The care I received here was better than I expected. I had heard from former patients that they were recommending Mill Run Rehabilitation. The care from not only the staff, but the doctors and therapists were also very supportive and encouraging to me. The Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist had me out of bed and worked with me to get me up and moving when I didn't think I could do anything yet! I was very sore from my surgery but with their help, was up moving long before I thought I was ready! The administration was friendly and worked with me to try to get a few more days to work on using the steps in therapy to be able to get into my home. Unfortunately, insurance did not agree and I had to leave due to the fact that I would not be covered by insurance any longer. I was discharged from Mill Run and I was ready to move home! There were also activities for the residents to do as well as groups that come in and have different activities for them to participate in! Since I was there near to Christmas, some of the entertainment was geared toward the holidays. The only complaints I had would be about the food. On weekends, there was less food on the trays with no desert and very small portions. On a few days, the food was very spicy and very little taste but heat. I wondered about the senior population and the amount of spices that were used! My only suggestion was to try to get more staff to work so that everyone is properly cared for. The staff l was fortunate to have were incredible! It would sometimes take a while longer for them to get to me, but they were always there as quickly as they could be! Thanks Mill Run for the care I received!

This facility is beyond awful. I wouldn't leave my dog here with out an outsider to supervise all…read moreinteractions. The facility to begin with is dirty, and management is shady. Their work ethics are non existent. My family member was often soaked in urine, and flat on his back in bed. Sometimes out of bed and falling out of a chair. And the last time I was there I called 911 because no one could tell me what was happening, or how long my family member had been in the condition he was in. I was told "I told a nurse he was really hard to wake up this morning". But couldn't tell me what nurse, what time, and if there was ever a follow up done. Ironically at the hospital they drained over 3 liters of urine from his bladder, that caused kidney damage. A catheter was placed in the ER, and was never able to be removed. My dad was never able to go back home. Call buttons were never answered in a timely manner. They would place meal trays across the room where the patient could not reach it on their own. Unchanged bedding, unkept rooms. Always told "we're just so understaffed" or the "weekend employees are unaware of how his care is specific". The only time things ran well were when JCS, DOH, and/or a social worker made planned visits.

(I'd had a busy week with five gigs and hadn't called back yet.) This seemed ironic. Between April 3rd and August 6th, I either called or emailed Lisa, Blu Johnson, Elissa Payne and executives from the parent company True Connection Communities a total of eleven times to get this resolved. But I finally got paid.

My father died after one week at Altercare of Hilliard. His last words to me, which will haunt me…read morefor the rest of my life, were, "They never come! I call and they never come! I need to try to sleep off this stress." I gave him a couple of hours to sleep, then called his room. No answer. I called the nurses station. No answer. About an hour later, his nurse called. She said, "I found him unresponsive." According to her, staff members and EMS tried to resuscitate him, though his autopsy did not note any signs of CPR. "What do you want us to do with the body?" was the next question. I was not at home, so I told her I'd have to call back in a little while. A few minutes later, another call from an administrator, "What do you want us to do with the body??" I was on my way back home and told her I'd have to call them back. The level of attention you receive once deceased is astonishing. In the days leading up to his death, he had complained to the staff about their unresponsiveness. It would take over an hour for a transfer from his wheel chair to his bed. He ended up developing an abrasion from sitting too long. Aides would apologize and say that they were fighting against frequent staff shortages. All of this falls at the feet of the administration. CEO Greg Colaner, I'm looking at you. Do better. My father died of a heart attack while under tremendous stress caused by an unresponsive staff. Please spare your family members from this facility. I wish I had.

In the 24 hours he was there they missed his meds and didn't even offer him his inhaler. This was just the beginning he also smelled of urine, his bed and clothes were soaked from his accident. He had called for assistance and the nurses didn't respond. There was one nurse that helped me get him out of bed into a wheelchair and brought fresh linens her name was Christy but it takes more than one great care giver for a facility like this.

Bodybuilders using weights are at the smaller part of the L shape in the south-west area of the building. The walls of the basketball court do not go all the way up to the ceiling so yelling, screaming, and thumping noises easily propagate throughout the building as do clanking sounds from the weight lifting area. Walls, floors, and the interior of the roof of this huge open space are all hard surfaces which exacerbate the noise problem. There are several TV's on the south wall but no remote control(s) to channel select. Speakers abound throughout the building often with annoying music that is more often than not in the foreground rather than background. This only serves to add to the ambient noise level. There are other oddities as well such as no place at the entrance to hang winter coats, rain coats, boots, umbrellas, etc. There are however, small lockable cubicles near the entrance where a rolled up jacket or other small items can be stowed. If you have large bulky winter items, it would be best to shed them and leave them in your car. The locker rooms are also lacking where lockers are just half-height and stacked one above the other. Having just one toilet and one urinal, this is grossly inadequate for the scores of members and staff using the building. And strangely, paper towel dispensers are numerous for wiping down the machines however none are to be found in the restrooms. Oddly, included under the hand blower is a trash container for paper towels that do not exist. When the blower runs, the plastic liner blows out into your face. Lastly, whoever designed the parking area was totally clueless. There is not enough space between the double rows of parking slots making getting in and out of spaces tight and difficult. Care must be taken as to not back into one of the other parked cars. Other than the oddities outlined, it's a welcomed addition to the community.
