A true hidden gem that feels like it was made to be stumbled upon, which is kind of what happened (saw a sign outside for potato donuts and was very intrigued!). Verrilli is a charming, hole in the wall bakery with a cozy interior. Although seating is limited inside, they will have a lot of outdoor seating when summer rolls around. There is a small parking lot out front, but may need to street park when it gets busy. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. Getting to the highlight: the potato donuts!! They also have other small desserts like cannoli, cookies, biscotti, and pizza, burgers, fries - all freshly homemade. Anyway, ordered the cinnamon sugar and butter glaze donut, (fresh and best enjoyed hot) and it was so light, fluffy, and not overly sweet!Looking to try their other donuts on the menu! This was a spot that served sandwiches, pizzas, and made to order donuts. The service was friendly and the food was ready in a timely fashion. Four of their donuts were ordered. They were of the potato variety. Since they were made to order, they came out piping hot. My thoughts on each are below. The temperature really made a difference as I tried a few bites after they cooled down and it was not the same. All of the donuts were appropriate in size and somehow appeared very light. I wonder if that was attributed to the potato variety. I just could not believe how much the hot temperature made a difference in all four. Original Cinnamon Sugar - This was very good with plenty of sugar present. Raspberry Jam - There was a ton of raspberry jam here and it was great. Nutella - There was an excessive amount of Nutella here and it worked out well with the hot donut texture. It was unreal. Cannoli - This was great too. Stopped in with the hubby while driving through. Found Verrilli's on the map and wanted to stop in to get the full Jersey experience by getting a Taylor ham sandwich, fresh baked biscotti and a spudnut. We had a good time chatting with Christie while we were there. She's a super cool chick that made us feel at home. Sandwich was delish, she recommended one with sausage and potatoes in it. Christie is truly amazing. If I lived nearby, I'd be there everyday not only for the delicious food and baked goods, but for a family owned business that truly takes the time to make you feel at home. And it wasn't just me. We came back 3 times and heard other customers experiencing genuine chats about all things life. The spudnut donuts are truly the most amazing. Think like a thick style Krispy Kreme but so much better. And my kid says the Nutella one should be at the top of the list while all his teammates loved the original cinnamon sugar! We also came back for breakfast and they were able to accommodate food sensitivities. My kid said his bacon egg potatoes and cheese was better than anything we've had in NY! lol Lastly, for price and quality, this place is a winner for families. It's more of a hole in the wall than a place focusing on aesthetics. And there's a reason: it focuses on great food and great customer experience. We will always be back when in town!! On a rainy Saturday, I found a dry, comfortable oasis in Verrilli's. I could have stayed there forever taking in aroma of the spudnuts, while also watching the joy on people's faces as they took in the orders. I devoured a raspberry jam and peanut butter spudnut before the family next to me got their order. Seems that I need to check out their savory items too. I got 4 specialty spudnuts and 1 classic cinnamon sugar for $19 - and they offer a discount for cash payments. The Oreo and Samoa spudnuts are very strong chocolate flavor. The butter glaze with raspberry drizzle and the original cinnamon sugar are my favorite! It's best with lighter flavors so you can really taste the dough. Cannoli doughnut is also so delicious, and covered with sugar. Hands down one of the best spots in town. Without a doubt, they best breakfast sandwich in town. The Morristown special is bacon, egg, and cheese on their famous spudnut. It's everything you want in a breakfast, but the spudnut is crispy and fluffy at the same time and the touch of maple syrup just puts it over the top. Their spudnuts, which are made fresh to order by the way, are unique and personally I like them regular than regular donuts. The plain/ cinnamon sugar spudnuts are amazing, but their specialty ones like cannoli or tres leches are worth the trip alone. The people who run it are the most down to earth friendly people and you can tell really care about the community. They are just as much of the draw of coming here as the food itself. Drunken starry-eyed aura! On a mission to find cannoli, this came up a highly rated bakery in town. I dropped by to satisfy a craving. What I discovered was something much better than just cannoli - CANNOLI DONUTS!!! ...freshly fried while waiting, then smothered with that heavenly filling. Slobbery bakery goods displayed in their encasing made me fail temptational resistance. I bought more without shame. Above that, I also learned how small this town really is! I hate to do this but I didn't have a good experience the only time I went. I ordered a THC no egg on their freshly baked roll. The roll was delicious but I couldn't get over the cost... Passed-by this bakery and restaurant on the way to my thrifting escapade in Morristown, NJ the other day. Like a Mom and Pop place being supported by locals. I ordered chicken steak sandwich with fries on the side. I also take out a loaf of their banana bread. The chicken steak sandwich is delicious. The sweet peppers and melted cheese blended well with grilled chicken. The lady and the guy working at the grill are nice and helpful. You need to dine out in their dining tables or you can choose to dine inside 6ft apart. They only have two dining tables. I consider this a hidden gem that only locals come, dine and hang-out during warmer or cool days. Hoping that during winter time, they'll continue to support this place. read more

After hearing so many people from my town saying that they drove to Morristown to visit Verilli's, I had to give it a try! Since yesterday was a holiday and I had more time for lunch, I made the trip! The cheesesteaks seem to be a speciality there, so I ordered a couple for my wife and I. The sandwiches are very big...we could have gotten one and split it. They were very good. So many places make cheesesteaks, and I've had quite a few, I'd place Verilli's in the top 25%. The other specialty item are the donuts, which are called Spudnuts since they're made from potatoes. They are good and very heavy, one is plenty. We really liked the cannoli filled one. Verilli's is a staple in Morristown since they've been there for 37 years. It's a family run bakery and everyone is very friendly. My only negative comment is that Yelp has a check in offer of 50% off a sandwich, and when I asked if I could use it, I was told "no, that was from 2017". That's fine, but if that's the case, it should be removed from Yelp. read more

Came on a Saturday morning and was able to be helped right away. All of the workers were super nice and helpful. Had heard about this place and their spudnuts so we decided to stop by! There were plenty of flavors and honestly wish we tried more! We got one Reese's which is drool worthy and the Cannoli one! Very nicely priced at only about $3.50 a piece!! If you have never had a spudnuts (like myself) it's a bit difficult to describe but it was like a spongeier / breadier donut! Definitely had a different texture but was good! Think I may still prefer the regular donut but was happy to try something new. Honestly though the bakery had some great flavors and would recommend going in to try some! Truly a hidden gem for me! I used to live not too far from Morristown and have never heard of this place until a few weeks ago. My boyfriend and I came in for the doughnuts and we tried 4 different flavors: cannoli, Boston creme, nutella, and dulce de leech with sea salt (or salted caramel, I forgot). It's been probably 3-4 weeks since we had them and we are still talking about that cannoli doughnut LOL. It was probably the best one I've had in quite some time. Of note, the Boston creme wasn't overly sweet so I enjoyed it quite a lot since nowadays most of them are too sweet to eat. All of the doughnuts that we got are potato doughnuts and they were pretty big! I believe they're made to order because our doughnuts were hot(!!). Verrilli's bakery also has a lot of other good looking pastries that we haven't gotten a chance to try as well as other foods. They also deliver, although I am not sure if its only local. This has been on my radar for a while. I used to work near Morristown and meant to make a trip for their legendary 'spud nuts' - donuts made from potatoes - ages ago. Well, I finally made it, and it was well worth the long walk from The Westin Governor Morris hotel. Not only are the donuts made fresh while you wait, there's an array of great sweets on offer - Italian and Greek staples like cannoli, biscotti, baklava and even kourabiethes (Greek shortbreads dusted in icing sugar and studded with whole cloves). I had a baklava (not drenched in syrup, leaning towards the drier, crunchier side which is my preference) and took 2 cinnamon and 2 maple bacon spud nuts to go. Great experience all the way around. The butter glazed doughnut was amazing. The potato flour prilovides an extra bit of softness to the dough and the extra butter in the glaze is amazing. The maple bacon had a great balance of sweet and salty and was simply delicious. The Taylor ham sandwich (the El Capitan) with the ham, egg, sausage, and potatoes all came together well. The egg was just a touch runny but just barely, which is just the way I like it. The potatoes could have been cooked a bit more bit that is nit-picking. The crumb cake was ok. Great ratio of sugar to cake but just a hair dry. The snickerdoodle cookie was a bit hard for my taste but I like super soft, underdone cookies. The two ladies that run the joint are super friendly. It's not super close to me but I plan to frequent this establishment. Several of the items are good but go for the fresh made doughnuts. I've wanted to try Verrillis forever. Today, I discovered they deliver to my work area via Slice. I had such a pleasant experience ordering food from here. The food is great, fresh and made with high quality ingredients. This may sound weird, but whatever tomatoes they use on their gyro's are next level flavorful.
