my brother and was not entirely disappointed. The burger while a little on the pricy side ($23) was cooked to order. However, the bun was cold and the burger was quite salty. The service was quick and waiter was honestly quite attentive. Though he did not mention I would be up charged for my macaroni side when he showed me "other side options" or that we would be up charged for a specific old fashion drink. Wow! This space is gorgeous. Everyone was extremely friendly & attentive. We started with a bottle of wine (delicious!). Next, the nachos which honestly was the star of the show for me! They were incredible. For an entree , we got a blackened chicken Caesar salad ( 100000/10 the chicken was so good!!) & the prime rib French dip with a salad. I seriously can't wait to come Back. We made a reservation before a concert and the first thing that stood out was ambiance. My MIL said it was the cleanest bathroom she had ever seen. Lol! Now, the food and service were both top notch. I had the pacific sea bass and my family ordered the prime dip sandwich and crispy chicken. My fish was so tender and cooked perfectly. I don't like olives and the server let me sub extra artichokes! My mom's crispy chicken was by far the best dish. So lemony and delicious and a good portion! The server was knowledgeable and very attentive. I would definitely come back! It's a vibe! This place has a great ambiance. A good blend of a lively atmosphere while also being intimate enough for a date night. We had the brussels and squash salad and the prime rib French dip sandwich. The prime rib was excellent. Bread was soft and chewy and the meat was well seasoned. Happy hour at Arrogant is a good one for the downtown PHX views and chic atmosphere . Great happy hour menu food and drinks! It was definitely a busy time for them but service was on point. The food is an absolute flavorful experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This place came recommended by our hotel and it was not a far drive for our starving bellies!!! So we hopped in a Waymo and made our way over there which was easily accessible for all. Great view and cute casual place to enjoy some lunch. We were seated promptly and opted for outside seating since I was such a nice day in Phoenix. We started with 2 apps and actually should've stopped there. There is a hearty portion for the Butchers platter and the rock shrimp. They were also so delicious that 2 of those would've made my day. The platter has a mix of some amazing things and the house made mustard is AMAZING!!! These apps were so good that it made our main entrees feel a bit underwhelming but we were also super full. The 2025 Valentine's Day prix fixed menu was a delight! It was a definite value for such good food! I ordered the salmon as my main, which was cooked to perfection. And the seafood platter (an add-on) was definitely worth it. The ambiance of the Arrogant Butcher was casual-upscale and the service was mostly spot on. They were extremely busy, so I had to wait and remind my server a couple of times to bring me a beer. No huge deal, tho. It's a tad pricey given the portion sizes but dishes were composed and cooked well. I would like to go back and try a few other dishes to get a better feel for the menu. We stopped in the Arrogant Butcher after a game at Chase Field, on a packed Saturday night, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this high-energy restaurant -- it was delicious start to finish, from the tuna tataki to the absolute must-have sticky caramel cake (I would go back just for this dessert alone...soooo good). Service was a little slow at first, but the place was brimming with people, and once a waitperson was assigned to our table, the evening flowed seamlessly. There were a few new experiences in January. Yes, this draft was sitting a while. This lunch was excellent! We sat outside. The sun was beating down on me and the reason for only 4 stars. Next time I visit, I may sit inside. The staff were pleasant and provided good service. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. My salad was delicious. The decor is very nice. My sister lives here and recommended this place to me for dinner. I heard it was popular so I made a reservation, even as a solo diner, and I'm so glad I did. They were packed! I had my choice of a single table or the counter that faces the kitchen and I chose that because I like open kitchen concepts. I like to watch the chefs at work. They have a lot of different dishes but I selected the Crispy chicken. It is made with some green beans in the sauce but the waitress recommended I choose an actual side, which is a La cart, so I chose the smashed potatoes. Everything was excellent! I also had the drink special which was a spicy, raspberry Moscow mule. So good! I didn't realize it was $14, but oh well... Finally the Carmel cake was recommended for dessert but I was so full that I took it to go. I had a great meal and even met nice people at the counter. I would definitely return. read more

I almost never give reviews to places, but this place deserves one. Collin was our fantastic server! He was so kind and personable. My husband got the Cactus Juicy and the All American Blonde beers- both great and light. I ordered 2 of the Blood Orange Paloma drinks- so delicious and light. The app nachos were awesome and the Buther's half chicken was some of the best chicken I've had in a long time. I paired that with the green chile creamed corn. The only downside was the music was a bit loud on the patio for conversation, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and time here for lunch!! HIGHLY recommend. read more

The Arrogant Butcher was unexpectedly good. The restaurant will validate parking in the Cityscape garage right that is attached to the building. The restaurant is located right in front of the FootPrint Center, so be mindful if the Suns are playing - Traffic & parking can be madness if you don't prepare. Let's get to the food. I really enjoyed the pineapple salsa from the chicken egg rolls. The salsa is actually a better sauce to use for the crispy shrimp appetizer. We shared the salmon entree and the chicken breast with crab meat. They use jumbo lump crab meat, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The couscous and brussel sprouts that accompanied the salmon was fresh and flavorful. I washed it all down with a delicious old fashioned. We had a great night with The Butcher! read more

First stop on our trip was to the Arrogant Butcher and OMG -- it was so dang good! The wings.... Like you MUST get the wings! I asked our server to have them fried a bit more crispy and they were perfection. The Parmesan truffle fries, the smoked carnitas nachos... so so so good! We sat at the bar and the bar tender took such great care of us. She was very kind, attentive, and made great drinks. The space is also very nice and cozy. It was so good we went back again the next day. Highly highly recommend! They are located downtown, so you'd have to find street parking or if you're staying near feel free to walk over. However, my date ended up in the private lot directly behind the building and that was a $33 charge for 3 hours! Just a heads-up to think about about parking options ahead. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.

I had been looking forward to trying The Arrogant Butcher for some time, but the right opportunity seemed to elude me. Now it was Friday night of the Father's Day Weekend and we were trying to dodge the Sunday Father's Day rush, so my family and I headed down. We made reservations and they accommodated 8 of us, without any fuss, in the back room. This was a typical Fox Restaurant Concept establishment. Even if you are familiar with Sam Fox's work, you wouldn't necessarily know a restaurant designed by him when you walk in, but knowing it was a FRC eatery you see the classical approach in the design, menu, ambiance. There is a simple elegance in all of the Fox restaurants. Built around a 'theme', without being so heavy handed that you think you are in Disneyland, you know you are going to enjoy the experience. The ambiance was pleasant, comfortable, without being dull or boring. The menu was focused. Fox restaurants never overwhelm you with choices, but allow for enough variety that no one is left without something they can enjoy. We started with drinks. My son and I each chose a beer, the daughters & my wife each had a different specialty cocktail, and all enjoyed their choice. Mine was a Deschutes IPA, refreshing, mildly bitter with a hint of citrus. We accompanied that with The Butcher's Platter charcuterie board, which was not overloaded but there was plenty for all to have a little nosh without spoiling appetites for the main event. It was enjoyable, fresh, nicely presented and tasty. Before continuing let's look around the room. On one wall was a variety of pictures and art including a photo of a young John McCain in his Navy uniform, and a picture of motorcycles parachuting into a field. On another wall was the wine cellars, a series of modern temperature controlled refrigerators (you have to put the wine somewhere, why not make it a feature of the decor?). The entry to this room was wide enough to see the main dining room and bar. This room was big enough to accommodate several parties, with the size and open connection to the main room made you feel part of the action rather than isolated. While the sound from the main room reached through the entrance, that was not loud. Unfortunately, the acoustics of the room we were in, abetted by the high ceiling and flat walls, resulted in a high enough decibel count to make conversation with anyone, other than to your sides and across the table, somewhat difficult. I had plenty of time to observe our surroundings, the service was not rushed, something I enjoy on an evening out. Even our grandchildren were only mildly annoyed by having to wait a little longer than they were accustomed to do when dining. For the main course I very much enjoyed the beef short rib stew, although I could have chosen anything on their menu without hesitation, the jambalaya in particular catching my eye. It was delicious, served with a fresh cornbread muffin and I ordered a side of roasted beets which complemented the stew nicely. The stew had a fried egg on top, not my favourite preparation for egg. I would rather have a soft pouched egg if given the choice but, in this case, that wasn't an option. I have seen some criticism, in another review, of the amount of meat in this dish but I found it was plenty and balanced well with beans and green chili, which added plenty of flavour and a modicum of heat. The rest of the family tried the Burrata Pappardelle, the Crispy Chicken Breast, and the Smoked Pork Cubano, no one was disappointed. Everyone had sufficient that we all passed on desert. In summary, the food was excellent, the ambiance was nice except for the noise level, and we had a good time. One minor point which annoys me in any restaurant, whether it be a Michelin Star establishment or a humble Denny's, taking a used fork off a starter plate and putting it back on the table, rather than bringing fresh cutlery, is a serious breach of etiquette. Surely, Sam Fox, you hold your staff to a higher standard than that! Overall, a worthwhile trip, 3 1/2 stars. I wouldn't mind eating here again but both my wife and I agreed that it wasn't exceptional enough to fight the downtown traffic. Whilst we enjoyed the meal, there are plenty of comparable or superior places that are easier to access. Should we be going downtown for some other reason, or if invited to join someone here, I would not hesitate but, given the choice, going to The Henry or Doughbird (both other Fox Restaurants that we enjoy) are just as nice and less of a hassle. read more

Fantastic Experience at The Arrogant Butcher! A Must-Try! After church, we decided to take a drive out to Phoenix and try The Arrogant Butcher, and we're so glad we did! Located right in the heart of downtown, it's a lively spot with a great atmosphere. Even though the area was busy, we took a chance on the wait time, and to our surprise, it was only 10 minutes for our party of six on a Sunday--pretty impressive! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated quickly. Our waiter was wonderful, letting us know that everything on the menu is made fresh in-house. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and had a great energy. Now, onto the food--absolutely delicious! The Kobe burger and fries were packed with flavor, and the fries had the perfect crispy bite. The chicken wings were a hit, with a unique twist from the garnished on top. But the real star? The fish and chips--probably the best we've ever had! Everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked. We all shared a little of everything so we could really experience the menu, and every bite was worth it. If you go, the fish and chips are an absolute must-try! It all is actually! I chose to eat here due to the proximity of the Palomar Hotel. The place was not overly busy, but we were told that there was a 20 minute wait. We sat down and patiently waited and waited and waited. After 45 minutes we were seated outside which was fine since the weather was pleasant that evening. The problem was the entire time we were waiting there were four, then five, then six tables that were not being used. Once we were seated it took another 5 minutes or so to get water or even be able to place a drink order. After the waiter showed, I realized the place was name after the wrong person. The Arrogant Waiter is a much better suited name. Maybe he was suppose to act this way as a gimmick that goes along with the name of the restaurant, but this was lost on me. We both ordered the strip steak and had to have the side changed to potatoes. The crispy potatoes were pretty good. Both of our steaks were very over cooked, dry and lacked flavor. The total bill with drinks and appetizer was $150.00 which would not be bad if the service and food would have been good or at least average.. Over the years, Arrogant Butcher has been one of our favorite places; from the décor to the food and service. Other than having a drink at the bar, we have always had dinner in the dining area. Last night, we arrived about 30 minutes early for our reservation. They were not able seat us so we decided to have drinks and an appetizer while we waited. I checked again after we had an appetizer to see how long (now 10 min after our reservation) and was instructed it would be another 5-10 minutes. After 25, we decided to order our meal. After eating...now 1 hr after our reservation we were still 5-6 names down the list. As for the bar, it was busy (three bartenders on duty) - meaning all of the seats were taken along with the surrounding tables. Unfortunately, we ended up with the unfriendly bartender. He took our order, we had to ask for water, silverware, refills, a box, and our check (after our plates had set there for 10 minutes). This is why I can only rate last night as 'I've experienced better'. We will go back - but will avoid going anytime there is ANY kind of event downtown or if only bar seating is available (to have dinner). read more

Firstly, I would like to commend our waitress for her excellent service. Despite being very busy with multiple tables to manage, she was attentive, polite, and efficient. Her professionalism stood out and was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing visit. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. Specifically: * The cheeseburger was served cold, with soggy bread that made it difficult to enjoy. * The Downtown Club was underwhelming, consisting of stacked wonder bread, minimal tomatoes, and head lettuce heavily smothered in generic mayonnaise. * The BBQ pulled pork dish was particularly disappointing, with soggy bread, overly fatty meat, and an overwhelming amount of sauce that masked any flavor the dish might have had. What added to the disappointment was the impression that this might not have been an isolated incident. The waitress did not inquire about the barely touched plates, which suggested an understanding that the food might not be well-received. But what was so enjoyable besides the delicious food, was the server. His name is Ty ( I believe that's short for Tyler ) He's been with the manager ( as I had to stop and compliment him on Tyler ) for over 6 years. He must have started at a very young age. Tyler knew to let me know the size of the portions so I wouldn't under or over order. He was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu. Usually you find someone with Tyler's talents, unless they are older. I told the Manager to hold on to this kid. He's definitely going places. Made my and my sons dinner a very memorable one. IF I'M ON DEATH ROW I NEED THIER PRETZEL BITES AND CHEESE FONDUE! This is hands down one of the better restaurants in the Phoenix metro area, I've eaten here multiple times and every time it's a great experience, seating is fast, service is great, and I've never seen my ice tea glass go empty. I tried their daily fried shrimp po'boy special and it was the best one I've had outside of New Orleans, but seriously everything here is good, but make sure you ALWAYS get the pretzels. If you are in a rush I wouldn't recommend it, not because the service isn't fast, but because you will want the time to enjoy your food and the atmosphere. Our server Nikki was amazing, and I was dining with my aunt, who has dietary restrictions and Nikki was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made ordering a breeze. (Also did I mention she never let my ice tea get empty??) So if you're still reading this review you should stop and go get some pretzels and whatever else looks good to you on their menu! read more

There are so many employee reviews on here that it is sickening. It seems that the place had a lot of 5 star ratings when it opened since Sam gave away free food and drinks to the guests. A nice 5 star bribe. As time goes by and the freebies are gone the true ratings are coming out. I love the decor of the place. I wish I could say the same about the food and the drinks. I tried all three of the different happy hour drinks they have listed and seriously I can make better drinks at home. The flavors in the food is nothing special and the only thing on the menu that excited me is the mussels and fries since I lived in Paris for a while and thats like the Mcdonalds in Paris - Mussels and Fries. I wish as much energy and money could have gone into the food and drinks instead of the decor. But then again this is Az. "Foodies" here go to restaurants and get excited for their decor or if there is a long wait to get into a (30 seat) restaurant. Not in San Francisco or Chicago my friends. read more

We've been here twice now and both times were very pleasant. You have to get the pretzel fondue - its amazing. It is basically what you always dreamed of when ordering a pretzel and cheese sauce at the ball park - only this time the cheese dip is amazing and flavorful and the pretzel is moist and perfectly warm. For dinner we had the crab stuffed chicken which was very good and the Bolognese with Ricotta Dumplings. This dish was amazingly good - unfortunately it had been removed from the menu for some reason by the time we got back for our second visit. The second visit was to kill an hour before taking friends to the airport. We got an assortment of beers and appetizers - all were good especially the rock shrimp, the bacon and cheese stuffed potato bites (not the real name) and of course the pretzel fondue again. I had a great time with my friends here. Initially, we chose this place because of the interesting name, but also the good reviews. My friends and I were seated near the kitchen, which was a great experience. If you like watching people cook, then this is the place to be...next to the kitchen! Overall, the food was wonderful. I really liked the scallops. They were delicious and flavorful. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and went great with the creamed spinach. On the other hand, the characuterie board was alright. I wouldn't get this one again though. So this order consisted of 2 meats such as the prosciutto and a dried sausage, along with bacon wrapped sweet potatoes, pickled veggies and cheese. Although it wasn't one of my favorite items on the menu, a few of my friends liked this dish. And lastly, the service was amazing. Awful service!!! Never go here! I came for a dine before suns game start. They asked for reservation we said no. They led us to the table right by the door and told us you guys would have to leave by 6:45pm which was fine since our game starts at 8 and we had an hour and fourty five mintues til 6:45. Since we had kids caught cold we wanted to sit one behind it. We asked them and they said then you would have to leave by 6:00pm. I asked they do you guys reserve by the tables? They said no we reserve by time. Ok i will sit there and you guys can sit 6:00 reserve at this table and we will leave by 6:45 everyone is happy. And they wouldnt let us while there are more than 20 tables being empty. Such a horrible service *ADDITION After having meal at other place i passed by to go to the stadium i can still see so many tables being empty at 7:00pm. Absolutely loved everything about this place! Every single dish we tried was incredible, and you can truly tell it's a scratch kitchen because everything tasted fresh and made with care. The quality of the food was outstanding. A huge shoutout to the manager, Rico, who was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel appreciated from the moment we walked in. You can tell he really cares about both the restaurant and the guests. Our server, Morea, was phenomenal. He was attentive, incredibly fast, and always one step ahead. Our waters and drinks were constantly refilled before we even had to ask, and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The service was just as impressive as the food. Ambiance: Large urban restaurant (with bar). Has a big city feel to it, complete with tall ceilings, bustling waiters darting back and forth and modern decor. Patrons range from 30 somethings and beyond. Dress is business casual, as most are on dates or on the way to social engagement. Patrons are mostly tourists in town for conferences as well local suburbanites enjoying the city. There's usual a wait to be seated but most enjoy a drink at the bustling bar. Service: Despite the busy nature of this eatery the service is still Superb! The bar staff is especially attentive. Food: Touristy downtown restaurants have a reputation for uninspired food but this place isn't bad at all. Obviously lots of meat choices but they have a pretty good kale salad. I want to start by saying the restaurant itself and our server, Eric were both fantastic. Unfortunately, our food was initially underwhelming. It took quite a while to arrive, and when it did, the quality didn't meet our expectations. That said, the experience completely turned around thanks to the incredible attentiveness of the manager, Rico. When he came by to check on us, we shared our feedback, and he handled it with absolute professionalism. He immediately took action, replaced the dish, and personally ensured the second one was perfect, and it was! Rico also offered us a complimentary dessert and applied a generous discount to our bill. I made a reservation on a busy Friday night. I got there a few minutes before my reservation, but my table was not ready, and waited for 40 mins. I was initially very upset, because I made a reservation expecting to be seated at my desired time. The manager noticed and acknowledged my frustrations, and even the server that was going to take care of us came to apologize. Definitely WOWed by this gesture. When we were seated the manager made sure to cover our appetizers. My experience was turned around. The food was very good. Most of the dishes are flavorful and hearty. Excellent spot downtown Phoenix. We had a reservation. Ended up arriving early, and they were happy to seat us right away. Much appreciated; they didn't have to do that. Open, inviting atmosphere. Excellent service! He was very helpful! Loved the menu. There's definitely more I want to try. We went with the House Pretzels & Provolone Fondue.. so good. Entrees: The Butcher's Meatloaf..loved it, really good. The Prime Rib French Dip.. excellent. Too full for dessert this time, but definitely look at what they offer - they all sound so good. We parked in the paid outdoor lot across Jefferson, South of the restaurant, our server mentioned they'll validate parking for a couple parking garages close by.. something to think about. Had a great experience at The Arrogant Butcher. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere stood out -- I loved how each seating area had its own style and vibe, which made the restaurant feel unique and thoughtfully designed. I don't understand why there is so much hype about this place and why people wait in line. The portions are extremely small. I paid $35-$40 for a piece of short rib that was only 4 ounces max! The food is good, but not great. There is nothing special about this place, whether it's the food or the service. I expected much better considering the prices. We tried the wings, which were good and unique, but that was the only thing worth mentioning. The short rib portion was a third of what you would get anywhere else. The Seabass was flavorful but not noteworthy. I was excited to eat here based on the good reviews, andnword of mouth, but it was a disappointment in every aspect except for the wings. Casual spot with amazing apps and entrees. The server was super helpful and knew the menu inside out. The nachos were huge but super light, which was a pleasant surprise, and the meatloaf with mash and buttered string beans was flavorful and perfectly paired. Highly recommend these dishes! Had to stop by again before leaving Phoenix. The artichoke chip and dip was crispy yet light a great start. I tried the crispy chicken with crab, and every bite was delicious, especially with the sauce. The prime rib dip was solid, too. I'm not sure what the coating is, but it was so so flavorful and so crispy, and the chicken still so juicy. I could eat that on its own. The pepper jems were a cute touch! The chicken was placed on top of them so the bottom of the chicken did get soggy so my one suggestion is to place the chicken to the side, but the coating did rub into the potatoes which added some more flavor. The green beans were also tasty, nothing special, but the pistachio butter elevated it (nothing else needed the pistachio butter, not sure what else you use it for). I had a chocolate cake for dessert, the only gluten free dessert they offered me, but I still appreciate the option. It was just okay. The cake was dense and a little dry and didn't scream rich chocolate. There was a chocolate mousse layered in which helped. My boyfriend had some sort of strawberry cake mousse thing with layers of many different things - he thought it okay, I tried the mousse part and really liked it.
