These are some of my favorite drinks in Phoenix. The environment is pretty mellow but that's what you can expect for a hotel bar. The staff has always been friendly as well. The Kiwi To Life Is Happiness drink is one of my favorites of all time (I like sweeter drinks). The Always Sunny in Arizona is also good if you like coconut/pina coladas. I visited twice, back-to-back days, and the contrast was striking enough to warrant documenting both experiences. Visit 1 (Breakfast): The experience got off to a rough start. I waited about 12 minutes to be seated, even though no one was ahead of me, while two people who arrived after me were seated first. Once at my table, my server walked past me three times without acknowledgment; it took nearly 8 minutes to get water. When my food came out, I noticed my white toast had been swapped for some odd-looking wheat bread with no explanation. I only found out they didn't carry white toast by asking. No manager stopped by, and communication from the front-of-house staff was nearly nonexistent from start to finish. The one bright spot was that the food itself was genuinely good. Visit 2 (Next Day): A completely different experience. The restaurant was actually busier, yet the hostess was immediately attentive and got me seated without delay. My server, Josh, came right over, was personable, and proactively let me know they don't carry white toast, offering sourdough as an alternative without me having to ask. I also had the chance to chat with Erin, the banquet manager, who brought a warm and welcoming energy to the floor. That kind of manager presence was completely absent on day one and made a noticeable difference. Bottom line: The kitchen is solid, both visits confirmed that. But the guest experience here can vary wildly depending on who's working. When the team is on, this place shines. Here's hoping Visit 2 is the new standard. read more

I came here while staying at the Kimpton. It's a solid three stars for me -- not bad, not good, just kind of THERE. I sat at the bar and got the kale and apple salad (minus the pancetta), a side of fries, and a Diet Coke. It was okay, nothing special really. They were out of chicken, the prime rib, and the french toast, so I wouldn't count on coming here and having the full menu at your disposal. The bartender was nice but also pretty absent. Once my food came, I didn't see him again for at least 20 minutes, at which time I was ready to pay my bill. Speaking of the bill, it was $30. Definitely not a cheap place to stop in for a bite. I didn't get a cocktail but I saw that they're all around $17. Overall, not a place I'd need to return to. read more

Myy first time here was at a Yelp event and it was a such a delight. The hostess, servers, manager, and executive chef were super hospitable. The patio area is lovely. Nice and open with a view of the restaurant of Cityscape. The food served was phenomenal. These new menu items are going to be a hit. My cousin and I stayed the Kimpton Palomar the last weekend in July and ate at Blue Hound Kitchen everyday. Our server Theo was amazing! He recommended the sausage hash dish for breakfast. We really like Blue Hound. The location is great if you have downtown plans. We come here a lot before a show at the Herberger theater or Arizona Financial center. This time, the bar was totally decked out in blue for Blue Blitzen Christmas theme. It was actually pretty cool! There was we went silver foil paper on the walls and blue lights everywhere. It was kind of weird because you kind of couldn't even see the people at the bar! I loved it! The dining area next to it had a good view of the blue bar, but had regular lighting. I really love the wedge salad here, so every time I've come I've ordered the same thing - - a wedge salad with grilled salmon on the side. Except this time, I got the blackened salmon. Omg! It was so delicious and perfectly cooked! Of course my wedge salad was delish, as it always is. Hubby got the cheeseburger with fries. He said it was really really good. I also got a cocktail called the Jalisco Popper. It was slightly spicy, but not bad at all. Hubby got a beer. We seem to keep coming back because we just enjoy the food and cocktails here, and the location is so good when we've got something to do downtown. We just like Blue Hound Kitchen! read more

Gorgeous Space, semi-open kitchen, attentive service, delicious food. We were looking for later dinner after arriving in Pheonix and were very happy when we walked in. They serve a full menu until 10pm, then bar bites till midnight. We ordered 4 plates to share. The cocktail menu is outstanding! I ordered an infinite stays acoustic ( zero proof ) and my friend ordered an always sunny in Arizona. Both unique, his was potent! The Calamari was fantastic, I did not try a fried pepper because I'm not able to handle spice. My friend said they were Hot ( and ate all 3 of them )... The burger was good, Fries were ok. I have never liked crinkle cut fries... Brussel Sprouts were Fantastic! We couldn't finish them, but they are in the fridge of our hotel. Fried Green Tomatoes were perfect. We went to Blue Hound for a quick bite and a drink before the Katy Perry concert. The location is great because it's within walking distance of the Phoenix Arena. The restaurant is very open and has lots of natural light. It was a friend and I with our 2 younger daughters. They sat us at the farthest table in the back next to the kitchen entrance. There were other tables open and we had a reservation so not sure why they put us there, maybe because we had kids? The table wasn't great. We had a glass of wine and our girls had Shirley temples. We ordered a few different appetizers to share. Charcuterie Board, Burrata, Brussel Sprouts, and the House Mac & Cheese. The Charcuterie Board was more of a meat board. It came with prosciutto, salami, and soppressata, lots of bread, and very little goat and brie cheese. The board needs more cheeses to offset the meat! The burrata sounded so good on the menu, but none of us liked it. The fried green tomatoes were soft and not really fried, at least not the way I've had them before or like them. They weren't crisp. The apple butter didn't do anything for the dish, which was a bummer bc I would have thought the apple butter and the hot honey would be a great combo. The Brussel Sprouts were awesome. They were roasted and tossed with balsamic and parmesan. The Mac n Cheese was also good, but not sure it's worth $20. We ordered it for the girls. Our server was nice. I love Kimpton properties and was hoping Blue Hound would be great, it was just okay. I would go back again to give it another try and request a better table . Colleague friend suggested this place for dinner and happy to have given this place a try. This place is in DTPHX and in the CityScape area. Parking is annoying around here so be prepared for that. We met for a late dinner at 8pm. It was Phoenix Restaurant Week and we gave that a try. I had the tuna tartare and sort rib. My friend also had tuna tartare and the blackened salmon. We shared the date cake and creme brulee for dessert. Each set was $55/person and a pretty good deal. Large plate portion was a good amount and I had leftovers for next meal. We both had a few cocktails each and ai enjoyed the Edge of the Water cocktail, which is a smoky Old Fashioned. It was perfect and well made. I also had their Mezcal cocktail, the Division Bell, and that was good too. A nice classy spot in downtown tucked into the second floor and part of the hotel. Looks can be deceiving. The food was SO salty, enough so that i couldn't enjoy my meal. The only good thing we had was the macaroni and fried green tomatoes. Blue Hound is located in downtown Phoenix and is connected to a hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and the staff were very friendly. We ordered the hot honey wings, the burger, and the lobster roll. The hot honey wings had very good flavor. My only call out is they lacked spice. So if you don't like spicy food you will enjoy these. The lobster roll has a slightly different take than usual as this one has capers in it. I stopped in to the Bkue Hound tonight, New Year's Eve for a quick bite and glass of wine. I went to the bar which is very pretty and took a seat at the end it was a very quiet evening and I was excited to find a seat! Let me start by saying the service was awful. Two bartenders and it took the bar back to ask me if I wanted to order. I had been seated for at least ten minutes and it was very slow! The male bartender was chatting it up with others and never acknowledged me. I finally was able to order and had a Cesar salad , the worst salad ever! And i ordered the truffle fries which were ok. My wine pour was short and I was surprised! Blue Hound is in a hotel so that may explain the quality of food but seriously disappointed with everything! I definitely won't be coming back when there are way better bars with more friendly people. read more

Gold stars, and rave reviews for the Blue Hound. The beef short rib entree is the best dish I've had in a very long time. Top five meals EVER. The meat was so tender and moist, good heavens, it was perfection. The green chili cheddar grits were a southwestern delight that rounded out the dish beautifully without detracting from the main star, the meat. It was also served with glazed carrots that were a subtle, classic delight; and shallots that I could've gone without. The shallots were served in halves and placed on the edge of the plate. They were well cooked but felt isolated from the rest of the dish and charred on the ends. My partner had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and that was marvelous. The soup had such a unique flavor and subtle heat. I enjoyed it very, very much and still can't put my finger on what the special twist was. My guesses are white pepper and Thai basil, but I could be so wrong. Regardless, you HAVE to try it -- I'll be thinking about that soup for a long time. We finished the meal off with a bottle of wine and the crème brûlée. Both were delicious. The restaurant itself was clean and classy in its vibe. Staff were knowledgeable and kind and we enjoyed their service. Unfortunately, they seemed to have attracted a very political clientele due to an event held downtown when we visited. A dress code would have been appreciated to maintain the ambience and vibe, but I understand that that just may not be the standard. There is a bar seating area, separate tables area, and a balcony seating outdoor area. We left with a $150 bill for two with wine, a small dish, large dish and dessert. Worth it imo. I will absolutely be back when I'm in the mood for a delicious meal, and I recommend it to couples for a nice dinner, date night, or celebration. read more

Family and I wanted this location on Saturday, June 1 for early lunch. The parking can be a little hectic so you can either use the parking garage and or street parking. Upon entering, the restaurant is attached inside of the hotel called the Kimpton. The decor and scenery is very beautiful inside the hotel and the restaurant. We noticed it was not very busy at all only a few people at the bar and our table and the bartender was also our waitress and she was very kind and attentive. Additional staff come in for rush. We were able to ask her questions and she provided us answer accordingly and we placed start order and our staffing was very friendly and attentive, and our food was delicious . We ordered two of their hamburgers with fries and chicken sandwich with fries and everything was absolutely delicious . We were told that they were breaking back their brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday as well, which we would love to try one day. Tip the sandwiches are more affordable, but the dinners are a little pricey, but you do get more bang for your buck for the sandwiches cause it's very filling. We also were able to look around the downstairs of the hotel because it's right outside of the restaurant and it's very beautiful. Are a lot of other restaurants in the area and shops that you could be able to walk around as well to view. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU NEED GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. The menu indicates many items being GF, however, they do not have separate areas for GF integrity. So cross contamination would be a huge concern. Our waiter said he knew that the menu was wrong, had addressed it previously, and it still hasn't been corrected. It also specifies online Gluten Free options. We made reservations here for GF options as my wife has Celiac disease. This was the evening of the Rod Stewart concert. Once we found out no Gluten Free options we knew we wouldn't have time to go somewhere else for better accommodations so we modified all of our orders and my wife "got" something she could eat, not what she wanted. Our friends, who made the reservations, apologized all night, through the end of the evening. Asked for a manager when we paid and no one showed up for 10 minutes so we left. It's Arizona Restaurant week, so as a foodie I had to take advantage of the restaurant week and try something new. It was my first time at Blue Hound, and such a pleasant experience. Minimal hassle with reservations and getting seated. The only hassle is finding parking downtown but luckily they validate up to 2 hrs at the parking garage which was totally convenient. Blue hound has a three course meal for restaurant week, for my appetizer I wanted the calamari. Unfortunately they were out of calamari, at 7pm on Saturday night which was such a let down. Apparently the calamari was the popular appetizer option for the restaurant week. They were also out of the ahi tuna. I decided to go for the only available option the bacon wrapped dates. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed it. It honestly wouldn't have been my first or second option for appetizers. The saltiness with the sweetness of the dates was absolutely chefs kiss. Definitely will get it again, they did get my bacon a little burnt. My entree was the braised beef short ribs, oh boy! The beef short rib literally was so tender and juicy. I have never tried grits before so I was a little skeptical about the combination but I have to say it was really good. Finally the best part of any meal; dessert. I have to say the sticky date cake I could sing praises about the cake for days. Omg it was so moist, sweet and the ice cream melting on top was just so good. Writing this review makes me want to go back just for the cake, it was so darn good! For my drink I went with the Marty McFly, I had them make it a little sweeter. The bartender pours heavy on the liquor so you know you get your money worth. Our waitress was really great as well. We popped in for an early Sunday dinner after a Phoenix Mercury game. We had the run of the house for seating and the wait staff were all helpful and attentive. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine (our server let us sample a few to help us choose - always a plus in my book!) with their yummy baby wedge salad. We started with the holy moly flatbread which was good! Wish it came with a house hot sauce! They were very accommodating and made half with no cheese! We started for drinks with The Criminal which was good, very strong and Smokey! We got the ribeye which was absolutely delicious! It was cooked perfectly! I have to say our experience started poorly at the Eden Outdoor Bar through a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings. Details would go on too long, but every employee that we met only want solve problems and make us happy as customers and repeat customers. This would include the Food & Beverage Director who bent over backwards to ensure that we knew how important we were as customers. I can't tell you how good that makes me feel... to be appreciated and more than just a dinner check. If I could for all involved, I'd give ten stars out of ten here for service (but only permitted five). Food also first rate... served hot and timely and properly seasoned. Zero Issues and really enjoyed every bite. Atmosphere only lacked sitting outside which just wasn't available, but the cozy booth in the bar was plenty comfortable and surely a great place for our dinner. Overall, a First-Class experience worthy of repeating. read more
