Although we are only 3 hours away, we realized during that visit, three hours was way too far to effectively take care of Mom and Dad. Mom has always taken care of everything for Dad. My father has Parkinson's disease. It wasn't until this last visit that my husband and I could clearly see just how badly an extra set of hands was needed for my father's care. We interviewed three Home Health Agencies and without a shadow of a doubt, the entire family chose Assisting Hands. Not only were they competitive from a price standpoint, they were one of the few companies with the credentials we were looking for. We even met the caregivers who would be working with mom and dad before we had to leave to head home! I talk to Linda (Mom and Dad's Caregiver) nearly every night and she feels like a member of our family. I haven't seen Mom and Dad this happy in a very long time. Linda, Mom and Dad, go on outings, the house looks great, mom and dad are well taken care of and my husband and I are actually sleeping at night without worry! I love Assisting Hands and we have sent everyone we know struggling with similar situations to Assisting Hands!

We had the biggest decision of our lives, accept a job that would be an unbelievable opportunity for my wife, the kids and I, or turn down the opportunity to stay in Ohio with Mom and Dad. My parents were excited for us and the new possibilities our my career decision could give my family, but they were in denial about how much care my wife and I were providing by living a block away. Dad suffered a stroke in 2010 and his physical condition had really limited the things he could do. Mom never had a driver's license so my wife took them everywhere during the day and in the evenings, I was responsible for transportation. We never minded caring for them; it became second nature for all of us. I saw a commercial for Assisting Hands Home Care and it felt like the commercial and their services were reaching straight out to us! It was as through the stars were aligned and I was meant to see that on TV. It was on a Saturday but I called the number. I couldn't believe, I actually got a live person who had the ability to come out within a few hours of the call and coordinate a complete plan with all of us. The owner even called me herself later that evening and we talked for almost an hour. We had two weeks to get into temporary housing for my new job yet we had everything figured out within 24 hours. Mom and dad were somewhat resistant but after meeting their caregiver, it was like this was just the way things were meant to be. Although we are further away, wither my wife or myself manages to come up one weekend a month to stay with my parents. They look better than when we were taking care of most of their needs. Although we didn't know it at the time, I think the stress and large responsibility weighed on all of us when it was my wife and I as the sole care takers and in turn, my parents had so much guilt but knew deep down then needed us. Assisting Hands has given us all peace of mind and comfort in their services! I love the company, love what they do and would recommend their services to anyone who needs the help!

I absolutely love this food pantry. You can visit twice a month and you can receive produce, meat,…read moretoiletries, fruit, vegetables, pasta, potatoes, cereal and more! The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are always are willing to help with a smile. I really like the hours. The hours are convenient, and keep in mind the working family. For example, they have early Saturday hours, and two days during the week with one day in the morning and one day in the evening. Therefore, if you work a traditional 9 to 5 you can come after work. The lines are long though! Before COVID-19, we were able to go inside and shop. However, the Hilliard food pantry takes the pandemic very seriously and they converted to a drive-through method. You drive up, give them your information, and they load up your trunk. They do this very quickly but you will be in the line for a bit. There are some days that I come and things are very in and out, about 10 minutes. And there are other days where I'm there for almost an hour in the line. I can tell you that it's worth it. For struggling families, they do so much. Sometimes they have clothes, and shoes as well that have been donated. They even offer assistance during Thanksgiving and Christmas which includes food as well as toys. And the toys are good, they give bicycles almost every year. They also offer utility assistance once a year. The people here are just amazing. I said that already but I think I should say it again. Full disclosure here, I have pretty intense back and hip problems. One time I pulled up onto the line at the pantry, and my hip totally locked up on me. I was already in park but I couldn't lift my foot to the gas pedal. So, I was essentially holding up the line... unable to get out of the way or move forward. I called the pantry and told them the situation. Two women came out to help me! I am appreciative of what the Hilliard food pantry does for my family. Thank you!

The care I received here was better than I expected. I had heard from former patients that they were recommending Mill Run Rehabilitation. The care from not only the staff, but the doctors and therapists were also very supportive and encouraging to me. The Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist had me out of bed and worked with me to get me up and moving when I didn't think I could do anything yet! I was very sore from my surgery but with their help, was up moving long before I thought I was ready! The administration was friendly and worked with me to try to get a few more days to work on using the steps in therapy to be able to get into my home. Unfortunately, insurance did not agree and I had to leave due to the fact that I would not be covered by insurance any longer. I was discharged from Mill Run and I was ready to move home! There were also activities for the residents to do as well as groups that come in and have different activities for them to participate in! Since I was there near to Christmas, some of the entertainment was geared toward the holidays. The only complaints I had would be about the food. On weekends, there was less food on the trays with no desert and very small portions. On a few days, the food was very spicy and very little taste but heat. I wondered about the senior population and the amount of spices that were used! My only suggestion was to try to get more staff to work so that everyone is properly cared for. The staff l was fortunate to have were incredible! It would sometimes take a while longer for them to get to me, but they were always there as quickly as they could be! Thanks Mill Run for the care I received!
